This restaurant did not displease me, but at the same time I was not wowed. I highly recommend it for lunch. My boyfriend and I picked Marina's on a whim for lunch because of how close it was to his job, and that I just so happened to want Mexican food. Small, quaint, and tidy with your typical Mexican restaurant atmosphere. Servers were very polite, and immediately responsive to our every need. The food did not take long to come out. My boyfriend ordered the tamale, taco, and enchilada lunch with black beans instead of refried (chicken and Pork); and I ordered the chimichanga lunch (with beef). First off, the meat in all the dishes were well cooked, juicy, and very very tender. I commend you guys for it, because a lot of people look over it so easily; but there was a slight lack in seasoning/marinating. The dish just really needed that one pop of flavor and it would have been perfect. Also, the chimichanga was beautifully crisp, and not soggy like some places. The ambiance immediately entering the property reeked of an episode of Bar Rescue, but minus the cockroaches. There was only one employee running both the kitchen, tables, and bar. He expected us to seat ourselves, not to mention we were the only customers and there was NO MUSIC playing... pure silence. Now on to the food, Salsa is average, but not terrible. Came in today for lunch and was not disappointed. It was around 2 so there was only 1 other person eating other than us, which I enjoyed. The service was fast and attentive. I ordered guac and queso, which is usually how I start judging how good the food will be. Guac was A1 and the queso was the best I've had. It was almost buttery? Idk but it was good. I ordered street tacos and my boyfriend ordered the pork quesadilla. Both delicious. We left satisfied and ready to go home for a nap. That's how you know it's some gooooooood food! Were regulars at their former location on Bennington and are thrilled the reopened on Perkins Rd. recently The taco salad is delicious in a crispy taco shell bowl that is loaded with ground beef. Their beef fajitas come out sizzling full of tasty beef. They have the best flan I have ever put in my mouth, cool, creamy and sweet. They also have an apple pie served sizzling on a hot iron plate with a scoop of ice cream. I am so happy my favorite mexican restaurant has reopened. read more

Five stars because this place deserves more business. Just don't make it crowded so that I lose my place. Marina's has good food with exceptional margaritas. Crab and shrimp chimichanga is the best thing I've had thus far. Chicken fajitas are solid. Mexicans Salad is above average. Both the super burrito and the burrito plate were worth the price. Every time we've been there hasn't been an issue with getting a table. Also, the little one loves their chicken tenders and fries. Finally, the staff is friendly. read more

So glad I stopped in here! I was thinking I wanted something light-ish and so - I know - maybe Mexican isn't the top choice there - but I stopped anyway! The Marinas Fish Salad caught my attention and I was pleasantly surprised. The salad consisted of generous portions of Romaine lettuce - very fresh and crisp - with black beans on one side and diced tomatoes and black olives on the other. The kicker was the grilled Tilapia that was sliced up and layered across the top of the salad - and was PERFECTLY cooked - moist, tender, not under or over on the temperature. It was seasoned well but you could enjoy the flavor of the fish itself. On the side I had some honey mustard dressing that, used judiciously, helped to balance out some of the other flavors. Nick was my waiter today - very prompt and attentive. All in all a very good experience and will looking forward to coming back when I'm in the mood for some mega-carbs one day! read more

Kind of disappointed. Went here to try something new and there was just nothing that really wowed us or made us want to come back. Salsa was, at first, fairly flavorless with a kick at the end but after a while we enjoyed it. We always try tacos at New Mexican restaurants because it tends to be a good indicator of the food and, as my mother put it, Taco Bell is better. There was no seasoning to the meat. We got a few enchilada suizas and they were fine. Chicken flautas were piping hot but for the most part didn't have a lot of flavor and some were slightly soggy. We originally were talking about how it would be a good place to eat some chips and salsa and drink a margarita and just hang out at the end of the day, but the more we talk about Marinas the more we feel that we can do it somewhere else. Also, when we first arrived (a little after 12), there were a decent amount of people at the bar and then one other table. Since there were so few people we were waited on by the bartender. By the time we left, the restaurant was almost completely full, yet the bartender was still tending to us and many other tables and so, even though he tried, the service was lacking. He was the bartender, waiter AND bused his tables and as far as we know he was the only server. Even though he was in the weeds, he was very kind and helpful. We might try to come back in a few weeks and hopefully by then they will have worked out their problems. read more

This is just waaaaaay to convenient not to order Mexican food from; literally a hop, skip and a big jump from where we live. The other night, I was craving a ground beef taco salad and chicken flautas, so I asked my hubs to order some food to go. All I was missing was the margaritas, but had plenty of that the night before at an event. Oh that taco salad was huge, so I shared with the fams and we all got a taste of it. The chicken flautas came with 3 to the order along with refried beans and rice. Those were tasty, but slightly overcooked because the chicken was a little tough. My husband ordered a burrito, but I did not get to try because it was made with flour tortillas and that was a no-go for me. Our orders came with a huge bag of chips, which we deliciously paired with their queso and guacamole. Altogether, I enjoyed our food and my Mexican food craving was definitely filled that night! Perhaps I'll stop in one night to order some margaritas and dine-in. read more

So, the environment is decent. Kind of small and definitely not suitable for a big party. So, we spent $12 for steak nachos, we literally got 7 tostadas chips with beans and small pieces of steak on them. NOT $12 worth of food, absolutely disappointed. There enchiladas tasted as if they came from a frozen box. Not homemade enchiladas. Overall, the place was decent and the food was horrible. Will not be returning to this establishment. I would not call their food authentic Mexican; I would call it edible and will do if you need to eat something. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. It looks like their are lots of customers there because of the cars but don't be mistaken it's just their employees cars. I'm sad to see another place fail at this location. My family has been regular customers at Marinas for years at the previous location, so we were so excited to hear about the new location opening up! I've been a few times to the new location, and the food is excellent! This is a small place which I prefer over a huge, loud restaurant. At the old location, the mom and dad cooked in the kitchen while the son waited the tables. It is always so nice to still see the same familiar faces at the new location!! I love the food here, and consider it to be authentic! Everyone should visit this place to support a small family business and enjoy delicious food! This has been one of my family's "go to" places for years, so can't wait to continue to visit now that they have reopened!! read more

Where do start first off when I get my menu I look over it and I had some questions because it was my first time eating there when I asked my questions my waitress didn't know anything about the menu I don't know if she was new or she just didn't know. While looking over the menu she brought out some chips and salsa it tasted and looked like tomato paste it was very bland. I didn't order anything too crazy just the empanada's and a crispy taco because after tasting the salsa I was too scared to but I didn't want to just walk out so stayed and ordered something simple.After putting in my order the cook waited to a commercial came on tv to go fix my food. When the food came out look like he just threw the taco on the plate and when tried the empanadas they were bland so I added hot sauce to it and you can tell they were in a freezer.The only two things that was good about this place was the fact that the empanadas came out hot and the hot sauce was good. read more

Horrible. My wife and I tried this new mexican place. I was really rooting for them since it's very close to my home but we had an awful experience. Portions are small and expensive. I ordered a quesadilla, it was very small, the tortilla tasted like those sold at walmart and the overall taste was just meh. For $13 on that thing they call quesadilla is way too expensive. My wife ordered a black bean soup. After a 20 min wait, by the time my quesadilla was ready we were told they were out of soup. There are better options available elsewhere. Baton Rouge restaurants come and go...how wonderful that Marina's is still going strong after many years! When we lived near Perkins and Lee and it was on Bennington, it was our go-to place for our Friday night dine out! It was so convenient just a few blocks from our house...but the convenience was just the beginning! The food was always delicious and so fresh...we enjoyed watching it being prepared. The service was amazing...and although our meal was prepared fresh every time, it was served lightening fast every time too! When we down-sized to Saint Gabriel, we really missed our regular Marina's fix. Tried a couple of the Mexican places closer to our home but they just didn't match up to Marinas! Now every time we are anywhere near the newer location on Perkins near Pennington Biomedical, we make sure to stop by. Went just yesterday and it was as wonderful as ever! Just to tell you how much I love this place. It was our 49th wedding anniversary and hubby said I could go anywhere I wanted...didn't even have to think about it...it was Marina's for me! read more

The worst Mexican food every. I had to send back my first order which was a seafood enchilada. It was very dry and stone cold in the middle. The crawfish and shrimp inside was rubbery. It tasted like it been microwave including the beans and rice. I was the only one in the restaurant and you kind of see some of the kitchen in the restaurant . I never heard nothing from the kitchen that indicated any cooking. The restaurant is small enough to tell. I told the waiter about my food who is also the cook about it being cold and dry. He took it then I ordered the shrimp quesadilla. Which came back in 2 mins after I literally order. It also tasted microwave and was super hot where I couldn't even touch it. My friend and I decided to try Marina's for lunch and were very pleased we did. I had the chicken quesadillas which were excellent. My friend had the pork taco, tamale and burrito plate which he enjoyed very much. The portion sizes were very generous for lunch and the prices were reasonable. In the past we frequented Superior Grill--but it is too noisy and the service is too slow. Marina's is smaller, the service is better and the quality of their food is equal to or better. Move over Superior, Marina's is going to be our new place for lunch. read more

I ordered the Taco Dinner and wasn't able to finish it. Came with a good amount if food it was just the quality of the food that threw me off.
