I had Hawaiian food for the first time last year in Forth Walton and I absolutely loved it. I knew…read moreI had to have it again so when I saw we had an Hawaiian place I was excited.. I've always wanted to try this place and finally had the chance to. I went in at 10:30am as soon as they opened. I got the cove platter with the 3 meats. I chose chicken katsu, chicken teriyaki, and kalbi. I asked for brown rice instead of white and it came with a side of macaroni salad. The chicken katsu was very well fried. Very crunchy still since I made the trip to work and was able to still enjoy that crunch. The kalbi was okay it was marinated from what I could tell but I wasn't getting too much flavor from the meat. It was tender but it didn't have those grill marks or the char I was looking for. The chicken Teriyaki was a bit on the drier side for me. I was expecting the chicken to be in a sauce but it wasn't. It also didn't have that typical teriyaki flavor. They did put a sauce on the side im not sure what it was. It didn't stick to the chicken and the rice soaked it all up. The macaroni salad was a disappointment it was on the dry side with just egg and maybe a relish of some sort but that was it. I had to add a salt and pepper but still it was dry. The dumplings were the best thing, it comes with a tasty sweet chili sauce. The kimchi appeared to be old and didn't have flavor at all I didn't eat it. Unfortunately I may not be back.

We ordered the two meat plate (pork katsu and kalbi), spam musubi and the bulgogi burger. Kalbi was tender and had a good flavor, but meat was very thin. Pork katsu was ok - also very thin, but fried crisp on outside. Musubi was ok - a little dry. Burger was interesting. Not bad but probably wouldn't order again. The meat itself was marinated and tasted good. Again, the place was clean and the owners are very friendly and the food was good.

Our hibachi chef, Nendo, was hilarious & kept the entire table entertained with nonstop tricks, jokes, & incredible skills on the grill. Our waitress, Yeetea, was wonderful, attentive, friendly, & made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. We started with a variety of appetizers, including sushi, rolls & the Bang Bang shrimp, which were delicious. The hibachi portions were huge, so generous that we all ended up taking leftovers home. I also tried the Volcano cocktail made with 6 different rums. It was refreshing, smooth, & definitely packs a punch, so be sure to drink plenty of water! To top it all off, the staff surprised my daughter with a birthday celebration with a drum performance, a birthday sign, a cupcake with a candle, & everyone singing "Happy Birthday." It made her birthday even more memorable. Between the food, service, entertainment, & birthday celebration; 5 stars.

The server took our order & the drinks came a few minutes later. It was a 40-50 minutes until the chef arrived. Apparently they wanted to wait to see if someone else came in. There was a family of 6 that chose to sit elsewhere, so that "policy" is weird. We requested to pay for our drinks & leave but the server informed us the chef was almost done prepping. When he did finally come out, it was a good show. Even the kids enjoyed it. Our food was delicious: 2 hibachi chicken & shrimp with rice, kids meal hibachi chicken with noodles. Their cocktails were sweet but strong. The staff & environment is chill & kid friendly (booster & high chair available). Always clean. Great food experience but the wait & overall visit could've been better. The staff should give a disclosure before seating.

We started with the smoked queso and lump crab cakes, and both were outstanding. The crab cakes were packed with crab, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious. I ordered the blackened redfish with the white wine lemon butter sauce, loaded mashed potatoes, and roasted Brussels sprouts. Every single bite was incredible! The redfish was cooked perfectly, the sauce was rich without being too heavy, and I literally cleaned my plate, which almost never happens! We also tried the Catfish Acadian, and it was another fantastic Louisiana dish full of flavor. To top it all off, we finished with the famous carrot cake... and WOW! Huge slice, incredibly moist, and easily big enough to share. BRQ delivered on every level: amazing food, generous portions, great service, and a beautiful atmosphere. If you're visiting Baton Rouge or you're a local looking for an incredible meal, put BRQ at the top of your list. We'll definitely be back!

I love a waitress who's able to recommend items from the menu and she didn't give one bad suggestion. I love her personality just as much as I loved the food. Will most certainly be back in the NEAR future and would recommend this restaurant to new patrons.

The drinks were awesome, the food was good, and the vibe was perfectly tiki, in dare I say a sort of classy way (is that possible?). We were celebrating birthdays so we had our own cocktails and a shared drink, every drink was tasty, a couple were downright impressive, and our server was friendly, super knowledgeable about the drinks, and the right balance of attentive but not hovering. It was good, but there was ice in it, which was strange. So even though it looked huge, there was barely any actual drink/liquid in the glass. I don't remember what my husband's drink was, but as you can see, it was mostly ice. 2. For dinner we had the pimento cheese rangoons (phenomenal), Then we shared the korean fried chicken (it was very greasy, we get better at home), and the Pork Belly Lo Mein (good but greasy). 3. It was SO DARK in there we couldn't see our menus or food at all. I was using the battery powered tea lights as a flash light to see anything. This place was just OK, we wouldn't go back.

By dining here you also get to walk through the plantation gardens for free. The main dining room is nice w/ a giant table. Got seated in the side room. Service was attentive. The po boys looked like a good option with way more food for less... Give it a shot if you're in the area and want to a pretty dining experience.

After we finished our entrees, he brought the cake out and sliced it for us. When we got our checks, we had an additional charge of $84 for the slicing of the cake. Needless to say, we were beyond shocked that they would charge to slice OUR cake and charge us $6 per slice, without even telling us there would be additional charges to do that. The entrees were overpriced as it was so adding that extra amount was ridiculous. I have brought cakes to restaurants many times and have NEVER been charged a fee. I am still so mad about it. Needless to say, we will never go back to this place.

The service was wonderful, our waiter was very attentive, helpful, and friendly. It was a very cute establishment, but the food was just a big miss for me. I thought it was neat having several different choices of food, but I was expecting a little better quality food. The meat didn't taste all that great in my Udon combination. Not bad, just very cafeteria quality food. To be totally honest though, I think my hospital's cafeteria has much better food. We were recommended to try the honey garlic chicken, but we did not at all except to just receive a plate of fried chicken nuggets with honey mustard slathered all over them. Again, tasted just fine, but nothing special at all. The lo mein was quite bland to me. Never hurts to try something new though! Nonetheless, the happy hour was great. We got hot sake and egg rolls ($1.50!) and those were so good!! If I were in the area around happy hour, I would consider going back!
