Food was terrible, as in no flavor/seasoning, none. I would bet money the salsa was from a jar, it tasted very tomato-y; I asked for a lime (wedge) for my water but the waitress could not understand what I was asking for (I was speaking English); she forgot our appetizer; I ordered cheese enchiladas and was served beef. I didn't even try to send it back because it took almost 30 min to receive our food to begin with, I suffered through it bc we were starving from traveling all day & just wanted to get to the hotel. I gave 2 stars for atmosphere because it is suitable for families but I think our waitress' face would have cracked if she had smiled at all. Overall...just terrible!! read more

Went here yesterday with a couple of friends. When we got inside, I tried to order a margarita in which the waitress advised me that I was not able to order a margarita because her boss saw us drinking outside. My family and I tried this family owned Mexican restaurant near the casino resort we stayed at in Louisiana. Staff was super friendly, our party was already there and we arrived a bit late. The waiter greeted us got out drinks ordered and offered to reheat the queso and brought out fresh chips! He was very attentive which made the experience very delightful. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the lunch menu but I got the stuffed burrito with ground beef and my wife ordered the beef fajita. Her food came out hot still on the skillet and she said everything was delicious, my burrito was good but the meat was under seasoned in my opinion but overall not to bad. My coworkers and I swung by this place during a work conference because Google they said they had vegetarian options. Our waitress was a young woman who was super rude. She didn't even greet us when we walked in; just stared at us until we seated ourselves. The service was really slow, even though there was only one other family of three in the whole restaurant. There was an older woman working there too, I think? She just sat in the corner by one of the TVs, giving me a really uncomfortable, confrontational stare for most of our time there. I looked back at her and she refused to break eye contact, which I took as her trying to intimidate me. It was so dang STRANGE. Plus, the food was awful! The queso and salsa looked like they were straight out of a can. I ordered a basic meal of steak tacos with beans and rice. Mind you, I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants in my 35 years of living and rarely have poor experiences, so this was all very surprising to me. They brought me a slab of steak meat, so I had to cut it up myself with a real dull butter knife, which I found so odd?! Towards the end of our meal, we were sitting for about 15 minutes waiting for our ticket, so we could get the heck outta there, but the waitress never checked on us, so we had to go to the front register. The man just told us the waitress would bring it to us. When she arrived, she looked visibly annoyed for having to do her job. I always leave a good tip, but this time, I refused. Overall, the vibes were bad, the service was bad and the food was horrible here. One of my coworkers ended up getting sick and was throwing up all night afterward. I'm not a Karen, so I don't usually write negative reviews, but I feel like I had to warn other travelers about this restaurant. This is pretty good authentic Mexican food! I liked it a bunch! It's our second time through, my last review disappeared. It was stupid busy this time as there were a lot of Hurricane Laura evacuees and construction workers looking for good food, in fact every food place in town was standing room only! Chips and salsa was refreshed every time either got low. The food is great fresh and hot! Julie had a chicken and rice dish and I had street tacos, I think al carbon, I loved them, Julie ate hers like it was on fire!! Bathrooms are clean, they were rushing to get orders to the tables and everyone seemed to be having a good time! We are going to come back!! read more

Two stars for this establishment is generous. Calling it an establishment is generous. A proper name for Los Amigos would be vergüenza (embarrassment). The food I got here was a mockery of Latin food everywhere, but I am getting ahead of myself. I was ordering the food from Los Amigos to-go, after struggling to find a menu online. After eventually locating poorly photographed images of the menu on their Facebook, I was a bit peeved by the variety of spelling errors and sheer number of choices. How can a restaurant with the kitchen the size of Los Amigos properly prepare such an extensive menu? (Hint: They can't) I called and placed my order. The phone had rung for an excessively long amount of time, and I almost thought that they weren't going to answer. When they did, the man taking my order couldn't hear me, and seemed not to know their own menu. I ordered two quesadillas and a side of guacamole. Even after all of this, I was still looking forward to my food. It is genuinely difficult to mess up a basic quesadilla after all. I picked up my food and headed home. It wasn't until I unpacked it that I realized a mistake had been made on my part. They had forgotten the guacamole, which I had paid for. In its place were two small containers of salsa, which was so watery and bland that if it weren't red I would have had a hard time believing it was salsa at all. My quesadilla was sad beyond measure. The tortilla was practically burnt yet somehow limp. The insides were mushy, probably because there was very little cheese to hold everything together. The vegetables in the mushy filling tasted like they had either just been taken from the can (mushrooms and stewed tomatoes) or just thawed from frozen (the spinach) or just had so little flavor they weren't identifiable as food (onions?). The entire filling was overcooked, but managed to be lukewarm. The saving grace of my plate was the tiny amount of queso cheese that was placed on the side. The only reason that I even give this place 2 stars is that my parter ate his entire plate. This doesn't give much credit to the food, however, as he also agreed that it wasn't very good and will usually eat anything anyway.
