my girl friends and I went to maggies on a Saturday, our experience was one of the worst bar experiences we've ever had, the bartender treated us like we were a burden for wanting drinks at 830 on a saturday. there was a gentleman there who approached us and asked us to please give maggies another chance and to come see him on st pattys day, we went and the bar was packed, however the bartender absolutely exceeded our expectations and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, our friend was embarrassed to do keroke alone so the bartender offered to do it with her, you don't find bartenders that go above any beyond like that often. now well be calling ahead and will only be going if Robert's there. This was my first time eating outside for Maggie's. I visited this location many times throughout the years and always enjoyed the crowd. You can sit and they approach you at the table. I ordered a bacon Gouda burger. Bread is top quality. Meat was fresh. I didn't get much flavor. Ketchup always solves that. The homemade chips were fine. Nothing stood out. Service was tough to get a check. I had to approach the bar or I never get it. I do enjoy Maggie's and on a nice day, I love to sit outside and enjoy a beer and burger. Went here the other night for the first time to maggie's underground. There was a $15 cover at the door with security. Drinks were fine and pretty cheap, bartenders friendly and good. I can't tell you how many times I've been here. Now understand, there are three parts to this place located at the Lakewood Golf Club. 1) Indoor bar & restaurant 2) Maggie's Underground 3) Outdoor bar weather permitting. I have been to the indoor bar and restaurant in the past. It was very good but nothing stood out as per food. The underground is more of a hideout and hasn't changed that much. Board & "mind" games are played down there. I opted for the outside bar and spoke to Mary Kay while having a much-deserved brew. She has been here a few. Smoking is permitted outside of which I tolerated. I did not have a meal here but the food is reasonably priced, and looked decent while I walked by tables. Overall **** Don't let the Country Club address fool you, Maggie's is a good, down home bar that was rowdy if not a little raunchy with very good food and a whole lot of fun. Setting **** Located inside the Lakewood Country Club felt really strange, there is an inside bar that shares space with a banquet hall but outside is where we spent our evening. The outside area is a large patio with plenty of tables, corn hole, couches but it is all about the huge, covered, square bar. The crowd was certainly not what you would expect from a Country Club setting as it was mostly middle aged, sleeveless shirt wearing, multi tattooed people drinking hard, even the dogs were enjoying themselves. A pair of guitar playing musicians started up around 6:00 and they were pretty good but they could have played livelier music and taken less breaks. By the time we left around 7:00 a much younger crowd was moving in. Service **** Friday at 5:30 on a perfect summer evening we were able to grab the last two available stools as the place was packed already and filling up fast. The lone bartender, Kristin, was extremely pleasant but overwhelmed and getting drinks or menus was a slowish process. By about 6:00 the three evening shift bartenders arrived so things moved a little faster but they couldn't match Kristin's friendly demeanor. Food **** I was very hungry and didn't peruse the menu all that much as my eyes stopped dead at what they call their "WOW" Burger. I figured anything you call that on your menu better be good so I needed to try it. The Wow Burger is 12 ounces of beef which seems ridiculous but they also offer a smaller version as well. The burger is actually separate four ounce patties so the smaller one is two patties and the larger is three. The two patty burger was more than enough, served on an onion roll and I added fries and it was delicious. We did start with an order of wings which can be had multiple different ways, we tried the Thai Chili which were excellent but didn't need to be swimming in a pool of the sauce. I have to add that much to my wife's delight they serve Tito's and Crystal Lite on tap! Value ***** Now I'm not sure if we had Happy Hour pricing or not but the state of inebriation amongst the patrons makes more sense when a "Double" Tito's and Crystal Lite was $7.75 and a "Double" Sapphire and Tonic was $9.75. Major credit to their bartender, Chelsea, for encouraging the new owners to make the space dog friendly. She was also super nice and gave Brie a rum bucket of water! You may sit at the bar or the patio area with your pup and order from an extensive menu that includes sushi and local beers. Located on the property of Lakewood Country Club, it is a very pretty setting and you meet a lot of friendly golfers waiting to tee off. Brie made friends with Garrett and we had an interesting conversation about which mammals sweat. It was more thought inducing than we expected. :) We had a great time! The tiki bar is open through at least October or when the taps lines start to freeze. read more

I have gone now for probably 8 or 10 times to visit my performer friends Henry and Mike (The Professionals?) and from the staff to the environment I got a solid impression. I am pretty picky but the food was excellent, the staff is amiable, the bartenders are always friendly, and as the music went outdoors for the summer you got a better feel as you got the weather, good music, plus there's a pool shooting area downstairs, and a bar inside, and overall it's a nice fun spot that's a good escape from the quiet region that is Lakewood/Jackson/Freehold. They also have solid food specials each day, good burgers and appetizers. I liked the nacho supreme. The only thing keeping them from 5 stars, when i asked for a cup of water it tasted like bubble gum, which isn't *BAD*, it just didn't actually taste like water. read more

We go here probably 5 out of the 7 days of the week and are never disappointed. They staff and bartenders are always ready to serve you, no matter what time you arrive. The drinks are more than what you pay for and the food is actually really great for just bar food. Probably the top five best wings I've ever had. The sushi and shrimp tempura is to die for! Would definitely recommend to anyone around the area for a fun night for drinks or a nice dinner with friends. read more

I stopped by for drinks and apps a few weeks ago. Hadn't been here since before the pandemic. Sat outside at the tiki bar as I usually do. Not sure if the basement bar (I think they call it the "Downtown sports bar and grill") is open anymore as it's been several years since I've been down there. There is a slightly nicer bar inside upstairs called the Cosmopolitan bar and lounge which I also used to like but haven't been to in a while. There are also a bunch of tables outside. My guest and I ordered drinks. I had a few beers and a few shots and we ordered the pot stickers and the steak tidbits. The potstickers were pretty good and the steak tidbits were just ok. The garlic bread was a kinda soggy and the steak was flavorful but chewy. There was only one bartender so service was sluggish but I get the impression she was doing her best. There was music playing but the tv's weren't on. The noise volume was moderate for it not being that crowded. It's dimly lit and I got a few mosquito bites. This place is local for me and probably the best choice in bars in the immediate area. read more

We were invited to a private party in the back of the outdoor area. The setup was well executed, with food served on a middle island, beer set up in self serve pitchers, and wine by the glass. We were a bit concerned about being too hot, but once the sun settled below the tree line it was fairly comfortable. Servers were friendly and kept the food table well stocked with a variety of sushi and pizza. Both were really good as was the calamari. The outdoor bar had plenty of people enjoying the live band. The upstairs martini bar looked like a cool place to spend an evening, and the downstairs sports bar had plenty of tvs to catch the game of choice. I was here for a wedding and it was really nice venue. The ceremony was outside and the area was very plain, in a good way. The wedding couple was in front of a small gazebo and we stood close by to watch. For the reception we had a spacious hall and free reign of the adjoining rooms. There was an open bar with 3 beers on draft. No crazy selections, but there is something for everyone. For dinner I firmly recommend the prime rib. Definitely the best dish they made. Everything was good, but the chicken was dry. Desserts were pretty good too. The staff were really helpful and most importantly kept the bride happy. Rule #1 of weddings! If you are looking at the Lakewood Country Club as a wedding venue, rest assured you will be well taken care of. read more

Rating is based on food (not nightclub). This might be my new favorite local spot. Took my wife there for Sushi. Very fresh and good quality specialty rolls. I haven't been able to find great wings in the Jackson/ Howell / Freehold since I moved here a year ago. Tried the wings out today and WOW!! Had their dry rub, hot wings and Asian style. In my opinion - easily the best wings in the area (not close). Cant really comment on service but will update when I try it out. read more

Maggie's is a favorite watering hole for the predominately Anglo residents of Jackson NJ.{Jackass Flats to the locals} Attached to the fading and threadbare Lakewood Country Club and it's budget banquet hall , Maggie's outdoor "Tiki Bar"is a very busy outdoor patio that sees the bulk of the bar business in the warmer months and a basement bar/game room/nightclub where the serious drinkers congregate to get quietly inebriated far away for the din and bustle of the Tiki bar. The usual bar specials are offered as the basement caters to the sporting set with TV monitors featuring all the sports channels.Table,video.foosball,ping pong games are offered although rarely used. Menu is as you would expect with the usual bar offerings with even a decent sushi selection but nothing special here folks so just move along.... Maggie's is one exceedingly depressing place. The majority of it's patrons all appear to be getting in their last "Whoops,Hollas and Licks" before the inevitable happens. Walk up to the door like any normal restaurant, empty and no one around to help. Walk around by tiki and again no one. Do they want business or not? I wish I could give this place negative stars! The service was terrible. We had to go and find our waitress a number of times because she was MIA all night. We asked for blue cheese with our wings, and ended up getting charged $1.50 for the blue cheese. Where in this country do you get charged for blue cheese with wings??? I asked the manager about it and he was extremely rude! We told him that we were never told of the extra charge and that we didn't order three of them. He was again rude, and is obviously a poor business person. We will never go to this place again and I would suggest that you do not either. We had the wings (tasted like Petes red hot) and sushi, I hope I don't get sick tomorrow. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but this establishment. It needs much better management. . He expected us to reach for and pass along food for the table while he positioned himself in one place. We were there last night and let me tell you, what great service and food! We were sat at a newly sanitized table and given disposable cutlery and napkins. Our waitress was amazing, super attentive and the owner came by a couple of times to make sure we were all good. We had the steak tips, nachos, bang bang shrimp and wings for apps - all were excellent. For dinner we all shared sushi and that was great as well.
