No clue what they're called and they weren't on the menu but on the specials but they're hot, sugary, and immediately melt in your mouth. I could order a box of these alone. The shop closes around 3pm now due to covid, but definitely come here for breakfast, lunch, snack, or treat! All the dough have the same base and they are all decorated and designed right in front of you. The base is very doughy and heavy, not light like a glazed donut. It had a lot of substance. Personal preference is sweet but savory so I got all the ones in the picture because it was chocolatey with some nuts or had something that jumped out to me. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed as was my family. I can see the quality and the care that was taken when creating these but I just don't think they taste all that great. Holy Cannoli - This was a red velvet donut with cinnamon toast crunch and cannoli cream. I did not think the red velvet donut would go with the cinnamon toast crunch and cannoli cream, but I was wrong. It was appetizing, very different but pleasant. Long Branch - This consisted of pineapple glaze and toasted coconut. This was my first time trying a donut with a pineapple flavor and it was very good. It tasted very similar to a pina colada. That said - I just have to chime in that these donuts are simply delicious works of art. I'm enjoying one as I write this on Day 2 and they're still fresh and delicious. They are smaller, diameter wise, than a Duck donut or Krispy Kreme but much more dense and packed with flavor. I'm a fan of Duck Donuts from when I first had them in OBX and happy they've franchised to where I can take a road trip in NJ to enjoy them again but these guys at Broad St. may have my new favorite donuts. From the street, the store front is non-descript. I have been in this area for over 13 years and never realized what this place was. We discovered this place on yelp and the photos look heavenly! So I decided to come in and order 12 donuts after my wife reviewed the large menu and selected her order. You get to select what you want and they custom make your order on the spot. Fresh donuts always taste better. I think the descriptions could be better, so you know if there is anything inside. Sometimes it is a bit misleading. For example, when it says it has Bavarian cream, you presume it means inside.. learned that lesson. First about the donuts themselves. They are absolutely delicious! Made fresh in front of your eyes. Just make sure you know what your getting. Now about their service... When I first came in, the friendly "Welcome" was shouted out and gave that friendly feel. The same with the service at the register. However... I ordered 1 set of regular donuts and all was well. I then noticed that they had some Holiday donuts and went back to the register and ordered some of the holiday donuts. I made sure to ask for specific types to be included in the holiday batch. The person at the register said ok and I placed my order. While waiting for that order, I met a friend who picked up his order and returned stating that his donuts didn't have the holiday toppings he was expecting. They were just the simple ones. He was met with a rude response, that his order is based on what "He" had ordered. As if the mistake was his, and then they offered to accommodate. Now, curious about my order and wanting to make sure my order included what I asked for, I asked if mine included the ones I had asked for. I was told NO, the batch of 9 does not come with that... Wait? What?! Why didn't the person at the register tell me this when I asked for those specific ones to be included? Once again, I was made to feel as though, its my mistake and they will do me a favor and fix my mistake. They then made 1 of each that I asked for. So they made 3 what I asked for and the rest were plain. That experience completely soured my experience and definitely overshadowed the initial positive experience. read more

I don't know what kind of magic they put into making most of their donuts vegan and gluten-free, but it's definitely pretty impressive! We ended up getting a dozen of the vegan and gluten-free ones, and I'm still pretty amazed at the Bavarian cream doesn't have any dairy in it. My favorite one was the Island Broad which is lemon and coconut. I personally prefer more sour donuts, but there are definitely plenty of choices if you prefer the ones that are more sweet. From all of the variety flavors they have to offer, each donut comes out pipping hot bursting with flavors. If you are not a fan of donuts in general, just try Broad Street and they will certainly convert you and i am being far from dramatic. These donuts are light and fluffy which makes them so easy to eat and devour within seconds. We had gotten a dozen and while all of them were delicious, my favorites were the Nanctucket, Queen B, fruity pebbles and the Howell. You can make your own if you desire and it's all made to order. I did my research the day prior and I gladly opted for the option with bavarian cream, my absolute favorite when paired with the doughnut. We've been driving here from Brooklyn for years. We finally made the drive out yesterday after almost a two year hiatus and were very excited. Unfortunately, the service has completely gone downhill. We were first in line, yet everyone who ordered after us received their orders first. At first, I thought maybe it was because their orders were smaller but no. They looked like they were regulars and knew the workers by name and therefore got their donuts before us. We waited and waited and were apologized to for the long wait even though there was no one else in there by the time we got our donuts, yet we ordered before all of them. Left and drove away to realize they messed up our order and never gave us the churro bites we paid for, and the order was incorrect. Told the girl 4 chocolate donuts and got 6. What a mess. Broad Street Dough Company (BSDC) has REALLY GOOD donuts.  This isn't the fast-food franchise that re-heats frozen pre-made donuts and leaves them in an open air display case for hours. BSDC makes them the "old fashioned" way.  These babies are made fresh, in front of eyes, after an order is placed.  Upon entering BSDC, a large prep area occupies the rear and right side of the store.  Stand-up counters are located to the left and right for those wishing to eat-in.  Directly to the left of the order counter, a large menu adorns the wall.  The selection of doughnuts is vast...traditional, specialty, inside-out stuffed, and toppings of anything you could imagine.  Vegan, Gluten-free, and Parve options are available as well. There's something for everyone and nobody is left out!! We ordered the Mulberry Street, West Park and a seasonal specialty Pumpkin Spice.  Up first was the Mulberry Street, a cannoli filled doughnut  topped with vanilla cream. The first bite was met with a slight crunch, a lite cake-like consistency, cannoli filling and vanilla cream....heaven! The West Park, a barvarian cream topped with chocolate, was equally delicious as was the specialty Pumpkin Spice. BSDC was an excellent experience and brought back some fond memories of OG doughnuts. I've been eating Broad St doughnuts for years but I never been physically there to get the doughnuts myself until recently - had to make a pit stop on my way down to the shore. My cousin always gets it on her way here for our family gatherings and everyone loves them :) I loved every single donut I've tried during our family gatherings (we usually cut the donuts into pieces so everyone can try). It was really hard to narrow it down to 12 donuts when I was ordering (I could of gotten more, but self control). But I will say that the blueberry flavored ones are my absolute favorite. The shop is pretty small and doesn't have any seating area. Luckily for me when I came after Saturday lunch, it was not busy so I was in and out pretty quickly. I am very impressed at how quick the service is here especially because every single donut here is made to order. This can explain why the donuts here are so good, they are super fresh :) Some may think it's a bit pricey (the speciality donuts cost more) but I think it's so worth it! Some of the best donuts you can find by the Jersey Shore. These are small donuts with all sorts of flavors and combinations. They taste freshly baked and the toppings really work. I ordered a bunch of different ones. They aren't necessarily cheap but you pay for the quality. I don't think I could pick my favorite donut since they were all pretty good. Each had a distinct flavor. Take a look at my pics for the different flavors. They are ridiculously good. The one critique is that the service needs to be a little more efficient of an operation. The line kind of moves slow if there is one. Other than that it was a good experience. Once you order the donuts come out quickly. If I am in the area I will definitely stop back in. We got a very brief explanation of their donuts and how they are made to order. We decided to detour a little on our road trip and get some donuts and we were not disappointed! The staff was super friendly from the moment we walked in! We got a 6 pack-vanilla chai, Bavarian Creme, vanilla with sprinkles, s'mores and 2 specials-fruity pebbles and it was supposed to be the m&m with cookie dough pieces but they forgot to add the cookie dough...donut was still great without it tho!
