Rouses has a beautiful selection of groceries.... Their baked goos, Deli and ready to eat counters are always clean and look so yummy. I am in Social security so prices are big high for me to shop there all the time. I also have to say their staff leaves much to be desired. I enjoyed the shrimp dinner here. The shrimp were seasoned well and you get a pretty good amount of them. They are the smaller sized shrimp, so be aware of that. The dinner is basically a deconstructed po-boy (shrimp, lettuce/tomato salad with ranch dressing, a piece of French bread & tarter sauce) and but a bit more expensive. Either way, it'll satisfy your craving. The dinner also includes a beverage and fries, by the way. The young lady at the drive-thru was also very nice, which was awesome. They cook to order, so there is a little bit of a wait, but I don't mind waiting, if it means my food will be fresh. Now, this is a "divey" kind of spot, so don't expect 5-star dining....this ain't that. It is just a simple, no-frills spot..plain and simple. Not impressed. I ordered 3 Poboy combos. The two Philly cheesesteak were more bread than anything. The catfish poboy was the only one worth buying. $52 for empty poboys! We found ourselves in Walker Louisiana about 8PM and hungry. Yelp steered us to Sherwood. I'm not a Po Boy lover because usually the roll is just too bready and tasteless. That wasn't the case here, it was more than just something to hold the food in place. The bun is just the right thickness with a smidge of sweetness to it and both my wife and I thought it tasted exceptional. My wife had the Oyster PB and they were fried perfectly and still moist with the briny taste of the sea. I ordered the Catfish knowing the protein portion would be bigger than the Oysters and hoping it would stand up to a too bready roll. Of course it was portioned perfectly paired with the delicious roll. Po Boys are offered in a half or whole sandwich. We ordered by phone and picked up at the drive through minutes later. After finishing up work and heading back to Lafayette. I decided to give this location a try after trying the one in Baton Rouge. I had the catfish poboy which was not as good as I expected. It had a good crust but had absolutely no flavor. They use french bread which is already tough but this one was extra tough. My chewing this bread reminded me of a cow chewing its cud.My jaw got tired from all that chewing. I've eaten at both locations I must say the Baton Rouge location was better. Unfortunately, I had the Philly cheesesteak here and now I hate it everywhere else!! My wife loves the cheeseburgers here, the meat is very well seasoned. Another thing that we like about this restaurant is the fact that ALL 4 of our kids like the food too!! Now that's something worth yelping about!! Then I found Sherwood.... ugh... This is a little place, very cute, right off the highway. The staff was very friendly, but this is where my liking stops. We shared some fried pickles and I ordered the Roast Beef with Gravy and the Hubster got the Fried Shrimp Poboy. Both were on chewy French bread and came dressed with lettuce, mayo and tomatoes. My poboy had about 3 slices of thin roast beef... I swear they got it from the freezer section at the grocery store. IT WAS SOOOO SALTY. They gravy wasn't too good, either. Hubster's poboy was very light on the shrimp and it wasn't hardly seasoned. The pickles were the best thing we ate. Have been a customer for a long time. Food has always been good. I understand the concerns everyone has with COVID and the governor's restrictions for restaurants. Sherwood Poboy has installed plexiglass at the counter just like most places. I eat 90% of my meals at restaurants. I comply with wearing a mask to enter the business, but when I am told I have to have my mask on to place my order that's where I draw the line. No other restaurant I dine in requires me to do that. Great little hole in the wall po-boy place just past Baton Rouge. We parked the RV at Wallyworld and walked to Sherwood . Very good poboys, cheap and fast. Highly recommend it. A great place to stop on the way to Oxford, MS or wherever. I'd go 5 stars if they had beer. read more

Although it is obvious to go through the speaker area after you have called in your order to let them no you are there, your note on your window stating DO NOT (underscored 2 times) go directly to the window because you would not know they were there!!! (several exclamation marks) I think this is very rude and condescending on your part treating your paying customers like they are ignoramuses. Wouldn't it be nice, while you are taking their order, to simply advise them to do this, rather than display such an unflattering sign? Have eaten ther once went back last night to get some poboys. Called them from 8 to 8:30 before I drove up there to physically place my order since they refused to answer the phone when I called. I arrived at 8:45 and the lady said oh its pick up only were closed and not taking any orders. I got hot and drove around. Now keep in mind there's 5 employees in the store. 2 were sitting down on their phone texting people so I called them again sitting right in their face they continued to play on their phone and ignore me. Beyond horrible service and thet had plenty of time so I called the one in Denham at 8:50 she let me place an order and even stayed an extra minute and a half past closing to do my order and she was super nice and understanding. There was only roughly 3 workers there to. They did their job and with a smile. While the one in walker slammed the door in my face, was being rude, and wouldn't even bother doing their job. I didn't expect greatness, but I seriously cannot believe we paid for the food we received here tonight. I had a grilled chicken salad (again, did not expect a 5 star salad) that was shredded ice berg, dry grilled chicken and shredded mozzarella cheese. No additional toppings as the menu stated and no dressing! The Shrimp poboy was also awful. The shrimp was okay (just okay) but the sandwich was bad.
