Pasta with chicken and bread and herb butter.

Good service but a bit expensive for the value. €3,95 for a ciabatta bread and a pat of butter!!! The food was unfortunately quite bland. With the bread, the butter comes sitting on a basil leaf. Hint to restaurant: put the basil in the sauce and it'll make it taste so much better! The pasta was cooked well, al dente. The chicken was cooked fine but a somewhat meager amount for price point.

Convenient place to grab quick food in the tourist area. The staff member told me to pick a bigger table since they weren't full and then were quick to come take my order. They don't do complimentary tap water here (so you'll have to either order a bottle or just get a different drink), and the Heineken is the canned kind (not bottled). The pasta was decent and filling -- I got the tagliatelle bolognese -- but not any pasta to write home about. If there are lines everywhere else, then this is a good spot to get fed quickly. They have a few breakfast items, pancakes, pastas and pizzas, plus some selection of beers and wines. Prices were fairly reasonable but could be a bit cheaper given it felt a bit like a fast food place. All in all, solid and quick food place.

This would easily have been 5 stars if not for the very slow service. We were seated immediately, and they were very busy the entire time we were there - so I want to be sure and acknowledge that it was not bad service. It took quite a while for someone to come take our order, and then the timing of our food ended up being pretty weird, but worked out just fine for us. Garlic bread! At least 8 cloves of garlic died in the making of our appetizer and it was well worth their mighty sacrifice. Even our picky eater was impressed. The cheese pizza was perfect. A nice slightly floury thin crust straight out of the oven smothered in fresh cheese. I make homemade pizza every other Friday at our house and this was just as good if not better! It had the pizza oven flavor you just can't achieve without the real deal. Make your own pasta bowl was a big hit. We went with the cream sauce, chicken, and spinach tortellini. It did not disappoint. I considered going back the following night, but alas we only had limited time in Amsterdam, so I opted to try another place. The salad came out with the pasta (so it went garlic bread, then pizza, then pasta and salad - everything sans bread should have arrived together) and it was just greens, but they were nice and fresh and it was a good size portion. Now the salad dressing was were it was at. We quite enjoyed it! We finished it all off with some Dutch Pancakes for the table. They were piping hot, sugary, excellence on a plate!

Great service, we were hungry and cold after an hour boat/canal tour at a windy night, they were closing but they were generous enough to let us sit and give us friendly and warm service. We had pizza and pasta, they were pretty decent, I just wish the pizza had a lil more cheese, maybe because I'm used to pizzas in US Just FYI the toilets were not at the best condition.

Okay, it's called a pasta bar but I ended up having a traditional English breakfast here. Actually it was the first traditional English breakfast that I had had in a while (and ironically I didn't end up having one in England of all places). Mind you, don't expect anything fancy like you would expect in the hip cafes in the English speaking world, this is just you basic, everyday, English breakfast consisting of bacon, eggs, toast, and a dash of baked beans (and the heinz variety at that). The place itself was okay, and the meal wasn't all that pricey either. However, noting the number of places that offered English breakfasts made me suspect that a lot of English people travel over to Amsterdam - or they just like to cater for them.

I'm not sure if it's Pasta Bar or Pastabar but my receipt prints PASTABAR. Anyway, among this strip of Damrak where almost every business except a few joints like this one is aimed at tourist, because this is right off the Centraal Station. It's interesting when you walk by because inside is lively and busy. The outside has these benches like in a park or wooden version of school cafeteria benches, nice ones. On the wooden benches outside are ash trays and coasters. On each glossy wooden table inside are candles and a bottle of James Plagniol huile d'olive (olive oil), it sets the mood for the decor, which is basically paintings, I faced one with an almost nude women covered in pasta, very tastefully done. In the back is the lively kitchen, in which you'll actually see the busy chefs do their thing along with those upfront, with the waitresses not standing around, they are busy! The pizza is actually pretty good, the crust is very thin in that it is crispy on the ends and soft in the middle, the sauce tangy and sweet. The cheese is smooth, not stringy but right textured. The pies are considerably smaller than your average New York pizzeria, it's like one of those specialty pies: 8". The pies are nothing too special but very good. Pizza cost from 5 Euros on their basic limited selection to 8 plus Euros. Now they are called pasta bar, so essentially they serve pasta, it looked very good, a good sized bowl to those I dined with, but I didn't have :[ suppose someone else who has been here can elaborate on how good it is. They are also open for breakfast too.

Unfortunately this place was the worst experience on out trip to amsterdam. Our drinks took about ages to get to us, the (horrible) wine was served in a water glass (!) and the pasta really was bad too. The service was one of the worst I have experienced in a long time.

Ate here for lunch. It was good, not fantastic, but a relatively cheap option in the area that was not McDonald's. It's full of tourists. The sign out front says PASTA 4.95! but good luck with that. The pasta menu goes like this: You choose a pasta (5 euro), then you can choose add ons. Red sauce was extra. I added chicken for 2.50 euro and mozarella cheese for another 1.50. I had a Sprite which came in one of those mini glass bottles for 2.80. Then I had another Sprite for another 2.80. So it escalated to 15 euro pretty quickly. Pasta was cooked nice. A little past al dente, but fine. Not a lot of chicken, but I wasn't expecting to get much either. For lunch, it was plenty of food. My husband ate too, (a ham panini I think?) I'm attaching a pic of my chicken w/ mozz and the receipt.

Great food and very fast service and one of the best coffee I have had. Also very friendly. We will definitely return for breakfast.

I stopped by here to try some pasta and it was amazing. I love how fresh the pasta is, and the cream sauce is amazing. This restaurant is a must in Amsterdam.

Mushroom pasta was 4.5, 4 seasons pizza was 3.5. Service was quick. It's a very casual spot. Seated quickly

Great food, great service and great prices. Near the busiest streets in the city, late night food.

In the open kitchen you can see (and hear!) the chef work his magic. The bread, the starters, the fresh home made pasta's and the secondi's are all amazing. They import a lot from Italy themselves, and you can even but a bottle of olive oil here. The place is full of ferrari signs, foto's of Sophia Loren, etc. It feels like a second home. Great for a nice romantich night out or a double date, maybe not so good if you go with more then 4 people, as the place is very small. Expect to spend about 115 euro for 2 persons incl a bottle of wine. Make sure you reserve a table!

On the outside it doesn't look all too fancy. Inside, the tables are closely arranged; making getting up from your table quite a challenge at times. However the waitress was friendly, and the atmosphere cosy. I had the truffle tagliatelle, which tasted excellent, but sadly wasn't cooked properly; it stuck together. Same goes for the pasta with sausage we had. Maybe the secondi taste better, but I'm not prone to go check them out after this experience. All in all, good service, but for the pricing they might pay a little more attention to the food.
