Ok , so here we go! If you want a bed and breakfast look and feel with a 5 star hotel type hospitality this is it! So walking in you are met with Victorian style decor that is stunning in its own right. The owner met us at the door , giving us a run down of the amenities and the local sights and food. Breakfast was included and they don't hold back , we had eggs on a cloud the first morning which is an interesting play on eggs Benedict. We went to our room and saw a similar style the bathroom was huge , staying on there with the Victorian beach home theme. Tips: 1. I wouldn't recommend coming with children 2. This place is made for R+R it's calming and refreshing not really a party central. 3. Tons to do in the area read up before going or you will feel overwhelmed! She gives you a guide when you walk in but , the town is catered to going out so you have tons to choose from. 4. Extra pillows are in the closet. 5. You are super close to the beach! Havent seen anyone post a review of this place in a while so I'll gladly leave one here. This place was great! My wife and I booked an over night stay since we really needed a break from family and change of scenery using the couples package which included massages for both of us, wine, chocolate covered strawberries and complimentary breakfast. Esther gave us a very warm welcome and was very helpful right off the bat letting us know what there was to do in the area and even suggested a few areas to dine, hang out. Shes very professional and accommodating so im not sure why the negativity here. Seems to me as long as you follow the rules of the place and if you actually have manners you'll be fine. The massages were amazing, so much so I almost fell asleep haha, i was very relaxed after ward. This place is very quiet, so much so you can hear the smallest thing. I didnt mind it but I can understand how it might be strange to some. The breakfast was really good, made from scratch the morning of. Good amount of choices and variety. I got the banana nut stuffed french toast. The eggs were surprisingly good, literally melt in your mouth. My only complaints that stop me from giving it a 5 star is that it was a little cold at night and I could find a way to turn the heat up. Also there was construction being done beside the house which I know isnt the owners fault but it still affected the noise level a little. I let my spouse look for a place to stay since I could not find anything that did not have a 2-night minimum, and oh my, does he have good taste in lodging to find Cedars & Beeches. :-) This is one of the few places in the area that does not have that requirement, thank you! So it was perfect for our overnight beach getaway at the end of summer. Located in a nice West End burb near the beach, this 1890 house was actually a guest house for a larger mansion. We got a Queen room, the lowest category, and it had tons of room, a small hallway, and a giant walk-in closet. This is the one (Room B) right off the living room with the big blue sectional sofa. Guests there for a wedding politely used this common area to relax in the evening, which did not bother us at all. There is a fridge to stow your wine and leftovers. Very clean and beautiful, free easy wifi, and plenty of space to hang out and relax. Breakfast is ample, and you order from a menu and eat on the porch. Since we are both vegan, we did not need eggs or pancakes or meat of course and just got tea, coffee, fruit, and hash browns, all brought out very quickly. The minced way the hash browns were made was wonderful, and I was tempted to ask for a second helping. I did not do this only because I knew we would be heading to a decadent brunch at Good Karma in Red Bank. Esther's employees are incredibly friendly and sweet too. I asked if Bruce Springsteen ever stayed here, but of course he has plenty of room at his home in Colt's Neck. He was born in Long Branch though and wrote some of his most famous songs very close to this B&B, on West End Court. Dorothy Parker's birthplace (noted with a plaque) is also very close by. Esther knows a lot of good history and lore of the area and is involved in community leadership. She also has a gorgeous rescued vischla we saw being walked, but of course the dog was not in the B&B, too bad for me. She would have been welcome in the bed, haha. Esther and the dog live in the former stable behind the house. The porch is a nice place to hang out in the evening, and we took walks around the neighborhood too. Very lush greenery surrounds C & B, so you can imagine that you are far out in the woods, while still having total convenience. I wish we could have checked in earlier, but traffic is of course terrible on the way to the beach at this time of year. It will be fun to come back here later in the fall. The owner, Esther, walked into a guest room where my mother in law had been showering and found her naked where Esther then proceeded to make her stand there nude and change in front of her with the room door wide open as maids and others were walking by, all because there was miscommunication between our party and Esther about which room we were allowed a late check out in. Esther did NOT tell our party what room we would have the extension in for the morning as there were 6 of us listening at check in, myself included, and that was not a piece of information that she relayed- even though she claims it was. And yes, the woman in our party may have said we stayed in 6 because it was bigger, but this was because she had no idea how to respond to you aggressively trying to move us around and lingering over us at every move - it was extremely uncomfortable to be around you - and this is clear as room 5 and room 6 are the exact same size, she just was in shock by how you were treating our party. My mother in law was the one you told the room to, and clearly there was just a miscommunication. And for reference, room 5 and room 6 are the same size with the same bed size, so if you had a party that really needed to check in (which you did not as there was not a single person waiting in that hotel except for us) then you could have given them room 5 where we had vacated. Esther completely disrespected us and had absolutely no hospitality skills. Will never ever stay here again and would not recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area. And to her point that we are never welcome back, how unfortunate it is that you tell a well paying and respectable party that left each room in great shape, but solely misunderstood your communication. And to her point, we may have lost one key, but we planned on going to search for it, until you basically assaulted my mother in law and then told us we were never welcome back, so then we did exactly what you said and never came back, not even to give you the key. You address the shower situation in one sentence as if that is not harassment, but you are lucky we do not call the police. What kind of weirdo watches a 60 year old women naked and forces her to change with the door wide open as maids and others walk by???? It is also unfortunate that when you get a bad review too, you feel the need to justify every single poor action on your part, while also reaming out the customer for every little thing they did. If you ask me, you do not belong hosting any type of hotel. From the start of the trip you had a horrible attitude from arguing with fun facts that one of our party members tried to share with you when we arrived to handing us bags of cheerios with three bananas and 3 oranges and some yogurt calling that our "to go breakfast" that we had requested as our family would be in an event the next morning. But before I go on please look at similar reviews how instead of saying I'm sorry for my horrible actions this women loves to defend herself and attempts to justify her actions. 2 things. 1. The truth is we were was so pumped up for an incredible #laborday #weekend at the #cedarsandbeechesbedandbreakfast in #longbranch #newjersey with my girlfriend and my little 12 and 10 year old. After a long 4 hour commute and totally exhausted we finally made it to the #hotel. My kids were so excited when we pulled up to the place. My boy was the first to go up to the door to let the staff know we have arrived. After ringing the door bell this women in the video finally answers the door and I swear the way should looked at my children was like the child catcher from #chittychittybangbang. "Yes". "What do you want". I looked and starred in horror and I said reservations for the Michaelson's. Now I will take one on the chin and admit that when I booked this vacation room, accidentally I didn't respond that two adults and two children were coming. It was an automatic default to just two adults. But the response I received from this women was like holy shit!!!!!! #OMG I have been traveling for 30 years and have never been treated so poorly by another human being. This was one of the #nastiest Women I haven't ever met. Instead of having #compassion for the mix up she immediately verbally assaulted me in front of my kids and had the #audacity to suggest that two people can stay in the room and she couldn't care where the other two people should go. She was so awesome for the camera I wish I didn't stop filming. The entire scene would have been a mind blower. #thankgod we left because Everything truly happens for a reason. I suggest if you ever pass buy this cottage on your way to the beach just keep going. This was a modern day witch that seems to dislike children very much. A simple scheduling mistake turned into a full on assault by this women. Just want to give a #shoutout to #oceanplaceresortandspa. They were so #sympathetic to our story they did a price match on a $1,000 room and totally took care of us. I highly recommend if you ever come to Long-branch this is the place to stay. On the ocean. We spent two nights here during the peak season. We arrived on a Thursday and departed on Saturday. The place is something between a bed & breakfast and a small Inn. It is a huge Victorian style mansion with very well kept front garden and an awesome front porch where they serve breakfast. As Audra M. pointed out in her review, breakfast during the week is continental but on weekends you get a full breakfast (the room rate is highher on weekends). The weekend breakfast was excellent with several entree choices, fresh fruit, yogurt and homemade muffins, eggs, pancakes, and French toast. The service staff here is very friendly and accommodating and the b&b is both spacious andimmaculate. They keep the temperature in the summer very cool which I loved but my girlfriend did not. Also while we loved our room on the third floor, the wifi signal just barely made it up so our iPads ran slowly. So being located just a few minutes from the beaches, Cedars & Beeches is a good choice for a weekend get away only a little over an hour from Brooklyn! read more

I found this B&B whilst perusing online for lodging near Red Bank, though it is a 21 minute cab ride to the location in which I have to be for training I decided to pick Cedars & Beeches because it was a beautiful location. It is about a 50 min cab ride from the Newark airport and a 73 min. ride on the NJ transit (train). The host/owner was incredibly accommodating in the fact that my arrival would be late. I also greatly appreciate the fact that she put me in a first floor room based on the amount of days I would be staying here which was nice because I have luggage and it would be a pain to lug up my massive suitcase up that staircase. I also needed to ship items for work here so that I would not have to do so at the airport and she was nice enough to let me do so as well as place he items in my room. I am here on business and how I would love to spend more time here leisurely and enjoy the beautiful porch and gardens. This place is beautiful. Ideal for a romantic getaway or a wedding. I feel like I am in the woods in an amazing Victorian. The complimentary contiental breakfast is nice LOVE THE COFFEE! read more

Was a last minute decision to go away for the night for our anniversary, found this place online. It is a beautiful B&B, spotless, friendly service, very warm comfortable atmosphere. My husband planned a stay here for our 1 year anniversary/my 30th birthday. Neither of us had ever stayed at a B&B before so we really didn't know what to expect. We did the romance package that included a bottle of wine and a couples massage. Esther, the owner was really helpful with the planning process and super sweet too. The house and our room were absolutely beautiful. Our massages in the room were wonderful and relaxing. Breakfast in the morning on the porch was just perfect. Let me preface this by saying that I do not usually write Yelp reviews--I am solely a consumer of them and never actually feel strongly enough to write the kind of review I chose to write below. I'm a long-time daytripper to Long Branch--I've only ever stayed at Ocean Place prior to this experience. This was actually my first experience at a B&B, and I have to say, I won't be doing it again. It was my friend's birthday, and she booked this B&B because it was reasonable and there were few other options. We arrived around 9PM to find our key taped to the front door, with a code to get in (not a great comfort security-wise), and the entire place was dead silent when we walked in--you could hear a pin drop. As I said previously, I've never experienced a B&B before, so perhaps it was just my personal experience but I found it to be a little strange. In the owner's defense, my friend didn't read the fine print and was unaware that we were only allowed to have two people in the room she booked (there were two queen beds in the room, and plenty of space for more than two people in the room). My issue was not with her policies, but rather with the way she handled the situation. When we came down for breakfast in the morning, the owner realized there were three extra people in the room my friend had booked, and she pulled my friend aside in an embarrassing, public scene and argued with her in the next room over, all the while every other guest in the dining area could hear the entire conversation as they ate breakfast. I have never ever seen any hotel personnel act this way in my life. It was completely unprofessional, and made things extremely uncomfortable for all parties involved. She told us we would have to pay for the 3 extra people, which was fine, but then insisted we would have to get a second (larger) room for those extra three people for the next night. If we left, we would have to pay a 50% cancellation fee in addition to the charges for the 3 extra people. In the end, we left because the woman had made things so unbearably uncomfortable for us, that we chose to eat $200 rather than stay at her B&B for another night. Other than that, the accommodations were fine, except for the fact that everything was quite old and creaky, the bathroom was so/so, and the breakfast service was pretty bad--my group sat at different tables and one table received coffee but not water, the other received a muffin basket and water but no coffee, go figure. read more

We stayed Friday night through Sunday morning, with a full wedding party/family, for a wedding held at McCloone's (Yelp to follow). We took 10 of the 14 rooms, I believe. Housing: As Neil noted, it's immaculate. It's an old building, therefore has an old feel, which we liked. Not 'Old' in a run-down sense, at all, but rather nearly historical. The hardwood floors, fixtures, decorations. etc, all speak to a different age. The rooms were spacious, clean, had their own bathrooms, etc. It really made for a nice stay. The shower in our master suite was a tub with the ringed curtain, and the shower head sort of jutted out of the wall, so it wasn't a five-star hotel shower by any means, but we took it as part of the allure/ambiance. It certainly did the job. As an older house, it can get loud with people going up/down the steps, et al, but again, perhaps that's part of the experience. As we had so many of our own people there, it was sort of like being home with the whole family during the holidays. The front porch is a huge selling point. Despite the fact that it rained (and maybe even because it rained) the front port was a gorgeous setting to have breakfast, looking out at the incredibly groomed grounds. Location: Great location. Just a few blocks from the beach. I wouldn't call it 'walking distance', but its close enough to not be a bother. Just make sure you enter the zip into your navigation, so that you don't wind up on Cedar Ave in Long BEACH, as my cousin did (from DC, so he gets a pass), if you're not familiar w/ the area. Staff/Customer Service: This is why they don't get 5 stars. Look, Esther is a business woman, not a "grandmotherly" BnB hostess. She lets you know, up-front, that you are a guest in her house. In fact, she greets everybody with "Hello, I'm Esther, this is my house that you'll be staying in". Nearly everybody jokingly said, within a half-hour of meeting her, "Did I do something wrong?". Its just a strange interaction. Having said that, it is what it is, and her social awkwardness (the best way I can put it) is just part of the game. She was virtually non-existent the rest of the time, and lets you have the run of the house. On Saturday morning, she sat with me for a few minutes as I sat alone on the porch after breakfast, and I found her to be intelligent and business-minded. One interaction to be noted, after the wedding, we came back and a few of us were sitting in the front room talking for a few hours. Needless to say, two of our friends fell asleep sitting up on the couch (at 4 or 5am - we didn't sleep much that weekend), so we just left them there and headed up to bed. At 8am, Esther opened the sliding doors and, upon seeing them, very abruptly tossed them out. Clearly, they shouldn't have been there, and we apologized for that, but she could have had a bit more tact with the situation. We were not aware that there was a bedroom in the back of that front living room (even though there is clearly a door, and clearly a room number on it... we just didn't notice it), so yes, it would have been weird had somebody not associated with our party come out and saw our friends there. I have a feeling most people wouldn't throw a fit about it, knowing an entire wedding party was taking up the house, but yes, they shouldn't have been there. Again, just an interaction that didn't leave everybody feeling warm and fuzzy. Value: Awesome value. Its less expensive than most hotels in the area (that you'd actually want to stay in), and the breakfast is out of this world. Let me say it again, the breakfast is out of this world. I had "Eggs on a cloud", both mornings. Its made-to-order, individually made and served, anywhere within a two-hour window. The setting is beautiful, and we really liked the "hominess" of the the BnB as opposed to the antiseptic stage of a hotel. The big question is, would we do it again? Yes, absolutely. But just know, going in, that you won't get away with anything (ie extra people in your room, so don't try having parents and your 3 kids under 8yrs all in the same room), and its not touchy-feely service... but it is very good, professional service. We stayed there a few summers ago but never again. Greatly disappointed. I never stayed at a BB that put yogurt and a sad excuse for a muffin on fine china and called it a breakfast. Hence the name Bed and breakfast for a lack of quality bed and fast hurry up off my porch eat your meal and off with you. It was not a welcoming feeling we got rather a feeling of intrusion a few times during our stay. And the poor waitress doing all the work from cleaning rooms to serving the fine china. Lord knows what else that girl had to do to keep her job there. I felt bad for her really. We all seemed to be walking on egg shells. The room was ok but it is not as close to the beach as they let you to believe. Quite pricey compared to others establishments. read more
