Pretzel Bytes
Emily D.

This rating is based on my first visit and considers the environment, staff, food, and (of course) beer. I really, really want to give Agile Brewing 5 stars, but there were just a few issues I had with my first visit. This place is CUTE! When you approach the location it feels like you're heading to abandoned warehouses, but honestly, that's the vibe of any good microbrewery! This was a check-plus in my book! The place itself is small, yet airy with a giant screen for people to watch that day's LSU game (at least it was for me) while seated at one of the many tables. I believe there were also 2 TVs over at the bar area if you're into that. The staff were absolutely amazing and kind, even though I clearly was a total novice at ordering my beer flight (your choice of 4 5oz. pours). Our bartender also gave my hubby the thumbs up on his food choice. All around - super nice people. The food is where I had my issue. I ordered pretzel bytes (totally delicious) and a chicken bacon ranch wrap; my hubby ordered an Oktoberfest special (a brat burger, which he loved). Each food item came out in its own container. My wrap looked like someone had dropped the container; it was a hot mess with the contents not totally inside the wrap. This probably could have been avoided with the careful placement of toothpicks to hold everything together. The chicken was also super dry and the wrap didn't have enough sauce to balance that out. I did eat everything because I was hungry, but I wouldn't order this item again unless it goes through a bit of an update. The beer is amazing and there are so many different things to choose from, which I always appreciate. You can enjoy IPAs, hard seltzer, browns, stouts, sours, you name it! And from what I tried, they were all great! I somehow ended up only ordering the fruity (::Ahem:: girly) options: Lemon Buffer (my favorite - reminiscent of the old Lemonheads candies), Code Lime (literally a seltzer for margarita lovers), Witty Core (solid sour - I picked watermelon as my flavor), and Sign In Seltzer (disappointingly not as fizzy as I wanted and I made the mistake of the mojito flavor - I would not recommend). The prices are also very reasonable. So there you have it! I would definitely go back!

I literally found this little gem hidden in the back of an industrial complex area, and I have to say, it was worth the finding. If you want many open options of beers, burgers/tacos/apps, and a good time, come check this brewery out! 1. Primo Burger: Caramelized onions and brew house sauce with pepper jack cheese. 2. Locked & Loaded Taters: Both shoe string and tater tots with bacon, sour cream, jalapeño smothered in beer queso. 3. Nashville Hot fried chicken sliders with Extra Extra spicy requested. 4. Witty core watermelon sour ale. #LambChopOnTheGeaux #burger #brewery #agilebrewing #agilebrewery #batonrougela #beer https://agile.beer/ 14141 Airline Hwy Suite 4J, Baton Rouge, LA 70817

Nice open atmosphere, pet friendly, great selection on tap, bar food available. Special brew for the local festivities, benefits their chosen charity. Highly recommend.

This is a great place for beer lovers and there are some things for non-beer lovers too. With a minimum of 20 different beers on tap at any one time, it's a GREAT place to get a beer-ducation! From lighter lagers, attainable ambers, to yeasty Belgians, to darker browns and stouts, all the way to the various IPAs from coast to coast, and their trendy sours and seltzers, you can find any style that suits your tastes! Also, if you're overwhelmed with the selection, there are 20-sided dice at the bar to let random selection occur for you! Staff is friendly and they're also there to help you decide, being knowledgeable about the brews. But don't forget the food truck outside! BREW BYTES BISTRO has excellent American pub food and burgers for you to choose from! Agile holds events and specials pretty much all week long and they have expanded their hours to seven days a week at the time I'm writing this--so there's always a good time to come try it out!

Fried Oreos

Food is fresh and tasty. It's also affordable and friendly service. They brew their own beer. Had the stout and it was good.

This is a great hidden gem. Many beers to choose from. All brewed here. They also had a seltzers. Burgers and sliders cooked to order and was delicious. Looking forward to going back.

Beer flight

We got a beer flight. Margarita seltzer, blueberry buffer, abbey window and backspace blond. My fav was the margarita and hubbys favorite was the backspace blond. Also there is food available to order here at the brewery. I got the Birria Tacos super good. Hubby got the Memphis hot chicken and he loved it.

Classic version and narrow path pils

Great beer, excellent service! Worth the drive to find this hidden gem! Relax atmosphere

I wasn't looking for anything specific to eat but this place called to me so I whipped into the parking lot and headed in! This is such a homey type of place that puts a lot of pride and joy in their food and showing off Latin culture. Los Alvarez Exxpress Latin Food is a local mom and pop spot on the corner of Gardere and Burbank next to the S&P Food Store/Chevron gas station. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect going in but what I got was a lot of warmth and comfort. This is a place for Latin locals to relax and get a bit of familiarity and good food. I dined in and ordered the Granadas Catrachas. Catrachas are traditionally known as Honduran tostadas. Los Alvarez puts their spin on it by using Granada flour to create a puff pocket and stuff it with meat, rice and cheese and serve it with encurtido (Honduran pickled vegetables). I ordered one with chicken and one with beef. The serving was huge and absolutely delicious! I was only able to eat one. That, on top of the chips and salsa and black bean dip had me full for the rest of the day! Everyone that works there is friendly and for a second you don't feel like you're in Baton Rouge. This is a magical place.

I will go back and continue to try a new dishes ! But they also have tacos and burritos. The drinks were good too!!! Service was awesome. Gloria was our waitress and she provided some assistance with the choices made. We ate in the bar area. It wasn't spicy like most salsa that I taste, but it also had a different flavor. I couldn't really put my finger on what the difference was, but it was really good. I ordered the Carne Asada and it was 10 out of 10 for presentation. The dish came steaming, sizzling and smoking as they sat it down and it continued to do so for over a minute. While the steak was cooked properly, medium well as I requested, it was very tough. Maybe it was an angry cow. Regardless, the staff was very attentive. And the service was very fast. Ambience was nice and it felt very comfortable although it was a bit cold so I had to go and get a jacket for my mom and my sister-in-law. I would give them another try the next time I'm in the area. The menu had a few options that I would be interested in.

I haven't been here for at least seven maybe possibly 10 years since Renee Ortlieb was the owner…read more The reason I came back to try it today was because after a visit to La Mexicana a few days ago only to learn it has closed (and it had become my staple for the area of authentic Mexican). To my surprise, la Tienda Latina is a Honduran restaurant. To my taste Honduran food is blander then real Mexican food. After reading the reviews, I ordered a Mexican coke and an appetizer while I looked at the menu. The friendly English speaking waitress brought salsa and chips to the table, along with my Coke and ample sized appetizer. Shortly after she returned with the Honduran tamale ( chose pork vs chicken). She also brought two condiment bottles of homemade sauces, both green tomatillo and red chili .. both very standard at authentic places. The salsa and chips were nice and fresh tasting and I particularly liked the green sauce with the tamale sauce. Realizing how much food this was already I decided just to order a side of refried beans and some Mexican Crema, which was actually perfect, and I had food to bring home because I only ate half of the tamale and about a fourth of the beans which were delicious. The tamale did need extra flavor although it was packed with potatoes and rice and chunks of cooked roast type pork, and a few peas I think. For the price I think it's quite a bargain to fill up on. However, I filled up quickly by drinking a second Mexican Coke, and had an extra order of the salsa with the chips. I dipped the chips in the beans which were absolutely probably my favorite dish of all. La Tienda won't replace the flavors and menu formerly offered at La Mexicana. I'll have to find another place that has similar type food, but I did enjoy my experience here. However Hondorian food isn't what I get cravings for. Yet, the restaurant was tidy and clean, although I didn't go to the restroom, which is always very telling of how clean a restaurant is. Btw, I know Mexican cokes are usually very pricey, but the idea of paying eight dollars for two medium (quantity) cokes is annoying, but the price of on tap cold drinks has gone up significantly as well around the Baton Rouge area, so often I just have to order water in order to enjoy a sit down meal eating out without paying a total cost of what I used to consider to be premium dinner time treat when I'm just looking for a quick afternoon lunch. Due to my budget lunch (appetizer & 2 sides) selection today I went ahead & ordered a 2nd bottle, and quite enjoyed it, and therefore I have leftovers to enjoy later. I will keep reading other food reviews made here so I can return again and try something else and just maybe I'll find a new favorite!

Immediately upon walking in, I loved all of the colors and the vibes of this Mexican restaurant. When you sit down, they bring chips and salsa to your table. I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa or the chips. The chips had some seasoning on them and to me, it didn't mix well with the salsa. The salsa was really thin, and I prefer a chunky salsa with a salted thick chip lol. I was feeling adventurous and got the French toast on the brunch menu. It was delicious! The berry compote and the two different syrups paired really well with it. The bacon that it came with was perfection. I ate every last bite. I did have a bite of my friends tacos, and they were good but on smaller side in my opinion. Our waitress was great and there were plenty of tvs to watch while we waited. This is definitely Tex-Mex rather than traditional Mexican, but it hits the spot if that's what you're craving. The real standout is the decor and ambiance, especially after renovating and expanding. It's a fantastic space to hang out and chitchat with friends over dinner. The service has always been great and efficient for me. I can't remember the server I often got - maybe Joshua? Their yearly Cinco de Mayo party is also always fun and a vibe! Overall, still a solid spot in Baton Rouge for Tex-Mex and close to LSU campus.
