I had been looking forward to trying Once Bitten Donuts after hearing great things, and while the experience was enjoyable, it didn't completely live up to my expectations. The donuts were fresh and visually appealing, and I appreciated the creative flavors available. However, I found some of the flavors to be a bit sweeter than I personally prefer, and I wasn't blown away considering the price point. It was definitely one of those spots that was more focused on the instagram picture over the taste of the product itself. That being said my nieces and nephews loved the sesame street options! Such a cute little shop that is known for their donuts, coffee and ice cream. I really wanted to love this place but I found it to not be for me. They have tons of creative donut choices. The prices through me off guard $4 a donut or $22 a half dozen. Stopped in around 4pm on a Friday. Donut choices were slim pickens at this time. Apparently only so many of all the creative choices are premade throughout the day. There is two different counters, one to order donuts and one for coffee and ice cream. After waiting almost 15 minutes for one of the employees to finally come over to the donut counter I picked my plain option donuts and left. The plain glazed are just ok, not worth the $4 price tag. Now I'm sure one of the fancy ones would have been. The cinnamon bun on the other hand was very delicious. Out very early today and I wanted something sweet so i yelped up Once Bitten and motored over. The store fro t is epic! A confectionery Christmas tree in the front window is fantastic! First time there and I was pleasantly surprised how cute and energetic the entire shop is. It's magnificent! The was one very nice super helpful fellow behind the counter and he was patient with my enthusiasm. The choices are vast and the names are creative adding to the ambiance. I got 2 the Peanut Butter Jelly time and the Raspberry Beret to go took them home and cut them in half. Both donuts had different cake. The PBJ was a fried whole donut and jam packed with jam. The Raspberry Beret was a cake donut which was just topped with jelly, white chocolate l, and crumble crumbs. Both were outrageous, beyond excellent! This place is a major sweet tooth gem and they have a magnificent coffee section too. The Cannoli donut had stale cake and an old, past-fresh cannoli shell perched on top. The pumpkin pie donut was also not fresh, and the pretzel log used for the stem was soft and old. The fillings, however, were tasty for both. Adding insult to injury, though, is the fact that they feel the need to charge extra for using a credit card. That's evil itself -- but when you're charging almost $5 for a donut, there's no excuse for it. read more

Accountability matters. Communication matters. And how an owner responds when something goes wrong tells you a lot more than when things go right. I think it's important to speak up when an experience leaves a lasting impression and not in a good way. I had an issue at Pump It Up, and while no business is perfect, what really disappointed me was the way the situation was handled afterwards. Since then, I learned the same owner of this establishment and Pump it Up are one and the same. Based on how Luis (the owner) handled my situation I personally can't recommend supporting it. I'm sharing this so others can decide for themselves, but I believe customers deserve better, not just in service, but in respect. read more

Finally got a chance to stop in and check this place out. The inside is very clean and bright and they had a ton of options, including ice cream. We were there to try a donut and got the Halloween themed Boston Cream. The donut was super fresh and loaded with custard filling, which a lot of places skimp on. My wife and I both thought it was good. I do think prices are a bit high (as they are everywhere). It was $4.12 for a regular donut and specialty ones were closer to $5.00. However, my coffee experience withhas been frustrating to say the least. On my first visit I was served old coffee. They did then make a fresh brew after my complaint. On this most recent visit I first asked if coffee was fresh and was told "yes". This time it was like warm to which I was told something about machine warming up. I waited and was served a second cup of like warm coffee. After a stint in the microwave, slightly warmer. This is a lovely addition to the Red Bank downtown so for me, I hope this is received as constructive commentary. A donut shop needs fresh, hot coffee. I hope they can improve on this. read more

I got the raspberry beret crumb donut because all the other ones looked like they'd be too artificial and sweet. This donut was still really sweet, but I can't even imagine how the ones loaded up with all the caramel or chocolate syrup would be. The donuts are already made so come early to get the freshest ones. We preferred the yeast donuts over the cake but both were very good. Wish the cake donuts had a glaze then toppings.
