As I was waiting a worker asked me to close one of the refrigerator's door that someone else had left opened. Wtf. I politely did it just because I was there next to both of the refrigerators and was planning on getting a drink too. Food is mediocre. Chilli was just normal but kind of too acid for my taste. I eat here every Sunday with my boyfriend, whose been a regular for as long as they've been in business. I've had almost everything on the menu and it's all delicious. Their subs are also packed with plenty of meat and cheese. I love their chicken tenders and fries. The hotdog is great with chili and cheese on it!! Their chicken sandwiches are awesome also. My family has been a customer at Strokers Deli for years. They just had their 25th anniversary. If my mom couldn't make lunch one day it was coming from Strokers. The Italian sub is a go to and their pork roll egg and cheese can't be beat. Friendly, kind hearted staff who make amazing food. I just had a scrambled egg ,sausage and cheese on a roll. Today 12/7/20 I was just ok . It had 1 sausage patty . But Not $7.50 worth. They are very expensive, I thought for that price It was going to be something. It wasn't .everything is expensive there. Good sandwich but no one that works there is very nice... The sandwiches are good and the meat is cut very thin which is important. My problem here is 2 fold. First I asked for my sandwich hot, and it was cold. I don't think they really listen to you. The second is First I asked for my sandwich heart, and it was cold. I don't think they really listen to you. The second is that that nobody that works there is very nice. They simply treat you like they are doing you a favor and that is not where I prefer to spend my money. If you don't care then the place is probably good enough. I have been one time and I likely will not go back. Somehow you are also charged three and three-quarter percent service charge. Not sure how that works but who really needs that for an average deli. In a world where no one talks to anyone, if I go in a store I certainly expect that if I am spending money there people will not treat me like a paycheck. read more

Be prepared to order directly from the menu or have your order screwed up. I didn't think it was difficult to make a sandwich with only 2 toppings, but they've managed to mess that up four times in a row. I took a few months off from going there since they couldn't get my order right, but I thought I'd give them another chance since the food really is great. Boy was I wrong! Strokers is a small deli located in a strip mall. From the decor inside, it looks like it has some great history and some talented people that have come through there and ordered at the counter. Their food is a hit or miss at certain times of the day and the staff is very friendly, except for one, and if you don't pay attention, their prices change on a daily basis. It's not much; sometimes by $.25 to $1.00. I used to come in there on a daily basis, but after the way my food came out, coupled with the price changes, and after I asked about the advertised price being displayed, I was given a price off the top of her head. So for details... Now their food is good. From their Strokers chicken sandwich down to their cold subs. Ingredients are fresh and everything is done in front of you which I like. The thing I don't like is when you are asked "What do you want on your sandwich?" You tell him and when it comes time for you to eat, basically he put whatever the hell he wanted on it. Im not talking about adding banana peppers or anything, but the standards on the sandwich are Lettuce, tomato, O&V or Mayo... if you change something or omit something, it gets added anyways. Now, it's not a big deal and not a deal breaker, just annoying. Now it seems they do their best job BEFORE or AFTER the lunch rush. I found if you go during lunch, expect a mistake. But again, understandable and really isn't a huge deal. What is a big deal is price and who you get that rings you up at the register. If you get the younger woman (20's), the other woman (40's) or the young gentleman (30's), your bill will be accurately totaled. If you get the older woman (70's), the total amount always changes. Now for a week, I got the same thing... 2 out of the 5 days my total was the same from the first 3 I mentioned... When I get the older woman... there was a price fluctuation between $.10 and one time was $1.20. The last straw was when I bought an item that was clearly labeled with the price. When it came time to pay, I already knew how much it would cost with tax... When the older woman rang it up, it was $.50 more. So i asked, "It says it is $4.50 for a large, but you rang it up at $5." She just looks at me with a scowl on her face, "That's the old price, this is the new price." So I just said "Ok, but if the price changed, you should really change it on the board." Again, looks at me and says, "Do you wan't it or no?" I just sighed, gave her my money and walked out. From there, that was the last time I would step foot. It is a real shame, I have no problem with the food being a miss every once in a while, nor do I have a problem with the tiny price fluctuations, what I do have a problem with is if you look at me like I am an idiot as in I should have known about the price changes and why I am balking at $.50 price changes and don't even apologize and say, "Oh, I'll give you that price and I'll change that right away." Then I will take my money elsewhere. I have been going there for the past year, but a few months ago was the last straw. I added up my reciepts for an average week... I normally buy lunch for the people in my office at a tune of $40/day. Some times more, some times less... That's $200/week. Which may not seem a lot to a successful deli, but $200 is $200. I now drive out to Eatontown to get my my office lunch or further down Shrewsbury. read more
