It was crispy but a bit bland and could use some herbs or salt. Codfish sandwich- I was disappointed with this sandwich. I was expecting a codfish filet sandwich and instead I got 2 codfish sticks in a bun. Macaroni salad- Hubs liked it a lot and it made him want to find a recipe on how to make it. I came here again not realizing I have been here years prior, always a great fried chicken spot. The gentlemen working the counter was super nice. I ordered some wings, a chicken thigh, and fries. The wings were hearty, the chicken thigh was perfectly breaded, but for some reason the fries were really the perfect addition to this and were a great addition to a great meal. We have been regulars of Chicken Kitchen for years. We order a lot. Food is always good, deliver is usually reliable and when it's been slow we have never taken "issue" bc it's always been within reason, and the ladies who deliver are lovely... and stuff happens, we get it. However, tonight @ 5:20 I called on my way home from work to place an order bc we had plans to go to a Christmas event that we needed to leave for by 6:50. I asked how long delivery would take, trying to gauge if it would be quicker to pick up. I was told 45-60 min. Placed an order of 3 items for delivery. When I called at 7:12 to find out what was going on, I was put on the phone with the manager. I explained that we had tickets to take our now very hangry 7 y/o to a holiday event and needed to know when the food would arrive bc we were already going to be late. He told me "Your order went out. You know the ladies who deliver for me. Its 4 days before Christmas and there's traffic". That's it. No, 'sorry for the inconvenience', 'here's $10 off your next order', 'do you want a refund?'. Just basically, you're SOL, lady. Such abhorrent customer service! Our food arrived at 7:28. I called and the owner (Matt) picked up the phone and I, with please and thank you, asked that question and the price of 3 other items. There are approximately 12 tables but it appears to me that most of the business is take out. I sat down and enjoyed my wings. And the phone must have rung 20 times. Loved the fries and onion rings, wife's chicken tenders were good. Kiddo loved the mac and cheese. Biggest let down after loving basically everything was the damn fried chicken. The batter was almost flavorless and a weird texture. The good news is it was perfectly cooked, but it just wasn't good enough to want to get it again. Fried Chicken: Awesome and SUPER hot, super fresh. The seasoning was just what it needed, just salty enough, so delicious, and nice thin crispy skin. So delicious. Just ate it today cold for lunch and it's just as good. Mashed Potatoes: Really tasty, classic mashed potatoes with gravy. Classic, awesome, nostalgic. Salad: Ok here's where they really surprised me- their garden salad was crisp and bright green; really fresh and just chopped; I was really impressed how fresh and yummy this salad was! Ordering and service: Ordering over the phone was easy and the woman who picked up was very helpful with how much food we should get. The chicken was tender on the inside, and perfectly crisp on the outside. It came with fries, a dinner role, and some slaw...all of which were great. The portions are surprising really big! Ordered tenders and fries, with a ranch. Tasted frozen, seemed like something you may get at a bowling alley. I don't know if it is, but the breading was odd. The ranch was an upcharge of $0.75 . The upsides were that it was not too expensive and the staff was appropriately friendly. Note, however, as of yesterday, they have a menu tapped to their window that is outdated with lower prices than they charge. So those prices are not actually real.
