This place is around our neighborhood so I decided to give it a shot. My husband told me that the place was obviously under new management because he got a sandwich there before the bridge closed. The two stars are for the gumbo which was pretty good. Sometimes, a place tries to reinvent the wheel in an effort to distinguish themselves. I will NEVER order a poboy from here again. I ordered a shrimp poboy and my husband ordered hot sausage. First of all, there were six shrimp on my poboy. There was also MUSTARD AND ONIONS on my SHRIMP poboy. WHY?!!?! Omg I just had the most horrible experience. Let me say I frequent this place often and always ordered the wings! Walked in and there were 2 small roaches on the counter were the bar stools are. So I walked to the counter where you order/pick up food and had a roach drop in front of me and 4 roaches crawling in the edge of the boarders!!!! My skin crawled! OMG!! Then I look around and seen roaches of all sizes on the floor and under the tables, in corners! I told the lady "Ma'am do you know you have roaches everywhere?!" She said "yes, they sprayed, now they are all coming out. They will be gone soon." Like what the hell you sprayed them with? Water?! Because they are not dead! She then rudely ask me "So do you want the food or not?" Ummm no, thank you ma'am! I understand places have roaches you can't see. You can't stop critters from coming into a building, it's impossible but this right here is unsatisfactory and unsanitary! It's called Paul's Deli now! I went there this weekend to check it out! They totally upgraded! The inside looks really clean and they take cards now! I order the monster double meat shrimp burger and it was absolutely amazing! I also ordered wings and these wings are by far bigger than the old ones from Rauls! The ladies were really nice too! So, this place has opened & closed and changed owners like 50-11 times. I decided to take a chance today since they opened back up AGAIN. Renovations were done AGAIN and it's very nice & clean. I even considered staying there to eat my food. I ordered the lemon pepper wings. They were really good (slightly too salty for my liking but hey, it's wings!). They are regular fried wings (not breaded) with a tangy lemon pepper seasoning. Fries were fried perfectly but unseasoned (I added it at home. I also ordered a side of fried okra which I must say is reasonably priced compared to other places I get fried okra from. Then I also ordered the shrimp yaka mein. I haven't had yaka mein in forever and have never had it from anyone in B.R. It was on point, steaming hot broth, tender spaghetti-like noodles, I can tell the shrimp were fresh, and a boiled egg, fresh green onion. I asked them to spice it medium and it was just right. Raul's is one of those places that people would never think to visit . The location is suspect, and the outside exterior is less than inviting. I like to call these "hole in the wall restaurants". Some of the best food is found in these types of places, and Raul's is no exception. They have the best burgers, homemade ground meat, then they top your burger with grilled onions, peppers, &shrimp! Ohhhh so good! I also really enjoy the grilled chicken and shrimp salad, with cheese, and grilled onions and peppers. This place is definitely worth a try if you are a foodie. read more

We came here at the advice of an LSU employee. She warned us that it was a dive but site they had the best hamburgers. So, we ordered the Jalapeño Burger and Buffalo Wings. Both were well priced, but really that didn't make it sit any better. The burger came out quickly, but that's because it has been cooked and sitting in au jus all day. It just had that old beef flavor. Another thing we didn't think to ask was about condiments. In retrospect we should have figured that out since the tables are 100% empty except for paper towels. Is ketchup theft a big thing here? So the burger was swimming in ketchup and mustard. This was a problem since my daughter HATES mustard. We felt like that was our concern though and wiped out of as best we could. The complimentary fries were pulled out of a plastic bag and plopped in the plate. Cold, soggy and just nasty. Chicken wings? Ugh. They were cooked to the bare minimum so that the chicken skin which should be at least a little crispy was so rubbery, I really expected the chicken to be still raw. Thank God it wasn't. Just gross. Next, don't use their bathroom unless you are DESPERATE. It has no AC. Translation = hot, moist, sticky, dirty. They provide a great product for a great price. Definitely worth trying if you're hungry. They portion are big and service is fast and friendly. My favorites are shrimp po-boy, hamburger and French Fries and Yaka Mein. read more

Food is always fresh, and they have the best handmade burgers. Everything is seasoned to perfection. Your wait can sometimes be a bit long, but that's the price you pay for quality! Try the shrimp burger or catfish poboy when you go there you won't regret it. read more

They have the best burgers in town! The shrimp burgers with extra cheese add jalapeños. YUMM!!

The food was good but there were dead roaches in the tray of the ice machine and the ice machine looked like it needed a good cleaning. I asked if this was the same as the other rauls and they said yes. Now in hindsight, when I yelped the place I misspelled rouls and didn't get the same experience at all. ***DONT EAT HERE***....The girls that answer the phone are very rude and unprofessional and this is when they answer the phone. I called repeatedly to place an order and someone kept picking up the phone and slamming it down. I continued to call as I was not properly dressed to go to a restaurant and wanted the fish and shrimp. Finally someone answered took the order and when I got there to pick it up my plate was laying open on the counter as they wiped and cleaned over it. The next occasion(you would have thought I'd learned) I called to place a 1/2 hot 1/2 fried wing plate. I was rudely told 'we don't do that'. I advised that I ordered this before the girl stated 'I'm new this is my 1st day and I don't know'. I placed the order 1/2 and 1/2 25 piece $4 more than usual order, got there and the 2 girls were on the phone and playing around. I looked over and my food was just sitting over the grease even though they said 15 mins ...it was about 20. The same girl that took the order complained the whole time about her feet hurting and how she was ready to be off. She then proceeded to fix my plate and dropped several of the wings.
