I loved this place. It was connected to my hotel (The ES Sonesta) so it was a no brainer for dinner after the LSU basketball game. The inside isn't too bright so it's cozy but also there's a lot of activity and people. I got a chorizo taco and also the chips and dip trio. Both were great. The jalapeno margaritas were great too. This Mexican style restaurant is located near LSU's campus. I visited this restaurant on a Friday night and to my surprise it was not packed which was great. Our group was able to be seated immediately. I ordered the frozen strawberry margarita which was delicious. I also ordered the chicken quesadilla which was also very delicious. I noticed a piece of hair on my plate of my food. I alerted the waitress and she kindly brought out a new order of chicken quesadilla. This place is super cute! Really close to LSU so it's perfect pregame. The drink menu is amazing. It was difficult to decide what to get. They have happy hour on the weekend which is great! They charge $4 for unlimited chips and salsa. It was very good. All of my tacos were very good. I love the picked onions. A friend and I had been wanting to try this place for a while but the reviews always kept us away. So many people saying the food wasn't good, and that the only good thing was the overpriced drinks. The chips were very thick and crunchy which I don't normally like but weren't bad. I got one taco Al pastor and one birria taco; they were super flavorful and delicious. The broth that comes with the birria tacos (I had to order because I only got al a carte tacos) was PHENOMENAL! I like refried beans but they're always just subpar, I never taste them and am amazed....this place has AMAZING refried beans I wasn't expecting that and was pleasantly surprised. The rice shocked me as well, super flavorful and yummy. Both sides were flavorful in a way a side dish never is! We sat at the bar because the place was PACKED. The bartender served us and was excellent. Anjel was super nice and friendly and he was super patient with us. The restaurant is on the smaller side and with it being packed out like that it was very loud on top of the loud music being played. It wasn't unbearably loud though. I don't suggest coming here for the food, only for fun drinks. I was very excited to give this place a try, but I was very disappointed. I came here on a Thursday at 4:30, and the resturant wasn't clean. There were chips all over the floor, the table needed to be wiped down, and there were crumbs everywhere. No one ever came to clean any of this up. I ordered the drip too hard drink, and it was adorable! Loved the presentation, but on the gold stand, there were so many crumbs. The red and green sauces brought with my entree were in small plastic cups and were seemingly poured from a jar/can. I was told there was a 2 hour wait because the kitchen was backed up. The restaurant opens at 11. I went back several weeks later to give it a try again. This time we were promptly seated. Our waiter was very nice and took our order promptly. The best part about the meal was the drink. The drink was good and strong. However the food was not that great. I won't say it was nasty but it wasn't good. We ordered the queso and it was really really thick. It was hard to scoop it on the chip. The flavor was decent. We also ordered the Southwest eggrolls. These were just not good. The flavor profile was off and they were soggy. The filling was wet and didnt have much flavor, they also needed to be fried longer. The pickled onions on the dishes were sour. I love pickled onions but there were off. On the the entrees. I got the 3 taco meal and my friend got the Mexican pizza. I did enjoy the shrimp taco. The steak taco was also decent nothing spectacular. The chicken taco however is not good at all. The flavor profile was strange not complimentary at all. The food was packed with flavor and everything appeared to be very fresh and plated perfectly. We had 2 waiter's because we were there during shift change. Although the waiter changed the transition was smooth and there were no issues. Both were very attentive, friendly, and answered all of our questions and provided great recommendations. The decor of the restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing so your pictures will be perfect. The drinks were fun and also picture perfect as well. The atmosphere here is awesome. The brinks are a MUST. I was not too fond of the salty pastor tacos. But the cute drinks made up for it. The staff was overly pleasant and tended to us very well as we were a party of 15. The server made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us frequently. The only thing I did not like was that we could divide the check up between our parties since we were a party of 15. They stated we had to pay the full check and then we had to divide everything among ourselves later. This was the only inconvenience. It would have been nice to know prior. I was excited to try this place. My excitement turned into disappointment quickly. When we arrived it was packed in the inside but they had patio sitting. It took a while for the waitress to come. After he came and dropped off menus and drink menus it took a while for him to return. However I noticed that other people coming and being seated but a waitress never came so much so that two parties need you leaving. When my waitress returned we were looking over the menu placed our food orders and I was trying to go over the drink menu, he went to go put in our food orders and then another couple came in sat across from us. I was still trying to decide what I wanted to drink and the waiter came over and asked for our drink menus to give to the other couple sitting across from us. I guess they didn't have enough menus to accommodate everyone. Also, the couple that came in after us was served their food before us. They ordered the same thing we did but our order was inputted before there's. I guess they favor guess that order liquor over those who don't. After seeing that and the waitress coming back and asking if we wanted to order drinks I was a little upset and said no. The queso with chorizo looked as if it had been sitting out it had a skin in it. It reminded me of the queso at Barracuda but it wasn't nearly as good. The food took forever to come and when it finally did I wasn't even hungry anymore. I asked for the receipt but I did taste it and the food wasn't food my tacos did not taste like the tacos I was used to nor did it taste authentic.
