I went to Barracuda Taco Stand it was my first dining experience with them so tried mostly everything on the menu. Chicken quesadillas, beef tacos (flour and corn) chips, and queso, hibiscus drink. Family members had crispy fish tacos, beef, and and chorizo tacos and cocktails. Cocktails were good. The food was amazing seasoned well,very tasty with toppings, diced onions, and cilantro,green salsa perfect portion size. Food was so good we went back the next day and it was the same everything tasted great! The service was good staff was friendly there was a long line but you were served pretty fast or you can pre-order and pick up. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio where you can dine in also look forward to dining in soon. read more

Delicious delicious delicious. I stopped by for a lunch with my friends today because I've been hearing they are amazing and the food, the service, and the ambiance was amazing. The staff were amazing and so helpful. They have picnic tables and other tables outside with beautiful greenery. I ordered the chicken quesadilla which was loaded with this ooey gooey cheese that was perfect. I also got two of their crispy catfish tacos which was topped with onions, cilantro, and pomegranate seeds which added some nice acidity and sweetness to the tacos. I used their very tasty green sauce on top of them all and it was so delicious. For drinks, I got their classic margarita and their mangonada freeze. I know I will be back for sure. The only downside I must add about this place is their parking is very limited. Craving tacos and this place popped up while driving through. They had me at fish tacos! I also thought it was interesting that they put pomegranate seeds on their tacos. Never seen that before but it's a nice touch - gives a nice light sweetness to cut the savory. I ordered the fish taco and a mushroom taco. Loved them both but liked the fish taco more and was sad when it was over. They also have a strawberry puree special where you can add it to drinks and I added it to the lemonade. I needed to updated this review to let y'all know Barracuda is still at the top of my list for tacos. They haven't missed yet!!!!! My go to are now the beef and chicken tacos with crema and pickled onions. I also like that now the picked onions now have jalapeños in them! Now the rice is always a miss for me. It doesn't taste like anything to me. I've noticed that my favorite drink the frozen mango one has disappeared from the menu. I hope it returns for the summer. I went here with my bf during the spring, and while it was warm it was still nice enough to sit outside midday and enjoy the weather. Being that the seating is outside, it is definitely something to think about before going. You order at the window and food is brought to you. While it was busy, the line to order moved by quickly and I think the prices were reasonable for what we ordered. We ordered queso and chips, I got a bowl and we got a pitcher of margaritas. Everything was delicious and fresh. The queso had pepitas on it which added a unique crunch and the queso tasted like it had been made in house versus out of a can. The food was fresh and the margaritas were too, and definitely packed a punch. I would recommend going here and will be going back. read more

So, I have to honest. My first time eating at Barracuda, I felt like the tacos were just okay. Since returning, the tacos are fresh, hot when served, meat is tender and juicy. Everything is just delicious! I've been back at least 3 times in the last 2 months and I can't wait to go back again! The patio is perfect for the summer evening, even though it's still hot. They have plenty of fans and misters to keep you cool. Last time, I tried the pork taco, a change from my usual chicken and beef taco. Omg, I wish I would have tried it sooner! Definitely juicy, tender, and flavorful. Now I'm going to have a hard time choosing next time! I only wish there was more parking because that's the only con to this location. CUDA!! It's no secret if you look at my reviews that I'm on a taco journey: the best (and worst) of the NOLA/BR area. This one gets high marks. Granted, I've been here before, but since starting this gauntlet to round out 2025 I'm judging each place as if I've never been. Chicken taco - 10/10 (I really don't give these out so keep that in mind) "Special" Steak Taco - 6/10 I think these could have used a bit more seasoning Dip Trio - 7/10 the guacamole was excellent, salsa was well above average too; honestly tough to do with salsas. The queso... what happened here? Maybe a change in recipe but this one was abnormally thick (as soon as it hit the table) and the flavor was totally off. I love this open air taco stand in Mid-City. Attached to a nursery, it's a great place to gather on a brisk fall day or evening, grab their classic marg, and enjoy some tasty and pretty unique tacos. I've been here a few times, and I have quickly found three go-to tacos that go beyond the regular pork, beef, and chicken options. The mushroom taco is topped with a spicy sauce, and I got mine "delux" with some beans and topping for just an extra $1.50. It was really good and filling. I also really enjoy the fish taco - again with a spicy sauce. So much flavor and again, really filling. Another one I took a chance on was the broccoli taco -- that was delish with the flavor of a grilled broccoli and charred ends. The classic marg is a great drink to go along with your meal. I have also heard the paloma is a good choice. I imagine during the summertime, it may be a bit oppressive with the heat, but there are covers throughout the area to provide some shade. Staff is really helpful too, and they will suggest various items to help you. Parking can be difficult as the lots are fairly small. However, there is street parking close by - just don't pull in anyone's yard. For some reason, some of the Mid-City residents don't realize we have a street-parking friendly neighborhood, so I was glared at and some neighbors have made public comments, but maybe they should embrace what the neighborhood has to offer. read more

First visit to Barracuda, and I can confidently say it's now my new favorite spot for tacos in town! I started with the chips and queso and both were delicious. I then had a chicken taco and a steak taco and they were both amazing. The meat was perfectly seasoned and you could really taste how fresh everything was. Both tacos were served on a fresh flour tortilla with cilantro, onion, and lime. I also tried their homemade limeade and it was incredibly refreshing--definitely a must-try. The service was quick and friendly and the outdoor seating area had a great vibe. The only downside is that parking is a bit limited. Every time I order from here, I say to myself" you need to review it" and then I forget. Today is the day and I am going to glaze the heck out of this place! I order from here 1-2 times a week and have never had a bad taco. I stick mainly to chicken and vegetarian options and all are stellar. The broccoli taco is truly remarkable even vegetable haters would probably love it. I keep the green sauce in my freezer for a variety of uses. The queso is deceptively simple but it's a very well-made cheese sauce smooth and delicious. I'm a little surprised they don't have toreados, which would be a nice addition. It's clear all the sauces are well thought out and made in house. And anytime I can get a handmade corn tortilla, I'm in. The real kicker came today though. I have a love affair with their Mole taco. I knew it was limited time and dreaded the day it would go away. Alas today was that day, but the menu was not updated. So, I ordered one but they are no longer available. They subbed for a traditional chicken taco and and added the new special taco that replaced the mole. They also included a HANDWRITTEN apology and explanation along with advising the delivery driver. In a world where customers seem to be an afterthought, they took the time to make me feel valued and did their best to make it right. As if I didn't love this place enough, they managed to take it up a notch. Im a fan of this place, wish I lived closer. The outdoor seating is beautiful, there's plenty of shade, and there's fans that spray mist. The service is quick and efficient and everyone is super friendly. The green salsa great. My complaint is that there isn't a lot of variety, and honestly most of the tacos are pretty mid. I go there specifically to eat those perfect crispy fish tacos, and oh my god it's so worth it. However, I'm from Houston and I'm pretty critical when it comes to street tacos. So I think that may be why I feel like some people here get unnecessarily hyped about the food. There are definitely some actual authentic Mexican joints around the city, but they're small, and the food alone their draw. Counter service is relatively quick and easy, but getting food can be really slow - as much as an hour. Which is great for catching up with your friends. The chips and salsa are good, but our basket of chips was mostly small crumbs :( The salsa is good and thick and not too spicy :) If you like lots of flavor and a little heat - and I do - then these are the tacos for you! I gave them 4 out of 5 stars due to two Restaurant101 offenses. 1) staff member (woman with long dark straight hair) was brushing her hair behind the counter in the drink and food prep area as she chatted with another staff member. Are you kidding me? Brush your hair in the bathroom or outside- not in the food prep area!!!! 2) bathroom stall had no toilet paper. This was a stall with a 2 roll dispenser. Two rolls empty in the dispenser means that the bathroom isn't being checked regularly. Sh*t like that matters! For those two Restaurant101 offenses, you lost a star from the rating. This is a great spot in Baton Rouge; a sign of the city's maturity? It has a very Nola vibe with all outdoor seating it's a quaint taco stand. They only accept cards, probably due to the nature of the neighborhood's condition when they opened. For the price it's excellent food and the margaritas are pretty great as well. I love the quesadillas that is packed with good quality cheese and the chef's know how to brown the edges of the cheese to give it that classic burnt cheese flavor which gives it a nice crunch. The fish tacos are excellent too. In fact, I haven't had anything bad here. Great atmosphere, great food, and great prices. Very close to downtown and just an all around great stop. read more

Hubs and I enjoyed our Saturday visit! We went around 1:00 pm. The weather was nice for outdoor eating. The parking was kind of tight but we got a last minute spot in the lot behind the building. We ordered at the window and were given a table number. We sat at a cute table for 2. We ordered 3 chicken tacos and 3 fish tacos. They are a pretty good size, we were only able to eat 4. The tacos were flavorful and good! We also had the queso and chips! Delicious. I believe they do free refills of the chips! I took my 12 year old on a Sunday night visit. The weather was chilly and they had outdoor heaters. Also they had the football games on. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere on both visits. I'm not sure why people rave about this place other than you can bring your dog. (I don't subject mine to the great outdoors in 3 digit temps so it's not a draw for me.)My girlfriend wanted to go for her birthday so we went. Be prepared- it IS a taco stand with a fence around it. The employees were very nice- I'll give them that but I probably won't return of my own volition. It was an overpriced mediocre experience with nothing special to offer. Our food came out in a timely manner but our fish taco orders were both in the same paper basket making it hard to split up and eat because they fall apart when you pick them up. The chips and guacamole were $7.00. It's $3.50 for guacamole at almost every other Mexican restaurant in town. The chips were thicker than I liked and they didn't taste "fresh". The fish taco was okay. Nice crispy batter once we got them sorted out. Margaritas were small and FULL of ice which melted pretty quickly making them watery. Nothing to write home about. You walk in, stand in line, order, prepay and pre tip so you don't really know if you're going to get great service or not. Then you try to find a place to sit The guys running the trays were working their behinds off but they aren't the ones that load the trays or sling the food. Presentation needs work. I guess it's okay for college students who don't know to expect any better. The people there looked to be a wide age range but mostly locals and I guess if you live nearby it's okay.
