Stopped by for a beer Friday afternoon. When we looked at it on Google, it said they were closed, but we went by anyway since we're in the area. Glad we did! It was a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy a great beer. The place is dog friendly and the crawfish smelled great (they weren't ready yet or we'd have tried some). It was amazing! They have lots of outdoor activities and they host special nights like game night. They are super dog friendly!!! They have caribeaner clips to clip your dogs leash to on the picnic tables, dog bowls, human grade dog food for $5, ice cream for dogs, dog themed alcohol, and a yard for your dog to go to the bathroom. They have giant space heaters hanging from the ceiling, lots of shade, a projector so I guess they have movie nights, and little campfire areas. They have an area where people sing and the band plays. Tons of beer options and non alcoholic beer too. They give out dog treats as well. This brewery was a great time! Got to enjoy a very good cover band while we were here (shoutout to The Drunk Uncles, they killed it! ) The brewery also has some decent bar food that you order up front (where you order your drinks) and pick it up at the food truck once it's ready! The food truck was called Pie Eyed and you can find them on Facebook for more information and what they serve; we only saw the offered appetizers on this day atleast which were very good. The beer pretzel and fries were delicious! The brewery had plenty of beer to choose from as well, my favorite being Puppy Love! The brewery offered a small indoor seating area and a larger covered outdoor area where the band was playing. The brewery also offered dog friendly environments in the brewery including water bowls, a grass area right outside the fence, and even carabiner D clasps located on the outdoor tables, to hook your dogs leash onto so you don't have to hold their leash and can enjoy drinking your delicious beer! They did a good job with making it dog friendly AND convenient for the dog owners! As a dog lover, I really wanted to love this place. It has a great vibe for enjoying live music (if you're there are the right time) and games outside. They are set up really nicely for bringing dogs, so bonus points for that! I also love that the front entrances has pictures of dogs up for adoption at a local shelter - great work! Beyond that, though, LeChien is "meh". I ordered a sour, which was barely a sour to me. Flavor was great, but not as "pucker-y" as I expect for a sour ale. What was must frustrating about my experience was the bartender. I don't know if he was new or just having a bad day, but it took a very long time to place an order for two beers and two food items; we did have PubPasses, and someone else had to show him multiple times how to ring it up in their POS system. He ended up selling my hubby something that the food truck was out of, so hubby had to go back and wait in a long line to remedy the situation. It was kind of a cluster with little apologies. Since it was a bit of a drive to get there, I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

They "forgot". I should've asked for another, but we were $40 in for two beers, a hard pretzel, congealed cheese plus early tip. Unfortunate. Nice people and good music though. read more

I feel honored to be the first person to give this brewery a Yelp review. I'm also thankful to live 7 minutes from this awesome place! If you like craft beer and microbreweries then this is the place for you! If you like amazing food, live music, and good people then this is still the place for you! They are dog and kid friendly as well! Huge bonus points for that. So, For starters, I love the atmosphere and the construction of this building. They did a really great job giving this brewery a unique vibe by combining modern architecture with rustic features (can you tell I'm a realtor?) There is ample Space inside for seating, and a LOT of outdoor space too. Plenty of room to entertain large groups, perfect for business functions, birthdays, and any special occasions. As we walked in, I immediately noticed the large steel containers used for brewing their small batches of beer. I need to remember to come back and try to ask for a tour during slow business hours. There is a bar to the right as you walk in with their craft beer selection as well as wine and food. We sampled a few before choosing and they were all great. I really liked the pumpkin stout and the white coffee beer. The chili was amazing, the boudin balls were the best we've ever had (made from scratch,) and I can't wait to try the hamburger hand pie next time which is supposed to be really good as well. There is a permanent food truck there called "Pie Eyed food truck" and they're stellar! We chose to sit outside and found one of the many picnic benches near a heater. Next time we will definitely go to the fire pit, although those are at the very back and I liked to be close to the live music. There was a man named Taylor Nauta playing live music (guitar, country, bluegrass, etc) and he was very very good! Glad we caught him there tonight. We really enjoyed being there tonight, and we will be back again soon! Thanks so much for opening here in Denham Springs! Suggestions: Having growlers to refill would be great. And a basic charcuterie board would also be awesome and likely very popular. I'm sure there are future plans to expand the menu so no worries there. I enjoy the chance to visit small, obscure breweries making their own versions of beers for what is often a small, dedicated clientele. And after a nearly a year of imprisonment in California, where I have been one of nearly 40 million people held hostage to our psychotic governor's vainglorious delusions of political conquest, I appreciate the opportunity to visit any brewery more than ever. So I have been anticipating the opening of Le Chien since I first passed by their location on my first visit to the Denham Springs area this year back in May; when I saw online that it finally opened this autumn, I told my family I'd definitely be stopping by during the holidays. The brewery is housed in what appears to be a former mechanic or auto body shop: The front and back of the main building have sectional garage doors, as does as secondary building. There are several tables and booths inside the small building; the outdoor space is massive, with a couple of dozen picnic tables scattered across about nearly a half an acre. Dogs and kids are both welcome. On a cool, sunny day after Christmas, the bright sunshine was enjoyable ― but I imagine that great open expanse of concrete devoid of any shade would feel like the so-called anvil of the sun in the punishingly hot Louisiana summer. As one would guess from its name ("Le Chien" is French for "The Dog"), the brewery is dedicated to a certain amount of canine shtick. Two-thirds of the beers on offer had rather groan-worthy dog-themed names like "Puppy Love" and "Tail Wagger." Were the beers excellent, this would be easily to overlook; sadly, they are not. Puppy Love was a allegedly a Belgian pale ale with a sharp, bitter, astringent taste of grapefruit peel and little else; Tail Wagger was supposed to be a witbier, but it had nearly no discernible flavors. Hi Biscuits! (as in dog biscuits) was a witbier with hibiscus. (Get the name now? Wocka wocka wocka.) It was just as insipid as the Tail Wagger... but it was pink. A pumpkin spice stout named, of course, "Pup-kin" (go ahead ― roll your eyes) had odd flavoring, tasting rather savory. This seems more appropriate for seasoning fried rice than drinking by the pint. Its 8% ABV also didn't encourage me to order any. The best two beers I had were the white stout ("Illusion") and old ale ("Bruce the Spruce Moose"). The former was nothing unique, just coffee, but it wasn't flat-out terrible like the others. The latter was the most interesting, though I wished it had more spruce flavor. Still, for an old ale, it was very drinkable and not too boozy. I wish they offered flights; I didn't finish either of my beers, partially because I didn't love them, but mostly because the ABV on both was pretty high. Most breweries serve smaller pours on high ABV brews, which would be nice. The fried boudin balls from their partner food truck were... not impressive. The interior was too wet and underflavored. Even the ranch served alongside seemed watered-down. For $9, it was not a good deal. Would I recommend visiting Le Chien? Honestly, no, not right now ― not until they are able to produce better beer. The product they're making just isn't good. And that's a shame because Le Chien has a nice (if undershaded) venue in Denham Springs' historic downtown, and it should be a good alternative to the chain restaurants and tacky sports bars along Interstate 12. Service was excellent, with friendly, personable servers that were a highlight of the experience. That said, I hope their beers will improve in time ― because I won't be back until they do. read more

The only brewery in Denham Springs doesn't mean they treat it like they've got no competition. Constantly improving, constantly brewing good beer, constantly slinging delicious handpies, Le Chien is a place you need to try. It is a great family-friendly hangout with a large enough paved space (now with a new pavilion for those rainy days too) that you can let the kids roam within eyesight as you enjoy beer and pie. The owners are all very attentive and friendly, and on those chilly evening will even come light one of the fire pits for you. Oh, and as the name implies, they're not just dog-friendly, they're dog-themed! Their beers are great too. I'm partial the Bruce the Spruce Moose, but I haven't had anything bad there ever. They've even got in house-made soft drinks and a few non beer alcoholic options! The house-made pies and other vittles are great too. A few rotate, like the beers, but some key faves stay on the menu. But it's worth going frequently to see what's new--or just grab an old favorite. read more

My wife and I had never been here so one Saturday recently we decided to check it out to have a beer and lunch. An employee quickly came to our table to tell us that they would not wait on us at our table and that we had to order at the bar. We went to the bar and saw that they had a small menu of maybe 5 items. Everything that we tried to order from the food menu, they told that they were out of. They had only been open for maybe 40 minutes and there were maybe 10 people in the place. I asked about ordering a beer and the bartender was a jerk and she acted like I was just bothering her. We just turned around and walked out of the place. It was a horrible experience and I won't return. read more

There isn't enough good that can be said about this place. The beer on tap is great. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about all their beers. The food truck is open a lot, and their meat pies and wraps are incredible. And then there's the live entertainment and great family atmosphere they set on the weekends. We have been here several times and the beer was great and we have eaten off the truck 4 different times. The first two times the food was awesome and receive our txt for pick up, but the last two times we had to go to the truck to check on our food order. When asked if we received our txt, no we did not. Knowing that the food had been under the heat lamp for some time (probably 15-20 min or more) no one went searching to find out who's meal it was and no offer to fix it, knowing that it would have been cold.
