Chicken over salad
Donyiel C.

Seen this food truck around and decided to try it last week. I ordered the chicken over salad extra spicy (with siracha on the side) and it was wasn't bad. Can't say I was completely satisfied, but I would definitely order from this truck again - might try a different item. The customer service was good and that's always a plus.

Stopped by this food truck while at the Air and Space museum. Though tasty but far from the best Gyro Ive had they seemed to load it up so much with toppings that eating it like a sandwich is impossible without causing a huge mess. I downed it with a fork. Meat was a tad overcooked and dry.

The quality of food is very good. I had their lamb gyro wrap and liked it better than New York's Halal Guys' beef shawarma wrap. The guy who was working there on the Sunday I visited DC was nice and friendly. I totally recommend it. P. S. Their meat is halal.

Super friendly and my food was great!

Better than expected! I got the chicken platter with spinach and chickpeas instead of salad. Just so yummy!

Combo gyro.

Two and a half stars. First customer of the day (#2 window opened 15 minutes after their Twitter account predicted), so a short wait for my food to be prepared by the polite staff. The meat is super moist, and I liked the bits of gristle in my chicken, but I preferred the gyro-style lamb. I feel like the large chunks of protein make the gyro wrap format difficult to consume, so I'd probably opt for the platter next time. Coarsely chopped lettuce hadn't been fully pulled apart. Plus the thick pita had barely been warmed through, making it apparent that the bread was a little stale, and it split open trying to stretch for each bite. Pepperoncini on the side. Pretty good deal for free fries with two entrees.

Quality is good but not enough food for the price. Lady in the truck was generous though.

Don't recommend. I found hair in the food after few bites. The sanitary of the food is questionable.

Wow! Pleasantly surprised how great this place was…read more Parking is a little tight & on a hill so be caution of that! Menu has a great selection of meats and kabobs to select from in addition to apps! I opt for the saffron chicken that pairs with saffron rice (can opt to have salad as well) and this was amazing!!! Chicken was extremely flavorful & juicy (for chicken breast especially!) the rice was fluffy & tasty (perhaps had some butter mixed in) I wish there was so sort of sauce to pair with this meal but still amazing. Service was friendly and nice - there indoor seating but the dining space a little limited. Recommend coming before dinner rush bc this place is packed!

They were super busy when we arrived so it took about 10 minutes to check on us but were very apologetic. All good. The setting is very casual so not a romantic first date setting, but the food is delicious so if you want to impress via taste buds, then give it a try. Everything looked so good so we all tried different dishes for a wider experience. For starters we had tahdig, which I think is a must-try. I've wanted to try tahdig for awhile now and this hit my spot. For my meal, I had the pesto chicken kabobs, upgraded with shirin sweet polo rice, which was amazing on its own. One of my kids had the kadoo, which was also delicious. My wife had the bademjan, another winner. Also tried were the fesenjan, among other dishes. Again, everything was great.

I came on a Friday night with plans having to be changed; thankfully I could make a reservation for this place a few hours before. This place is beautiful with the Persian decorations and artwork. I got the Nights of Shiraz as my cocktail and it was so refreshing with the cucumber elements! They gave us complimentary bread with this butter and savoury spread (not sure what it was) and it was a great way to start the meal. They later gave us a powder and spicy sauce which was great with my entree. For food, I got the kabob e chenjeh (lamb kabob) with adas polo (rice with dates and fried onions I believe). The lamb was cooked well and the spicy sauce and powder worked great with the meat. The crunchy rice was tasty too. Even with side veggies and herbs were flavourful - it was such a good meal! The staff were quick and kind too. I really liked this place and have to come again to try some of their other stuff!

Everyone had different favorites of the night. I was most impressed with the chicken kebab. Usually with cubed pieces of chicken it can get a bit dry. But the chicken kebab was juicy and flavorful. Others loved the lamb kebab which just fell off the bone with one touch. Another favorite was the chicken saffron rice which had this tart and sweet pomegranate sauce to go with the chicken and rice. Drinks were okay. I liked how they had these wellness tonics. I only tried one and it was made with clarified cumin, meant to help with gut inflammation. I took one star off because I think our server could have been more knowledgeable about the menu, both food and drink menu. They had to refer questions to the bartender or back of house staff often. Our chicken saffron rice also came rather late (like well over an hour into the dinner) compared to everything else. Also, I loved the decor and detail in the red bathroom. My personal philosophy in dining is that every interaction is an opportunity to impress , and I was truly wowed by how ornate the bathroom was. Felt like I was in someone's home.

The food is nothing but genius--fantastic concepts like their roasted carrots, soft, spicy outer textures with a simultaneously solid and rich core. Their hummus is delectable and thick, offering an appreciated simplistic flavor paired with everything served. Their nutty, sweet, warm halloumi, mezze tasting (various pickled veggies offering a cool addition and sometimes a kick), ribeye steak & chicken souvlaki blew me away. The steak was as good as it was last time (9.9/10), and the chicken souvlaki was soft, cooked to perfection served with a zingy garnish of pickled onions. For dessert, their chocolate spiced mousse was a run-of-the-mill chocolate mousse. It was good, but I wasn't getting much of the spice. The service at our time there has a funny backstory--reservations were accidentally made at their sister restaurant, Medina. However, due to it being a special occasion, George (shoutout) managed to find us a perfect seat on the second level, overlooking the inner workings of the exposed aesthetic of the restaurant. The ambiance was calm, smooth, dim-lit, and encompassed a primal, eclectic atmosphere at the same time. Nonetheless, Maydan is an incredible restaurant providing outstanding meals suitable for various diets (keto, vegan, etc.) with great and dutiful servers who bring together the shrouded, intimate atmosphere. Everything just works and time flies in there. Definitely worth a try!

The appetizer was dropped on my lap as the waitress cleared the plate. She didn't seem to care and said "slippery little things". $300 worth of food was delivered and not once were we asked how the food quality was. The problem is the $75 flat iron steak we ordered as medium came out as rare and was to the point it was hard to cut it was so chewy. Spoke to manager about the situation and his care meter seemed to be broken. It's a shame because ambiance and environment is great. The service was not.

First, I didn't realize it was a sit down and order restaurant, I was used to short order. I was quickly seared and within a couple minutes one server had brought me water as well as fresh tandoori bread and a delicious spicy green sauce to go with it. A second server appeared quickly to take my order. I explained I was used to short order, and all I wanted was their version of chicken and steak (not ground beef.) The waiter explained how he'd do the combo on the menu and off he went. Having looked at the menu, I feared this might be an expensive option, and it was. But a few minutes later I was presented with a platter of delicious looking steak, chicken, rice, onions, tomato, and event a char-roasted jalapeño. It was enough food for my wife and I have had for dinner between us, so the price was well justified. Every thing was delicious. At the end of the meal, I asked if I could order another tandoori bread, and get a small to-go container of the green spicy spread to bring home for wife to try. They brought me both a generous helping of bread and the sauce, and charged me for neither. This service, combined with a delicious meal that, while expensive, will end up being three meals, means this is definitely a spot I plan to go back to as well as recommend.
