I've been there several times and order the same takeout order every time. Every time it's the same order. A scrambled egg and cheese on a hard roll no meat no potatoes. I've been charged three different prices three different times. Today when I walked in and I ordered the same sandwich it was $9.54 no meat no potatoes. I asked the waitress who took care of me why it was a different price than the last time which was $7.57. She says I don't know. I just work here. This place is located in the former Perkins chain restaurant. When we mentioned we had been there when it was Perkins our waitress told us it is owned by one of the two partners who ran Perkins and that he kept the kitchen staff as well as herself. We were there for a later weekday breakfast. The carafe of coffee was a welcome sight. We ordered silver dollar pancakes and a meat lovers skillet. The portions were sizable and the skillet was actually served in a bowl. The pancakes were done nicely and the abundance of meats, cheese and potatoes topped with my over easy eggs in the skillet made for a very satisfying dish. To say we were filled is an understatement as we had leftovers to take home. The service was friendly and attentive. We were quite satisfied with the meals. Definitely great for breakfast but their menu contains much more if you go for a different meal. read more

If I could give this place a 0 I would. My family and I have been going to this place for years and never once had an issue until..... all of the good staff left and now they have the most inept staff. We went in today and the owner was so rude. He said we run his staff ragged. What? We ordered our food and drinks and the waitress forgot a bunch of stuff so we had to keep asking. I told the owner that his comment was rude and he refused to apologize. Instead he said that he's the owner and nobody is above him and basically he's better than everyone else and everyone loves him. I have never been to such an establishment where the owner was so rude and defends inept staff and food quality has gone downhill. The other reviews were right, you don't get your full order and have to keep asking and then they get rude because they actually have to do their job. Go to Over Easy Kitchen - Marlboro, STAX, or Almost Home General instead. Their food and customer service are SO MUCH better!!!!! read more

We love this place. Owner is very welcoming and cares about his customers. Food is fresh and delicious always prepared to our liking. Very kid friendly which is a plus especially these days. Avoid eating here!! Today I went there with a friend for breakfast and let me tell you. The coffee is colored water, I order a veggie skillet - no flavor, broccoli was yellow and rest of mixed vegetables seemed like a frozen bag of mixed vegetables you buy from ShopRite. The placement of my table got me grossed out the kitchen walls were filthy! No way this play was sanitary which is sad and probably unsafe to eat there. The only good thing about this visit was the staff were friendly and nice. - if the owner reads this!! Came here for Sunday brunch to meet up with a friend during my recent visit to the east coast. The restaurant looked pretty busy but we didn't have to wait long to be seated and order our food. I ordered the Farmer's Omelette with breakfast potatoes and a toasted apple cinnamon muffin. Everything tasted good and the omelette was huge. I didn't finish my entire meal, but I probably still took in well over 1000 calories. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. Our food came out pretty fast. One bad thing I noticed was when a different waiter serving a large table next to us brought out their food. The dishes were stacked on top of each other--gross! I'd rather have them bring out the food in waves than to bring it all out at once and have half of them contaminated. Good thing our waiter didn't do that (but we were a small party of 3). Even though it's a chain, I tend to come here for brunch whenever I'm on the east coast. Just had a great experience at this small restaurant tucked away in a Colts Neck shopping center. I had an omelette stuffed with fresh spinach, mushrooms and American cheese, with an order of sausage on the side. The 4 sausages were well cooked, tasty and juicy. The omelette was enormous- so fresh, so delicious- or as I like to describe it " Made with love"- this chef knows how to cook a proper omelette! Out for a late breakfast early lunch. Order the spinach and mushroom Sunrise Skillet with egg whites which was really good and then I had a blueberry muffin with that. My wife will order the Sonoma Chicken Salad which we've had other Perkins and is really good. However, this salad had seeded grapes so if you are at this Perkins please check your grapes for seeds. read more

This place is amazing. I had just got into town with my kids. I was hungry and frazzled and looked this place up. I am so glad I did. They had just closed and I, not seeing the sign walked in. They offered to take my order and cooked it to go. Not only that but they were so friendly and accommodating to my families allergies. And the food was so good, my kids said we should give them 5,000 stars because they were so nice. Wonderful food and wonderful customer service, is a plus in my book. Wow, wow, wow. I didn't think I would ever see a place so bad that I would have to select 1 star. I've even posted some bad reviews but still couldn't bring myself to click that single star. This place deserves an award for the rudest wait staff in the world. It should be big and shiny and have a statue of a waitress giving you the finger perched ever so arrogantly right on top. I'm fully aware that Sunday mornings are the busiest for breakfast restaurants so I expect to wait, not a problem. And we did. But that's alright. The problem with the wait is why? Why were so many people waiting to have breakfast in this restaurant? When a restaurant is busy it's usually a indication of how good the restaurant is. Well a Perkins is a Perkins is a Perkins. Food, average, nothing to really write home about. It's a chain and it's virtually impossible to screw up pancakes. But this review is not about the food. I don't think that even if the food was the greatest food on earth it would make up for experience you get with the wait staff in this Perkins. And while the experience at this Perkins was beyond awful, i'll get to that in a moment, it shouldn't be a reflection on all Perkins locations. The Perkins we go to generally is the one in Freehold and that one is pretty good. We finally get seated after waiting almost an hour, but again, the complaint is not about the wait. It's Sunday morning. The table was dirty, the seats were dirty, so we asked the host if they could wipe down the seats. Wait, wait, I did say please! Well this was received by the host with a roll of the eyes and a huff. We ended up standing there for 10 minutes waiting for someone to come over and clean the seats and table. I don't know about you but I don't feel like sitting in pancake juice. Finally seated, we peruse the menus and wait for someone to come and serve us. A nice cup of coffee would hit the spot right about now. So we wait, and wait, and wait... 15 minutes goes by and still no service. So now it's been a total of 25 minutes from the time our name was called to the time that a waitress finally shows up. But i'm nice. Why start off the meal on a bad note? I don't think I have ever seen a person more miserable than our waitress. No smiles. No friendly greetings. I also don't think I've ever seen a person huff quite as much as her. It was genuinely funny because it was almost overly exaggerated. Like she was going out of her way to deliberately huff. I chuckled. We put our order in and we wait, and wait, and wait some more. 45 minutes goes by, we haven't even seen our waitress to ask about our meal. And believe me, we were looking. We were looking and looking. She disappeared! For 45 minutes we never once saw our waitress anywhere in the restaurant. Just when I was going to get up and approach the host, another waitress brings over our food. We are approximately 10 minutes into our breakfast when our waitress finally emerges from whatever cave she was hiding in and comes over to our table. At this point you figure she's going to ask how everything is, or if there's anything we need, or any number of things that the wait staff generally comes over and asks. But the question we were asked by our illusive waitress was a question that I have never been asked by any other waiter or waitress in my entire life...."How long are you going to be?" At first I thought I must have heard that incorrectly, but I was in sort of a stunned trance, so I was just sitting there staring at her trying to compute what I had been asked. But before I had the chance to say "Excuse me?" she again asked "How long are you going to be?" But then she expanded on her original statement to give clarity to what she was asking and she followed up her question with "It's very busy and there are a lot of people waiting. Could you hurry up so we can seat someone else?" I know what you're thinking. It's impossible. There is no way that a waitress said that to you. Well my friends, I was thinking the same thing. But I found humour in this entire sitcom of a breakfast. I was thoroughly disgusted with our waitress' attitude and disregard for customer service. But what is the point of speaking out? What would I gain from getting into a verbal boxing match with this miserable she-devil. Free breakfast? Maybe, but i'm not worried about saving $15. I did what I felt would be the best way to show her my disapproval.... I left 12 cents on the table as my tip. If you ever want to send a definable message to an awful waitress, leave 12 cents. Don't leave nothing, it does not have the same impact or insult as 12 cents. Now I know that this 12 cent tip was a message, and I know that it was going to be received in a bad way by this waitress. And I know this because she came chasing after us as we walked out of the restaurant yelling "Was there a problem?" waving her fist up in the air. The worst Perkins I have ever been to! They should just close! There was no hostess to greet us upon entering. When she finally arrived, she took our name, we sat and then were instantly called. Pointless. It was chilly out, but they had a fan blowing above our table and our neighbors', in which they could not shut off. The table had not been cleaned before we sat down. The waitress was slow in taking our order and then delivering it to us. I also saw her coughing on her pad, which she later gave to a customer as their check. My brother's burger had a piece of a black dark square, which we still don't know how it got there or what it was. They did take that off the bill, but the service was slow, the place needs renovating and they need to spruce up their kitchen staff. Each table received their food In Twenty min intervals so by the the time our last table received their food everyone else had finished their meal. Great food, cooked to perfection! The owner and his wife are extremely warm and friendly and welcome you with a spirit of hospitality. I think their children work there too. There is somewhat of a southern hospitality in the way they greet and acknowledge you. Me and my husband have become regulars, we just love the atmosphere! We love the food, and have tried most items on the menu. We love the shrimp and grits! Best pancakes ever! and you will absolutely love the desserts, I rarely ever leave without a slice of wild berry pie. The baking is done on premise. It's also very affordable! I was waiting for my daughter who was attending band practice at Colts Neck High School for the Colts Neck Band one cold evening and decided to get a coffee and muffin at this particular Perkins. I stood waiting to be seated for a considerable amount of time without anyone so much as even giving me a glance or acknowledgment, I thought I was invisible. There was no hostess or waitress to be found and some middle aged man behind the counter who refused to lift his eyes up for fear that someone might be standing there. I visited with a co-worker for breakfast during our lunch hour. I had the very berry pancakes (5 blueberry pancakes) with a side of the chicken apple sausage. Our waitress gave me the option of 3 or 5 pancakes and I chose 5. They provide a pot of coffee for the table if you order it and the coffee was good and hot. I thought the pancakes were very good and they were big and stuffed with blueberries. The 4 sausage links were different but also tasty. I finished everything. The service was very good and friendly. I have breakfast there all the time and I have never experienced a server being rude or untimely bringing food to the table. Everyone there is so kind and welcoming. They have recently decided to redecorate and have really made the place look brand new. I have yet to experience anything out of the ordinary with my food or beverage there are NO bugs or anything of the sort that could even remotely make me think this place was dirty. All the workers seem happy and there is always lots of laughter among them and other customers. There is more of a family feel when you go in there when you see the same regulars day in and day out.
