Barracuda's #1 fan right here! I have never had a bad experience here. The tacos are SO delicious. The staff is friendly. The vibes are great. The space is cute. All around 10/10. I don't live here but whenever I visit BTR, this is ALWAYS a must stop. I've done road trips & done a quick detour stop in BTR to grab some tacos to go. I even bought some of their merch - that's how much I love this place.

I needed to updated this review to let y'all know Barracuda is still at the top of my list for tacos. They haven't missed yet!!!!! My go to are now the beef and chicken tacos with crema and pickled onions. I also like that now the picked onions now have jalapeños in them! Now the rice is always a miss for me. It doesn't taste like anything to me. I've noticed that my favorite drink the frozen mango one has disappeared from the menu. I hope it returns for the summer. I still need y'all to make it so that I can order more than 1 extra shot of mezcal please.. Other than that keep up the amazing work!

I went here with my bf during the spring, and while it was warm it was still nice enough to sit outside midday and enjoy the weather. Being that the seating is outside, it is definitely something to think about before going. You order at the window and food is brought to you. While it was busy, the line to order moved by quickly and I think the prices were reasonable for what we ordered. We ordered queso and chips, I got a bowl and we got a pitcher of margaritas. Everything was delicious and fresh. The queso had pepitas on it which added a unique crunch and the queso tasted like it had been made in house versus out of a can. The food was fresh and the margaritas were too, and definitely packed a punch. I would recommend going here and will be going back.

I always love barracuda for a quick lunch- this was the special shrimp taco and it was probably my favorite that I have tried from here! I should have ordered more!

The food is AMAZING. It felt great outside. This is outside only, hints "Taco Stand". They are cashless, the guy did tell us we will take cash it just needs to be exact change. There are multiple fans blowing. Also pet friendly. The rice is different I can't put my finger on it but it was delicious. Now I'm a Chipotle lover, however I would choose this place every time. This could be a 1st date or just hang out with friends or family. Parking is a bit crazy though. We went a bit later in the day, the line goes pretty quick. Grab your number and have a seat they will bring it to you. They did forget my corn, however I just went to the window and showed my receipt and they gave it no problem. My food was so good I almost forgot about the corn. I will definitely be back.

Finally stopped by for lunch today, after hearing the past few years how great it is. I ordered four different tacos: pork, beef, shrimp, and fish. Of the four, the fish was my favorite. That said, I didn't consider any of them to be "great." They were all ok/good, but I certainly wasn't thinking to myself, "These are the best tacos I've ever had!" like some people had told me. Overall I'd rate it 3.5 stars. Glad I tried it, but doubt I'll ever go back.

So, I have to honest. My first time eating at Barracuda, I felt like the tacos were just okay. Since returning, the tacos are fresh, hot when served, meat is tender and juicy. Everything is just delicious! I've been back at least 3 times in the last 2 months and I can't wait to go back again! The patio is perfect for the summer evening, even though it's still hot. They have plenty of fans and misters to keep you cool. Last time, I tried the pork taco, a change from my usual chicken and beef taco. Omg, I wish I would have tried it sooner! Definitely juicy, tender, and flavorful. Now I'm going to have a hard time choosing next time! I only wish there was more parking because that's the only con to this location. Even that won't stop me from enjoying these tacos! This place has easily become me and my husband's favorite laidback date night! See you in a couple of weeks!

Great tacos and the green salsa is amazing. Queso was average we added some salsa macha and it gave it an amazing flavor. Plenty of outdoor seating is great for a hangout spot.

Super great and inventive tacos!! I love the fish taco and the chicken taco. The pomegranate seeds on the fish taco just make it. Lots of seating all outdoors so perfect for a pretty day. Lots of greenery and a cute plant shop next door.

I love this open air taco stand in Mid-City. Attached to a nursery, it's a great place to gather on a brisk fall day or evening, grab their classic marg, and enjoy some tasty and pretty unique tacos. I've been here a few times, and I have quickly found three go-to tacos that go beyond the regular pork, beef, and chicken options. The mushroom taco is topped with a spicy sauce, and I got mine "delux" with some beans and topping for just an extra $1.50. It was really good and filling. I also really enjoy the fish taco - again with a spicy sauce. So much flavor and again, really filling. Another one I took a chance on was the broccoli taco -- that was delish with the flavor of a grilled broccoli and charred ends. The classic marg is a great drink to go along with your meal. I have also heard the paloma is a good choice. I imagine during the summertime, it may be a bit oppressive with the heat, but there are covers throughout the area to provide some shade. Staff is really helpful too, and they will suggest various items to help you. Parking can be difficult as the lots are fairly small. However, there is street parking close by - just don't pull in anyone's yard. For some reason, some of the Mid-City residents don't realize we have a street-parking friendly neighborhood, so I was glared at and some neighbors have made public comments, but maybe they should embrace what the neighborhood has to offer.

First visit to Barracuda, and I can confidently say it's now my new favorite spot for tacos in town! I started with the chips and queso and both were delicious. I then had a chicken taco and a steak taco and they were both amazing. The meat was perfectly seasoned and you could really taste how fresh everything was. Both tacos were served on a fresh flour tortilla with cilantro, onion, and lime. I also tried their homemade limeade and it was incredibly refreshing--definitely a must-try. The service was quick and friendly and the outdoor seating area had a great vibe. The only downside is that parking is a bit limited. All in all, everything about this place was fantastic and I can't wait to dine here again. Highly recommend it if you're a taco lover!

The best tacos I have ever had! Barracuda is such a great spot for tacos. They have lots to offer including delicious vegetarian options. I always get the mushroom taco and the broccoli taco. They're my absolute favorite. There's lot of seating at this establishment. You walk up to the window and order and then sit outside. The Paloma's there was really great too! Every time I visit Baton Rouge I always get Barracuda multiple times.

I wasn't looking for anything specific to eat but this place called to me so I whipped into the parking lot and headed in! This is such a homey type of place that puts a lot of pride and joy in their food and showing off Latin culture. Los Alvarez Exxpress Latin Food is a local mom and pop spot on the corner of Gardere and Burbank next to the S&P Food Store/Chevron gas station. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect going in but what I got was a lot of warmth and comfort. This is a place for Latin locals to relax and get a bit of familiarity and good food. I dined in and ordered the Granadas Catrachas. Catrachas are traditionally known as Honduran tostadas. Los Alvarez puts their spin on it by using Granada flour to create a puff pocket and stuff it with meat, rice and cheese and serve it with encurtido (Honduran pickled vegetables). I ordered one with chicken and one with beef. The serving was huge and absolutely delicious! I was only able to eat one. That, on top of the chips and salsa and black bean dip had me full for the rest of the day! Everyone that works there is friendly and for a second you don't feel like you're in Baton Rouge. This is a magical place.

I guess I'm used to the more Americanized dips--this queso was literally queso (cheese) melted and served in a sizzling fajita skillet. I didn't dislike it, but for me, it was kind of bland. Plus, you'll want to eat it as quickly as possible before it firms up and you can't dip it anymore. But, not too quickly or you will lose some taste buds. Aside from the queso, I went the Honduran route for my meal, ordering three things that I thought would be MUCH smaller since they were quite inexpensive. Having eaten my fill of chips, queso, and salsa (which had quite the kick), I was only able to finish one of the three items I ordered--the tortilla con quesillo. I also ordered a cheese pupusa and a tamal hondureño. I could have made a meal from the tamale alone. It was wrapped in a leaf and filled with pork, green peas, and I believe rice and potatoes. Everything was made fresh to order and served "surface of the sun"-hot. In addition to what I ordered (plus the queso), my daughter had a steak burrito and a barbacoa gordita. With tip, it was under $40, and we brought probably half of it home. The server was friendly. I had only been here once quite some time ago, but I hope to return soon and more often!

I haven't been here for at least seven maybe possibly 10 years since Renee Ortlieb was the owner…read more The reason I came back to try it today was because after a visit to La Mexicana a few days ago only to learn it has closed (and it had become my staple for the area of authentic Mexican). To my surprise, la Tienda Latina is a Honduran restaurant. To my taste Honduran food is blander then real Mexican food. After reading the reviews, I ordered a Mexican coke and an appetizer while I looked at the menu. The friendly English speaking waitress brought salsa and chips to the table, along with my Coke and ample sized appetizer. Shortly after she returned with the Honduran tamale ( chose pork vs chicken). She also brought two condiment bottles of homemade sauces, both green tomatillo and red chili .. both very standard at authentic places. The salsa and chips were nice and fresh tasting and I particularly liked the green sauce with the tamale sauce. Realizing how much food this was already I decided just to order a side of refried beans and some Mexican Crema, which was actually perfect, and I had food to bring home because I only ate half of the tamale and about a fourth of the beans which were delicious. The tamale did need extra flavor although it was packed with potatoes and rice and chunks of cooked roast type pork, and a few peas I think. For the price I think it's quite a bargain to fill up on. However, I filled up quickly by drinking a second Mexican Coke, and had an extra order of the salsa with the chips. I dipped the chips in the beans which were absolutely probably my favorite dish of all. La Tienda won't replace the flavors and menu formerly offered at La Mexicana. I'll have to find another place that has similar type food, but I did enjoy my experience here. However Hondorian food isn't what I get cravings for. Yet, the restaurant was tidy and clean, although I didn't go to the restroom, which is always very telling of how clean a restaurant is. Btw, I know Mexican cokes are usually very pricey, but the idea of paying eight dollars for two medium (quantity) cokes is annoying, but the price of on tap cold drinks has gone up significantly as well around the Baton Rouge area, so often I just have to order water in order to enjoy a sit down meal eating out without paying a total cost of what I used to consider to be premium dinner time treat when I'm just looking for a quick afternoon lunch. Due to my budget lunch (appetizer & 2 sides) selection today I went ahead & ordered a 2nd bottle, and quite enjoyed it, and therefore I have leftovers to enjoy later. I will keep reading other food reviews made here so I can return again and try something else and just maybe I'll find a new favorite!
