Minus one star for the prices. But ... this place has character. Walk back in time to a mom and pop shop that serves fresh, delicious food and sells kitchy stuff and gourmet spices and jams, and this is what you walk into. You almost feel like you are in the country even though you're 5 minutes away from McMansion suburbia. We got the everything bagel with pork roll/taylor ham (not getting involved in that debate!) egg and cheese, and coffee. Came out nice and hot, and was very enjoyable. This place is worth a look, even if you just buy one of their funny t-shirts.

I've been wanting to come here for awhile. I always had found memories of getting ice cream with my dad here in high school, which they no longer offer. We came for lunch and ordered a chicken cheesesteak and a California chicken sandwich. The chicken on both were so dry and unseasoned. The sandwiches as a whole had no flavor. I wouldn't come again.

Childhood spot used to come all the time and get a pork roll egg and cheese. With new ownership I love a gator (pork roll egg and cheese with a hash brown) Can't go wrong , sit it and enjoy

Great spot for a meal. And such a nice vibe. The staff was brilliant and the food was great. You order at the counter and go grab a table and they bring it to you. Also cool stuff to buy while your in there. I highly recommend going.

This is a cool little local place that quite frankly I didn't know was there. Good thing I found out about it from my cousin because they have some good stuff here. I would stick with breakfast since it was on point. The taylor ham egg and cheese was really good. The taylor ham was thick and there was plenty of it. This is a simple sandwich but you know when it is done right. I also ordered the meatball parm sub and it was also pretty good. It looks like they have a bunch of hot food items like sausage and peppers, meatball parm, etc. I'm pretty sure they make this fresh daily so come get it while you can. The portions are also massive so you won't leave hungry. They have a huge menu so they have every sandwich you can think of. This is a cool local spot that does it right. They also have some indoor seating and friendly staff. Definitely come check it out if you are in the area!

    Turkey?

Out of sub rolls by 2pm? Overall dry turkey sandwich on roll. Fox News on the tv. No thanks.

    Pork roll bagel

Such a yummy breakfast bagel!! Very cute, down to earth ambiance as well! Popped in for breakfast and were not disappointed!

GW probably drank here and slept here during Battle of Monmouth. Obviously that is awesome. The old wood construction and the visible cooktops cooking up your Gator and Cougar are also awesome. My issue is way much egg and cheese on a roll. I would like to believe that my blood will circulate when I leave your establishment. Please reduce cholesterol in the food otherwise the place is clean great servers and great food. Just please can we go a bit leaner? Also great country charm.

My wife had ordered the beef sandwich. We debated getting something off the kids menu for my son but he's only two and it was like $12 and we figured it would be worth just giving him some of what we ate and that actually sufficed. If your child's older probably would make sense, but for a little one, juice isn't worth the squeeze.. The food came out pretty quick, and it was really good. I really liked my Ruben. It was a closed face sandwich but they put a fair amount of meat on there which you can't complain about. The inside of the place was clean and what you would expect of a bar. The sit-down sitting area didn't seem too large but but large enough and we were there. We had the section to ourselves. The bar is actually pretty large and has amplementing in it. All in all, not a bad stop. If you're in the area it would be worth checking out.

He told us everything is made fresh and when he said the turkey and roast beef was made in house I had to try their Philly Cheese Steak sandwich which was made with their roast beef. Well, it was fabulous one of the better ones I've tried served with fresh cut fries and a pickle. John also mentioned the Tuna Melt was excellent so my wife gave it a try. Let's just say he didn't steer her wrong, she loved it. Got it with fresh cut sweet potato fries also very delicious. This place will definitely be a go to for us every time we're in the area.

It feels a bit more style over substance in my opinion. Let's start with the positives first! The place itself is very stylish, and we loved the holiday decor! Honestly, just walking towards the building felt like you were being transported into a mini Christmas village. The menu is vast and looks enticing. The place has a great vibe, with a good amount of seating (indoor & outdoor). Definitely makes for a great meeting and study spot! Now onto food and drinks...the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Frappuccino was not good. It was so overrun with cinnamon, you could see the chunks throughout the drink. I love cinnamon, but that's all you tasted and not in a good way. We barely got through it. The serving was large considering the $8 price tag, but the quality was just not there. The pistachio latte was definitely a bit better, but not great. You could taste that bottled syrup flavor and it just wasn't done right. The pistachio croissant was decent. Definitely fresh, with a nice, soft texture, but the Pistachio frosting was super sweet! I think I probably would have preferred it plain. The place definitely has potential, so if they can up their drink game a bit, I'd be open to possibly giving it another go!

They also provide plenty of images of the food they serve. I could easily understand the categories to order online, and the Bare Necessities option was a cute addition as it offered more minimal yet nutrient dense meals. Brand: 10/10 Pertaining to brand, I will say that Colts Neck Eatery exemplifies the township in a wholesome way while maintaining a simple green-white color scheme. You will find plenty of horse canvas paintings throughout the establishment, along with other farming symbols since the horse is an important symbol to Colts Neck Township. Indeed, the small town diner aesthetics proliferate in a welcoming manner. Ambiance: 9/10 Situated within an old-fashioned, cobblestone plaza, the Colts Neck Eatery uses location with utmost advantage. The ambiance has contained chaos during the noon rush. Just like the sign lettering with the rounded corners within a standardized font, the eatery effuses a come-as-you-are atmosphere. Nonetheless, it never got too noisy. Our booth had plenty of space, despite the slightly cramped establishment. Service: 10/10 The waitress managed to get our orders without trouble, and was amicable enough to start a conversation. A minor problem occurred with our orders which they immediately resolved. They also accommodated us with separate receipts for us to keep. Wait Time: 10/10 Despite an increasing number of patrons, we did not wait too long for our orders. Furthermore, no interruptions occurred while waiting. Taking the chance to expand upon my writing, I managed to do so while also planning ahead when I never thought I would. Food: 8/10 Despite the pricey food and beverages, I ordered the signature course--Pop's Breakfast. It consists of two eggs, two sausage links, two potato pancakes, two bacon strips, four buttered toasts, and a side of apple sauce, with water. They also included sour cream, grape jam, and strawberry jam. Clearly, I can see how this breakfast would satisfy anyone's Pop, for it filled me up throughout the day with the right amount of meats, potatoes, and bread. With the exception of the eggs, the rest of the meal was well-cooked. The potato pancakes had a warm, fluffy texture to it, and they cooled with every application of sour cream. The bacon had the right amount of crisp. I did not expect the apple sauce to have a heated crispiness to it, nonetheless I found the taste satisfying. Comes Together Well?: 10/10 Nothing seems out of place, for the aesthetics, the food, and the ambiance tie together well. Colts Neck Eatery lives up the the name of the township, as though the diner is itself the township encapsulated. Placed within the right spot with a welcoming shade, the establishment would bestow regret upon those who never entered earlier. Location always provides indirect advertisement via all the senses, while standard advertisement relies on simply the sight. The food, as well-accommodating as the establishment, can provide a filling experience. It would seem, from the paintings to the menu itself, the horse is a major symbol. As such, I express curiosity as to how the horse might be added to the logo should they ever change the sign. Rating: 5/5 Stars Given the choice approximating between four or five stars, I ultimately chose five stars. I hope that this establishment continues to last and represent Colts Neck Township. Recommend To... Any families looking for a place to eat and even celebrate while also buying local. The family-friendly atmosphere provides accommodation to everyone of all ages. I also recommend the Colts Neck Eatery to those who want to walk there on a stone plaza, for walking along the same concrete pathways repeatedly can be a disillusioning experience. If any eatery can sell an experience, Colts Neck Eatery would do so.

"Continental breakfast" was breads, bagels, a few cereals, Activia yogurt, bananas, coffee and tea, OJ. We were happy to have Cheerios, an unsweetened choice. There were a microwave, a mini fridge, and a TV in the room. The shower in the room was good. I found the bed and pillows mildly uncomfortable but it was just the one night and fine. Our room was right around the corner from the reception desk, and right across the hall from the laundry room, with windows open to the parking lot, but aside from 1 very loud conversation in the hallway right after we went to bed, it was quiet enough. Having never been there before, we had no idea what that meant so we followed everyone else. We had a reservation, so seating was not an issue. They weren't ready at 11am to serve. It took about 15 minutes for all of the options to be available and the kitchen struggled to keep pace as many options emptied quickly, the lines formed, and the refresh was slow. There was a cash bar service and juices available. This was a catered event, so the food was, well what I expected, but not bad with a fair amount of options. Our waitress did bring us water to our table and even filled the dirty glass and moved on. Empty plates sat on the table for a while, but we continued to return to the buffet. Everything was fair, until the check arrived. First, they charged us the child price for one of the under threes that ate one pancake. The waitress didn't ask if he was under three, just charged us despite under three being free. The real kick in the pants came from the automatic 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more, billed for four at the table. Yes, I know technically six, I get it. 20% on a buffet is insane. I served myself, I served my own drinks and stacked my own plates, by that definition I should have stayed to collect my tip-out after dining. I would have described our service as poor, unfriendly and unwelcoming. The 20% was not disclosed at the time of the reservation and I consider this a deceptive business tactic. It was Mother's Day so I would have chosen to leave more anyway, despite the bad service, but after the 20% gratuity was automatically added, there was an additional line for the tip. How many added a tip after already being charged? Quite a few I imagine. We will not be visiting this restaurant again and encourage them to be honest, upfront and train their staff appropriately. If the manager had visited out table, we would have spoken to them directly.
