I have been to the location in Lincroft and enjoyed my food and experience. I was highly interested when my Dad mentioned this new spot in Jackson. I checked it out on Yelp and it has a pretty poor rating and I was interested to see if that was truly justified. As many others had mentioned, the lay out of the restaurant is confusing and very awkward. It lacks flow and you end up practically tripping over the other patrons both when ordering and paying. I was very surprised to find the comments about the manager were 100% accurate. It was hard to ignore the him barking and belittling the young staff. He was the one to take my order. Right in the middle writing my order down he stopped and started taking the order of a woman who wanted to add something to the order she had already placed. No "Excuse me", "Pardon me", "Can you wait one moment, please?", "Sorry, I'll be right back with you"... it's like I disappeared. It was pretty rude. I ordered the medium pastrami ruben, a small order of potato latkas and what I thought were going to be 2 large dill pickles (you know the kind you used to find in a big barrel in grocery stores). I aimed for everything they claimed to specialize in in one meal. When I was rung up, I noticed there was only one pickle. I told the cashier I asked for two. She said I something about I only ordered a medium sandwich so I only get one. I thought I was buying the pickles. I guess you can't? Then why have a big ol' pickle bar on display? Anyway, the jerky manager came up and tells me "Oh, I know what you want." He comes back with 2 small pickles and said they are their "half sours". Um, ok, whatever. Not sure what happened there but I can hardly get upset over pickles. My total was $25. A little steep for a sandwich, a side, a pickle and 2 sodas. But I guess IF they make the pastrami in house, it's worth the premium price (not sure they do though). The hot pastrami ruben was good. Not great though. Not as terrible as some of the other reviews made it seem. I'd say is perhaps a smidge over Jersey diner quality. The pastrami was moist, flavorful and neither too fatty or not fatty enough. The portion was appropriate for me personally. If you're expecting a Carnegie Deli mountainous type sandwich, you will be disappointed. The bread was only toasted on one side and it was a bit soggy/greasy. I did drive 10 minutes back to work with it so maybe the steam in the wax paper made it fall apart more. The bread didn't taste or look like rye, which is used in traditional rubens. The latkas were good as well. The portion was large for something described as a "side". I would have preferred to have had just 2 with a small order instead of 4, as I could not finish them all. Overall, the food was pretty decent. The manager is mean, the customer service is poor and the whole operation needs some major adjustments. The location is relatively convenient for me. The design of the strip mall it is in is harder to get into if you coming from the south or the east though. Parking is usually pretty plentiful. I'm not sure if you can order delivery from here but not having to go in at all may give you a better overall experience if you decide to try it.

I've had take out from here a handful of times, but tonight is the last. This is how they cut salami -- I asked for 1/2 pound and got 5 slices this thick. How is this edible on a sandwich? Service wasn't very good either...

Food was ok but not great. Ordered the graduate sandwich which was different, a bit messy, but tasty. We also ordered pastrami sandwiches and was surprised that American cheese was on the sandwich. I think a Swiss or provolone would have been better. Ordered some fries and there could have been more topping but fries were hot. Pickles did come with our food and had I known I might not have ordered a side of pickles. We had our food delivered and it arrived quickly.

Great sammiches. Great service. I believe that it is wrong for Yelp to require 85 characters to give a thumbs up to a restaurant.

Honestly, it's good enough to deserve both names. The potato latkes (or pancakes, depending on what you call them) absolutely stole the show. They came out hot and crispy straight from the fryer, served with sour cream and applesauce--every bite was better than the last. One thing I really appreciated: the owner/chef is very knowledgeable about the ingredients. I eat gluten-free, and he confidently assured me the latkes were gluten-free. I had no issues afterward, which is always the best confirmation. My husband had the pastrami sandwich and loved it. I ordered the brisket with coleslaw and a pickle--very good overall. It was just a touch salty for my taste, but I'd definitely order it again, maybe with sauce next time for a bit of balance. Also worth calling out: the place was absolutely spotless. It's rare to see a restaurant this clean and well-kept, and that really stood out. Already planning my next visit--those latkes alone are worth the trip!

We found this place on Yelp after doing a quick search for delis in the area and could not have expected it to be soooo cute! I should have, they are in Ocean Grove, arguably the cutest NJ beach town there is. We ordered online and they were all ready for pick up in less than 20 minutes. Our group ordered 5 different sandwiches, and all were made correctly and were delicious. They had plenty of accommodations for our one gluten free friend (she ended up going with a lettuce wrap and raved about how perfect her sandwich was). My tuna sandwich hit the spot. Sandwiches were anywhere from $17-25 each, so not cheap at all, but when everyone is beyond happy, it's worth it. They had a few seats inside, and the three lovely ladies working were all so friendly and helpful. They are on an adorable street filled with shops, not far from the water, so if you have time I recommend a little bopping around.

I loved the spinach on my sandwich. The mozzarella was also perfection. The ingredients are high quality and we raved about our food. The service was a bit scattered, but we walked in behind a duo that ordered 8 sandwiches, so we empathize with the chaos!

The line at the door was bananas. But after a 45-minute drive, I wasn't turning around. Pre-surgery gluttonous me was getting this sandwich. I stood in line for another 45 minutes -- plenty of time to decide on the signature cheesesteak. When I got to the register, they gave me the heads-up: $45 for the cheesesteak. At that point the only thing that could ruin it was if it wasn't good. I also grabbed a few extras -- the prosciutto balls (if you know, you know) and some Italian vanilla wafer cookies that are outstanding. Decision time: eat it in the parking lot, or drive 45 minutes home first? I chose to wait. The smell in the car the whole ride back was borderline sinful. Got home, washed up, unwrapped it -- and this thing was enormous, clearly not just chopped-up steak thrown on bread. First bite in, I knew I wasn't in Kansas anymore. It'll probably take me a few weeks to finish (it's that big), but I'm already planning my return trip. Bonus points: while we waited, they kept coming out with fresh hot cheese tortellini and handing out free samples to everyone in line. When I paid, they threw in a whole separate container of it too. For context -- I'm a Philly guy. I'll drive an hour and a half for a cheesesteak without blinking. This place is 45 minutes away and it's still worth it. That says everything. The space itself is bright, clean, and stacked with an incredible variety of Italian fare. Bring patience, bring an appetite, and run -- don't walk. You will not regret it. 5/5 stars. 544 NJ-35, Red Bank, NJ 07701 talierciosdeli.com IG/FB: @taliercios
