The margaritas are ready to go.
    Dennise H.

Were regulars at their former location on Bennington and are thrilled the reopened on Perkins Rd. recently The taco salad is delicious in a crispy taco shell bowl that is loaded with ground beef. Their beef fajitas come out sizzling full of tasty beef. They have the best flan I have ever put in my mouth, cool, creamy and sweet. They also have an apple pie served sizzling on a hot iron plate with a scoop of ice cream. I am so happy my favorite mexican restaurant has reopened.

Five stars because this place deserves more business. Just don't make it crowded so that I lose my place. Marina's has good food with exceptional margaritas. Crab and shrimp chimichanga is the best thing I've had thus far. Chicken fajitas are solid. Mexicans Salad is above average. Both the super burrito and the burrito plate were worth the price. Every time we've been there hasn't been an issue with getting a table. Also, the little one loves their chicken tenders and fries. Finally, the staff is friendly.

Marinas Fish Salad with grilled Tilapia - Excellent!
    Scott L.

So glad I stopped in here! I was thinking I wanted something light-ish and so - I know - maybe Mexican isn't the top choice there - but I stopped anyway! The Marinas Fish Salad caught my attention and I was pleasantly surprised. The salad consisted of generous portions of Romaine lettuce - very fresh and crisp - with black beans on one side and diced tomatoes and black olives on the other. The kicker was the grilled Tilapia that was sliced up and layered across the top of the salad - and was PERFECTLY cooked - moist, tender, not under or over on the temperature. It was seasoned well but you could enjoy the flavor of the fish itself. On the side I had some honey mustard dressing that, used judiciously, helped to balance out some of the other flavors. Nick was my waiter today - very prompt and attentive. All in all a very good experience and will looking forward to coming back when I'm in the mood for some mega-carbs one day!

Tried several times to place an order over the phone. Can't do it. Can't find a menu on Yelp. Unless there's several years old.

We have been regular customers here weekly for over two years…read more Jim Uridales goes out of his way to cook the most delicious cuisine in our area. There are many choices on the menu. Tonight I got Spanish coffee and a chili relleno. The Spanish coffee is an alcohol drink that can be used as a dessert. Yummy! The chili rellenllo was filled with dellicious ground seasoned beef. It has a coating and is deep fried. The pulled pork quesadillas are so yummy- this is what my hubby got tonight. I like the way the seating is here. There are booths and tables and all are comfortable. Though you may be sitting near another table, the acoustics are such that others talking are not bothersome. This is a pet peeve for me- many times I would rather eat at home - but here, the restaurant here feels like our family now. They are known for their delicious margaritas; but the bar can mix most any drink . I love Mestizos, the yummy food and varied menu mmm is the word! My husband and I are self proclaimed foodies. We love most everything on their menu. The chefs Dad owned a Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge for years- " Carlos" Uridales inspired his son, Jim, to open his own restaurant. Mestizos has been in business for over 25 years. Jim Uridales and his crew are also benevolent members of Baton Rouge and they are a service oriented group of professionals. The menu prices are slightly higher on some items, however, scallops with shrimp here are very delicious and perfectly browned in a buttery flavored manner and this menu item sells for 30 dollars and it's the most costly entree on the menu. Their tapas menu is more budget friendly and delicious. I urge you to try this delicious menu for yourself. We love their catering department too!

Mark Twain, or someone was famous for saying that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. And today I say with absolute sincerity (but slightly tongue in cheek), that the best meal I ever had in Mexico City was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. If Michelin ever gives stars in Baton Rouge, Mestizo should on the list. Try the scallops in mole verde and the salmon in mole pistachio.

We came on a Sunday, and I got a delicious brunch!…read more The restaurant wasn't busy for an early lunch, so we got seated right away. Immediately upon walking in, I loved all of the colors and the vibes of this Mexican restaurant. When you sit down, they bring chips and salsa to your table. I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa or the chips. The chips had some seasoning on them and to me, it didn't mix well with the salsa. The salsa was really thin, and I prefer a chunky salsa with a salted thick chip lol. I was feeling adventurous and got the French toast on the brunch menu. It was delicious! The berry compote and the two different syrups paired really well with it. The bacon that it came with was perfection. I ate every last bite. I did have a bite of my friends tacos, and they were good but on smaller side in my opinion. Our waitress was great and there were plenty of tvs to watch while we waited. But, we never waited long for anything!

This is definitely Tex-Mex rather than traditional Mexican, but it hits the spot if that's what you're craving. The real standout is the decor and ambiance, especially after renovating and expanding. It's a fantastic space to hang out and chitchat with friends over dinner. The service has always been great and efficient for me. I can't remember the server I often got - maybe Joshua? Their yearly Cinco de Mayo party is also always fun and a vibe! Overall, still a solid spot in Baton Rouge for Tex-Mex and close to LSU campus.
