What has happened to this restaurant? On February 19, we were really looking forward to a girlfriends' luncheon and were so happy to see one another. Unfortunately, from the moment we walked in, the experience felt off. The hostess was noticeably rude and dismissive, coming across as aloof and unnecessarily sharp, which made us feel unwelcome from the start, as though she were doing us a favor by seating us. After being seated, our coffee arrived lukewarm, and the carafe did not keep it warm. When I asked the waitress if she could refresh it, she told me she would need to charge for another coffee, though she offered to heat it in the microwave. That was disappointing. Granted, we were there about two hours, but the wait staff was a bit rude, too. The food was okay, nothing special. We truly miss the previous atmosphere and business model. I'm not sure what direction the restaurant is trying to take now, but it no longer feels warm, friendly, or hospitable. read more

Weekend brunch for the win! This is an adorable BYO spot that you'll drive right past if you don't know it's there. Absolutely beautiful inside with a dining room on one side and ample space for a larger private gathering on the other. Food is delicious and Dan was a wonderful server - making good recommendations and helping us figure out what to order. We ordered a few different dishes and shared. The gnocchi with vodka sauce was my favorite. Order the carrot cake scone for dessert - you won't be disappointed! read more

I had a very pleasant experience at Apple Street Kitchen! The restaurant is beautifully renovated and very large with plenty of seating available. We came on a weekend for lunch and didn't need a reservation. The menu was a little small, but everything was very fresh and they had 3 daily specials. It is definitely on the pricier side, but I think the quality is what you pay for here. Overall I look forward to coming back when they have a dinner menu to try! read more

To be honest, the experience left much to be desired. We sampled the tuna entrée and the double cheeseburger, finishing with an apple pie topped with vanilla bean cream. While the tuna was undeniably fresh, the portion was disappointingly modest for what's billed as a main dish. The burger, though hearty, lacked any memorable character, no farm-to-table flair, no flavor that lingered beyond the ordinary. The apple pie followed suit: pleasant enough, but far from exceptional. And one can't help but question the logic of an expansive dessert menu that omits a single chocolate option, a serious oversight for any establishment hoping to impress dessert lovers. read more

Very cute little cafe, great for a lunch date. They have a counter you can order baked goods and seating with waitress service. My friend and I couldn't choose, there were so many good options on the menu. So we split too different sandwiches. BOTH WERE DELICIOUS! I am still dreaming about the side of couscous salad that came with both. I highly recommend the food here. We ordered all sorts of treats including a chocolate chip cookie, blonde brownie made with almond flour (GF!), raspberry shortbread and carrot cake. All were REALLY GOOD. **GF friends! They have GF bakery options! I believe there options change with the seasons and what's available locally. They had a GF cake and brownie option (almond flour). But be aware if you have an allergy (see below). My only disappointment was that they were not allergy conscious (this the 4/5 stars). I specifically asked about GF options. After we ordered our baked goods they asked us to take a seat while they packaged the treats we ordered, and they would bring it over to us. I didn't realize till I got home that the GF brownie was placed in the same box and touching a non-GF cookie. Fantastic!!! The breakfast scone was amazing; it came with fresh butter and delicious jam. I got eggs with rye roast, potatoes, and fruit. The fruit was totally fresh tasting. The eggs were excellent. The potatoes were whole potatoes- this is such a breath of fresh air compared to the shredded (possibly frozen) potatoes you get at most places. I tried to order a 100 gift card via email, phone, many times. Left messages, phone messages etc. as my sister and family live in Tinton. I finally did a phone card order. It was to be mailed. My sister never received. There was no issue w my card. Again, after calling and FINALLY getting someone they said the manager would call me. NOT. I was emailed that the mail was an issue. I used Apple Street for my wedding at the Fort Hancock Chapel at Sandy Hook and they did an AMAZING JOB! Sara, their event coordinator acted as the maitre'd for my wedding day and was beyond helpful the entire time. Chef Casey was at my tasting, so I was able to meet the chef cooking all of my food! There was a coastal flood advisory the day of my wedding and Apple Street's team handled the terrible weather with such a good attitude, and Sara never left my side, always getting my husband and I food and drinks. My guests were raving about the food, and about 2 weeks after the wedding, I'm still getting texts from guests telling me they couldn't stop thinking about the food. I was so, so pleased with their food quality, presentation, and the price was also cheaper than most for a wedding with 115 guests, and I'm so happy I went with them. read more

Small but WOW... The restaurant itself gives me a whimsical feel at first glance. The swirling silverware to the very fun entrance doors it's definitely very inviting. The staff are friendly and fast. They offer both a regular menu, specialty, and kids (recent addition). I ordered the shrimp tostada (specialty menu) and it did not disappoint. Every bite was a flavor burst in my mouth. The shrimp was juicy yet crispy. The tostada was paper thin yet crunchy and held up to the fresh veggies and sauce on top. Each bite made you wanting more. Every chew led into a new and different flavor. It's was like eating a magic trick and I couldn't get enough of it. Coffee French Press (single) was strong and plenty for two. Option of milk or cream with plenty of sugar from stevia, raw organic.... Their produce was ridiculously fresh; I don't know who their supplier is but Just WOW. Oh. My. God. I had to drop my cat off at the vet up the road for a procedure, so we were looking for a local breakfast place and this popped up. Amazing. Delicious. A revelation. Prices are on the higher side of average, but the food is anything but average. We had the French toast with persimmon jam and marscapone, and eggs over easy with breakfast potatoes and sourdough toast. We got sides of bacon and chicken sausage. To say we enjoyed the meal is the understatement of the century. Everything was perfectly cooked, with touches of fresh herbs. The bacon was drizzled with just a touch of maple syrup. The coffee...oh the coffee. Ground and French presses to order. It was AMAZING. Even more importantly, the wait staff were phenomenal. Friendly, personable, and answered my many questions about the restaurant and the sources of food. We will DEFINITELY be returning. And we live 30 minutes away. If you are in the area you absolutely must go here. Stopped in for lunch during restaurant week. All the ingredients are organic. Also, they have a large garden adjoining the restaurant where they grow herbs and vegetables during the season. I had the soup and salad combo. Split pea soup and a house salad. This place is a gem! The food was superb, the service was fantastic, the pastry section was plentiful and the space itself was impressive! I had the country grilled cheese, which I highly recommend. It was on a... (wait for it) walnut raisin bread, which completely heightened the richness of the carmelized onions. My mouth was taken on a culinary joyride! We also had their seasonal soup flight, and I can't stop thinking of the butternut squash (my fav of the flight), but they were all well executed. Yesterday I enjoyed what was perhaps THE most delicious sandwich ever. No exaggeration. The beautiful pasta salad that looked like a Cezanne-on-a-plate was overwhelmed the the insanely delicious Josephine (eggplant) 'sandwich.' I've never felt compelled to write a food review, good or bad. My lunch friend said her burger was fantastic, her favorite. But as a vegetarian, I could care less. My Occupational therapist recommended this place. We are always looking for new breakfast places and I really wanted this place to be good. I rarely give negative reviews and I hope this post will help this establishment improve their business for future customers. We visited Friday morning 5/27 around 10am. The place was mostly empty with maybe 5 other tables occupied total. There is outside seating. They have a bakery. I think a problem could be staffing, as I only saw our waitress, and she had a lot of ground to cover as the business is deceptively larger than you might think. It appears they only have French press coffee, I'm not a huge fan, as it's a darker roast then I prefer. It has a good flavor, the issue is it was cold very quickly. Also they do not have traditional sweeteners, not a big deal. My wife ordered her usual, eggs and bacon. The bacon is a side. The homemade bacon is good, however they do not warn you that they put maple syrup on it which my wife cannot have, and doesn't like anyway. Her eggs over easy came too hard and where butter drenched. She told me they tasted funny, I tried it, I said that's butter. Four small pieces of deep fried potato, I like the taste, but too much oil for my wife. One slice of multi grain toast, I thought the taste was good. My wife likes her Diet Coke, they only carry Boylan's, as many niche places do. So 2 eggs, side of bacon(maple syrup splashed), four half dollar sized pieces of potato, 1 slice of toast, $22. There were 4 slices of bacon though, $8 for the side. I usually do not mention prices, but people need to know what they're getting into. This place doesn't really do off the menu items, like build your own omelettes, etc. so instead of the omelette du jour I opted for the special of the day, the southwest bowl. It was ok, 1 scrambled egg on top, avocado chunks, the chorizo was more like a chili over potatoes, heavy on the cooked down red pepper slivers. No piece of toast. They do like to top things with flowers, which I assume are edible. The bakery items looked delicious and are baked on site. I was still hungry and decided to try a glazed scone and banana chocolate chip muffin. I ate these items at home for "lunch." I've been to Ireland and London many times so unfortunately the scone didn't meet my standards, but as a banana bread baker myself, I loved the muffin, it had a true banana texture and flavor, unlike store bought banana muffins. So the total without tip was $58. If you want to sit outside near the little farm, perhaps prefer a veggie oriented breakfast, this place may be to your liking.
