So i'm one of those guys who reads reviews but never writes them. But when I have a really good experience, sometimes I feel compelled. Last night my family & I popped in for dinner at Luisa's after taking the kids to Climb Zone in Howell. Sal, the owner, took care of us & could not have been nicer. Kids had pizza & fried calamari which were both very good, but he made my wife & I grilled octupus & a sea bass that were both literally incredible. Very fresh, cooked perfectly and very reasonably priced. This place is very unassuming from the outside, but inside you get an owner who takes pride in the business, in the ingredients he uses and in the way he prepares his food. Highly reccomend and will absolutely go out of our way to come back to this place. read more

Being that' I'm new to this area and I've been craving buffalo chicken pizza for awhile , I saw the reviews were okay here but I think looks were deceiving. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot , we can see through the windows and so I'm sitting in the car , none of the employees have their masks on, the guy is eating behind the counter and licking his fingers , next to another guy who is making a pizza ,which is such a turn off for me , I didn't even want to get my food but because I had ordered it online it was already paid. Therefore sanitary I would give that a 0 since that's a big Disgust in the food industry , at least eat on the side not in the kitchen area where food is being prepared. When I went to eat the pizza my blue cheese that I got in the side was hot and gross from sitting on top of the pizza oven but whatever I wasn't gonna stress over that as my main concern was my pizza didn't even look fully cooked as the cheese wasn't fully melted in the center but yet the crust was hard. As for the flavor it could of tasted better , it tasted kinda blan for a buffalo chicken pizza, I was super disappointed especially since I've been looking forward to it for some time now. Especially since it costed $21 which is a lot of money for a pizza. I will not recommend coming here for any specialty pizza that's for sure. I would not come back to disappointing :/ read more

Let's take this by each item I ordered. 1. Pizza - actually would have given it 3 ***'s if I'd just ordered that. Not the best, not the worse, just good, though. Soft crust, plenty of cheese, good sauce, but pretty much standard fare for any pizza joint. 2. Calamari - $15.00 bucks for "boxed" calamari. Sure, they did go that extra mile to give us just the body (we don't like the tentacles) and gave us a double order of sauce, but, the calamari tasted of used oil and was over fried. 3. Turkey wrap (with fries). Yeah, about seven or eight fries. I usually get wraps from Destino's with the box bulging with fries. Not happy. Overall - Not goingt to be ordering from them any time soon and those prices are making it so most people will join me in my boycott. Too bad, this place used to be pretty good. read more

I used to go here years ago and stopped after the previous owner basically went downhill. The new owners are doing a fantastic job and putting out some very tasty dishes. Their meat sauce is loaded with meat unlike most places that basically add none. Their pizza is delicious and has a slightly sweet taste to the sauce (as it should be) and is cooked just right. Thin crust and cooked well. Mussels are great (I had the hot) with again, a delicious sauce and dipped bread. So far, that's basically what we have had and based on what the new owner is putting out, I can assume the other dishes are excellent too. This place will remain the hit of the town and will continue to grow so long as they NEVER CHANGE. No matter what, keep up your quality through good weeks and bad. The old owner started skimping and killed her business. Don't make the same mistake. Most of the pizza joints in Jackson are hideous, dishing out garbage food 'anyone' can make better at home. But, no this place. So far, the food is perfect and I trully hope they keep it that way NO MATTER WHAT. PS: The denigrating review left by Lily J. is obviously a competitor trying to hurt this new business. The male and female staff are very friendly and obviously, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the place. So, take fake "Lily J." with a grain of salt. read more

I knew the 4.5 star rating is probably deceiving since this is the suburbs and you can never trust the ratings in the burbs. There are 2 reasons for this... 1.) People are too nice and don't gibe the honest review 2.) they arent exposed to the best pizza so their perception of good is skewed. Nevertheless, I ordered both the square and the regular pizza pie. I was holding out hope but my worse fears were realized. It is below average pizza. The square slice is better than the regular but not by much. The regular has a saltiness to it which is typical from average pizza. The square is doughy and a little better but it is not as good as Brooklyn square. I hate to do this to the place but I can only be honest since the Yelp nation counts on me to give a fair review. This is more of a 2.5 star place. We were told by one place that they were short-staffed and couldn't help us (they were not). This place took us in with open arms and Sal and Fernando cooked us a DYNAMITE family style meal. I really enjoy the food from here, they deliver fast, its hot and fresh tasting, the delivery crew has always been polite. Can't say much about eating in since all the orders have been delivery. Prices are average and customer service with call in's for delivery are always polite- speedy--- but polite. Unreal food, this place has so much more to offer than pizza!!! We had seafood platter to start (clams casino, calamari, and bacon wrapped shrimp), then an amazing bread with broccoli rabe and sausage on top. Every single course served to us was absolutely incredible. I had previously given these guys a near perfect review. Then Covid hit. I went in for a pie, and no one was wearing masks. A customer complained and the owner insisted it wasn't necessary because no one was sick. He looked at me for support, but misjudged. I told him to put on a mask, and he told me they don't work. Having eaten the "finest" pizza in manhattan and Brooklyn, I never thought I would be so pleased with pizza in Jackson NJ. I recently moved to the neighboring town and everyone kept saying how I had to try a few of the local pizza joints so I did. A friend once told me the best way to know if a pizza joint is good or not, since you can't really eat everything on the menu in one sitting, is to order a Grandma's slice. It's the Pizza of choice for OG's because unlike everything else the emphasis is on the quantity and type of sauce, as well as the texture of the crust, to make a strong impression. They say you have to eat slowly in order to really enjoy and savor the food. The crispyness of the crust mixed with just the right amount of tomato sauce caused me to finish my slice before I got to my place which is three minutes away. The only regret I have is that I didn't get another slice. Luisa's makes the other local pizza places look like Domino's. read more

Luisa's is a welcome newcomer to the Jackson dining scene. More than pizza, their kitchen is consistently turning out an impressive array of daily specials, authentic regional Italian dishes, typically in the Neapolitan/Campanian tradition. It's a shame table-space constraints limit their potential as a dining-in destination, which I think puts them at a bit of a competirive disadvantage with Brooklyn Square, Mona Lisa etc., but the quality of their food is as least as good, and often better, than anyplace else in town. read more

This is one of the beat Italian restaurants in the Jackson area. The food is delicious and the staff is usually pleasant. There appetizer of artichoke franchises is to die for!
