The space is a very casual vibe which is fine, but the lack of proper plates and silverware is a bit off putting. The menu is limited to pizzas only, which is also a fad disappointing because having some salads and apps would be nice. Now, I really did enjoy my Summer in Sicily Cocktail. We tried a few pizzas - Better of Veg (pretty average), Ricky Ricotta sub vegan sausage (love the vegan sausage option) and the Crust Fund Baby (I took the pepperoni off, really nice Gorgonzola cheese flavor). My favorite was the Sake Mountain Way, with a bright and fruity sauce paired with rich and delicious cheese. I also enjoyed the vegetarian version of Ricky Ricotta, though I felt the vegan sausage was a bit too soft for my taste. For dessert, we had the bananamisu. It was pretty weird - the coffee flavor is concentrated on the bottom, so most of it is really just banana pudding with some chocolate crumb on top. The banana chips on top were the best part, and I really wish there were more of them. I'd skip it next time. I also loved the retro decor and vintage posters on the inside, which made for a cozy vibe with dim lighting. The prices worked out to $78 with tax and tip for two people. When I have friends visiting from out of that want a great NYC style pizza yet want to have a sit down experience, Paulie Gee's always comes to mind. The service is alway welcoming and the vibe is just right for the cool / hip neighborhood of Greenpoint. My favorites here are the Hellboy which is their version of the classic pepperoni with the perfect amount of Mike's Hot Honey. I like to get it with extra garlic topping as it brings out the flavors more. The Cesar salad is also delicious, however they are not shy with the dressing so ask for it on the side if you like it lighter on the dressing. All in all, I highly recommend Paulie Gee's for a classic NY pizza experience. I will be back to try some of the square pizza's they also have on the menu! read more

Paulie Gee's is a Neapolitan-style pizzeria that opened in Brooklyn, New York in March 2010. It was founded by restaurateur Paulie Giannone. Prior to getting into the pizza business, Giannone had a career in information technology, working for various telecommunications corporations and later as a consultant. Disillusioned with his career, he built a pizza oven in his backyard and developed a following in the online pizza community. He opened his first pizzeria in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood. It serves wood-fired Neapolitan pies with eclectic topping combinations in a rustic dining experience. It quickly became one of the most popular pizzerias in NYC. The pizzeria does not take reservations and long lines frequently form around the block. By late 2014, the pizzeria discontinued take-out because Giannone wanted customers to enjoy the pizza fresh out of the oven and enjoy the dine-in experience. In August 2018, Giannone opened "Paulie Gee's Slice Shop" around the corner. This new spin-off pizzeria is a tribute to the classic NYC slice shops of the '60s and '70s that Giannone grew up with. In recent years, additional Paulie Gee's locations have popped up in Chicago, Baltimore and Columbus, while additional Slice Shop locations have opened in Chicago and Philadelphia. I recently visited Paulie Gee's while I was in Brooklyn to see a concert. I arrived early in the day so I could explore some beer bars and shops throughout Williamsburg and Greenpoint. While exploring the craft beer bar and bottle shop Browerij Lane, I suddenly smelled some delicious pizza and realized that Paulie Gee's was just a couple doors down. I had previously visited Paulie Gee's Slice Shop and loved it; now I thought that I would try out the OG Paulie Gee's. The difference between the two pizzerias is like night and day. At the slice shop you will get a classic New York slice shop experience. At the original Paulie Gee's, you feel like you're at a rustic Neapolitan sit-down restaurant, right down to the dim lighting. The kitchen was complete with a beautiful Stefano Ferrara Forni wood-fired oven that had a lemon mosaic that reminded me of Italy's Amalfi Coast. I began to look over the menu. Although I had planned on ordering some kind of red pie, the description for the "Greenpointer" (fresh mozzarella, baby rugula, olive oil, fresh lemon juice, shaved Parmigiano Reggiano) sounded too good to pass up. It was fantastic! I agree with Paulie Gee's philosophy with how artisanal wood-fried pies like these are best enjoyed right out of the oven. I had an excellent experience at Paulie Gee's and hope to return here (and to the Slice Shop) with my family in the future! read more

The back wall is where the magic happens! That is where " The Napoli" pizza oven greets you! We were the last customers for the evening for our server Jordan. This was only her 2nd day on the job, yet friendliness, positive vibe and energy and knowledge lead us to believe as if she has been working there for years! Went here last night and unfortunately was an unethical human being (came 5 minutes before closing) and the front desk guy taking our order was so funny and sweet and got our orders in right before close! Went for the typical 2 plain 2 pepperoni slices with my boyfriend and we absolutely loved it. I think we devoured the slices in about 5 minutes tops. Really some of the best pizza I've had in a minute! The spot is really cozy and has the best decor of old records and has an old-timey feel and really can't wait to come back (and at a more appropriate time). My friends and I were at the ninja park nearby and wanted to grab a bite after. It was a rainy day and at 10pm the wait-time was about 1hr for 3 people. We actually went to a bar nearby and they notified us that our table was ready within 20 min so we downed our drinks and rushed on over lol. The space is pretty big and can accommodate with a large parties. We got the secret pasta and the hell boy pizza. Both were really good. We were walking to our car to go to our next destination when all of the sudden our noses were hit with a cheesy smell. The a very strong whoa this is so cheesy smell. We turned to each other and said, "where's that from?". Upon realizing it was a pizzeria we noted the name of the restaurant for the future. We got to the car and said just one slice wouldn't hurt. Getting back out of the car and ordering a slice was the best decision made all day. We wanted to try the hellboy but couldn't afford the 10min wait so opted for the Mootz to go. Everybody loves a Brooklyn pizza and Paulie Gee's is a staple. From rave reviews from chefs to all my vegan friends who love their pizza, I decided it was finally time to give Paulie a shot. My partner and I popped in on a Saturday evening and waited about 30 minutes before we were seated. The place is rustic casual and has a real old school charm. Pizza paraphernalia adorn the walls and an old school coca cola vending machine (pretty sure it was just for show) give the place a hip and divey vibe. Per our waitress' recommendation, we ordered the two most popular pizzas: the Greenpointer and the Hellboy. The Hellboy was delicious with its crispy and savory sopressata dashed with Mike's hot honey and the Greenpointer was also very good with the nutty parmigiano and zesty lemon. The two pizzas complemented one another with the Hellboy being richer in flavor and the Greenpointer being a nice closer with the refreshing lemon. My only gripe was with the Greenpointer. I think that the amount of arugula to cheese ratio was off and made the pizza a little dry (since there's so much arugula). While we were eating, the waitress checked in with us during our meal to make sure things were smooth. Service was friendly. Paulie Gee's has been on my list to try for a while and it did not disappoint! I got the Greenpointer (a heavily arugula'd pie with parmesan and lemon). Things could have gone very sideways with this pie and all its greens, but it was delicious! Paulie Gee's absolutely nails it on the crust. If you like a soft, chewy, air bubble baked crust, this is the spot for you. Crispy crust lovers (ew!) keep it moving. Overall, the neopolitan pizzas are fantastic. They were the right crisp, the crust was fluffy, and the sauce/topping/dough ratio were pretty even. The Hellboy (we added arugula) was delicious especially since I enjoy hot honey. The sake mountain way pizza kind of resembled a simple cheese pizza since all the toppings were blended into a sauce, so when we brought some slices back home, we added mushrooms and bacon on top to add some different texture. Came here based on reviews, recommendations, and articles on pizza places to try in nyc. I must say it didn't blow my mind, but it did meet my expectations. When you first locate the place, it looks like a warehouse based on the front door. However, when you get past the door, it's much different from what you perceive it to be on the inside. There's a big white pizza oven right smack in the back room. They have all these awards displayed in the lobby. Look for the dessert menu on a chalkboard by the entrance of the bathroom. For the table, we ordered the hot honey sundae. I got pizza off their menu, and I was able to finish it for the most part. Each pie is a personal pan, and there's vegan ones, too. The one that I got was called Hellboy, which had fresh mozzarella, Italian tomatoes, soppressata picante, and Mike's hot honey. For dessert, we ordered for the table - Mike's Hot Honey Sundae, which comes with vanilla ice cream, Mikes hot honey, and candied pecans. The ice cream definitely hit the spot. Service at the table SUCKED so badly. Paulie comes over to say hi as always. He says "so glad you came back." We've been coming here since they opened and have never had even a minute of poor service. So tonight was exceptional. Exceptionally poor. Young woman in denim shirt took our food order. Had a great time at Paulie Gee's and even got to meet Paulie Gee! Loved the unique pizzas and enjoyed the vibes of this spot a lot. I would not consider this the best pizza ever, but I did like trying the pizza. We walked over the bridge at around 5:30. We sat at the bar and the bar is elevated, so you're looking up at the server. The place is a vibe! We ordered the hellboy and the Regina. I thought they both tasted great. The crust does get a bit soggy and I did think they pizzas were slightly on the oily/salty side. However, it was all-in-all a good experience. The two pies were more than enough for two people. We had a few slices left over and brought them home, I don't think they held up too well after a day.
