$35 brunch buffet in a restaurant where there's no abilities to walk around other tables to reach the buffet in their back room. It's a bad setup that I wouldn't recommend they continue, especially on a day as popular as Mother's Day with lots of elderly families trying to walk back and forth. For the price they could just do table service and bring you food you choose from a menu. Their food and wait staff are good, but their brunch should be thought out better.

City has really easy parking, a good sized patio and bar space in addition to their restaurant. It was a favorite of mine in 2023 when I lived in BR. I've since moved away and was excited to swing by here when I was back in town for work and it did now disappoint. While service was a little scattered and slow, the chicken wrap was delicious. It's got a great balance of meat to veggies and sauce. I get the sweet potato fries because I LOVE the house made honey mustard. It's got a good balance of sweet and tang. My business colleague enjoyed the club (it's pretty big) and regular fries too.

Kid-free lunch date before school pickup at City Cafe in Baton Rouge. We did the lunch special with soup and 4 chargrilled oysters. The chargrilled oysters were clean and cooked well, but they had a bit too much lemon zing for me. The lunch special portion was just enough for lunch. The seafood gumbo was extremely flavorful with a little kick, and I would definitely order it again. The shrimp and crab bisque was amazing -- the kind of soup you want the recipe for. I had the NOLA fried chicken sandwich. It was good, but not very flavorful on its own, so I had to doctor it up a bit. The fries were good, especially with ranch seasoning and a little drizzle of Tony's. Our bill was about $28 per person including fountain drinks, which felt fair for what we got. We sat outside and even though it was packed, the service stayed friendly and fairly quick. Overall: 4/5. I'd definitely go back, especially for the gumbo and bisque.

To go order alert. I wanted a good old club sandwich on a Saturday night. I couldn't have chose a better place. The restaurant was packed for some odd reason so I decided to do curbside pickup even though I ordered in the parking lot. The curbside waiter was swift energetic and he was polite. My sandwich omg was delicious and gave me exactly what I was looking for. Instead of fries I chose the onion rings which were nice crispy and hot. I had a few fries mixed in there but it was okay.

The crab and corn bisque is my absolute favorite--it's rich, flavorful, and I order it every single time I come here. It never disappoints! The chargrilled oysters are also always on point--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. This place is a must-visit for seafood lovers!

One of my Baton Rouge favorites! I love the atmosphere; it has a family like setting but also nice for a food date night or corporate meeting. Service is great! I've had just about everything on the menu and have never had a complaint eating here. The chargrilled oysters are definitely my top 3. They have some amazing appetizers- the fried eggplant, wings, spinach and artichoke dip, and more.

The food was good . It could have used a little bit more love & care to make it better. For example: my omelette was just toppings inside an egg with some cheese on the bottom rather than having the cheese mixed throughout to marry all the ingredients . The beignets were just rolls with powdered sugar. We sat outside . I loved that the fans and covered area allowed us to be super comfortable in the Louisiana heat.

8-18-24 Awesome food and service!! I had the city cafe salad with grilled chicken with purple onions added. Krista was a very attentive polite & pleasant waitress! My second time here while out of town. I will be back! Atmosphere was very pleasant too! Not too loud.

Been going here for literally years! Always love the fast paced service, though the noise can get loud at times, the best time to go would be for lunch, when it gets to dinner that's when it has the opportunity to be really packed. I got one of my favorite staples, the hamburger nachos, though I don't always finish it, it's a great meal to share with others at your table.

Tried 1/2 a fried shrimp poboy with cup of seafood gumbo and both were good. I'm particular about shrimp and both the shrimp and batter were perfect. They use NOLA made Leidenheimer poboy bread. The gumbo was pretty good too.. reminded me of the old Piccadeli gumbo. I'll be back to try the weekly lunch specials which appear to be a great value. I asked the waitress for a taste of the gravy used on the sliced roast beef poboys, just to see if it was the NOLA style I've been craving. It didn't have much flavor though. All in all, I enjoyed the food, it was served quickly and the bar had a nice atmosphere. Noticed the nice sized patio for future reference.. needed the a/c today and it was appreciated. Brought in a light sweater and didn't really need it. I'll be back to try more seafood.

The food was great and the service was good as well. The food had great flavor. They had quite a few options that made it hard to figure out what to try. We will have to go back and try some other things from the menu. Craft beers on tap.

I wish I could give it a 4.5. Great staff 9 -10 there are great. These people are good at what they do. Oysters, pastas, salads, burgers and even a chicken or fish dish. Good location and mainly locals. Love it a family friendly sports bar with great food

My recent visit was a Saturday afternoon---before we went, we called to make sure they had boiled crawfish available---the staff (person who answered the phone) told us yes and told us price per pound so no secrecy from them. When I arrived I was 12th in line but it was still only a 10 minute visit---at the counter they had 3 people---1 solely to take orders and fill orders, another who rang you up and the other helped the two described above. They had boiled crawfish and boiled shrimp--the boiled shrimp was sold with or without heads. Additionally they had the customary fixings such as potatoes and corn. All of the orders ahead of me ordered some or all as described---not sure what else they had on Sunday besides this but nothing else was needed. As for the boiled crawfish, I was very impressed with the size of the bugs and the flavor---seasoning was great for me but others may prefer it even hotter. I will return.

A True Hidden Gem - Lagniappe Steak & Seafood (Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA)…read more I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lagniappe Steak & Seafood on Bluebonnet, and it is without question one of Baton Rouge's best-kept restaurant secrets. On my first visit this past Wednesday, I ordered the fried shrimp and catfish lunch special, and immediately knew this place was different. The seafood was perfectly seasoned--not overly salted or heavily breaded, just a delicate, crisp coating that highlighted the freshness and natural flavor. The servers were exceptionally professional--friendly and attentive without being overly familiar, which I truly appreciate. What took the experience to the next level was when Anas, the manager or owner, personally came out to check on my meal. She was tall, poised, and stunning--truly looked like she could walk a high-fashion runway in Paris! Her elegance and hospitality added a touch of class you just don't see often anymore. I was so impressed that I returned two days later--the day after Thanksgiving--to try the grilled pork chop I've been hearing people rave about. Let me tell you... WOW. It was phenomenal. Juicy, tender, perfectly grilled with picture-perfect char marks--honestly felt like eating a premium steak. I give it a 10/10 without hesitation. On that visit, Jennifer was my server and she was fantastic--attentive, warm, and highly professional. Now here's the part that blows people's minds: these incredible meals were part of the lunch special, priced similarly to what most folks spend at a fast-food restaurant for a two-piece combo with fries and a drink. Same price--completely different level of dining. And for those who don't know: I've traveled all over the world and I am the ultimate foodie--something my followers know well. I live for great cuisine, authentic flavor, and memorable dining experiences. So when I tell you this place is worth your time, believe me. --- When in Baton Rouge, go to Lagniappe Steak & Seafood. You will not be disappointed by the ambience, service, or the quality of the food. A genuine 5-star dining experience and without a doubt one of the finest hidden gems in the city.

We opened the doors unsure if we should sit anywhere or wait to be seated but before we had a chance to pull out chairs for ourselves a young lady asked us how many in our party as she guided us to a nice little corner table big enough for me and my three kids. She had menus in hand and seemed to have our drinks back to us before I could open the cover. I wanted to try a variety and our server recommended the Half Shell Seafood platter. I decided to mix it up a little and opted for blackened catfish and shrimp, grilled oysters, and of course a deep fried crab cake and a deep fried stuffed shrimp. This platter also came with a side salad and a bowl of seafood gumbo. All of it was too shelf and tasted like it was made to order. For an appetizer I went with the crispy artichoke hearts and let me tell ya, that was the right choice! The artichokes came out first and I had never had any other than in a spinach dip, now I couldn't imagine having them any other way. The perfect combination of tart and robust with a crispy, crunchy coating, these little vegetable orgasms were sprinkled with fresh shredded Parmesan and paired perfectly with the house marinara sauce. The order was big enough for both me and my two kids, but I devoured the plate before they had a chance to eat more than just a few. Even the blooming onion takes a backseat to my new favorite app. When the Half Shell Platter arrived I was anxious to see what kind of shock my tastebuds were about to experience and I was surprised in the best way. The catfish was cooked to perfection with a blackened flavor you can't match at home. The shrimp too, perfectly cooked and seasoned with no trace of a rubbery bite or overpowering flavor. First time having oysters grilled and I've got to say raw will always reign supreme, but these were a close second. The rest of the plate was what you'd expect, predictable and delicious. Not the kind of hole in the wall establishment I was looking for, but exactly the kind of authenticity. The server kept the drinks full and the table clear. We had a next to nothing wait time and the food was a 10/10. Well deserving of a five star rating, if I'm ever back in Baton Rouge I'll be stopping in again.

I noticed that there were many employees standing around doing nothing, although I expect that later that evening, the place got really , Although the place was nearly empty, they still seated us close to the door to the kitchen, which I really didn't appreciate. We both ordered the softshell crawfish, and I was delighted that they brought out hush puppies at no charge as soon as we sat down. It didn't take long for them to bring out the soft shell crawfish along with a dipping sauce that was something unfamiliar. My friend didn't really like it, and I used it, but was rather ambivalent about it. The soft show crawfish seemed overcooked to me, and I've had fried crawfish tails many times that were much better. At least I can now say that I have actually had the chance to try a softshell crawfish. Also, since the proceeds from sale of the softshell crawfish, we're going to medical expenses for the owner's daughter's liver transplant, I was happy to contribute to that cause. I would go back to Dukes again, but I would order something other than the softshell crawfish.
