1/2 shrimp poboy and corn & bisque soup. Wonderful.

$35 brunch buffet in a restaurant where there's no abilities to walk around other tables to reach the buffet in their back room. It's a bad setup that I wouldn't recommend they continue, especially on a day as popular as Mother's Day with lots of elderly families trying to walk back and forth. For the price they could just do table service and bring you food you choose from a menu. Their food and wait staff are good, but their brunch should be thought out better.

My bestie reserved this place for a small baby shower. Nice space for an intimate gathering with minimal decorations. The servers were great and super helpful. Mimosas were ordered, those were pretty good. Then it was time for entrees. I order the Chicken Breaux Bridge that was described as a Seafood stuffed chicken breast, wrapped in bacon, on a bed of angel hair pasta covered in a crawfish cream sauce. My pasta was was covered in sauce but no crawfish in sight. Our server went to the kitchen to get me some of the correct sauce. Even still it was a bit bland and the bacon could've stood a few more minutes cooking for a crispier texture. My friend got a steak that she said was horribly bland but she ate it anyway. Wouldn't say this place is the worst but they just need a lil more seasoning in their lives. The onion rings and corn maque choice were bomb though.

Yall. This place is so good. I'd seen it for years but never went. It's very pretty inside and decorated in an upscale cafe kind of style, yet still made for a very cozy and comfortable environment. I only got pics of two food items because we scarfed everything else down. My favorite was the NOLA chicken sandwich. My lord. Yall the bread was fantastic, the chicken was crunchy and juicy, and it just was the perfect sandwich. That sandwich is why it's a 5/5 I'm telling you. Chicken parm was super yummy too as well as both of our apps. But in my mind that chicken sandwich is the real winner. I really appreciated that busboys walked around constantly to clear the table of any empty plates. And our server was wonderful.

City has really easy parking, a good sized patio and bar space in addition to their restaurant. It was a favorite of mine in 2023 when I lived in BR. I've since moved away and was excited to swing by here when I was back in town for work and it did now disappoint. While service was a little scattered and slow, the chicken wrap was delicious. It's got a great balance of meat to veggies and sauce. I get the sweet potato fries because I LOVE the house made honey mustard. It's got a good balance of sweet and tang. My business colleague enjoyed the club (it's pretty big) and regular fries too.

I was taken to City Cafe when visiting family in the Baton Rouge area. The food was delicious, and our server was friendly and helpful. I can see why this place is a favorite for my BR family.

    Catfish with Cajun potatoes.

Catfish was excellent and so was our server. We got the key lime pie to go. At first I thought it was small for the price, but it was so rich and delicious! We highly recommend this place if you are visiting.

Kid-free lunch date before school pickup at City Cafe in Baton Rouge. We did the lunch special with soup and 4 chargrilled oysters. The chargrilled oysters were clean and cooked well, but they had a bit too much lemon zing for me. The lunch special portion was just enough for lunch. The seafood gumbo was extremely flavorful with a little kick, and I would definitely order it again. The shrimp and crab bisque was amazing -- the kind of soup you want the recipe for. I had the NOLA fried chicken sandwich. It was good, but not very flavorful on its own, so I had to doctor it up a bit. The fries were good, especially with ranch seasoning and a little drizzle of Tony's. Our bill was about $28 per person including fountain drinks, which felt fair for what we got. We sat outside and even though it was packed, the service stayed friendly and fairly quick. Overall: 4/5. I'd definitely go back, especially for the gumbo and bisque.

    Club Sandwich With Fries

To go order alert. I wanted a good old club sandwich on a Saturday night. I couldn't have chose a better place. The restaurant was packed for some odd reason so I decided to do curbside pickup even though I ordered in the parking lot. The curbside waiter was swift energetic and he was polite. My sandwich omg was delicious and gave me exactly what I was looking for. Instead of fries I chose the onion rings which were nice crispy and hot. I had a few fries mixed in there but it was okay.

The crab and corn bisque is my absolute favorite--it's rich, flavorful, and I order it every single time I come here. It never disappoints! The chargrilled oysters are also always on point--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. This place is a must-visit for seafood lovers!

One of my Baton Rouge favorites! I love the atmosphere; it has a family like setting but also nice for a food date night or corporate meeting. Service is great! I've had just about everything on the menu and have never had a complaint eating here. The chargrilled oysters are definitely my top 3. They have some amazing appetizers- the fried eggplant, wings, spinach and artichoke dip, and more.

The food was good . It could have used a little bit more love & care to make it better. For example: my omelette was just toppings inside an egg with some cheese on the bottom rather than having the cheese mixed throughout to marry all the ingredients . The beignets were just rolls with powdered sugar. We sat outside . I loved that the fans and covered area allowed us to be super comfortable in the Louisiana heat.

8-18-24 Awesome food and service!! I had the city cafe salad with grilled chicken with purple onions added. Krista was a very attentive polite & pleasant waitress! My second time here while out of town. I will be back! Atmosphere was very pleasant too! Not too loud.

Been going here for literally years! Always love the fast paced service, though the noise can get loud at times, the best time to go would be for lunch, when it gets to dinner that's when it has the opportunity to be really packed. I got one of my favorite staples, the hamburger nachos, though I don't always finish it, it's a great meal to share with others at your table.

1/2 Shrimp poboy (hold the lettuce & tomato & pickles on the side), with a side of seafood gumbo. Not pictured: Heinz Ketchup!

Before they changed names and menu names, the Ranchero with Bacon was the best thing you could get anywhere. It was fantastic. (Renamed as the Bacon Cheesy) The old pictures are gone now, but the Ranchero was a beautiful, smooth sphere, baked golden brown, with just the right amount of cheese and ranchero sauce. Now? Now it's a sad looking meat pie shaped thing, barely looks cooked through, no discernible cheese, no ranchero sauce, and a half-cold clump of pre-cooked bacon bits inside. Last time I ordered a breakfast taco, it was so greasy it dripped onto my shirt. And anything that greasy just isn't good anyway. The dough used for the regular kolaches is good (a bit sweet), but the smoked sausage kolache has a sad, thin piece of sausage in it. That original Ranchero was sooo good, I keep going back hoping for a comeback. I'm just torturing myself.
