We came adjuster a time and we were welcomed in so warmly! There were jukeboxes on every table ! What a surprise and thrill to see these old music boxes! I ordered a Mediterranean omelette and it came with hashbrowns . It was cooked to perfection and was so delicious. I loved it and I would definitely come back and get the same thing. My coffee was hot and orange juice tasted very fresh and had a delightful amount of pulp ! It's a very adorable refurbished, classic looking diner. Absolutely wonderful.! The staff was so nice and hard-working and friendly and professional!! I really loved it. I can't wait to come back.

I had never realized that you could rent this place for a birthday or any sort of celebration. Recently, I attended my friend's birthday party here. The staff was wonderful, serving various beverages like hot or iced coffee, along with trays of freshly prepared food. Most importantly, they were very accommodating to the hosts, who were trying to organize their child's birthday party. The food was good, and we were even treated to their famous pancakes. The staff's attentiveness and the delicious food undoubtedly made the birthday party even more enjoyable.

Very delicious, cozy diner feel with slightly more elevated (and a lil pricier than your typical diner) menu. I love their breakfast for a night before debrief. You will never feel rushed, ther servers are so kind and helpful if you're not sure what you want. Come try!

Recommended by locals and very hyped place to eat but it didn't live up to the expectations. They have multiple locations so thinking it had to be consistent. But overpriced and did not live up to my brunch expectations. Ambiance was a diner experience with gourmet size portions. Excited to try the crab hash but questionable portions of crab cake to be overpowered by potatoes and veggie peppers. Also the red velvet pancake was so flat and tasteless. The best item I did enjoy was the full of flavor and filled with coconut nuts and carrot was carrot cake pancakes and maple bacon. Good but not to point I would come back. Service felt rushed because felt they were understaffed for busy Saturday morning.

No matter, which location, Toast always delivers on quality and good food. Their coffee is excellent. I had the corned beef hash and eggs. The hash is homemade and simply delicious. An overall good stop for breakfast or lunch.

We had breakfast and the food was delicious! Super cute inside and the menu had lots of choices like a flight of pancakes(blueberry, lemon poppyseed, red velvet carrot cake) and there were other choices. Our server Catherine was super nice and very attentive! Definitely recommend!

A diner so nice, we had to do it twice. We were in town for a Wedding so we came here on the morning of the Wedding for Breakfast & again the day after for Breakfast again. Actually walked into another location the next day, & in that moment decided we'd rather come back here. The breakfast was Amazing all around. No complaints in our party of 4. It has a retro diner style interior, & metered street parking. Food: Crab Hash w/Over Easy Eggs- A+ Avocado Toast- B Eggs Benedict- A Belgian Waffle- A+* Maple Bacon (no picture)- A++ Coffee- B Espresso- C Arnold Palmer- B+ * The Belgian Waffle had the upgraded "Pure Maple Syrup," which they charge you extra for. The house syrup wasn't very sweet at all, so skip it & pay the dollar & change for the upgrade.

A late post..... We had been here for early breakfast after enjoying the sunrise on the beach. Coffee was OK. Expected it to be strong. When we asked for something strong, they said it was strongest they had. Omlet dishes were OK. I tried tofu scramble. It was numeric tofu scramble.....but the numeric was just too overpowering!!! Indians cook with turmeric, so when I say it was overwhelming, it means the chef added twice the amount intended. We sat in their outdoor patio area. Service was OK as well. It was a decent experience overall, but nothing that will want me to come back here again.

This was my second time at Toast in Red Bank. I truly love this location. It is so cute and feels like you are walking back in time to an old-school diner. When I got there, it was a Saturday morning so there was a bit of a wait and they do not take reservations. Not a problem, they do take your number and text you when your table is ready, which gives you a chance to walk around. I ordered a french toast latte, and the brie and bacon omelette. The latte tasted exactly like french toast and the coffee was strong which is what I needed - I loved it. The omelette was also delicious. For as packed as they were, service was super quick. I will definitely be back.

***4 1/2 stars*** I'm a huge fan of Toast in Montclair; it's very close to where I live and I usually have a perfect or near-perfect experience every time I go. Excellent atmosphere - kind of a bustling ski lodge vibe - and the only downside is that you usually have to wait outside for a little while with a group of people who look like they just came from an Arctic Monkeys concert (I don't THINK any of the locations take reservations, but I could be mistaken. It would be nice if they did, regardless). I don't think this Red Bank location is quite as top-notch as its Montclair sibling, but it's still solidly above average. I came here with my Millennial Chum on Labor Day (thank you for being open). We were told that there would be roughly a 25-30 minute wait, and that turned out to be pretty accurate. Unlike the Montclair location, this Toast resides in what clearly used to be a building for a classic diner. As a result, it definitely doesn't have as much space to work with but it's still pretty unique. They also have a small outdoor picnic table seating area to help with overflow, which is needed - this is always a popular spot, whether you're in North Jersey or down the shore. I have an eternal dilemma when it comes to breakfast/brunch - whether to go sweet or savory. Never is that more of an issue than at Toast, which has one of the greatest breakfast entrees known to man, the Red Velvet Pancakes, a scrumptious concoction that comes with this sweet cream cheese spread and is probably a top two or three all-time pancake for me. I always get it, and it's always great - moist but not too soft/limp, flavorful but not overwhelming on the palate. But I still want more, so I always get two breakfasts, adding on the two eggs any style, with home fries and toast. I don't mind the mild looks of judgment from my dining companions - always worth it. The food was very good this time around (not surprisingly). The home fries are crisp but not overcooked, the scrambled eggs are the right consistency with the perfect balance - not too dry or wet - and the pre-buttered toast hits the spot. I was pleasantly stuffed and didn't need to eat for the rest of the day, so it was also efficient caloric consumption. The only issues we encountered were spotty service - our drinks came a minute or two after the food, but our entrees were there probably within 10 minutes, so it wasn't too big of a problem - and some basic cleanliness/maintenance issues. The Millennial Chum's side of the table was sticky, and when I went to use the restroom, there literally wasn't a doorknob, which must have fallen off or something. I've never seen that before - I literally had to delicately grip the edge of the door with my fingernails to get it open. But it seemed to be a very recent and short-lived problem, as my chum reported no issues on her subsequent visit. Very odd though. NJ is full of diners and more specifically brunch options. Toast sets itself apart from a lot of the competition with a unique menu and very consistent high quality output. As long as you can safely get in and out of the bathroom, this mini chain remains a strong recommendation regardless of location.

This place is so cute! Located right in the middle of Red Bank, it has a cute retro vibe and the staff were awesome. I got the Tofu Scramble and it was SO GOOD! Very great options and the food came quick. I definitely recommend stopping for a nice brunch in Red Bank.

Attentive Service who know the menu and ingredients as well as the drink specials and beers. The wine list is well rounded and concentrated to a carefully selected list. The beer offerings however are limited and they only offered one IPA Craft option. Could use more attention here. Servers could have a little more enthusiasm as some of ours were a bit sedate. Dinners were a tad delayed coming out, but nothing horrible. The Menu was assembled well and had some interesting options for starters which we did not partake in; the Raw Bar oysters are very fresh and cleaned well. Our salad we shared was good and could have been shared by 3-4 people as it was plentiful and $23, which was on par for most of the starter menu. The Strip Steak is prepared with a minimalist approach allowing the natural flavor of the beef to shine. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and with a beautiful aged nuttiness. A simple Rosemary sprig on top and you have a delicious meal. The Crispy Halibut was another dish that was well worth it. Delicately cooked fish in a beautiful sauce accompanied by some Bok Choy and Mushroom sauté. Impressive. Ending with Dessert, the S'mores Skillet rounded everything out. Overall easily could be 5 stars but subtle things subtracted just enough to land at a 4. Nonetheless; highly recommended!

We chose Nicholas Barrel & Roost based on the menu and an almost 4 star rating on Yelp with over…read more500 reviews. The halibut caught my eye immediately; I'm a sucker for a perfectly prepared piece of halibut or a great pork chop, and since my partner doesn't eat meat it made for an easy share. Earlier in the day, a couple of women at our hotel bar mentioned the chef had trained at Jean-Georges in Manhattan, which only added to our anticipation. It wasn't until we got back to the hotel after dinner and did a little reading that we learned just how decorated Harary really is; his Restaurant Nicholas held Zagat's top spot in New Jersey for 15 consecutive years and earned a 4-star New York Times review. That context made our middling meal sting just a little more. We started with the bread service and the beet salad. The bread itself was baked beautifully, but the butter and ricotta accompanying it were completely flavorless. My partner and I are not salt-at-the-table people; we trust that seasoning happened in the kitchen. This was the first time in recent memory that we actually reached for the salt shaker. Not a great sign. The beet salad should have been a showstopper. Beets, when done right, can carry an entire dish on their own. Instead, they were buried under an avalanche of arugula. Don't get me wrong, arugula is one of my favorite greens; that peppery bite and beautiful texture are hard to beat, but here it was doing all the heavy lifting while the beets sat underneath doing nothing. We'd eaten most of the salad before we even noticed the sunflower seeds and a smear of mascarpone hiding on the bottom of the bowl. That mascarpone, gently flaked on top with the seeds scattered over it to catch in the folds, could have made this dish genuinely memorable. The gorgeous candy-striped radishes were a lovely visual touch, but they were raw, undressed slices with no seasoning, no acid, no pickling. Beautiful to look at; an afterthought to eat. The whole salad felt that way, honestly. For our main, we shared the Panko Crusted Halibut with bok choy and smoked shallot velouté. The sauce was the star; the smoke level was dialed in perfectly, present in all the right ways without overpowering everything else. The wild mushrooms were lovely, but the dish needed something to break up the texture. The bok choy brought good flavor, but it mirrored the mushrooms so closely that each bite started to blur together. Something crispy, something sharp, would have elevated the whole thing considerably. The fish itself was cooked well; firm, flakey, and not dried out. The panko crust was gorgeous to look at but could have been crispier. Based on its beautiful golden color, it looked like it had more crunch than it actually delivered. The cocktails were a genuine highlight. An old fashioned made with 1792 and a Black Manhattan, both well-crafted and the clearest bright spots of the evening. The three people behind the bar were another highlight. Expedient, attentive, never rushing anyone, and willing to make easy conversation without being intrusive. That is exactly what you want from people working a good bar. The ambiance, though, was confusing. The space seemed to pull in two directions at once; it wanted to feel upscale but also like a sports bar, and it never fully committed to either. Three small TVs tucked into the corners would have been fine. The oversized screen mounted prominently on the wall was intrusive and clashed hard with any sense of elevated dining. The music was classic rock, which I enjoy, but it read as wrong for the room and was a tad too loud. The music for this type of setting should be something to just add some ambiance, not for people to shout-sing too like you've had too many beers at a dive karaoke bar, which I love by the way, this was just not that kind of place. Those same women from the hotel bar had also warned us it could get loud and obnoxious in there. We figured we'd take our chances. We probably should have listened. With the legacy behind this place, the potential is clearly there. The bar staff gets it. Now the kitchen and the room just need to catch up.
