Superior Grill gives you pretty much what you expect, though it definitely runs on the pricier side. The queso is a straight ten out of ten, while the rest of the food was fairly standard for what you pay. The strong margaritas certainly do their job if you want to have a good time. The whole place was packed, but the nighttime decor and setup looked great. Our server stayed friendly and kept the orders moving fast despite the heavy crowd. read more

Returned to this location after many years, the atmosphere was great as always, the host/server was outstanding!, the margarita ...great!...complimentary chips & salsa... Excellent! ...BUT was highly surprised & disappointed with the appetizer portions of the Quesadilla. Years ago, portions were the size of a small pizza & loaded with meat. *There were typically "Full orders", & "Half orders", (full, the size of a 12 inch pizza) ... so maybe there's a distinction between the appetizer & entree now. ***Still assuming all other menu items are as great as they were 20 years ago*** read more

Superior has the best veggie fajitas I have ever had. Delicious! The restaurant is huge but still pumps delicious food very quickly. You will not wait long for your food! The staff is friendly and the restaurant is lively and fun! Amazing margaritas as well! read more

Second time going in a few months and even though the food is brought out quickly, it's never hot. Used to not have this problem before. If anything, it was piping hot. What's up guys? Do I have to find another Mexican restaurant? Aside from that, hostesses and waitstaff are top notch. Ambiance is great. The only thing that I could imagine going on here since the food, those last few times has been brought out incredibly quick, just a bit on the lukewarm side, is that you guys are pre-making a lot of stuff and having to sit around waiting for someone to order it. I mean when it was brought out, the cheese had obviously sat around for a while. Either way if you love food that's not very hot and a good atmosphere. This is the place to go. If you want a hot Mexican dish, I'm with you. Let me know when you find a good place that I could check out. read more

Superior Grill: Mesquite-Grilled Tex-Mex Perfection Superior Grill is a favorite, known for bold Tex-Mex flavors and smoky mesquite magic. Queso - Creamy, melty, and perfectly seasoned. Addictive from the first dip. Filet Diablo Salad - Spicy, tender filet tips over crisp greens. Hearty, satisfying, with a kick. Skinny Coconut Margarita (Spicy Rim is a Must!) - Smooth, tropical, and refreshing. That spicy rim adds just the right punch. Mesquite-Grilled Favorites - Steaks, burgers, fajitas--everything kissed by smoky char. Unbeatable flavor. Bold dishes, strong drinks, great atmosphere! Superior Grill always delivers. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I called my order in about 20 minutes ahead of time, and when I arrived, the manager, Jeremy, claimed that I had never placed an order. I showed him my phone call history, which confirmed that I had called the restaurant, but instead of trying to resolve the issue, he became confrontational and dismissive. From my experience, I felt that I was treated differently after he saw the color of my skin. Rather than handling the situation professionally or attempting to correct the mistake, Jeremy was unfriendly and argumentative. Every customer deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of race read more

Our family truly loves the Superior Bar and Grill franchise, from the Shreveport location to New Orleans, so we decided to try this spot instead of our usual Government Street haunt. Arriving this past Sunday for brunch, we found a vibe leaning more toward the established LSU-Highland Road-university crowd--lively and casual, with that signature family-friendly feel we've come to expect. Me and the boys were seated rapidly by one of the assistant managers, setting a smooth start. Our waitress was on top of things, pleasant and attentive, taking our order promptly for chorizo queso, chicken quesadillas, and my steak and eggs. Everything arrived fresh and flavorful, leaving us satisfied and feeling like we got our money's worth. The boys still favor the Government Street location for its familiarity, but this visit held its own with solid portions and welcoming service. The steady flow of patrons, young and old, is a nod to the consistent quality across the chain. read more

I went here purely because it was recommended from a BR local. Was not disappointed! Margarita's on point! The house margarita is AMAZING! Not too sweet not too sour. Service was great! Daniel checked on us multiple times through out our stay and was on top of it. Queso was definitely from LA as it seemed there was a little slap ya mama on it, not mad about it!! Steak cooked to perfection with TONS of flavor! Grilled onions galore! I will be visiting again when I return if not again before I leave. read more

Was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was here! Being a Southern California native, I have high expectations for Mexican food. My coworkers had given me a "disclaimer" that it might not meet my standards, lol. But the food was quite good!! Service was excellent, we had a party of 9 and the server was attentive and helpful. This restaurant has a causal and fun vibe. It's fairly large and seemed to be a popular establishment. We started with the chips and salsa, plus the queso and guacamole for the table. All were fresh and yummy. I had the shrimp enchiladas which were very flavorful and quite delicious! (They were a tad spicy which I didn't expect. Not an issue for me, but someone who doesn't like spicy food would probably not have enjoyed them.). The rice and beans were also good quality. I really enjoyed this meal and would definitely eat here again. read more

Always good food. Always consistent. Always friendly. Austin is the favorite and preferred waiter for our family. He is always prompt and ready to help. I understand that Friday nights are a busy time for restaurants, but my husband and I arrived at Superior Grill at 5 PM and were told there was a 45-minute wait for a table. We put our names down and waited, but after 45 minutes, we still hadn't been seated. When I went to the host stand to check, I was told it would be another 30 minutes. We decided to keep waiting, but in hindsight, we should have left and gone elsewhere. After the additional 30 minutes passed, I checked again, only to be told they couldn't give me a wait time at all because it was so busy. That's something that should have been communicated from the beginning, rather than giving us inaccurate wait times and wasting nearly two hours of our evening. Very disappointing experience read more

I absolutely love this place! The energy is always vibrant, and it's consistently packed with people. We came on a Tuesday evening around 6 PM to grab a bite before the LSU men's basketball game. There was a 45-minute wait for a table, but fortunately, we snagged seats at the bar. The chips and salsa are incredible, and I highly recommend trying the queso dip. The $10 bowl is massive and perfect for sharing. For the main course, I usually go for either the shrimp quesadillas or the fajitas--both are excellent, and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Prices here are on the higher side for Louisiana. Enchilada plates are around $25, and a half order of shrimp quesadillas is $20. Don't skip their famous margaritas! My favorite is a mix of the regular and strawberry margaritas, served slushy-style. Be warned--the alcohol content is strong, so drink responsibly! They do have a daily special where you can get a large for the price of a small. The staff are always super friendly, quick to greet you, take your order, and check in throughout your meal. This is a Baton Rouge staple and definitely a spot you shouldn't miss! read more

The food here was amazing! I went with a group of friends and we first started off with some queso and chips. The queso was so rich and cheesy it was the perfect consistency. I then ordered a sangria margarita which was very good. The sangria was very strong but not too strong. Being that it was a Friday night and we sat on the patio the service was amazing! It was very loud but it was still a good time being with friends. For my entree, I ordered the street tacos which were very good. It came with three tacos with a side of rice and beans. I got the fries instead of the rice and beans and they were very crispy. The three proteins I chose for my tacos were duck, pork, and beef. It was amazing! Very seasoned and not over cooked! I will definitely be back to this location! read more

The phone never eats first at Superior lol! Superior on Highland is always a Mexican go-to. The atmosphere is always on point, food is always good and margs are strong. Love this location on Highalnd, it's right in the center of where I am. I really like how there is different types of seating throughout the restaurant: outside, partial outside, inside, bar area. Usually, it is so busy we can't get a table just being walk-ins, but this Monday we were able to get right in, and our food came right out. We didn't wait long for anything. I ordered the chicken burrito, and it was good but a little dry. I thought shredded cheese came inside the burrito, but I just got chicken and rice in mine. Beans, rice and lettuce and a small side guacamole came on the side. I wish there was more guacamole, but oh well. I know I will definitely be back, only a matter of time!! read more

Went to celebrate baby cousins 4th birthday. I had no idea of the private rooms available. We were able to allow the kids to run around without being a bother to others dining. I had the Queso and ceviche and frozen strawberry margarita. Our servers kept everything together nicely and they worked together well as a team. read more

Been here twice this month and really enjoyed it both times. I had the pork chop the first time and the baja tacos the second time. Both were better than expected. The pork chop was tender and flavorful. The baja tacos were yummy and filling. Let's be honest most people come here for the festive atmosphere. It certainly didn't dissapoint in this area. It feels weird to review this place since we're here easily once a week. We celebrated with our friends here right after we eloped, countless holiday and birthday parties, and just because Tuesdays. It's our home away from home, too convenient being right around the corner from our actual home. In short, Get the skinny margarita Get the house wine, any flavor, it's delicious Get the ahi tuna tacos Get the stuffed avocado Get the quesadillas (they are seriously the best) Get the nachos (because no one does them like they do) Get guac, get queso with beef Sit at the bar and bullshit with the bartenders ENJOY read more

I got the tequila lime salmon salad. it was nothing like the one I got years ago from the other location on government street. None of the vegetables were roasted or grilled and I could taste no honey lime vinaigrette. I actually don't think it had any dressing on it. Not worth the $18.95 at all. My wife got a combo and said it was just ok. we wont be back for sure read more

It's a super expensive taco bell. Food is not worth the price, it is barely acceptable. This is only Mexican cuisine because of the names given to the food items. And to charge so much for dishes that use ground beef and chicken is ridiculous. I almost gave it 2 stars and not 1 because the service was great; the employees probably don't have a say in the menu options. Go spend your money for better Mexican food somewhere else, and you'll probably save some money. read more

When we were seated and went to sit down, and the table was all wobbly, the manager was there so we asked him if we could just switch to a different table. They only had two tables fill the rest. We're all empty he said no I'll just fix your table so he had to sit there at a broken table until he fixed it when he could've just let it sit at a different table, and you couldn't hear yourself think I'll have a conversation with anybody at your table because the servers were all crowded around the area where we were sitting next by there and they were dancing around. I'm just talking and running and laughing and doing this playing instead of taking care of the tables . Our chips were burnt and clumped together. The server branden, was not attentive in any way. He brought my husband's lemonade and forgot my iced tea then later forgot the xtra plate we asked for then for the beans that came with the nacho's but after we at the nacho's he finally brought the bean dip that was the purpose we'd already ate the nachos which has so many peppers and barely any cheese. The fajitas were good, but they were not sizzling hot. They were lukewarm if that I'm gonna stick to the other location because nothing was good yesterday! Not food nor the service. read more

I will always recommend Superior Grill for Mexican in Baton Rouge. It is always better when eating there in person but their take out was good as well. The only thing I wish was different would have been to ask for the pico and toppings for the beef quesadillas to be placed in a separate container because it was all warm. The service is quick when ordering take out. read more

So I went in as a walk in for Cinco de Mayo, it's busyyy. The restaurant is large too but it was still packed tight. While that might be understandably nerve wracking for some waiters, ours kept it very cool. We sat out in the patio area which had great natural lighting (for my selfie folks). Server was very rude and condescending, manager was incompetent as well. Take your money and business elsewhere.

My husband and I had a horrible experience. Our waitress spilled my husbands margarita on him, then proceeded to say she would take care of it and bring him and I a new drink, and ended up charging us for all of the drinks, even the spilled one. I truly enjoyed this restaurant. By far the best service I've ever gotten, and as soon as I walked in. My friend and I walked in looking for a group of people we barely even knew ourselves (a group of people from Orangetheory Workout classes that I only ever see inside the classes and turns out are almost unrecognizable outside the Orangetheory sweat-our-ass-off classes) . As soon as we walked in, looking confused AF, the staff came up to us asking if we need help (and boy did we, but how do you ask you're looking for a group of people you don't know?) well they offered as much help as possible but also let us know it's okay to walk around until we figure out where we belong (thank you for that ) . We also had a group of 20+ people which they accommodated at last minute (which wasn't nice if us to put on them ) but they did with effort and kindness. The food was amazing, the service was way above average, exceptional service. The manager (I'm pretty sure it was the manager- I should have asked - Shame on me) over heard me asking my friend where the bathroom was, it being my first time and all, and kindly escorted me to the women's bathroom. That was truly kind and rare to find managers, let alone any staff to escort a new customer to the restroom when they ask where it's at. This is the type of service that makes a place stand out . Where's the bathroom? - oh let me show you! (Instead of just verbal direction) Hey, you look like you're looking for someone - can I help you find them? (As opposed to just Ignoring them or being rudely frustrated with people off the back) You need tables put together and didn't give us a curtesy before hand? - let's accommodate you guys as best we can (as opposed to not at all) This place needs to teach other places how to run a hospitality restaurant because this place does it with 5 stars. Absolutely amazing team, everyone there , thank you for such a great visit on a busy Saturday afternoon. read more

The food, service and Ambience is good! Great atmosphere for spending time with friends!

As a result of where I reside and nightlife preferences this location is out of way for me, but I have dined here 2x over the last 6 weeks. Place is busy and loud which is a testament to its popularity , which no believe means both the killer margaritas and the food. Superior's normal margaritas are strong--so beware and you are warned--and if this review is based on margaritas only then it receives a 5 star, however there's food here which I have eaten both occasions I went recently. First off, the prices for the food shocks me at how expensive their Mexican food is--wow! No matter how you dress it up, change the description to something more exotic and or add on a few small things, it is still Mexican food which remains inexpensive. And actually the new fanciful descriptions make it more difficult to find things. As for Superior's food itself, I remain unimpressed. There are other south of the border establishments which serves the same thing but better. As such my review is 3 stars---and that's not to say I did not enjoy each visit to Superior but it's not my first choice. It's a good thing many others disagree with me! read more

Had a great time at Superior Grill Highland! The large 20oz regular frozen margarita was delicious, and I really liked the large guacamole appetizer. The difference between the small and the large guacamole app is that the small has one scoop and the large has two--great to share with a few people! I got the lettuce wrap tacos with rice and tortilla soup as my entreé, and I really liked them! I do think that the entreés and margaritas are a little overpriced for what you get--be prepared to spend a decent amount of money if you plan on getting drinks with your meal and leaving a good tip. read more
