the male server was the only one who greeted us, asked if we needed anything. all of the other staff looked at us & did not ask if we needed anything else or anything. two minutes after a male customer walked in (after we had been sitting needing refills) & he got service immediately :) we were there for an hour & we ended up leaving (with money left at the bar for our drinks & queso) i'm not usually one to complain; trust me i understand how restaraunts work! we were sitting at the bar by the way (& it seemed to be whatever server saw them greeted them) the last couple of times we went it was the usual service but today was terrible read more

Solidly good Mexican food. The service is generally friendly. We got takeout the last two times I picked up dinner for my daughter and myself. The queso has a great consistency and is flavorful and buttery. She loves the tamales. I'm a fan of the enchiladas supremas, which provide you with 4 different enchiladas on one plate (and no rice or beans). It's not that I don't like rice and beans, but I can do without them and will often order a la carte items as I fill up and chips and salsa and queso. I have found the chips to be fresh with a good consistency. The interior of the restaurant is large and comfortable. I have found that at times the food can be a little hit or miss but most of the time I really enjoy it. The prices are pretty good too. All in all, we'll keep going back. read more

The El rancho in Baton Rouge has better taste for what Mexican food is! This place on Florida Blvd is far better than this one in New roads. The food isn't what's expected from the menu based on the price! read more

We went for lunch today and everything was delicious! The tacos are delicious and the chili Relleno are amazing, we had the ones filled with taco meat and covered in queso dip. The chicken quesadillas were also good and that guacamole is delicious. Service was good. Place is clean place is nice. read more

tried the new location on major pkwy. yesterday. i wanted to like it soooo bad. the margi had no tequila in it, the food was room temperature, and the sauce on the relleno was just plain odd. the beans were burnt or something and had a really weird tasted to them. the service was a little slow considering we ordered off the express lunch menu, but everyone was so nice and friendly. the chips and salsa were very good. also the rice was flavorful, but room temp. it was very clean. for these things, i give it 2 stars. it's slim pickins around these parts as far as nice places to dine out. i guess it just got a little slimmer, 'cause i'm not planning on returning to el patio. read more

Took a while to be seated and served here. There seemed to be only one person waiting on tables but this was shortly after reopening so maybe that was a factor. Either way, good was good. Margaritas were better. Not a bad place for lunch. read more

We recently (10/14/24) had friends over from LAFAYETTE and chose to try the new Mexican restaurant in New Roads, El Patio. We called in the order so we could enjoy the meal at home. First of all, the order person totally screwed up the order; no one got what they ordered and some items were missing altogether. The on line menu listed several combination plates. I was told these orders were only available as lunch menus -- THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF THIS LIMITATION ON THE MENU. Now to the food. I have eaten in many Mexican restaurants and I would have to honestly say that this was the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten!! Portions were tiny and nothing was good, even the chips were stale and bitter. One taco was delivered although none was ordered. An enchilada was ordered and was not included in the order. For what it cost, I could've gone to the supermarket and bought Mexican frozen TV dinners galore and they would've tasted better! Avoid this place like the plague!! read more

We usually visit El Patio on a Friday evening. Service is almost always acceptably prompt, and the food is almost always good. The salsa is decent. My teenager's favorite is the Happy Plate Bravas (pictured with this review). My younger son prefers the cheese quesadilla and crispy tacos. Every now and then they'll be off, service will be slow, chips will taste like they've been fried twice, or a meal won't be quite as good as it usually is. But we almost always leave satisfied, and as far as eating out goes, the prices are reasonable for what you get. read more

My wife and I eat at this restaurant quite frequently and food is always well seasoned and flavorful. We have never had a bad meal here. The queso has a very rich, cheesy flavor that we love. My wife's favorite is the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. She says it is the best chicken enchilada she has had at any Mexican restaurant we have been to. My favorite is the fajitas. To be honest I have only been here once so my review is based on one dinner plate. I wouldn't recommend the Chicken Fajitas as they are all broke up and hard to find them in the pile of onions and vegetables. With that said I will be back to try something else. read more

Well Dorothy your not in Kansas anymore. This is the first Mexican restaurant I've ever been to that didn't give you a basket of Chips an Salsa when you sat down to look at the menu. Guess you have to ask for them cause the table in front of us got some. The waitress were nice an quickly waited on us. Drink order was filled quickly an accurately. Sodas an 1 peach margarita that was pretty good. Next they took our order. My hubby asked for a carne asada chimichanga, (not in Kansas-California anymore) hubby was asked if he wanted a steak chimichanga an he asked could they use carne asada an was informed that steak an carne asada was the same thing. Not in Kansas-California it's not. So he went with the steak chimichanga. Not bad but nothing to write home about. My daughter order the cheese Quesada an she was happy that it was just cheese an no tomatoes. However she thought she was going to get rice and beans but she didn't ask for it an they didn't offer. I got the House Special an it was good but covered in cheese sauce an 2 of the enchiladas were ground beef an that was it. 1 was chicken an 1 small tamale. It was all good. Not great but good. My daughter loved the rice. So that was nice she got her rice. Now for the best part of dinner was the appetizer of hot wings. I have to admit that when they came out last after we had all gotten our meals I was concerned an them being served with sour cream, guacamole, an cheese I was very cautious however I was very happy when I tried them. I will be back for hot wings an margaritas but I'll be trying something new for a main dish. I'm giving it 3 stars cause of how our food was brought to us one meal at a time, with the appetizer being served last, an no one asking if we wanted drink refills. read more
