We came to Kane the day after our wedding and enjoyed leftovers outside in the beer garden, and I've been here on a cold, winter day as a respite from the family during the holidays. Great place! I came here with a coworker and had a great time! I had a few beers here. They have a great selection. I had the Belgium quad, and the German Weiss beer. Both were really good. We didn't the day at the beach yesterday (first really nice day of the season-it was a Thursday) so after a late lunch we wanted to stop in here to check it out. Very nice place: super clean and lots of indoor seating (nothing outside). I tried the Barrel-Aged Brownie Sugar Adjunct Magik which was incredible! My boyfriend tried a few different beers and liked them all. The bartender was friendly and helped us with our beers and T-shirt selection. You also cannot run a tab, it's pay as you go. OCEAN: Kane Brewing Company might be one of the most well-known breweries in New Jersey and Brie finally got her cute little tush over there! An indoor tasting and a seasonal outdoor beer garden are nice spaces to enjoy a fresh craft brew! We really liked their Field & Oak Elderflower sour; it was so refreshing. I can't for the life of me understand the amount of CHILDREN in this brewery. I mean. I don't know about anyone else but I know that places like this aren't where children belong. Went to grab a brew with my spouse and was absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of kids there. Including a 2 year olds birthday party. SERIOUSLY!? Since when is a place where alcohol is served appropriate for kids. Idk. Every table had kids. Like wtf. I don't wanna go drink beers and see kids running around. The tap room is waaaay smaller. Service was good tho. As usual. But on a Saturday evening I'm not trying to enjoy a beer with someone else's shi**y kids all up in my business. That's gotta end. read more

Totally new setup than my visit last summer! The beer garden has a few fewer tables but they added corn hole under the tent; cans only outside. And now the massive inside tasting room is open on weekends - more picnic tables and some standing barrel tables as well; inside they have draft pours and you can do flights too. And the best change of all - seems like BYO food is now allowed! Game changer! I enjoyed the Waimea Punch fruited IPA, and we also brought home a 4-pack of the Sneak which is a Triple IPA which was citrusy and strong! read more

Kane Brewing is a great place to kick back and enjoy some delicious beers and hard seltzers. The brewery is located in an industrial park close to shopping (Costco, Marshalls, HomeSense, Target, etc) and the beach. I enjoy going to breweries and found Kane Brewing through a quick Google Maps search for "breweries near me". I just wish I knew about this location sooner. The facility looks modern and very new. The tasting room has a rotating menu of beers. Unfortunately, there were no flights but the bartender let me sample a flavor before committing to a glass. I love IPAs and there were many on tap. I started with the Sneak, a triple IPA that has 10.2% alcohol. It was delicious and tasted citrusy. I also had a more traditional Kane beer, the Head High, a 6.6% American IPA. This beer was hoppy with smooth bitterness and a crisp grapefruit flavor. I brought a deck of cards and played with my friends. The place is a fun location to hang outm The brewery doesn't serve food but I think I saw people bringing in pizza. Overall, Kane Brewing is a solid brewery for beer lovers. I had enjoyed my previous visit to Kane Brewing years ago and am a frequent consumer of their Head High IPA, so I made sure to stop by on my recent visit to the area. Due to the pandemic, they required an advanced reservation, which was easy to make via OpenTable and allowed us to have a socially-distanced picnic table waiting for us in their outdoor beer garden. Sadly, they were not offering tasting flights, but I was able to get a sample of the Pumpkin Spice Morning Bell from their tap truck. The 9.3% ABV imperial milk porter was way too sweet for my liking, tasting more like burnt brown sugar than pumpkin. However, the full pint of Drift Line that I tried was incredible! The 5.8% ABV oatmeal brown stout had a medium body, making it less heavy than most stouts and not quite as watery as some brown ales. It reminded me of Whopper candy with its chocolate malt flavor. Since the outdoor beer garden was in the parking lot of an office park, the atmosphere was not as rustic as their indoor tasting room, but their incredible indie rock playlist helped us feel more comfortable. Kane's beers are made with quality ingredients, seasonal flavors, and various hops, allowing them to provide something for any palette. read more

Place is huge, first time and you can see they're in the middle of some renovations. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the place. Their staff was helpful and friendly, they have a huge chalkboard with all the drinks as well as paper menus with more info. All their merch was awesome and very wearable. Not just some tacky poorly made shirts with their logos like I would honestly wear any of their gear. *They don't do flights! Not sure if they ever did but they didn't when we went. Kind of a bummer. But they let us sample some things before ordering which I appreciated. Most of the beers they had were like... okay. Some of the bottled wine/beer hybrids were fine but none really hit the flavor notes in their descriptions. The best, most surprising drink they had was their cider- legit felt like fruit purée. Worst worst part..... The gnat/fly issue was insane. I mean truly insane. We moved a few times to get away from them and they were everywhere. Home of the best craft IPAs in NJ including my favorites albeit a smaller variety of beers and a crazy no food allowed policy. So let's just get to it, you'll find in my opinion the best craft IPAs in the state here! I love IPAs, so this place really blows me away and is my personal favorite microbrewery. But I can't give it 5 stars. For one thing the last two times I went there, there were no dark beers on tap, no porters or stouts. They carry for the most part IPAs and ales. I'm sure there's others but not many. I know they used to have a lot of dark beers here. None on tap at all now. Also they are the only microbrewery that I am aware of that does not allow food inside. I'm not sure why but I could probably guess. They have become so popular that they don't feel like cleaning up the mess. Now they deserve to be popular because the beer here really is a step above many of the others. But it really makes it difficult to spend a few hours there without being able to eat. Not to mention it's probably not a bad thing to absorb some of that alcohol in your stomach. When you arrive here you'll think you went to the wrong place. You'll see a person sitting inside a glass entryway. OK that person is going to check your identification and let you in so don't turn around and go back to your car and drive to the next building like I did the first time. There is absolutely no sign out front. The inside of this establishment once you go to the back, main room is amazing! Usually a big fun crowd! When you go in to your right is where you will fill crowlers and growlers. To the left is where you can get tasters or flights. Very highly recommended for some great craft beer, particularly IPAs. read more

Let me start off with I love their beer. I have been coming here for years. I am not a fan of the new taproom. They have fewer beers on tap and nothing super special. I had the banana pancake antead last summer. What happed to a random overhead ddh out of nowhere. They took the touches of standing in the barrel room and tried to mimick it in the new tap room and it doesn't work. Maybe a few more places to sit but not enough room to spread out. Can you please put on tap the newly released beer as I would like to try it before I buy it. I have begged them for years to do this but refuse to do so. I just feel like there is no more customer service and it is a generic tap room that could serve any beer, just happens to be Kane. Also no flights as of this visit June 2023. And then can I mention the promise of the return of home delivery and that they will not respond to anyone on social media with an answer. I asked someone in the taproom today and it's a no for now. Without home delivery, I have to come down to the taproom to purchase any of the special beers. This taproom just doesn't make me feel like it's worth the hour drive from North NJ do be able to drink most of the Kane I can get at my local store. I love all of the SBX stuff and many of the barrel aged stouts. But is it worth an hour drive to come down to the new (2023) taproom. I my case probably not but I will still drink sneakbox and head high when I can get it close to me read more

We stopped in today around 2:00. The parking lot was packed and the tasting room very lively as well. We decided on 2 flights of four 4-oz tasters. This part was a little off for me, you pay the 4-oz price for each of the beers you select and don't really know what it's going to cost. In our case two flights were $21.50 which is just way too much. Thats $10.75 per pint and close to $12 a beer after tip. We sampled the Overhead, Party Wave, Head High and Brighten the Corners in one and a few others that slip my mind right now in the other. I've had Head High in the past and enjoy it and the others were good but nothing that left me wanting to go grab a pint of it. My girlfriend and her sister felt the same. We decided to head out after that and I don't really see myself in a rush to come back. The prices were just way too high, how can the beer be more expensive at the place where it's brewed than in a local bar/restaurant? read more

Decided to take our first trip down on Saturday and we were pretty disappointed in our experience. We felt maybe we should provide some feedback of our bizarre experience. I will preface with we aren't die-hard Kane fans, only because of limited exposure. We frequent Jacks goal-line, Tommy's Tavern in Sea Bright and some other NJ local establishments and of course have tried all the staples like Head High and Sneakbox, but to be honest, we had never made our way down to the brewery location. With that being said, however, huge local-to-NJ beer fans and love to support local business.  After seeing a Kane x Rook Collab shared on Instagram, we decided to make the trip down from NY to see what it was all about. Of note, the website draft list is not up-to-date.  Upon arriving, we had requested a bottle of the  Sunday brunch beer. We were extremely disappointed to find out that this was take-away only. We informed the bartender that we would be happen to purchase the bottle and just request two glasses, but we were denied (which I can't for the life of me understand why it can't be enjoyed on premise).  Instead, we expressed what we both wanted, my fiance ask the bartender what her favorite beer was and he'd have that. 99% sure he was served wine. Only upon getting it to the table did he realize that the Field & Oak line could very well be wine... possibly a sour, although not hoppy whatsoever. It was an extremely small pour at just shy of half a glass. I had the Ghost Rainbow and it was very good, but $33?! I'm sorry, why? We got to the table and Corey goes "where's the rest of it". That is outrageous pricing. As mentioned, happy to support local business but I can't help but think something is wrong here and again, still skeptical he was even served beer, as requested.  Wine (?) and all, here's the the part that really left a sour taste in our mouths...not five minutes after sitting down at a table, one of the bartenders took a bottle of Sunday brunch out of the fridge, opened it, and poured it around for the staff to share behind the bar, in PLAIN SIGHT of the guests that just asked you to do that for us.  After watching that, we were sure the bartender that helped us maybe misunderstood our request. We finished our drinks and I decided to go up and try our request again, making sure to reiterate we will buy the entire bottle and share it between us with our existing glasses. Shot down again without explanation. In fact, I was told "that's just how it goes" by someone who literally just drank it in front of me.  I expressed that we were over an hour from home and were concerned about purchasing a bottle and having it travel back home with us to NY. I asked if they could provide packaging and ice and instead were referred to Wegmans, across the way. I apologize but I didn't have a trusty cooler with me and after spending $55 on two of possibly the smallest drinks we have ever been served at an establishment, we really didn't think we should also have to purchase a cooler and a bag of ice to get this bottle home.  We would really appreciate to hear from you. We do not complain but out of everywhere we frequent, this was by far the least inviting and enjoyable experience to-date.  It's pretty disheartening to us, considering your beer is available all over the state. read more

Most places I have been to will give you a 10oz pour when the beer is over a certain alcohol level. The bar tender at Kane did say it would be a smaller pour which I was expecting to be 10oz. I was give a 2.5oz glass and charged about 7:50 and with tip that was $9. What a rip off!!!!! I have made many trips to Kane and have been given 10oz pours before. I assumed that the bar tender had made a mistake but he said that's the size they serve. Well I am done with Kane which is unfortunate as I do like their beers especially their porters and brow ales. So when you are one of the top-rated breweries in NJ, even the region, you don't worry about much signage. Used GPS and then saw all the cars. 1 PM on Sunday. Kane is busy. Don't expect signage. Big industrial space. You cannot drink at the tasting bar where you order. Carry your tasters or pints to other standing spots or picnic style tables. Actually writing this while sipping on a Belgian style brown ale I tasted. Simple Saints is its name. So good. They fill growlers from other breweries. We also brought home cans of their fundamental Kane IPAs, Head High and Overhead. Also liked their grapefruity IPA. Even looking at their website, I can't get all the names. Can see many of the barrels they use for their barrel-aged. We have seen Kane on a few top craft lists, so glad we trekked here. A good pilgrimage. Hubby and I agree we prefer the atmosphere of some smaller NJ tasting rooms (ie Carton, Magnify, Alementary, Departed Soles). But hey, Kane is Kane so large it is! Glad we went and brought home a growler and some cans. read more

This place is cool. When you arrive it looks like an office building. When you open the doors, if you go to the right there's an actual engineering company in one door, door number 2? A brewery. No joke. Pretty funny. We went into the first area which would be like a check in for reception at a doctors office me that's where they pour your selection and sell shirts, hoodies etc. then you open ANOTHER door and it's the area where they made the warehouse into a brewery. There are lots of places to stand and drink. This place holds a lot of people and a lot of people do come. The beer is really good. You can actually tell the water they're using is good water in the beer. Sneak box was my favorite this time. We took some different selections home to trade too. Fun spot my only complaint is that I wish they had seating because I don't always want to stand the whole time. Maybe that's how they get people to leave? Sick of standing? Who knows. They are making some of the best beer in NJ. But I think I went during the wrong time. We strolled in on a Sat at 3pm before a party in the area. The brewery was jam packed. Parking lot was full but after a turn spots slowly opened up. You are greeted by someone at the door who will ask for ID and stamp your hand. First room you open to is their small merchandise room where they also fill growlers. Then you walk into their larger space and the line divides into cans only on the right and pints and flights on the left. Line goes pretty quickly but I wished there was time to talk about taste profiles like you can at smaller breweries. We lucked out and a bench table opened up as we perused the area. I wished they had their menus on the table so that I can read the beer descriptions during my flight. Despite some reservations, beer was tasty and they have a wide range of selection. Ok, so you can't go wrong with Kane beer, however, the actual brewery experience there isn't what it used to be. They've done several improvements with the overall look of the tasting room, and it looks great, but the number of beers offered is now limited AND you cannot get small pours on most of the beers like you used to be able to. When I go to a brewery, I prefer to sample a couple different beers rather than commit to a full pour of an 8% beer. The vibe just feels off like they don't really prioritize the tasting room experience anymore and maybe are more focused on their distribution...? When asked about why they don't offer small pours anymore the response received was that "the brewers want their beers presented a certain way". What used to be a cool, laid back place with awesome beers has become more of a snobby environment that doesn't really cater to beer lovers. read more

I've been to many a breweries in many a states. So happy and proud to see my home state have a one-of-a-kind! I am personally not a fan of IPAs, but I still tried one of them. The stouts, particularly, the Morning Bell was AMAZING. We wanted to buy a few cans to take home, but we were so disappointed to learn that that was one of the beers they didn't sell. Bummer. I really have nothing bad to say about Kane. It was the cleanest brewery I've ever been to. They have their own brand and style on lock. We really loved the flights and the presentation. I'd probably recommend adding a few more picnic tables to provide more seating for groups. PSA for folks who are annoyed that there are kids around. I am not a parent yet, but this is 2018 -- a new millennial age where adults can be great parents, but still not have to hide away and give up their entire lives for their children. My experience at Kane was overwhelmingly positive! I wouldn't say I'm a beer aficionado but I truly enjoyed all of the beers I tried. First of all when you arrive here it's pretty much unmarked so just follow your gps and you'll arrive at an unmarked office building but don't worry, the brewery is inside. I started with a flight of beer and tried simplicity, cloud cover, mosaic punch, and head high. Cloud cover was easily my favorite followed by mosaic punch. Overall the Belgian beers were great. The line was short to order and the service was excellent! As someone that doesn't know much about beer, I appreciated the patience and the descriptions that the staff provided. I held off writing any review on breweries until I visited at least two so I at least be able to compare. I've done so and now I can compare. I've been to the other famous brewery, Carton Brewery. As I drove there, I kept thinking, where is my gps taking me? Turns out it's in the industrial part of town. I past it the first time thinking these buildings look like office complexes. Had it not been for some guys getting on their Harley's and riding out with huge keg bottles, I would have missed it. Ah the ADHD actually helps me sometimes. Hubby and I park our car and go in. Upon entering, you'll feel like you're going into a physician's office. Go through the doors and make a left. You'll soon see a couple of people behind a counter. They sell hats, thirst, etc regarding their brewery. They tell you to go through another set of doors and that leads you to massive barrels sitting on its side, aging to be liquid gold. You'll see many picnic tables, barrels to stand by as you drink and have a place to place your four samples in a wooden slab with cut holes for each cup along with numbers etched on the side and a card numbering from 1-4 so you can write down which beer is which. You'll see a long bar where many people stand and drink but they are away from the bartender so you can order. No squeezing in and accidentally cut someone who's been waiting. They as many as 8 different samples and they give the perfect amount of beer with a head on it. Some places have too much head and not as much beer. The bartenders all know their beers. You can chat with what types of beers you normally like and they can offer some solid suggestions. I personally like stout beers. I'm a winter beer kinda gal, I was told. Who knew because I certainly never thought too much about it. Things I learn about myself to this day. They don't have anything to eat because they're a brewery and brewery can't serve food. There's also a sign indicating "please don't bring food into their establishment." You can get pretty sloshed there so definitely eat a lot before you drink. There's a water fountain with cups. Hydrate yourself and go slow. No rush to drink everything within a half hour. What made me give this establishment 5 stars whereas Carton 4 stars. I like the beer here better. It's smoother. I love the samples I had. Mind you, both establishments change their samples so what's true this week can change in a few weeks. However, I went to both places a week apart. I also like the tour better here. The guy who gave it really knew his beer and how it was crafted and allowed us to see the actual hops and while he personally doesn't craft the Kane beer there, he's crafted beer on his own. He's more then just a tour guide. It's obvious he also genuinely loved beer. The spaciousness was much more though out as compared to Cartons. There was an actual line formed as people patiently waited to go up to the bartender/cashier to order and pay. Both Kane and Cartons bartenders all knew their beer. Again, Carton is planning to expand so we will see how they really compare once they have more space for drinking. I will definitely make my way back out there to sample more beer in a few months. I have to give them time to switch samples. I'll check back with my terrific fellow Yelpers to see if there are new samples. :) read more

Bottom line: if you like their beer, go. It's awesome! Long line: so, I really like Kane's beers. Can't lie, coming here was a lot of fun and not technically planned, but overall we had a great experience. Their barrel aged beers are amazing. It's great that they keep everything open, and we saw some very active fermentation happening. I only wish their location was closer to me. Meh. I left unimpressed. Been to many a brewery, and maybe I have an unusually high standard from all the time I lived in California, but meh... They don't allow dogs (ding one), they don't serve food or allow food to be brought in (ding two -- but c'mon really?! that makes zero sense for a place that serves alcohol. I hear this may be a Jersey thing though. C'mon New Jersey ), the beer board is straight impossible to read (ding three - see pic. Who decided it was a good idea to write in teeny tiny blue letters on a blackboard?), and last and most annoying, it was packed with Jersey millennials (ding four). On top of all that, the pours we got (Stouts, IPAs) were mediocre & nothing special, there wasn't any seating available (limited to some picnic tables), and it was freezing to stand in the warehouse. Drove all the way out from Philly and likely won't be back. Two stars for the great bottles that I've gotten from here before. I recommend ordering those ahead when you can and swinging by to pick them up without stopping in for all the other nonsense. read more

Kane Brewing - impossible-to-read beer board - Breweries Near Me - Ocean, New Jersey

I had a lot of time before a trans-Atlantic flight out of Newark, so I popped down to Kane with a fellow Yelper to try some of their beers. I wanted something strong before my flight, so I ordered 4 oz glasses of "Picture in Reverse" and "Tomorrow is Already Here". Picture in Reverse is a bourbon barrel-aged ale that is quite strong at 13.2% ABV, but also quite tasty. It almost tasted like I was sipping a glass of bourbon. This is one I'd definitely consider getting again and I wish I could get it closer to my home in Albany. "Tomorrow", on the other hand, was nothing to write home about. This was a rye barrel-aged wheatwine with maple syrup. Way too heavy on the sugar and the maple overpowered everything. It almost felt like I was drinking a glass of maple syrup. While there were a lot of people inside with parking hard to come by, the space felt open and airy, with plenty of room to move around.
