The Bee Sting was DELICIOUS and the staff was friendly even during a busy rush. Great atmosphere to sit for a bit and relax or get some work done. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was finding seating was a little tough during peak hours, but overall definitely worth the stop and I'd come back again. read more

I walked here from hotel to kill some time and get some coffee/breakfast. This place had very good reviews. I ordered a cappuccino and a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a rosemary bagel. The food came out pretty fast despite the increasing number of coworkers. I sat down with my food and read. The place is small and cozy with a few benches/tables. My bagel had a great chewy texture and the rosemary bagel was delicious on its own! The eggs were fluffy and the cheese complemented the sandwich very well. The cappuccino was strong and very good. Been coming here for a quick breakfast after pickleball and it's quite good. I order a rosemary salt bagel with plain cream cheese. I ask for it double toasted and even then it sometimes doesn't feel toasted. Although I wish it were toasted more, the bagel is fresh and I like the taste of their cream cheese as well. My drink order changes but this time around I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk which I really enjoyed! I will say if you're in a rush maybe skip the food order or put in a mobile order well ahead of time. I've come a few times now and my bagel always takes like 10 minutes before it's ready. Coffee on the other hand always comes out less than 2 minutes later. I love the decor inside and always try to sit by the window counter if there's space. If you're looking for yummy coffee in the Boston area, Pavement Coffee never does me dirty. Their lattes are so good and the service is great. Plus, the non-coffee beverages are so good too. I got the iced mocha & watermelon lemonade and both were amazing. I do wish they offered lattes in the large size, but 16oz is usually enough. Plus, don't skip the bagels! I really do think they have some of my favorite bagels--they're the perfect amount of chewy and the cream cheese is so good. I've never left a negative review but my gosh this place was abysmal. Not sure if the person behind the counter knew they work a job in which you have to interact with people, because we were treated as if we might as well been robbing the store simply by engaging with the cashier to order a coffee. Early morning before a work while on a work trip in Boston area and wanted to hit a local coffee spot. Found this place doing a quick review and decided to give it a shot. Very glad I did! It honestly needs wayyy more ratings than it has... it was so good. I got an ice mocha and one of the breakfast bagel sandwiches - had egg, cheese and sausage. They let you pick the type of bagel and had a good array of options, I went with the jalapeño. Interior is cute little spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. Parking lot was decent sized, but in a business area - so I can imagine on a very busy morning it being packed. Everything came quick and true to work nature... I ended up forgetting about my food and didn't get to eat it till after an hour or so... but let me say this, it still tasted fresh, warm and it was so freaking good. This has got to be one of the top 3 best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. The bagel was so soft and perfect. Egg cooked perfectly, as was the sausage. Coffe was just as good, wasn't too sugary or lite... I like a nice full bodied coffee with a hint of chocolate and this hit the spot! My coworker gave them an amazing review as well. Feeling generous giving it 2 stars for the coffee which is ok, maybe a little watery, and the outdoor seating. Otherwise, my experience couldn't be worse. I was in line when suddenly one of the employees recognized the person behind me, I never heard such shrieking in my life and it was prolonged. The person kept repeating how glad they were to see this person but the tone and volume of their voice was the most annoying thing ever. My husband, who was in the bathroom, thought that maybe I was the 100th customer and won coffee for life- he said it was so loud. When it was my turn to order, the cashier gave off a vibe that was almost hostile. The place seemed pretty cool and not loud so you can just come here and work! Free wifi! We got a jalapeno bagel with sundried tomato cream cheese with veggies on top to go with a cold brew and iced tea. The bagel was a bit of a mess probably because it was loaded with cream cheese but tasty nonetheless. The tea and coffee were really good with a variety of options. A coffeehouse with parking in Allston? Yes please. Pavement offers a a good variety of bagels, breakfast sandwiches, spreads, and vegan sandwiches and spreads. We love a shop that has options for our vegan friends. I tried the everything bagel with a garlic and chive spread. They're definitely not shy on the cream cheese like other fellow yelpers have said. I love a lot of cream cheese but for someone who doesn't you can ask them to be light on the spread. I also tried their cold brew which was pretty tasty too. Their website says it's +.25c for almond milk but when I came in they had their almond milk on the side with their other creams. I don't believe in charging extra for a non-dairy alternative so that was a plus, although their website is misleading. I took off one star for service. The guy taking my order was so not inviting and the guy who gave me my bagel pretty much slid it on the counter instead of just handing it to me while my hand was out. read more

First time at Pavement coffeehouse. The ambiance is nice and cozy and it's in a quiet neighborhood. They also have customer parking at the side of the store. Otherwise, there's ample of street parking. I generally look for specialty lattes. If a cafe makes a seasonal latte and they make it from scratch - mmm, there's nothing like it. Unfortunately, many cafes do make these flavored lattes but it's usually a squirt of some bottled artificial stuff. Sad. But not this one, yay! I got the eggnog latte and they actually used eggnog. They also have a cinnamon fig latte and they make the syrup in-house with actual common and figs. Woah, gotta try it the next time. Along with the latte, we got an almond croissant and a double chocolate chip cookie. The latte was hot and delicious. The cookie had a crunchy edge but a soft chocolatey middle topped with bits of coffee beans. Oh yum. The almond croissant was disappointing. It was made with almond essence and it was way too strong to the effect it had a chemical taste to it. Other stuff: They have a reward system where you get a point per visit if you spend a minimum of $3. 10 points gets you $3 off. The tables to the side of the store are beautiful painted. Well with all the bad reviews just had to see for myself, right? The good: nice seating area, though quite small for a large business. Coffee wasn't bitter. The bad: espresso machine was NFG, so I could only drink drip. Still, not terrible coffee, and not bitter. Scone was STALE, almost impossible to eat. Coffee was served so high to the top of my cup it was immediately overflowing and spilling, had I been driving it would have been a real issue, but lots of napkins later and we are good. But what's with the servers insisting on putting the cream in your drink? This isn't exclusive to this place, many places are doing it, but people are really specific about what they want their ratio to be. Why add unnecessary friction to customer relations? I really don't get it. For myself I always ask for a tiny amount of cream, I say it two different ways and I make hand gestures. Success rate? About 10%. This place is no different. So I've paid $3.50 for a coffee I didn't really want that is now 40% cream which I spilled all over their table and trying to eat an inedible scone because I paid $5 for it. Oh yeah, they charge an automatic 18% tip for this. Fun! Amazingly, NOT the worst I've had, but yeah, the reviews of this place didn't lie. Very sad that my next attempt at coffee in this town will be at Starbucks, something I'm morally opposed to since I always want to support local establishments. Even if their espresso machine worked today I'm not sure I can bear coming back. read more

The coffee was incredible and they had a ton of non-dairy options for same. And they had a lot of other vegan food choices, which I really appreciate. Bathroom was spotless and the place is very cute, with indoor and outdoor seating. Con: So, so busy. I waited around 20 minutes for a toasted bagel with cream cheese. No one was standing around, the staff were working hard and there were a ton of them. So why so long? I noticed two different areas for mobile app pickup. The entire time I waited, those areas were filling up with food and drink, yet not one delivery person came in to fetch anything. I wish they had on line ordering for customer pickup, so I could place my order on the train on my way there. I'm not an inpatient person and am often happy to wait and play on my phone, but in this instance I had an appointment so was under a time crunch and was a little thrown off waiting that long for a simple order. read more

Visited Pavement Coffeehouse on Saturday afternoon. It is a beautiful space with tasty coffee, but expect higher prices and slow service. Quality: After a late start to the day, stopped for coffee and a snack at Pavement Coffeehouse. It is a lovely location with a fun menu with both standard coffee shop options, but also some more inventive drinks and upscale food items. I just went with an Iced Coffee, which I was very happy with. For food, I ordered the Lox & Lemon Dill on an Everything Bagel. It combined salmon with lemon-dill cream cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers. I was not thrilled with the bagel itself, but the sandwich ingredients were great. The lemon-dill was a very fun flavor that melded well with the salmon. Quantity: Typical sizes for everything, and I was happy with the amount of lox on my bagel. Value: $3.75 for an Iced Coffee. $9.75 for the Lox & Lemon Dill. Ambiance: We visited the Pavement Coffeehouse in the Allston area of Boston. It is a beautiful little shop inside and out, which is definitely part of the appeal. They have a few shaded tables on a patio out front. Then an open space inside, with some seating and plenty of sunlight. It was not a surprise to see people with books, newspapers, and computers settled in. The music was relaxing and the shop had a wonderful aroma. They also managed to limit the amount of coffee noise from behind the counter, which was impressive considering how many drinks were coming out. Crowd: We visited around noon on Saturday and it was quite busy. A bunch of folks sitting outside on a lovely afternoon, and a line to the door. However, part of the reason there were so many people was how slow everything was, both ordering and construction. Service: Very friendly staff, but everything moved extremely slowly. This place is hopping on Head of the Charles weekend. Probably the busiest few days of the year for it as it's located near the banks of the Race course close to the finish line. That weekends early on there'll be a line to order and bodies rotating in and out of seats. Had a large drip coffee that was solid but not worth $17 for a pound of beans to take home. This is not my first time there and always go there but I'm considering not bringing business to Pavement any longer. The wait is unbelievably awful, 25-30 minutes to get a bagel sandwich which is unreasonable to me. And it happens every single time, and I know I'm not the only one with the face of "OMG WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG". I seriously believe that we go to this place because we don't have another option around the area. Also I wanna point out that, this is not a employees fault but management fault. This little coffee shop is perfectly placed in a quiet part of Lower Allston - there's not much around, but it's a great place for a coffee, chat, or lunch. It usually isn't too busy inside, they have some shared table space, a few small tables, and a high top bar near the window. There's also a few tables outside when it's warm. I usually get the Iced Matcha Lattes with oat milk (basic, I know!), and I love them. Trying to start making my own lattes at home though because I'm ADDICTED and they're a bit on the expensive side with the custom milk options. The last time I stopped by, I ordered the Turkey BLT sandwich to-go, and added my own avocado when I got home. Overall, sandwich was pretty good and was great for a quick lunch. I really enjoy the breakfast sandwiches here; however, a coffee shop must have a good croissant, and Pavement's is meh. I'm not sure if they use real butter, but it just tastes like bread. :( The coffee is good, less strong than, say, Starbucks coffee. It is also roasted well, so I never taste the burnt taste that I often associate with Starbucks.
