    BLTE sandwich
    Marilu S.

I went to first watch and enjoyed myself a morning breakfast with my younger sister. We ordered a coffee each, two fresh healthy juices (pineapple express & morning meditation juice drink), and for our breakfast meal we ate BLTE and the Elevated Egg sandwich. The service was great, the waitress was friendly and showed us their seasonal spring menu. The ambiance was calm as it was still pretty early during the morning hours. There were a couple of tables dining in as well. The restaurant interior was pretty and the service was quick. I would definitely want to come back and check out more of their menu. 10/10 restaurant rec.

Updating my review after second visit a week later. Maybe it comes down food choices on second time around? We ordered Floridian French toast which was very good with the fresh fruit and the warm berry compote added. Very heart warming. Friend had the BLTE sandwich which came with choice or side. He opted for tomato basil soup. Also had a juice blend. Coffee was good too. All was very good I'd say. Quickly seated on a Saturday morning. Note to staff. Be careful with the hair. Hair was stuck to the berry compost cup. Don't see it til I finished. Ain't mine cuz I ain't got lucky in the hair dept lol.

I really liked the dining area, so open and easy on the eyes. My bro & I wanted a nice lunch and I wanted to try this new venue up the road a bit. Natalie and Nicole were our servers and told us the restaurant opened 3months ago. Bring on the coffee and menus. I had a roast beef and Harvati cheese sandwich with an abundance of argula. Possibly a bit too much. Excellent tasting sandwich. My bro pigged out. Two Giant pancakes, buttermilk biscuits with gravy (Southern style). And seasoned potatoes. This cafe chain leans towards the healthier aspects of breakfast, brunch & lunch.

First Watch recommended by my sister in law. Breakfast was very good! The whole wheat chocolate chip pancake was delicious! Liked having the coffee carafe at the table! Got to go fresh squeezed orange juice! Relaxing environment! Server checked in on me!

First time here and the service was very good. We came on a Saturday, late in the morning and it was surprisingly not crowded. I ordered the eggs benedict which was good, I didn't love the ham and would have preferred canadian bacon but I knew what I was ordering from the menu so that's on me. The hollandaise was really great and a little lemon-y. Potatoes are cooked to perfection, but I wish there were more onions!! I tried some of the elote breakfast burrito which is a summer special and I think I'll order that next time, very fresh and flavorful. I appreciate the restaurants commitment to quality ingredients and intentional sourcing. This location was clean and inviting!

This was my first time eating at first watch. I went with some of my sorority sisters as we were in town for a going for a very dear friend of ours. The service was amazing. The food was on point and some very eclectic dishes and drinks were on the menu I must say for my first time I was impressed, but the service was slow when it came to giving out the food our waitress came over more than once to check on us, which was great, but if you're not bringing the food out, why even check on us we're just sipping water to your coffee. Then when the food came out the waitress disappeared. She stopped checking on us when she finally did come back. We are ready to pack up and go and take our bill and Relief. Oh no it was a 50-50 experience. I'll have to try another one in a different town city and state just to give it a fair shake.

So this was my first time here. It's an 'upscale' brunch place. Multigrain everything. Kale & power bowls on the menu. The food tasted nice & fresh. I usually get green peppers but apparently they didn't have green peppers only red or green chile peppers. They also didn't have American cheese. Only mozzarella cheddar or Gruyère. The toast was thick. Only 1 slice cut in half slathered with butter and a small side of strawberry jelly. I prefer my bacon extra crispy, unfortunately it wasn't crispy enough. The food was decent. The service was good. The server I had apparently was training another person. I like sitting at counters. However this counter I was sitting at was awkward. I had to turn in order to speak to my server. If I go back I'll choose a table instead. They have outdoor seating as well. My meal was about $20 not including tip. If you like to customize your eggs I would be cautious eating here as they have very limited choices.

My husband & I dined in for breakfast on Tuesday. I did not expect it to be so busy on a Tuesday, but it's a newer restaurant to the area, so I guess everyone was as curious as us. We got seated right away in a booth. It's an open space concept, sort of modern farmhouse vibes, plenty of tables. Our server was nice, got started with some drinks. I tried the lavender drink, Purple Haze. It was good, a little more sugary than I had anticipated, but still refreshing. My husband ordered the trifecta- pancakes, bacon and eggs. The presentation was nice, it's not a short stack however, it's just one giant pancake. I ordered the power quinoa bowl, with basted eggs- I never had basted, & wasn't offered a different style, but I actually enjoyed them. The bowl was delicious, right amount of seasoning & dressing, & not an overpowering portion. The menu seems to rave about the in house made crimini mushrooms on several sections of it, but truthfully, that was my least favorite part of the bowl & I am a mushroom lover. I also had a side of biscuits & gravy- also delicious, husband snuck some of that from me. Two juices, one side, & two entrees came out at just about $52. Slightly pricey, but I would rather spend more on good, healthy food. (Well semi healthy with this order). Server checked on us just enough. They also have a patio, which I'm sure will be full in the summer. Great experience, would definitely recommend.

This place rules! Happy to see First Watch in the area. It was packed when we went because it is the holidays and people don't want to cook. Lots of families. The seating is spacious and we were seated after a short wait. The staff were welcoming and professional. The food was delicious and came out quick. The menu has a lot of variety. I tried the lemon ricotta pancakes (my fave), iced mint mocha, and a bite of omelette. Everything was made fresh.

I've been meaning to try First Watch since they opened and finally got around to going for a quick brunch. The restaurant was busy as expected. Our server was friendly and took our order quickly. The restaurant is big with a nice ambiance. We tried the honey caramel crunch iced coffee and a regular iced coffee to start. For our entrees we ordered the breakfast tacos and biscuit & gravy with eggs. Overall it was a good experience and I'd consider coming back.

Will this restaurant within the wooded highway in Tinton Falls make you scream "Tally-ho?" Let's…read morefind out. Brand: 4/5 As of writing this review, the family-owned Tally-Ho Restaurant breached its 30th Anniversary serving the Tinton Falls community. I hope that this eatery continues to display its simple yet unique aesthetics for 30 more years. The outside has a very unassuming look, while the interior has canvases of abstract art and country decor such as horses. The tiles and the walls themselves definitely fit the country vibes that works with the establishment, though I am not sure how long it can maintain this image. Website: 5/5 The aesthetics have that classy aesthetic, with the straight, sans serif font, and the wine-red that serves as the thematic color. It immediately welcomes you to a reservation button, an email newsletter sign-in, and categories of the menu items. While the menu does not have images of the items, they do present themselves with transparency, since a few of the menu items do admit that market prices do occur. Ambiance: 4/5 I came during the weekday afternoon, meaning that the establishment did not have a live customer presence. Indeed, I was the only customer to not seat myself in the dining area outside of the bar. I will credit Tally-Ho for having options in terms of space, whether you wish to drink in the bars, you wish to sit at the tables near the television, or you wish to simply eat in the dining areas, including parts where the booths have their own walled sections. Every part of the establishment has enough space. However, my table had a sticky surface and the television did get a bit noisy. Service: 5/5 I did think it was a bit redundant to have a sign requesting any potential customers to wait before being seated, only for the owner to tell me that I could sit anywhere. Perhaps the sign is intended for happy hours or any time that involves lots of customers. The owner did accommodate me with a sharper knife for my meal, and offered me some soda, which I politely declined. Wait Time: 4/5 I did wait a while for my meal to arrive, despite the establishment having a toned down presence of customers. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Veal Parmigiana Sandwich with a side of fries, and a bottle of water. I will say that the presentation of the meal itself surprised me, almost resembling a pizza. However, it only worked against it because the veal eclipsed the bread itself. The well-melted Parmesan cheese gave its cheese stretch and the veal itself had a thick succulence as intended. The bun held its form despite the size of the veal. I simply had to cut the veal before I could eat it with the buns. The french fries had a lot of crispiness (a bit too much), though they did complement the sandwich quite well. Worth The Money?: 3/5 The website described Tally-Ho Restaurant as a "hidden gem," and I can see how it would work for it. Indeed, its unique position along a wooded highway with a rural-coastal connection definitely works with its brand. It offers Italian food, while also maintaining its country aesthetics. However, I do not know how many people who would travel between these parts would become potential customers. It seemed to me that Tally-Ho has a central base of consumers that keep it going, which I can see working but it would not have long-term benefit. The fact that I had to include a knife with my sandwich proves that the ownership understands that some meals need accommodation. I did have a pleasant time throughout my meal, since having my own booth did give me comfort, and the meal was appropriately timed. I do not think that the delayed wait time outweighs the ambiance, but only slightly. I am concerned about the future of this establishment, though nothing anytime soon. I do not have any real suggestions except for the leadership of the establishment to ask based on what I wrote earlier about "What would Tally-Ho look like for 30 more years?" I do not know if I would make Tally-Ho my first or second choice, unless I intend to bring a lot of people for a catering event. I will say that the Veal Parmigiana Sandwich and fries did match the price. Rating: 4/5 Stars I had a pretty good experience and had no regrets coming. Recommend To... Anyone who wishes to eat at an Italian restaurant with space being the most important factor in your decision. Indeed, you have plenty of options as to where you sit (depending on the time of day of course).

Ambience was quiet and I think it has to do with the crowd, most of tables was older folks(70ish+), food (big portions) was just ok, drinks also ok, a bit on the pricey side for this type of restaurant the service was extremely slow, probably the reason why we will not go back. It took 15 minutes before they bring the bread and butter and another 15 for the drinks..

The halibut caught my eye immediately; I'm a sucker for a perfectly prepared piece of halibut or a great pork chop, and since my partner doesn't eat meat it made for an easy share. Earlier in the day, a couple of women at our hotel bar mentioned the chef had trained at Jean-Georges in Manhattan, which only added to our anticipation. It wasn't until we got back to the hotel after dinner and did a little reading that we learned just how decorated Harary really is; his Restaurant Nicholas held Zagat's top spot in New Jersey for 15 consecutive years and earned a 4-star New York Times review. That context made our middling meal sting just a little more. We started with the bread service and the beet salad. The bread itself was baked beautifully, but the butter and ricotta accompanying it were completely flavorless. My partner and I are not salt-at-the-table people; we trust that seasoning happened in the kitchen. This was the first time in recent memory that we actually reached for the salt shaker. Not a great sign. The beet salad should have been a showstopper. Beets, when done right, can carry an entire dish on their own. Instead, they were buried under an avalanche of arugula. Don't get me wrong, arugula is one of my favorite greens; that peppery bite and beautiful texture are hard to beat, but here it was doing all the heavy lifting while the beets sat underneath doing nothing. We'd eaten most of the salad before we even noticed the sunflower seeds and a smear of mascarpone hiding on the bottom of the bowl. That mascarpone, gently flaked on top with the seeds scattered over it to catch in the folds, could have made this dish genuinely memorable. The gorgeous candy-striped radishes were a lovely visual touch, but they were raw, undressed slices with no seasoning, no acid, no pickling. Beautiful to look at; an afterthought to eat. The whole salad felt that way, honestly. For our main, we shared the Panko Crusted Halibut with bok choy and smoked shallot velouté. The sauce was the star; the smoke level was dialed in perfectly, present in all the right ways without overpowering everything else. The wild mushrooms were lovely, but the dish needed something to break up the texture. The bok choy brought good flavor, but it mirrored the mushrooms so closely that each bite started to blur together. Something crispy, something sharp, would have elevated the whole thing considerably. The fish itself was cooked well; firm, flakey, and not dried out. The panko crust was gorgeous to look at but could have been crispier. Based on its beautiful golden color, it looked like it had more crunch than it actually delivered. The cocktails were a genuine highlight. An old fashioned made with 1792 and a Black Manhattan, both well-crafted and the clearest bright spots of the evening. The three people behind the bar were another highlight. Expedient, attentive, never rushing anyone, and willing to make easy conversation without being intrusive. That is exactly what you want from people working a good bar. The ambiance, though, was confusing. The space seemed to pull in two directions at once; it wanted to feel upscale but also like a sports bar, and it never fully committed to either. Three small TVs tucked into the corners would have been fine. The oversized screen mounted prominently on the wall was intrusive and clashed hard with any sense of elevated dining. The music was classic rock, which I enjoy, but it read as wrong for the room and was a tad too loud. The music for this type of setting should be something to just add some ambiance, not for people to shout-sing too like you've had too many beers at a dive karaoke bar, which I love by the way, this was just not that kind of place. Those same women from the hotel bar had also warned us it could get loud and obnoxious in there. We figured we'd take our chances. We probably should have listened. With the legacy behind this place, the potential is clearly there. The bar staff gets it. Now the kitchen and the room just need to catch up.
