Mambo Italiano is a phenomenal, authentic Italian sandwich shop that has recently opened in central NJ and I was absolutely amazed! They bring the taste of Sicily to Monmouth County - so good that you need to check it out for yourself. With imported cold cuts straight from Italy, and fresh Italian pastries from Brooklyn, I knew I was in for a treat! I tried the Al Pacino (#4) which features Genoa salami, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, arugula, tomatoes, and roasted garlic pesto. Each bite took me to an Italian paradise. All of the bread is made fresh in house, including the amazing focaccia that the sandwich was made with. Not only was it delicious but it was also huge and very filling! Anthony takes great pride in his food, his shop, and his heritage. It is evident in the nods to Sicilian culture throughout the restaurant, and the way he treats all his customers like family. He was kind enough to share a sample of the fresh mozzarella (which was UNREAL) with myself and some other customers while my sandwich was being prepared and that's when I knew I'd be well taken care of. My wife and I stopped into Mambo Italiano a few weeks back. It was after lunch on a Sunday. We were warmly greeted by the owner Anthony. As we waited for our order, we chatted with Anthony and learned that there are no shortcuts here. They do everything the authentic way by importing their cold cuts, using freshly baked bread, and offering a nice selection of desserts and coffee. Once we got home, we devoured the Gandolfini panino and cannoli. I can now say that that Mambo is not the real deal. We will definitely be back and can't recommend them enough read more

I come to Colts Neck every now and again to see our tax guy, and contemplated packing a lunch because of the limited options nearby. I was pleased to find this little shop and gave it a shot. Open just 2 months, the proprietor gave me a taste of Italy all in a sandwich. Prosciutto that melted like butter, balanced so nicely against the fresh mozz, arugula, Sundried tomato and fresh tomato but it was th focaccia and pesto that bookended the sandwich perfectly. These guys might not have enough stars to wonder if the sandwich and distance are worth the trip but I'd say a resounding YES. Hidden gem in Colts Neck, NJ! My family and I were on our way down the shore when we stopped for a quick bite. We stumbled upon Mambo Italiano and tried the Dean Martin sandwich as well as some rice balls. The food was so delicious. (I'd say it's comparable to the food I've eaten in Italy!) The service was also 10/10, the owner was a delight to talk to and made our experience even better. The restaurant is perfect for a bite to eat when you're craving real Italian cuisine. read more

Updated review alert! I happened to come back and try some more sandwiches since I was in the area. I went with the sorvino which had roast beef and mozzarella and the americani. They kind of skimp a little on ingredients but the sandwich is good. The interior looks like it was formerly a subway. Who cares it is a solid place. A little pricey for the sandwich but it is well made. The gentleman working there was very nice as well. Will come back. 4 stars all the way! read more

Stale bread was to say the least ... the roast beef cold cuts were rainbow color and inedible. Also 3 slices of roast beef for a $17 dollar sandwich, count how much meat is in your sandwich... I do not recommend this establishment at all, added are the photos of the grotesque meat in my sandwich ... zero stars from me, this place will not last in our community very long with this type of quality & service read more

We were in the area and looking for a place to eat. Not really familiar with the restaurants we looked on Yelp and saw the rating for Mambo Italiano and decided to give it a try. Entering in the place, you are greeted warmly by the owner. We asked him what was his popular sandwich and he said well they are all popular but you should pick what appeals to your taste. So we pick the Don Matteo and the Gandolfini. They were delicious! The bread was fresh and crunchy on the outside. The cherry tomatoes were very fresh and the pesto sauce was sooooo good! We haven't eaten our desserts we purchase. Saving those till we get home. We wish this place was closer to where we live but I think I can find reasons to drive 45mins to have another sandwich. read more

Such a cute new spot for authentic Italian sandwiches and pastries! Went here recently to check it out as it was a new location in my area and so glad I did!! The inside is well maintained and seems nice and clean. There is a small seating area and service was great! Super friendly, helpful, and hospitable! All of the sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients and their signatures are made with focaccia! I went here a few days ago and was looking to see how their Italian pastries were. It's not the easiest thing to find around this area as far as my family is concerned. I got a selection of different types., rainbow, lemon cookies , linzer., and the sandwich with sprinkles . all were so good and disappeared so fast ! I want to go back to try their sandwiches., the menu for them looked amazing but I was in a sweets mood . The best sandwiches and pastries!! I could eat here everyday if I could. The prices are so reasonable. The food is outstanding. The service is fantastic, all of the staff are so sweet. It's such a cute store. They even have espresso and cappuccinos. They offer so many different options. I was so full but I ate the whole thing because of how delicious it was. I also am not a fan of cannolis but they have a fantastic cannolis. Every time I come I'm getting more cannolis. Can't wait to come back and try more stuff!! read more
