The first time I had a Roul's burger was right off the campus of LSU while I was getting my undergraduate degree. I remember it being huge and delicious. To find out there was a location that opened nearer to home was so exciting. It had been wayyyy too long since I had one of the burgers and I absolutely love a good burger. If I was basing this review alone on the burger and the service, it would be a 5 star review. However, I also had the fries as it comes with the meal. I don't think you can just order a burger. However, you do have the option of onion rings or a side salad for an alternative side option, which is nice. I love a good order of fries, which was my side choice. I mentioned good fries, because these were forgettable. They weren't the worst that I've ever had, and if you like frozen seasoned fries you might like them more than me. I found them on the dry side. I may have liked them more if they were served with sauce other than ketchup. The burger did not disappoint. It's much bigger than what you get a most places. The patty was simply seasoned with what I think was salt and pepper, which really allowed the freshness to shine through and allowed the other burger ingredients to stand out. I would put this up against any of the other top burger places in BR, and the value exceeds any of them I am sure. Haven't dined at Roul's in a long time due to product inconsistencies over time. Roul's Deli used to be one of my favorite places to get a good burger. Today, my wife and I opted to give this location a try. We arrived around 7:00 PM and decided to dine in. The dining room was very clean, and there were several other customers waiting on their orders. After placing our order at the counter, we grabbed a seat and waited about 10 minutes for our food to be ready. We each ordered the shrimp burger, which is a 1/2 lb. burger with shrimp, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo, ketchup, onions, pepper jack cheese, and served with fries or onion rings and a drink for $13.99 each with .75 up charge for the onion rings. I really wish there were a la carte pricing where I could just order a burger rather than being forced to purchase a combo meal. The burger was average, nothing to write home about and it did not taste like the burger I used to get from Roul's back in the days. The burger bun was soft and fresh, but very greasy. The burger patty did not taste fresh, it was dry, over cooked, and lacked flavor. There were only three or four shrimps on the burger, and the burger was topped with very little lettuce and other fresh condiments. I couldn't even taste the onions, tomatoes, and pickles. I personally like a lot of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions on my burger to enhance the overall burger taste and experience. Both the fries and onion rings were plentiful, hot and golden brown, but like the burger they lacked seasoning and flavor. Also, the onion rings were cooked from frozen and made fresh. I remember Roul's having the best seasoned fries and seasoned burger patties and that's what drove me to enjoy dining at Roul's Deli, but not today. There's room for improvement. Came here one Saturday evening around 4. They had a lot of foot traffic in and out. Most orders were for pick up. There were families eating inside and I see why. There was an off smell, sour smell. Good thing they had a small outdoor eating area. We ordered 2 pitas. One grilled chicken and shrimp and one fried fish one. After a while my husband looked at his receipt and notice the fish one said poboy. He notified the guy at the register and he went to the back to correct the order, however when my husband unwrapped it he had a poboy. He decided to keep it since the sign by the register said must check food before walking out of the restaurant. My pita was good, seasoned just right but after a little while the bread was a little sloppy. I'd probably get it fried next time. The onion rings were decent. Inside was spacious yet could tell it was an older place, nothing wrong with that, in fact it confirmed my suspicions and the food was good. The service was great. Now it wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst. I had the A1 burger and sadly could not tell if they even used A1 on it, the beef needed some more seasoning to it. I asked for salt for my onion rings and was told they didn't have any. Prob explains why the burger was so bland. I got the meal which also came with a drink. I was not a fan of Rouls due to my experience at the LSU location. But this newly opened location? OMG I LOVE! I've eaten here a few times already and I haven't been let down. The burgers are huge and seasoned extremely well. The wings are pretty good as well as stated from my date. I'll be back to this location only from now on. October 6, 2025. We ate at the O'Neal Lane location. Very rude employee. Menu said that the $12.00 Hamburger came with French Fries OR Onion Rings, so we got the Onion Rings for one order and French Fries for the other order. But they charged us $.75 for the order with the Onion Rings. I went and asked the Guy about the $.75 charge. He said it was an extra $.50 charge for the Onion Rings. I told the guy that it does not say that on the menu. I also told the guy, well you charged me $.75; but on the menu it does not say anything about an extra charge for the Onion Rings So he finally gave us the $.75 back, which did not include the tax on the $.75, but that is ok. It took a while to get our Hamburgers, I guess because they had to cut them in half. But, the Hamburgers were pretty good. And, you HAVE to get the Combo with the French Fries or Onion Rings and a Pepsi type Drink. You cannot just get a Hamburger by itself. And they were out of Dr. Pepper and the Root-beer was flat. And, their Seafood is NOT Louisiana Seafood. It is Imported from China. I doubt we will go back there. read more

Food is not impressive. Tried hamburgers. Will not visit again as this was our second trip to the restaurant and were disappointed.

Let me first say that I love Roul's food. I have certainly eaten there more than once. I always go to the O'Neal location. But when I went there yesterday (10/28), I found the place dirty. Only one other couple there. The tables were uncleaned, trash on the floor, the drink machine not working, no water in the bathrooms and no AC. A customer came in to get a pick up order and he actually picked up some of the trash on the floor as he left the store. This is not the first time it has been too hot in the store. I had to get my order to go because it was so warm inside. I'm really disappointed in the conditions of the restaurant. No way to contact them and know that the owner actually hears your comments. read more

Food is as greasy as I remember their first location so many years ago at LSU, but man, so many wild flavors now! Took about 20 minutes from ordering to eating, Great burger, delicious fries, and the egg roll dessert was phenomenal! BUT... and the sit-down experience is *NOT* recommended. The whole place reeks of grease and will saturate you, your clothing, your hair, etc. Very unfortunate as it's a very new building and has alot going for it with ventilation. Another downside was everything being served in to-go styrofoam, no forks/spoons, and we had to clean our own table. Roul's is also Pepsi-only, which made us both sad. I split everything with my wife and we have leftovers of half the fries. Service: The girl at the service counter was very friendly and nice. I ordered at the counter and got the food to go. Ordered the Roul Burger with fries and onion rings. The burger was not fresh or juicy. My tomato was 2 small pieces, the onion was a few chopped pieces, lettuce looked old. The pickles were just that, pickles. Bun was burnt on the bottom. Really disappointing. The fries were old and greasy. My search for an awesome burger will continue on. Would not eat here if it was the last place on Earth. I called in an order. I had to repeat myself three times for them to understand it. I drive the 20 minutes to get the food. I walk in, tell the young lady my name, she gets a big worried look on her face, looks to the left where I assume orders go, and then starts talking to the other young lady about my ticket. Came here for the 1st time after hearing alot of good things about this place. I am very satisfied the food is delicious. I highly recommend you try this place if you havent. Wings were decent... kind of vinegar tasting but overall fine. My burger however fell apart the minute I picked it up into crumbly pieces. I asked for it plain with avocado and it had mustard all over the bread and a little on the avocado... (apparently from the cooks gloves which grossed me out) .. the meat also had visible onions and peppers incorporated so if you like plain meat then this isn't the place for you burger wise. My avocado was inedible ... you couldn't even bend it because it was so unripe ... it was like rubber. Shrimp tough and fishy but edible. When I asked for a refund at this point for too many things wrong and me being dissatisfied they said they don't do any refunds or exchanges no matter what... which is insane to me. If a customer is truly dissatisfied for any reason then they should be reimbursed... they did end up giving me a catfish plate since I wasn't happy so I'm not super disappointed and for that I'm leaving 3 stars, but customer service could use some tweaking. We all ordered the crawfish egg rolls and they were very good along with the sauce served with it. I only took 1 star away for several reasons because the food was worth recommending and going back for the next time we are in the area. If you plan to order water to drink, perhaps consider taking your own or be prepared to pay $1.75 for a cup to get water out of the fountain drink machine. I would expect a bottle for that cost and I'm not a cheap person. The bathroom was incredibly filthy, and the table where we sat was in such bad shape that we had to constantly keep it balanced so it didn't flip. The lady taking orders seemed odd or just not quite what you'd expect from someone receiving tips from patrons. Weird! Plus, I am 100% sure I wouldn't have given a tip if I had noticed I was being charged $1.75 for a styrofoam cup. Thats unethical and will not happen again. (I tipped 20% even though there is no table service whatsoever.) read more
