I was just driving through Holmdel and saw IL Mercato. I thought I would give it a try and nothing is better than a fresh sandwich made in front of you. The people working then were nice and recommended the spicy grilled chicken sandwich. Possibly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I pass this great location on the way to treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering on Red Hill Road and decided that I had an appetite! Wonderful location with breakfast, lunch and sinner options. Ordered the advertised chicken cutlet sandwich- great bread, fresh chicken cutlet (got the crispy, grilled is available) peppers, mozzarella and balsamic glaze, a chicken empanadas and split pea and ham soup. Less than $20 and have five full meals! Will make this a definite part of our MSK trips. What a great shop!! read more

Took 20 minutes to make CHICKEN TENDERS. Not hard to make. The staff helped people who walked in after us and were very rude. When checking out one of the staff said "we want to make sure our chicken tenders are fresh." Fresh does not take 20 minutes. NEVER GOING BACK HERE read more

I stumbled upon this nice boutique Italian deli in Holmdel, NJ. There's a small parking lot with few seatings available inside. The cashier was very helpful and friendly. The deli has a wide assortment of hot and cold food. They also do catering. You'll have difficulties deciding what to try. Their sandwiches cost $13 if you order a half-hero size, but for $3 extra, you can get a full-size hero. I ended up getting 3 different rolls and a riceball. I personally prefer their Philly cheese steak roll over the chicken vodka and prosciutto. Their rice ball was so-so. Overall, this was a nice place to visit. I was taken here today for lunch and let...me...tell...you. SO GOOD!!! I was so surprised when I walked in. Cold cases held such a wonderful assortment of dishes aside from their menu where you could order other items. We decided to dine in and had such an enjoyable lunch. The place is immaculate and the food is tasty, fresh, and delicious. The staff is warm and welcoming. I will absolutely be back! A must try!!! I had the Eggplant Stacker. Not so happy with their catering. The turkey in the sandwiches tasted old and a little sour. However the mortadella in the Italian sub was a crowd pleaser. They have a few different "chicken finger/tender" options on their menu. Not sure I chose the right one.. they were ok. Also wish they came with some sort of dipping sauce. The cheesesteak was pretty good with the peppers and onions but looked a little weird served (imagine cheesesteak and cheese mixed together to be a light grey color). Brand new Italian deli... Stopped in the other day to pick up lunch. This is a stand alone deli with a pretty good amount of parking outside. We ordered 2 sandwiches,one hot & one cold. For her, the Sea Bright. That was with fried eggplant, mozzarella, roasted peppers and a balsamic glaze on a roll. I chose the CPV on a half hero. That's with a chicken cutlet, prosciutto di parma, vodka sauce and melted mozzarella. A generous portion on both ends. Sandwiches only cost about $13. Unless you get a whole size which is $16. Daily soup specials for another $5. We chose the pasta fagioli and chicken noodle. One can dine in, they have 4 tables in the front or just sit by the window. I'll stress that this is a pretty large space. Service was great. The lady that works there was very helpful when asking about catering for our Christmas party. We stumbled upon this wonderful little italian market and eatery last saturday, after exploring Bell Works. Incredible food! We sampled a number of small plates, broccoli rabe, mozzarella and tomato salad, caprese chicken and shrimp. Intending to just do take out, they had a sunny, window front set of tables, so we sat and ate there. They even unboxed our choices, heated up some of our selection for us and plated it up like a restaurant. Awesome find! We'll be back again. read more

It's Saturday 1:20pm. The place had one table with people already eating. Waited 30 min for a chicken wrap. I think it's a bit long. When I asked after 30 minutes, they said they were waiting for the fried chicken to be ready. I didn't even order fried chicken. First time visit here for my wife and I. Very nice Italian deli with an wide assortment to choose from. I opted for there Holmdel sandwich which was shaved roast beef on the rare side. Shredded lettuce, thinly sliced American cheese and tomato slices. Complimented with horseradish mayo. My taste buds thoroughly enjoyed it. My had a stuffed philly cheesesteak roll. Also very tasty. It was ok, I ordered a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheddar cheese and I received American cheese which is not really cheese and I don't care for it. Also asked for my bread to be buttered and it wasn't. In order to have repeat customers, you have to pay attention to the details of every order. read more

We love il Mercato been twice within two days lol. Only thing I noticed is the difference in the wraps, one day it was huge and chopped up it was amazing. Today it was smaller and less flavor. My fiancés hero bread was also different today then the other day. This will not stop us from coming here again, may just be depending on who's working! Service is amazing always! read more

Heard about this new deli online and my wife and I knew we had to give it a try. I got the CVP and she tried the caesar wrap. Both were awesome but the CVP was definitely a stand out, the chicken cutlets were seasoned great and the vodka sauce was awesome. Was only in the deli for a quick pickup, but the staff were very friendly and it was very clean and a nice looking interior. We are only about 10-15 mins away from here so we will for sure be back soon! read more
