Princess Margherita

My fiancée wanted to try Zoni's because they offered a gluten-free crust. We came here with some friends and ordered the fried calamari, large buffalo wings, fried mozzarella triangles, vongole, the BQE and 2 Princess Margheritas (reg and gluten-free). Our waitress was very nice and very communicative. The space was nice as well. Overall, everything we ordered was very good. The only critiques I have are there was a longer than expected wait time between the apps and pies and the buffalo wings were a bit spicier than I expected. I had just ordered the vodka sauce pie from Prince Street Pizza in NYC and really enjoyed it, so decided to try theirs. Delicious. I could definitely taste more of the vodka sauce in Zoni's version. Our party definitely enjoyed ourselves here and I'm glad I got to try the food here. I was not disappointed and left a happy customer.

Today's lunch was across the River in New Jersey. This area of New Jersey is full of B class gourmet that is more tasty as every day meal than A class gourmet food. Out of tons of choice, I chose Zonis Coal Fired Pizza in Red Bank. I always order Large pie though I know I can't finish it. I love leftovers for snacks days after. Dough could bake a little more to be crispier but charred edges are just perfect as like this. Because of coal fire charred smells great. I had half mushrooms pie today and this was a perfect pie today. No beer or wine so BYOB here.

Margarita and Camilla pizzas

Stopped in on a whim on a Thursday evening, while visiting from Maryland. We didn't have a reservation, but owner Rob greeted us warmly, and quickly found a spot for our party of 3. It's BYOB, so we ran over to the liquor store a couple of doors down for a bottle of Prosecco. We had a Margarita and Camilla personal pizza, and Cesar salad; also had the Calamari appy. The food was terrific; fresh quality ingredients, perfectly prepared. I would be remiss if I didn't mention our server, Sabrina; she was friendly and very attentive (and it was busy!). If you're looking for a great meal in Red Bank, you should definitely try Zoni's!

Unfortunately, the food and service didn't live up to the atmosphere. Things started off rocky when our kid's meal came out first, only for the staff to realize they had completely forgotten about the rest of our order. When our food finally arrived, it felt rushed--and it showed. The garlic knots seemed reheated, undercooked in the middle, overloaded with basil, and lacking that punch of garlic and parm they needed. The pizza had potential: the cheese was quality, the dough was nice and thin, but both were underbaked. No crisp, , no texture, no finish--just doughy. The sauce was fine, but leaned too sweet for my taste. What made it more frustrating was the lack of attention. The restaurant wasn't even busy... just one other table and a few takeout orders - yet service still felt scattered, and the food came out like an afterthought. Would I give them another shot? Honestly, yes. Those square pizzas in the window still have my curiosity, and I'd like to see this place step up its game. For now though, it's more of a "great vibes, disappointing execution" kind of spot.

The meatballs was very tender , well balanced with the tomato sauce that's not too acidic. The sauce was not heavy at all and I love the fresh basil. The chicken parm , which I don't normally order was recommended by the server and did not disappoint. It was tender, moist chicken cutlet with crispy, flavorful breading, balanced by a vibrant, not too salty or acidic marinara sauce and, melted mozzarella, served with rigatoni. Wine list - Huge huge Italian wine list with smaller names and unfamiliar names. Did my research and got a bottle of rosso montalcino ($69) which was excellent to pair 2. Meatballs - tender, doesn't fully fall apart but light and almost melts in your mouth. Sauce is light but full of flavor 3. Eggplant parm - not spicy even though supposed to be spicy rigatoni with it. Huge portion. Took half home. Pasta was delicious with enough sauce and al denté as I like 4. Tiramisu - one of the better ones I've had. Not alcoholic. Moist and excellent balance of layers. Shaved chocolate on top is a nice touch 5. Chocolate torte - deliciously creamy and lighter than I thought. Full chocolate flavor. Comes with a fior di latte gelato which was high quality. Overall an excellent high quality Italian dinner. No wonder why it's hard to get weekend reservations. Highly recommended and will definitely be back when in Red Bank and craving Italian.

The Red Bank location is decorated nicely, very intimate and is a BYOB. The menu is the same. Katelyn provided outstanding service. The food is very good. Red Sauce Italian and they do it well. The baked clams are my favorite. The eggplant rollatini is very good. The Spedini was less successful as they prepared it like Mozzarella en Carozza with the Anchovy caper sauce. The dish should be prepared as a loaf as opposed to a sandwich style. I will definitely add Via Sposito into my Italian rotation as the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent and the food is good. I will try their pizza next. Parking on the street in the off season is easy, during the summer parking can be very difficult. There is a garage within a 5 minute walk.

This is clearly not the restaurant's fault but wow was it loud. I wish we could have sat outside but it was a bit chilly. My husband got the meatballs for his appetizer and I got the Caprese salad. He loved the appetizer and I loved mine. You cannot go wrong with Caprese salad in my opinion. For our entrees, he got the 'Bistecca alla Pizzaiola" which was a steak with tomato, garlic and red wine with potatoes. It was really good. The steak was very tender. I got the 'Ravioli Limoncello' which was Ravioli in a Lemon cream sauce. I am not a huge lemon fan but this was great. We ended with the 'Carrot Cake' and the 'Toasted Almond' cake - both were delicious as well. Everything was great. The service was quick, attentive and very friendly. The woman who took our order, who may have been some type of manager and who was not the waitress, was upbeat and friendly. Why the three stars? The hostess was not friendly. She was a short, stout woman, olive complexion with long black straight hair. She seemed to either be having a bad day or a bad life. We smiled and said hello when we entered and she looked disinterested and reciprocated with a scowl. After being seated, we waited about 10-12 minutes before anyone came to our table. The waitress took someone else's order, but never came back to take our order. Whoever took our drink order, said that she would take our order until our waitress appeared. We never got to meet our waitress. She ended up also taking our meal order. We ordered the meatballs to start with. The meatballs were eh. They were 3 large meatballs and had a nice presentation, but just warm, not hot and not the best I've had. I tasted too much breadcrumbs/filler. The cheese and sauce had good flavor. The Don Gregorio Pizza Pie was really good and for that, I may return and give this place another chance.
