Food was delicious I got the breakfast combo 2 with corned beef hash, the corned beef hash was amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The establishment is big and the turnover is at a good pace. Walked in with my niece and everyone waived hi back to her as we walked to our table. High chair waiting for us. Went for brunch with the family after granddaughters dance recital. Old fashioned luncheonette, BUT service and food was excellent. They made accommodations for the 8 of us with no problem. Started off with a nice hot cup of coffee and brought the kids something to drink as well. I had an egg let with Swiss cheese, mushrooms and Canadian Ham. Sides were toast, and fries. My husband had a salad platter, all homemade: red skin potato salad, Cole slaw, egg salad, tuna salad and macaroni salad. Kids had sliders, pancakes, grilled cheese. It's been a while since I've been able to come to my former hangout when I lived here in New Jersey. This place is exactly the same as I remember, which is to say outstanding. The same family runs the operation and while there are many new faces behind the counter, it is exactly the same service and quality of food. Today's lunch was a pork roll with cheese on a hard roll with some fries and brown gravy. Quite simply the best you'll have out here. If you're in the area stop in, but please note they are only open for breakfast and lunch generally. Located in Jackson this place is a gem. The portions are generous and the breakfast burrito is highly recommended. The ambiance was pleasant from the locals and staff everyone was friendly. Except our waitress it felt like we were bothering her by being there. We notice other staff member being so nice to their patrons we even had another waitress be attentive to us more than our original waitress. Would I still recommend this place? Yes, because I believe in second chances especially since it was one person and we are human. Bad days happen. I've eaten here many times over the years. This morning I was surprised to see a 3.95% surcharge for credit card use. Frankly, I'm tired of this new phase with restaurants. The costs for meals over the past few years is bad enough. But to add almost 4% to my bill even when I use a debit card is over the line. Came back to The Mug Rack over the weekend for breakfast w/ the wife & In-Laws. We were seated right away, place was moderately busy for a Sunday morning at 8am. I ordered a sausage, egg & cheese on a hard roll -- a VERY large sandwich, overall though, I thought it tasted just OK. Other breakfasts ordered were average & pretty standard. My wife had the Eggs Benedict -- the eggs were overdone, yolk was not runny. But that does seem to happen a lot when ordering Eggs Benedict, I suspect many places pre-cook the poached eggs then re-heat them when a Benedict is ordered. She also felt the hollandaise sauce was too sweet. It's hard to find an Eggs Benedict done right. Service was good and the prices are reasonable at The Mug Rack. read more

We told her we had a group of 13 and she could spread us out across multiple tables or counter space. There was no one ahead of us and multiple tables and counter space open. Poor service and rude manager, Denise and waitress, Penny. Penny was abusive to me and my guest. She demanded the two of us to sit at a crowded counter when there were at least 6 tables and booths available that could seat four. We chose to sit at a booth. She asked us to move to the counter and we said no. She wanted bigger tips for a booth of four instead of only two. She ignored us and refused to serve us. I complained to the manager, Denise. When Penny refused to apologize she came to our table, mouthed the words "F*** You" and gave us her middle finger.
