We stopped in on Saturday afternoon after a softball game. My sub was delicious. We also had a cheese steak and wraps, all were outstanding. You get your moneys worth that's for sure. First time here. Excellent sub selection. I had the traditional Italian my gf had the meatball parm. Very friendly service. Very happy with experience and would definitely come back to try some other options. Didn't have an opportunity to try the pizza , but the slices at the counter looked good. read more

April 14, 2023. Ok, haven't been to Joyce's for years because I live out of the area. But today I swung by looking forward to their roast beef sub. I asked for a whole roast beef with extra lettuce and tomatoes. Well, ended up with hardly any meat and no extra lettuce or mayo. It's not the same as it used to be, and the price is around $17. Needless to say, it was really all bread I paid for. The newer owners should know better. read more

I come here often. Every single time I come in the past the subs have been good, My recent visit , I was dismayed because I believe the person who made the sub was new. He forgot to put lettuce and tomato on their special number one... He was cheap On the oil and vinegar... What I ended up with was a sub that was simple and dry. --- no lettuce or tomato and dry vinegar... I'll chalk it up to no experience... I hope the owner reads this and tells the new worker, always ask the customer "Any lettuce and tomato"... I still will come back to this place to recapture my prior experiences... Most of all it's a mom-and-pop business... And we got to support them in this awful world where present government policies favor the conglomerates and franchises - giving them all the breaks while mom and pop shop still struggle including the present administration read more

Awesome pork roll and cheese sandwiches! They also do subs and pizza but I've never had it. Very clean, and the kids who work in there are really nice and never get your phone orders wrong. Great location, they have a Dunkin Donuts right next to them! Overall great little sub shop since there isn't many around. read more

This used to be our almost-daily joint many years ago when the food was good and the price was cheap. Now the food is still good (but not as good as before), but the price more than doubled, putting it in the same price range as other decent delis, hence we stopped going. I have been going here since the mid 80s. I took my kids here for lunch and it is still a great spot. The shredded lettuce on the subs is finely cut and makes each sub better than the next. read more

I was in town from chicago and my boyfriend took me here for a italian sub.... and all i can say is omg! Its the best sub i have ever tasted on this planet! I can't put my finger on it but... there is definatly something special about it! Then the next day.... we went back again and i tried the meatball parm and it was amazing! I wish i could take this store back to chicago with me! Its located in a strip mall off of exit 109! Worth the detour off the highway! You know ,it would be easy to find fault with a place that has literally been around forever and basically serves pizza and subs. In fact that is why I have to judge them on the merits and give it 3 stars. For what they do Joyce's is more than serviceable. I will not opine on their pizza as I would never eat pizza in a place like this.However their subs and especially their egg sandwiches are honest and satisfying.I usually get scrambled with melted mozzarella on a hoagie and I leave feeling happy. Every neighborhood needs a joint and Joyce's fits the bill,try it you will like it. read more

Pizza is tasty, and the people in the shop very friendly. We didn't really like the crust, though. The part of the slice you hold was thin and crispy, and difficult to eat. I really liked the spices on the crust, which didn't seem typical. read more

Last weekend I hosted a lunch for about 30 people in town for our 40th high school reunion (MTHS '74) and I ordered sub platters from Joyce's (plus potato and macaroni salad). They did a FANTASTIC job, generous platters (plus good advice about what the assortment should be) and delicious salads and great quantities of dressings and pickles and oil and vinegar for a total price so inexpensive it was almost embarrassing. I highly recommend their party platters. We were bathed in delicious nostalgia (and there was so much left over...). If I still lived in town I'd have parties all the time and get platters from here. read more

When I was a kid I used to ride my bike to Elsie's in Red Bank back when the Beatles "Hard Day's Night" was playing at the Carrolton theater in Red Bank (Now Count Basie Theater) subs were that good. Elsie and Joyce of Joyce's were sisters. I bought a house in Lincroft and started getting Subs at Joyces. Joyce sold to a guy called Ernie and Elsie sold the business as well. Both exceptional sub shops. Best I have ever had anywhere. When Ernie ran Joyce's in Lincroft there was always a line at lunch and his prices were very reasonable. Ernie sold out to two partners a couple of years ago and the Subs were still fantastic but the prices went from reasonable to not so reasonable and people stopped going out of their way for the subs and the line's dropped dramatically. Prices had to go up because food prices were going up. Is the sub worth the money today? absolutely. My brother in law who now lives in Chicago used to take back a half dozen or so when he visted to take back with him when he visited. I'm In FL now. Nothing here comes close to Joyce's. Which sub shop is better? I visited Elsie's a couple of years back and was disappointed. Joyce's packed more meat and was better. read more
