    Burnt almond torte cupcake

The almond cake torte is so good. It is very moist and the icing is not heavy at all. The only thing I would recommend is almond flavoring in the cake, oh yea that would take it up another level. The almond biscotti is my all time favorite. They are not too hard, but just right. The biscotti is the best I've ever had.

Visiting the Party Cake Shop is like reading the sweetest romance, such as If The Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy. From the storefront to the interior with glistening display cases filled with sweets (and savory options), the focus is clearly on the deliciousness. I walked in, searching for a half dozen of doughnuts to rival all doughnuts, and I walked out with that half dozen plus a pepperoni roll and an individual burnt almond torte. For me, doughnut shops (and bakeries alike) are judged by their Boston Creme doughnut. I look for one-of-a-kind doughnuts (so they're not perfect) that are plump with custard with a great chocolate frosting. Party Cake Shop did not disappoint; in fact, I'd say that have reorganized my hierarchy of doughnut deliciousness, claiming the #2 spot! Pricing is reasonable and quite good for this level of drooling goodness. My boyfriend prefers apple fritters, and he was impressed with the flavor and sweetness in ratio with size, saying usually it's one of the other -- but Party Cake Shop managed both taste and size! Just like any other doughnut consumer, I truly believe that I'm the connoisseur when it comes to Pittsburgh doughnuts so if you haven't stopped by the Party Cake Shop, you're truly missing out. Pro Tip: Create a list of doughnuts you want before you arrive at 6:20 am with groggy eyes (it's a lot to make 6 decisions that early) P.S. The Burnt Almond Torte offered a frothy sweet confection with delectably crunchy almonds, and I didn't want to finish my half of the cake so I ate it as slow as possible. I'll be back for more.

I love this bakery. I have been to my fair share of bakeries in the area, and this one definitely makes the best paczki's. A paczki is a Polish donut filled with either cream or fruit filling, then coved in sugar. We arrived here around 8:45/9:00am to get only paczki's and unfortunately they only had a couple left. This was not to much of a surprise to us considering they opened at 6:00am. Once it was our turn to order, we asked if there were any more, but that was all they had at the moment. A man from the back of the bakery came out and told us they were making more and they would be ready in about an hour. I am not sure if he is the owner, but he was extremely kind and thanks to him, we placed an order and came back to pick them up. *Be sure to call and place an order a day or two in advance to be guaranteed what you want. Also, the peanut butter filling is only available if you place an order! The dough of the paczki's is very airy and soft. The cream fillings are smooth and flavorful, while the fruit fillings are just perfect. I will need to try some of their other pastries and baked goods. We will be back next year for more!

    Delicious Pączki.

Best Pączki in Pittsburgh! Yes, there are many bakeries that rest their reputation on these delicious Polish pastries, however Party Cake passes the taste test. They are meant to be a rich treat to enjoy before Lent, and that's exactly what you get here with the best ingredients and a wonderful freshness.

If you are looking for some good sweets and treats PCS is a great stop. Staff is friendly and helpful. Just stopped in for some Paczki and everyone we treated loved them. Have stopped in on occasion for cakes, cookies and rolls. Always tasty and fresh. A great neighborhood bakery.

I was visiting Pittsburgh and this place kept popping up in my searches for bakeries. The lady behind the counter explained to me what her favorites were or what Pittsburgh is known for (burnt almond torte/cake I believe). Anyways, I ordered 7 things! Pumpkin Cheesecake Burnt Almond cake Creme puff creme horn apricot pastry peanut butter cannoli carrot cake Everything was a 10/10! The price was super reasonable too! Next time I am in Pittsburgh, I will be back!

    What??

I am terribly disappointed in my last few orders. This place is struggling! Gone are the days where I had nothing but praise for this community established:(

We picked up a…read morepumpkin tarte and an apple tarte--each meant to serve about six--and both were delicious. The flavors were balanced, the pastry was buttery and delicate, and they looked as good as they tasted. The total came to $50.65, which feels pretty standard for a French bakery once you understand the baseline is a bit higher than your typical American dessert spot. For the quality, it's well worth it. Consistently great, reliably tasty, and perfect for special occasions or whenever you want to treat yourself. The staff is friendly. It's usually busy here and not conducive to eating inside.

The croissants were great when you lightly air fry/toast them if you don't eat them right away. In Lawrenceville, it's a small location with a couple of outdoor seating but none inside. However, it is a chain so you might have one in your little area. My only thing is that the pistachio eclair is very sweet (so if you don't have a sweet tooth, maybe I'd go for another subtler dessert). I saw they have a deal where you can get a baguette, sandwich, and drink for $7. Good deal imo considering the quality of their bread, and it's a good excuse to buy a sweet treat with it!

They have two cases of their delicious looking pastries, one table of discounted items, and a case serving hot items. Open that case and serve yourself the hot mini quiches and empanadas. Started with a mini quiche and a beef empanada. Hubby liked his quiche. I'm not a fan of olives and they were all over my beef empanada. Will not be getting that one again. The kind young lady behind the case helped us order our very first Burnt Almond Torte. It comes in different sizes and we chose the bar as it easily serves two. She even gave us sporks to eat it with. We really loved the Burnt Almond Torte. The inside has a soft, moist vanilla cake layered with a thin layer of icing and enrobed with more icing and topped with the buttery, crunchy almonds. We will be back for more.

I started with the quiche and enjoyed it; the crust was just average but the egg filing was very good. My wife was not a fan of the empanada so we will not get that again. It was around 10 hours before we tried our Burnt Almond Torte...wow! That dessert is something that I will eat again, and again. The toasted almonds were soooo good! They were crunchy, crispy, and perfect. The Bar Cake had a white cake inside and icing on the outside; it was heavily coated in those almonds. The person who assisted was knowledgeable about the items to a point; she did not eat anything in the bakery so it was by observation. Don't care, that Burnt Almond Torte is the real deal!
