spicy lamb with spinach and chick peas! yum!
    Chuq Y.

It had been a while since I had food from a food truck. Boy I forget how yummy they are. There are likely a number of trucks that could get me back onto twitter to stalk the elusive food trucks, but the one that just happened to be outside the door of a meeting I was in, was Tasty Kabob. There were a few people in line, but hey, that's a good sign for a food truck right? After a brief wait, some hemming and hawing about what to get, I decided on the spicy lamb kabob with both chick peas and spinach. Good choice. I thought originally that the $10 price tag was pretty steep, but when I got back to the meeting, everyone commented how good our lunches smelled, and then I opened the (unfortunately) styrofoam clamshell. It was PACKED full of goodness and I was SO hungry. I was so happy, and dug in and CRUSHED it. The food was delicious. I do think the "spicy" version could be a lot spicier, but being Korean, I have a pretty high tolerance for spicy foods. My craving for food trucks is back. I'll be looking for more of these rolling restaurants, and if this one is around, and I'm hungry, then I'll definitely hit it again. The woman in the truck was super cool and patient while I asked questions.

All my co-workers have been raving over Tasty Kabob and I was finally able to try it. The first thing I noticed was that the portions were HUGE- more than enough food for lunch. Everyone was recommending the Lamb & Rice and for good reason; the lamb is very tender and tasty esp with the dill white sauce! The rice on the bottom was too oily for my preference. Just be prepared, the itis is real after this meal.

Feeling adventurous so I ventured out where the would have been ramen eating bunch would go- zeroed in the Tasty kabob food truck in the GWU campus, 22nd & I along with other good trucks like the Rolling Cow & others. I was planning to grab lunch from Whole Foods when I got stuck and curiously followed the lines to the food truck. I was torn between this and the Rolling Cow but halal won this time. Not as good as the halal food that don along 5th Ave & 53rd Midtown NY so 3 stars was appropriate. I ordered the chicken combo the pita was amazing my fav, chicken tasted ok, not as fresh, salad was very small and the tzatziki sauce was minimal. A definite one off for me

Chicken over rice, spinach, and chickpeas

This place is A-OK. The customer service was friendly and quick. I got the spicy chicken over salad with spinach and chickpeas. The cook of the chicken was well executed, but the flavor could have been bolder. This place is middle eastern, so perhaps it uses turmeric, which has a muted flavor profile. Nonetheless, it looked much more flavor packed than it actually was, but it was decent enough to get me by. The salad is relatively default with some onion and a couple of big tomato slices. The chickpeas were in a sauce that tasted kind of like spaghetti o's sauce and somewhat ordinary. You get a nice size portion for $9. It won't knock your socks off, but it's a solid eat if you want to keep it simple.

Three and a half stars. Portions were filling, I probably should have saved half for another light lunch. Good value and tender meat for a food truck, and friendly customer service compared to other nearby trucks in the rain. Sadly I wanted a little more seasoning across the board... especially on the chickpeas, which bordered on bland. Their hot sauce riff on sriracha had an ok amount of heat. Sampled the lamb, which I couldn't see being appropriate outside of a gyro. Salad greens were fresh and sliced awkwardly long. Chicken was better than what I've had at some brick and mortar places. Beef meatballs shouldn't be missed: juicy and flavorful, not at all dense. I'll be back to try their chicken & mushrooms (Fridays only), and other sides on rotation (hopefully spinach and okra).

Lamb and rice with chickpeas and spinach sides $9

Definitely surpassed my expectations. Granted, I've only eaten from this food truck once, but it was absolutely delicious, and though I thought the price was a little high for what I was expecting, my $9 order in a styrofoam box was a ton of food - enough to feed me for a total of three meals! That's $3/meal (obviously)! On their recommendation, I ordered the lamb & rice, and despite the menu board saying it came with "salad and choice of side," they just asked me which two sides I wanted, which I appreciated because it's a rare day when salad's my first choice for anything. I asked for their two favorites, and they gave me chickpeas and spinach. All three elements of the meal - the lamb, chickpeas, and spinach - were awesome. Spicy, lots of great sauce, and really alive with flavors, even when covered in liberal squirts of their white sauce (I'd probably request this on the side next time). I don't know what to order next time, because I'd be hard pressed not to get all three items again (the spinach was especially remarkable), but the 3-for-3 score also makes me eager to taste test other stuff. Guess I'll be signing up for two entrees next time...

I sent my boyfriend to buy me some yummay lunch from the Bulgogi Cart, but alas, it was not there. Tasty Kabob, however, WAS. So, I thought -- why not? We had actually seen it drive in front of us a few days earlier. So, we both got a lamb/chicken and rice combo. He had a side of chickpeas and I had the spinach. Unfortunately, I did not think either sides were too good -- both were not as flavorful as they could be and actually tasted strangely similar. The meat, however, was pretty good. They poured the yogurt sauce over it (but not too much, thankfully) and it sat on a bed of long-grained rice. The meats were tender and flavorful and I actually really enjoyed the lamb (not usually a lamb eater!). The portions were also quite generous so that I ate it for 3 meals! I wasn't overly impressed, but at the same time I was satisfied. If I was hungry and needed a quick meal and saw Tasty Kabob, I would not mind going again, but I would not make my lunch plans around it, either.

    Tasty Gyro.

Very good Chicken Gyro. The chicken was spiced just right with nice hints of curry. It was messy eating this gyro, but who cares if it tastes good:) service was fast and cheap, 6 bucks. The price was just right. Stay Hungry!

Great, friendly service. Big portions, good value. The marinade used for the chicken is not for me... I really want to like this truck, but the spices (savory, not spicy hot) don't agree with me. I'll have to try something other than chicken next time!

I was so hyped up to see the Tasty Kabob truck on the street today that I whipped out my $9 for my chicken with rice platter. I opted for the sides of chick peas and potatoes (I usually get spinach.) and honestly, I was underwhelmed. The plate wasn't bursting with food like it usually was and what's up with the red food dye for the chicken? It looked like I was eating twizzler colored chucks of chewy chicken. The potato was flavorless chalky potatoey blah. The chick peas were an orangy yellow, but tasted decent. The rice with the medium hot sauce was the saving grace. I could have eaten the whole plate if it was just the rice and hot and yogurt sauce. Today, I actually regretted getting this...sad.

    Lamb over rice
    Yaka H.

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food and how tasty it was, but a small part of me winced at the price tag of $10, since the price rose $1. The other parts of me were stuffed full at the gills. I tried the lamb over rice with a side of spinach, while SX opted for chicken over rice with a side of chickpeas. The lamb wasn't chunks of lamb meat, but rather more of a gyro-meat like concoction. So, in that aspect, I probably would have preferred chicken (since it's chunks of chucken) over the lamb, as it's much more juicier option. The salad had definitely seen better days, a bit wilty and turning color. So, if possible, opt for 2 vegetable sides if they will allow it. The vegetable sides stand out the most, being flavor packed, cooked well, and tasty. Overall easy to eat in the streets if there's a bench nearby.

Love to get this quick side dish for a meal on the go.

I visit the Truck when it is on the GW campus for lunch! It's my favorite treat. Recently when I walked up to the window one of the guys knew my order - Small 1/2 chickpeas 1/2 spinach with hot sauce and no white sauce. At first I was pleased, but as I sat down to enjoy my food I started thinking, am I am in a Tasty Kabob rut? Do I need to mix things up? When I am more hungry I do get the salad with meat or meat over rice. I've never had anything I didn't like!! Don't be worried to ask to have different combo's of what they are offering, they are always willing to make you happy. Tasty Kabob is my favorite food truck, one of the few I follow on Twitter.

The pita was so delicious and we kept dipping it in the complimentary olive oil with black olive tapenade. The dip sampler was good, but we didn't love all the options as part of that mix like the red pepper dip or the fishy roe. Finally, the wine selection is unique here. It consists of a lot of Greek and Turkish wines. We aren't as familiar with this regions o appreciated our server allowing us to taste the wine before committing. The Spanish cheese (Mahón) along with the crackers and mustard sauce was superb. All the meats had their own characteristics and unique flavors but the jamón stood out to us the most. It even went well with the sauce that came for our cauliflower dish. It was fun piecing the components together to make unique tasty bites. I would come back just for the charcuterie alone. The drinks we got were Angelli's Ferrari along with the espresso martini-ish. My favorite was definitely the Ferrari one, but the espresso martini was super mild and had a slight coffee flavor. Good for people who like very light coffee. The Ferrari one was very bright and had lots of fruity notes to hide the alcohol. For entrées, we had the shakshouka, crispy, cauliflower, and brunch pork belly. Out of all these the cauliflower was definitely my favorite; super light with good earthy flavors and nuttiness and acidity from the lemon. The brunch pork belly was good too. The meat was perfectly cooked, but I found the beans to be a little bit overwhelming. I'm not a fan of baked beans personally so that might've been my fault for picking the dish, but I still did enjoy it and the pork that was well cooked made up for it; definitely for someone who likes beans. Shakshouka was very hearty with a lot of tomatoes and red vegetables in general. If you like lasagna or any sort of tomato spaghetti dish, you will like this one. I found this to be a bit much though. I was slightly tired of the flavor at the end. Just be aware it is a bit spicy. We had a pear tart for dessert. Honestly, it reminded me of an apple pie and it was good, but I think that some of the other desserts would've been a bit better. Had a lot of sweet cinnamon notes along some crispy flaky dough from the outside. It was an interesting take but it was still good. The atmosphere is great here; we had seating on the second floor, so it was different from the busy first floor. Very relaxed and there's a lot of natural light coming around which made everything feel very welcoming. Our server was also super friendly. I will definitely be back at this place

The pita bread is thick and garlicky and oily and massive. The croquettes would be at the bottom of my list simply because they're dissimilar from any I've had before and a little bit underwhelming. The tuna was fresh but it's a small dish and not much to write home about. The lamb skewers have a subtle kick to them and they're pretty substantial. I'll definitely be back to try more! The food is nothing but genius--fantastic concepts like their roasted carrots, soft, spicy outer textures with a simultaneously solid and rich core. Their hummus is delectable and thick, offering an appreciated simplistic flavor paired with everything served. Their nutty, sweet, warm halloumi, mezze tasting (various pickled veggies offering a cool addition and sometimes a kick), ribeye steak & chicken souvlaki blew me away. The steak was as good as it was last time (9.9/10), and the chicken souvlaki was soft, cooked to perfection served with a zingy garnish of pickled onions. For dessert, their chocolate spiced mousse was a run-of-the-mill chocolate mousse. It was good, but I wasn't getting much of the spice. The service at our time there has a funny backstory--reservations were accidentally made at their sister restaurant, Medina. However, due to it being a special occasion, George (shoutout) managed to find us a perfect seat on the second level, overlooking the inner workings of the exposed aesthetic of the restaurant. The ambiance was calm, smooth, dim-lit, and encompassed a primal, eclectic atmosphere at the same time. Nonetheless, Maydan is an incredible restaurant providing outstanding meals suitable for various diets (keto, vegan, etc.) with great and dutiful servers who bring together the shrouded, intimate atmosphere. Everything just works and time flies in there. Definitely worth a try!

The appetizer was dropped on my lap as the waitress cleared the plate. She didn't seem to care and said "slippery little things". $300 worth of food was delivered and not once were we asked how the food quality was. The problem is the $75 flat iron steak we ordered as medium came out as rare and was to the point it was hard to cut it was so chewy. Spoke to manager about the situation and his care meter seemed to be broken. It's a shame because ambiance and environment is great. The service was not.

The staff was so warm and friendly and we were seated next to the fireplace, which made the whole experience nice and cozy. The food was nothing short of amazing and the servings were generous. The factor that made the experience even more special, however, was our server Cameron. Not only was she incredibly charming, she also oozed professionalism. She seemed to know what we wanted before we did, making the entire evening that much more memorable. We vowed to one another to come back during warmer weather to enjoy the wisteria-adorned patio in bloom and hope for an experience even half as special.

Went with the family table pre-fix menu, which includes all meze, and your choice of pasta, entree and dessert to share. overall, thought the dishes lacked flavor and depth. highlight was the pasta which you can tell is made fresh. but that is the one dish I would return for. short rib and maitake were dry, served on a bed of duxelles. caesar dressing was not bright, croutons were stale. citrus salad and beets were ok. none of the meze stood out
