I've been here twice in a week. The lattes were delicious but costly (expected for the area). They have seasonal food and drink menus; right now they have Valentine's specials so I got the Chocolate Covered Strawberry latte and it was phenomenal. Ahh I really hate giving a low rating, but I honestly have no choice here. While it was our first time here, we tried a few different menu options and none of them hit. It feels a bit more style over substance in my opinion. Let's start with the positives first! The place itself is very stylish, and we loved the holiday decor! Honestly, just walking towards the building felt like you were being transported into a mini Christmas village. The menu is vast and looks enticing. The place has a great vibe, with a good amount of seating (indoor & outdoor). Definitely makes for a great meeting and study spot! Now onto food and drinks...the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Frappuccino was not good. It was so overrun with cinnamon, you could see the chunks throughout the drink. I love cinnamon, but that's all you tasted and not in a good way. We barely got through it. The serving was large considering the $8 price tag, but the quality was just not there. The pistachio latte was definitely a bit better, but not great. You could taste that bottled syrup flavor and it just wasn't done right. The pistachio croissant was decent. Definitely fresh, with a nice, soft texture, but the Pistachio frosting was super sweet! I think I probably would have preferred it plain. The place definitely has potential, so if they can up their drink game a bit, I'd be open to possibly giving it another go! read more

Always love making a visit at The Grind when I'm in the Monmouth County area! I absolutely love the modern ambiance and cute decor throughout this cafe! The staff are super friendly and welcoming, all around making this a memorable experience! We got the pumpkin waffles and they were the perfect autumn treat! The pecan and pumpkin flavor work so great together. As someone who loves pumpkin and cannolis, seeing this combo made me so ecstatic! I really like the items I got today: The grind smoothie and avocado toast. The presentation was beautiful as per ush. The smoothie was a bit over iced and lacked the flavor profile I'd expect from a $9.00 smoothie, but was still very good! The Avocado toast was good, despite the spread being an "avocado spread" vice fresh avocado... the seasoning was also heavily applied so was salty and needed to be scraped a bit. The overall rating is a 4 but I took presentation and service into account and would otherwise not pay the $11 for the toast or $9 for the smoothie. read more

Stopped in here on a weekday morning and it wasn't crowded at all. Comfortable and clean cafe which also has a nice outdoor seating area. The fall menu was great as I went for the pumpkin churro latte. Nice assortment of specialty drinks & lattes. The real draw for me was the baked items. Loved the selection and only wish I could have sampled more. Homemade pop tarts. Crazy donuts. Fresh croissants and pastries. This place is good for breakfast and lunch with a nice staff. I am well aware that reviews can break a business specially from yelp. I wanted this to be good or decent but there is very little effort put towards anything good related here. The grilled cheese certainly reminds you of that good grilled cheese at home but at that price you're two cent grilled cheese at home is a much better option. As for the chicken and waffles, the waffles were soft, and thin. Nothing like you'd expect to get from other places where they are thicker with a crunchier outer shell and "fresh". The chicken was dense. You normally expect the chicken to have chicken fibers when you break it apart or cut it . This was the complete opposite. It was dry and dense.I don't know what causes that for certain but most likely over cooked and frozen afterwards. I am not sure if they have a full kitchen. If so, this is low effort. I hope they can get some more experience and improve on their menu options, preparation and execution. read more

Very cute coffee cafe. You can sit down or have take out for coffee,breakfast, and lunch. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very nice and it is clean in here. Lots of fun specialty options. We came in on a saturday morning and it wasnt busy at all. The coffee was delicious, nice and smooth; very flavorful. My husband got the cinnamon toast crunch latte and i got the Ferrero Roche iced coffee. Both were great. We ordered bagel sandwiches as well, it took a little longer but we knew that means it would be fresh. Food was excellent. Definitely a place worth to come back too read more

Cute cafe in central NJ that has good food and decent coffee. The coffee drinks are not as great, but I'm a big fan of the caesar salad and white truffle fries here. But, I would opt to get the caesar salad without chicken since the strips were kind of awkwardly large. I do like that the portions of the fries have increased since the last time I was here. The hot chocolate is made in-house and is thick and not watery. The avocado toast was surprisingly good as well with a lemony taste. I would come back to try their other food! A new cafe in Monmouth! I was excited and had been wanting to come for awhile. We already had coffee at another local cafe so we just decided to get food. If you're eating in, you order at the counter and they'll bring you your food. I ordered a grilled cheese and my partner ordered the chicken and waffles. The food came out really quickly. The grilled cheese was okay--buttery and the cheese was well melted. But it was a bit soggy. And for $10, it should have been amazing or at least come with something on the side. The chicken and waffles were...just bad. The waffles were dry and crumbled as soon as your cut them. The chicken wasn't spicy at all, more sweet in fact, and had the texture of something that was premade and then reheated. Totaling close to $30 after tax and tip, this was really disappointing. read more

Came for coffee and matcha. Matcha was half syrup and tasted very unusual, kind of like milk. The latte had very little flavor but also a lot of syrup. The girl taking orders wasn't the nicest, and it was frustrating that every time we asked for the next item (we got 3 things) she said "is that all" in a condescending tone. 2 stars because the donuts were pretty good, but the coffee wasn't as good as I had hoped. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews and I get that food cost has driven prices up in some places but this spot was waaaaay overpriced and not worth the near $60 we spent. The French toast tasted stale, like they used old bread they were trying to get rid of, and it was awfully small for $15. Our Frappuccinos looked nice but were mostly crushed ice. The breakfast sandwiches were ok but I've had better for cheaper than $9 a pop. Perhaps we should've said something in the moment and maybe our expectations were high given the price but, after this experience and the sheer amount of breakfast spots in the area, it's hard to imagine us coming back. read more

This review is for the coffee and the ambiance. We came in in my husband's birthday because we both are coffee lovers and I was looking for something that wasn't mainstream or overrated. My husband ordered a hot cappuccino and could tell right away by the heaviness of the cup that it wasn't a simple espresso made with espresso and frothed milk. Judging by the watered-down taste, the espresso was either diluted with milk or coffee was used in place of espresso. I had a shot of "espresso" which was as more than likely simply coffee. Besides the coffee, the employees were kind and the ambiance was relaxing. Cute spot maybe for food, but not coffee unless you don't care how it comes out. read more

Their closing time is 5pm. At 4 a whole hour before close I attempted to order food and was told they closed part of the kitchen so they cannot do any "fried" foods which gets rid of half the menu at least. I work at a restaurant myself and we have our entire restaurant open until the minute we close or even after if someone comes in last minute. This was a whole hour before their closing time. It's ridiculous that they operate this way. If they need time to close then the people in charge should schedule their staff later instead of closing their kitchen an hour early. This is obviously not the fault of the staff but whoever is in charge of how the business operates. I have no idea if this is a privately owned business or if it is corporate run but either way this is incredibly disappointing. read more

I can't believe this place has any bad reviews! My family loves it here. It's located very close to Dorbrok Park making it the perfect stop on the weekend. The place is very cute with delicious lattes and breakfast/lunch dishes. We love the pistachio honey latte, rainbow cookie latte and potato and egg bowl. Outside they have an adorable pumpkin patch and photo set up for kids (or adults)! Looking forward to see what they do for Christmas. i went here today and got the iced pumpkin churro latte, pictured here. the ambiance is gorgeous and i appreciate the wide variety of menu options, however, i would not recommend spending your money here. i live close by and have visited about 4 times now, and every time i hope it will get better, but unfortunately, it never does. the baristas never have a smile on their faces. if you ask them a question they act like it's exhausting to answer you and i never feel welcome. the coffee is watery and presentation is clearly valued over taste. it is especially frustrating that in order to purchase a specialty latte, you are forced to get a large and do not have the choice of a small like with the regular coffee menu. the large is $8, and i just cannot justify spending $8 on watery, unmixed coffee. the food is okay, but from my experience, has been consistently stale or overcooked. everything here is extremely overpriced for the quality, and considering how many other coffee/brunch places are in the area, i wouldn't bother coming back here again. it's a shame because the owners are lovely people and the place is always clean and decorated nicely, but i hope they hire some warmer, nicer people and improve their coffee and food quality. read more

I used to love coming here and the food and coffee were always so good, however the staff every time I would come in- no matter which employees were working that day- were always so rude and dismissive. I've never had a problem with ignoring the dirty looks and passive aggressive attitudes but today was an awful experience overall. I went in with one of my friends to get breakfast and chat and while I was ordering I tried my best to be kind and respectful to the cashier, and even tipped. My friend then proceeded to try to order and the cashier completely cut her off and rang something in that sounded like what she ordered, so we didn't notice right away. After I would say 10 minutes of chatting, MY food and side dish were brought out along with the food the cashier rung in (which was close to what she ordered but was a side dish). We waited another 10 minutes because the girl who brought out our food told us the kitchen was still making one more thing and it would be right up, but she never came back. I then went back up to the counter to try and fix the mistake, and the girl at the register was so rude to me, told me there was a price difference of a DOLLAR and then proceeded to ask me if I even still wanted what we ordered... I'm very disappointed with the experiences i've had at this establishment because its quality food and coffee and not a very long drive for me, but I will not be returning here :( read more
