    Roaches in the counter
    Donneia D.

Omg I just had the most horrible experience. Let me say I frequent this place often and always ordered the wings! Walked in and there were 2 small roaches on the counter were the bar stools are. So I walked to the counter where you order/pick up food and had a roach drop in front of me and 4 roaches crawling in the edge of the boarders!!!! My skin crawled! OMG!! Then I look around and seen roaches of all sizes on the floor and under the tables, in corners! I told the lady "Ma'am do you know you have roaches everywhere?!" She said "yes, they sprayed, now they are all coming out. They will be gone soon." Like what the hell you sprayed them with? Water?! Because they are not dead! She then rudely ask me "So do you want the food or not?" Ummm no, thank you ma'am! I understand places have roaches you can't see. You can't stop critters from coming into a building, it's impossible but this right here is unsatisfactory and unsanitary! That place should have closed until the roaches have cleared and the place has been cleaned. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

Went to Raul's at 9:35 they said they were closed and the sign on the door said 10:00 pm. Sad but they want your business!

I went for the lunch buffet for $13.99 and feel like the BR location def has more options than the NOLA location (I haven't been to that spot in over a year though). There are some seafood options during lunch (salt and pepper crab, salmon, assortment of fish, and mussels) but if you want a wider variety, dinner is the way to go. I didn't try the sushi because the majority of them were always wiped out but the chefs in the back were doing their best to replenish whenever they could. Nothing to extraordinary with the sushi, I feel like you could get most of em at the grocery store. My favs at lunch were hands down the salmon and the baked mussels w cheese on top. The salmon was SEASONED SO WELL and I just kept going back for more. The mussels and cheese was def a hit too bc I could see the chefs restock every so often. There's unlimited boba (not included in the buffet) and I had the mango, which tasted watered down to me. The ice cream was amazing, got a mix of the taro and mango. The cakes were extremely dry and the mousse was the only thing saving it from totally crumbling in my mouth. For the most part, the food was piping hot, but there were a few options that were cold when I ate them, hence the 4 stars. The staff were incredibly sweet and would clean tables immediately after someone would leave.

The crawfish were flavorful, seasoned well, and priced right, which is honestly the perfect combination when you're sitting down ready to eat. They had that messy, not really spicy, addictive quality that keeps you reaching for "just one more" until the tray is empty. I also tried the buffalo wings. They weren't that great, if I'm being honest, but I was hungry so they got the job done. The crawfish are clearly the star of the show here anyway. The atmosphere felt relaxed and unpretentious, exactly the kind of place you want for seafood with friends, cold drinks, and a table full of shells piling up by the minute. If you're wondering whether I'll be back, I already have.

Both appetizers were not good crab fingers were fresh and unseasoned served with a cheese sauce that wasn't good either , hush puppies were small and hard. Nickel size not half a dollar size. The restaurant was full due to the holiday, it was clean and it was comfortable with all parties there.

I have been here several times and it is one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge for great flavorful food. The food was amazing and great. For an appetizer, I had a dozen of their chargrilled oysters. You can see the smoke and smell them cooking them on the way in. They have this amazing butter sauce packed with tons of flavor and it is served with their French bread to soak up that butter! Some other appetizers we got were their fried eggplant with marinara sauce and their buffalo wings which are so good. For my main entree, I got their blackened shrimp pasta which was seasoned well and came with garlic bread. My twin got their hamburger steak and it was delicious. Some drinks I got for the night were their old fashioned and their Long Island iced tea. The ambiance is nice and perfect for a family outing or to celebrate graduation in my case. This will always be a restaurant I will coming back to. The service was great and Chance was amazing the entire time accommodating our large party! Thanks so much.

I literally lost my appetite after I took a bite of shrimp in their Eggplant Supreme dish. Never in decades of eating out have I had an establishment serve me what I got tonight. The shrimp had a big shrimp on top of the bite that I took, under it were several smaller shrimp, completely dry, stuck together. And they ... crunched. I spit them out, they tasted like dried, week old shrimp. Simply awful. I love a night out for dinner but I literally lost my appetite. The restaurant response was as bad. The waitress took the plate. No apology. Nothing from the kitchen other than, do you want something else? City Cafe must have way too much business to serve a dish like this and not say a word back. I'm not a shrinking violet but damn, a simple sorry might have been nice.

We were in a large alcove at the back of the restaurant. It was spacious and elegant, even with the table ended up being almost entirely filled. Our waiter was enthusiastic and patient with our large party. Refills and check-ins were timed well. The drink selection was pretty extensive. Food was delicious and all delivered within minutes of one another (no one was stuck waiting for long). Burger was cooked to perfection and not TOO hot. I hate when food is so hot in temperature that you can't take a bite. The chocolate cake was good, but the whip cream tasted kinda fake/oily. The cake itself was medium density and had a slightly salted finish. It paired perfectly with the frosting which was very rich and extra sweet. A delightful pairing. For my drink, plus a double shot of whiskey, the burger and dessert, it came to just over $100. That feels expensive. Take that as you will. I wouldn't return mostly due to price. But quality on everything was great, and so was the service. Atmosphere was great too.

Ambiance was good. -2 stars because we sat at the bar on a Friday night and the bartenders were very lackluster. Barely spoke to us. The place wasn't overly busy either. We tried to make conversation and it fell flat every time. We enjoy making small talk with bartenders that's why we chose to sit there. Not sure if it was an off night or what. The lounge section was also closed due to a private party. Understandable but we wanted to have an after dinner cocktail. Overall we'd go back and sit at a regular table.
