Came here because the place we originally wanted required reservations. We decided to walk back to our hotel to rest and figure out where to go and this was a few doors down. Got lucky and were seated upstairs with a beautiful view. We had the Hangover Burger and some fries. Burger was a bit undercooked, but decent enough. Service was friendly. This was my favorite place while visiting in Amsterdam. I loved the service the staff is extremely nice and helpful and not to mention the place is so cute and cozy, when visiting you must sit upstairs. I ordered the diavola pizza and the pastel pizza, first off when they arrived they were in the shape of a heart which I thought was so cute! I asked our server if they always came out like that and he said the chef said 2 hearts for 2 beautiful girls (gestures like this make the experience so much better) anyways the diavola was my fav but both were fire!!! I also ordered the ceaser salad and it was delicious. Last I ordered Spaghetti Gambas (gambas is shrimp) and it was the reason I came back this pasta is so simple yet sooooo good, it taste like creamy heaven. We have eaten here many times throughout the years because we love the ambiance, people watching and food. Our last visit was pretty disappointing however. There were not nearly enough staff and multiple items we ordered were not delivered. We had to ask for the items again before they were delivered. The pizza we ordered was sloppy and not cooked well. Hopefully this was just a one-off and they'll be back to their regular greatness the next time we stop in. read more

Pretty juicy amsterdam resto We ordered the rib eye with fries and osobuco pasta. I must say the pasta dish was excellent! It was a special of the day and I finished my plate rather quickly enjoying every bite. The rib eye was just ok. Not sure if the meats in Amsterdam is just different or the meat just has no taste. The rib eye was not that good but it could just be our palette was just different from the local taste. We wanted to get pizza but we came in almost to their closing time so they were out of pizza. I think the experience would have been different if they had pizza, it looked really good. The price was in the 15-20 euros per dish so it's not that cheap. The place is decent and has nice ambiance and dim lighting. The server was friendly and helpful. I came in for dinner with my 12 year old daughter last night. I was met by a girl with a menu who asked if we wanted to order drinks. I said, "yes please, water for now . We would like to look at the menu." At that point, mind you we haven't been in our seats for a full minute, she became irritated and started the condescending and arduous task of "explaining" that there was a drink menu and a dinner menu.....as if I had no idea. She proceeded to toss the menu down in the middle of the table as she simultaneously turned and made disparaging remarks about "those Americans". As we got up to leave, she and another girl were behind the bar laughing and saying "she heard you!". To be clear, this is a zero star review. The young girl who was making the derogatory remarks about Americans is not only representing herself in a bad light, but she is also a detractor for the restaurant that employs her and more importantly a piss-poor ambassador for her country. The food may be great, but if the staff that is welcoming guests is terrible, nothing else matters. read more

Il Panorama really lives up to its name - it has great views of all the activity at its busy intersection! Nabbing a spot on the terrace is best, but when it's too cold or all the tables outside are taken, a couple of the window tables inside are just as good. Service is a little impersonal but hands-off - we were at our table for at least 20 minutes before a waitress finally came to check on us (to be fair, we were tired from a day of walking around and were happy to just sit for a while). The food is alright. My chicken salad wasn't special other than the chicken itself, which was really good, and when they say starter size they really mean starter size. Our Quatro Stagioni pizza was ok as well - crust was too soggy, "spicy sausage" meant pepperoni, just your typical pizza that you could make at home yourself. All in all: the food is mediocre, but the winning combination is food + the good view. read more

This is a great pub/restaurant! We had stopped in for an afternoon snack and got some coffee and tomato soup! They obviously have a great selection of beers as well. However, the tomato soup was exceptional - I wish I stayed for more food. This is one of the larger restaurants we encountered in Amsterdam. It had a charming first floor and even a great second floor as well with some tea lights hanging from the windows. A great place to take a break and enjoy some food, beer, coffee, etc. read more

in summary: Got yelled at by waiters, got called a b*tch by a waitress and owner denied his employees ever did any of this instead of apologizing on their behalf ... My three friends and I when to Il Panorama 2 days ago, for lunch after visiting the Anne Frank House. The food was ok. We got Brie focaccia, spinach and feta farfadelle, rose farfadelle and lasagna. The quantities were good and the food was okay, nothing great nothing horrible. However the service was horrible. When it came time to pay we asked the waitress if we could pay in 4 equal payments since we did not have cash on us. We basically wanted to pay 3/4 in cash and the last quarter of the bill by credit card. Nothing too complicated we though... We were wrong. The waitress refused to let us pay in that way because it "takes too much time and the restaurant is too busy". Might I add that the restaurant was a quarter full and the lengthy explanation the waitress gave us took way more time then it would have taken to just process our payment. After a back and forth she finally accepted to let us pay how we wanted making us feel like she was making us a huge favour and being rude to us (all the other restaurant we visited in Amsterdam had no issues with us paying in this manner). Before paying we let the waitress know that we did not appreciate her rudeness and that we should not be treated this way given we are the clients and weren't asking for that much. She responded by aggressively telling us: "DON'T BE A B*TCH". This kind of attitude towards customers is unacceptable. We asked to speak to the manager and were were told "there weren't any". However after hearing this noise, the manager who actually was present came out. This is when everything got even worse. Instead of apologizing on the behalf of his employee and offering us some excuses or compensation for the way we had been treated, the owner said "that he had to hear the side of his waitresses story and that IF she really did say that he was sorry but that he highly doubted she had said anything of the sort". How is this acceptable behaviour for employee and owners towards clients !? The owner should have apologized even if he didn't believe us and then deal with his employee the way he saw fit, but as someone in the service business should know, he should have put us first (at least in front of us, and not doubt us). As for the waitress i cannot begin to fathom how she could think it was okay to insult clients, be so aggressive, disrespectful and rude towards anyone that walks into her restaurant. I strongly discourage anyone to go to this restaurant unless you want to be disrespected by the entire staff. read more

Very good spareribs! Dropped in to this place unplanned and did not regret. A rich menu of beers made the meal perfect. Recommended!
