So good in the past decided to order pizza tonight, same result as the burger, dry and way overcooked. Maybe they'll get a new cook in the future and I will try them later but for now I'm done! Both of these orders were takeout so didn't find the problem until I got home.

Cooked to order with fresh ingredients and friendly staff. I most often get the shrimp quesadilla but I have also had the salads, BLT, tacos, a few of the sandwiches. All are delicious! There is a table/chairs outside to enjoy on nice days. Lots of artwork (that is for sale) inside to look at.

They use all Louisiana ingredients; crawfish, rice, who knows maybe even flour for the roue. In short, Cafe DeSoto screams authentic. The service is decent and we received our food fairly quickly after we ordered, so no complaints. I ordered a smoke infused Old Fashioned which was absolutely amazing! The food was good, but nothing to celebrate about. I ordered the filet, but was surprisingly tough for this cut of meat, but seasoned well. The veggies and potatoes were tasty and cooked well. Overall, I would definitely come back to this restaurant if I'm ever in Alexandria again, but I would try something different on the menu, for sure. One thumb and a high-five for Quebedeaux's Cajun Cafe! Happy eating, my foodies!

The service was hometown kindness. Highly recommend to everyone passing through, or going back for another visit.

Meal was tasty southern cooking but the pies are the real showstopper. We had coconut, chocolate, and peach. The peach has nutmeg in it so beware if you dislike nutmeg, like me. Shoot, once again I forgot to take a picture! There were three "blue plate specials" available,…read morefried chicken, turkey and dressing and ham with two sides, carrots&peas, and squash. We got the turkey. For the price(15.99), the serving of turkey wasn't very generous, maybe a scant half-cup of turkey. One the plus side, they did have dark meat, and it has some cranberry dressing. The corn meal dressing was very generous, and moist. It had a generous serving of carrots&peas, not so generous with the squash. We did get a slice of Bumbleberry pie, and peach pie. I was really looking forward to the Bumbleberry pie, as it was supposed to have raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries. I hope that's correct. I was picturing a slice of thick pie just brimming over with fat, juicy berries. Instead I got a thin, flat piece of pie with the bottom 3/4 of the pie filled with a pinkish-red opaque jelly of sorts, and a sparse, then layer of mashed berries on top, just plunder the crust. The body of the pie was just under an inch thick, maybe 3/4" thick. It was an EXTREME disappointment, considering how the town is supposed to be the ""Pie Capital of Louisiana". If I were you, don't bother getting the Bumbleberry pie, but do get the peach; it was outstanding! I wish I had the recipe! The flavor of the peaches came through, it was sweet and delicious, without being heavily sweetened with spices, overwhelming the peaches. Yummy! I'm only rating it a "three", as the service was lacking.
