Brennans used to be amazing, probably one of my favorite places. However over the last year or so everything seems to have gone downhill. Portions are much smaller with very high prices. Overall it's becoming less of a hit and more of a hassle Especially if you need to change or alter the order in anyway. read more

I'm a local and I haven't been to the deli in some time, and I don't know why. It is located in the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, not far from me. As a Yelper, I'm always pondering what venues I haven't frequented or better yet reviewed.... so here we are. Lunch is a good time of day to enjoy a sandwich and a salad. Both of these, by the way, were excellent. When you go up to the counter they take your order and your name. There's at least eight people behind the counter, hustling with the Brennan logo on their tees. When your order is ready they call out your name and you either pay the bill and leave or sit down at the table and pay when you're done. The place is really clean and the staff is quite friendly. My husband called and placed an order. When I picked it up the young woman tried to convince me that the order she had prepared was mine when... 1. The name and number on it was clearly not ours. 2. What we ordered was 1/3 of what this order was. She made me feel like somehow it was my fault that they didn't have our correct order. As I tried to place the order again with her she stopped taking my order and handed me off to someone else. The food was decent, I would say this is average in terms of delis. I had a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce, it was tasty but could have used a bit more flavor. I ordered a side of egg salad to taste it, it wasn't my style, a bit too heavy on the runny mayo but it wasn't bad. I think the experience would have been better if there was a table or two open for indoor dining. I ended up eating in my car outside. read more

I had the #3 (roast beef, horseradish cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo) and #6 (black forest ham, brie, honey mustard) sandwiches. Both were under $8. The roast beef sandwich had really tender meat. The sandwich overall was a little on the bland side and could have benefited from some more salt or dressing. The black forest ham sandwich was good but could have benefited from having vegetables. I liked that they had a ton of sandwich options with very different ingredient options. They have a private parking lot with plenty of parking. Workers were friendly. They have a separate breakfast menu. I came on a Sunday and it was pretty crowded. Service is quick. It wasn't the best sandwiches I've ever had but their meat quality was really great and I think you can customize any sandwich to your liking. read more

Our office orders from them often. The sandwiches are awesome. However 10 out of the 10 times I've had a sandwich from them, the toppings are always screwed up. I mean, everytime I get a sandwich it's wrong. I literally say mayo only, no lettuce, nothing. Can't say enough great things about this deli! I have been here twice and both times have been fantastic. First time I had a Turkey sub that was simply incredible. There is a huge difference between the real turkey breast used at Brennan's and the turkey "ball" used at many other places. The second time I had a Mahi sandwich that was also incredible. The bread options are plentiful but I prefer the 7-grain roll. It has a hard exterior for far better handling of messy subs yet is still soft on the inside. Brennan's is one of my two favorite delis in the Eatontown/Tinton/Red bank area. It is hard to choose between Brennan's and the Monmouth Clubhouse. I tend to go to Brennan's when I am with a larger crowd as they have more seating. The food is very fresh and plentiful. I typically "make my own" sandwich. The service is fast and food is great. Another nice thing is that they make fresh sides and soups daily. The daily special is also usual very good. It's a win, win! But when it comes to the important part, the food, it falls short. Ordering what we've ordered many times at Rumson, the Pork Roll Egg and Cheese, I'd assume we would have a similar experience. But that was not true. The sandwich tasted like just eating mostly bread. It seemed like less than an egg, as if only 1/2 an egg was used per sandwich. And o my 1 piece of Pork Roll. A proper jersey shore PREC should have a nice amount of egg and. 4-5 meat slices. That's what we pay for. And that's what Rumson makes. And we aren't special and get some texts treatment. That's how it's made. This app as sub. Like I said. The Roll overpowered any sense of eating a Porn Roll Egg and Cheese. Would not recommend at least on the basis of the quality for portion size of food. This is not a French restaurant that serves tiny art pieces on a plate. read more

Having worked in the nearby area for the last few years, I've had the pleasure of eating many a corporate catered lunch from here, and ended up buying my own quite often as well. The food was always fresh, the sandwiches big and delicious, and the salads downright tasty. In fact, (thanks in part to my last company, who catered from here constantly), Brennan's is party to thank for my loss of nearly 45 pounds, thanks to their tasty salads. Two things come to mind that are "must try's" for this place. One is the Oriental salad, which has a pretty nice asian styled dressing on it, as well as a good amount of nut clusters and orange fruit slices. The other is my personal favorite sandwich, the #14: Roast beef with cheddar cheese, bacon, tomato, and russian dressing. I usually get it on pumpernickel bread. Sandwiches are made to order, and they'll put it on whatever style bread you like, or a roll. Lots of meat inside the suckers, too. The only downside is that they're a tad pricey. Salads are in the $8 range, sandwiches are around the same, with most starting at $7.75. I had no qualms ordering from here on a weekly basis when my company was footing the bill, but with a drink your lunch can easily go over $10 - not TOO over the top, but something I can't really see myself paying on a regular basis. There's a bunch of sandwich shops in the area that will give you more food for a bunch less money - they just aren't as "gourmet" tasting as Brennan's. Worth a visit for lunch, just not all the time or you'll end up with a light wallet. read more
