Drinks are terrible, I tried the yard and the coffee cocktail and couldn't drink either of them. I could only taste watered down alcohol and honestly, if I just wanted to taste alcohol, I would have just ordered myself a shot and not a cocktail. Do yourself a favor and stick to your beers and basics. Hard pass on the cocktails. The place was pretty busy when I visited yesterday. They had college football on, so all the fun games were put away and more tables were set up for people to sit and watch. They also add automatic 20% gratuity on all their tabs whether the bartender deserved it or not. Maybe that's why all their drinks are under average. I love Parlor and Yard. On Friday and Saturday nights it can get pretty busy, but there's plenty of seating between the sofas and high tables. They've got a great outdoor area with AstroTurf, ping pong, corn hole, tables and benches, and heaters in the winter. They also have a bar outside, which is good for when the inside bar is packed. On football days, it's a more relaxed vibe, which makes the couches nice, and they have games on the TVs. The food is good too. I had their beer mac and cheese and it was delicious. Big serving. There's also a little area where they have arcade/bar type games. Foosball, shuffleboard, and a weird but surprisingly fun hockey game. read more

I came here for the Iowa vs. Penn State game and I wore an Iowa hat to support my team, I heard it was a Penn State bar so idk if they did it because I was an Iowa fan or because they thought they could get away with it but they charged me $58 for 2 high noons, none of their drink menus are over $10 so idk how they added it up to $58 dollars. Probably won't ever return but they had nice plants. Will be reporting it since there is no way my bill should've been that high, I would have stayed for more drinks but seeing that they overcharged me on 2 drinks i felt like they were taking advantage since I was an Iowa fan. We came in on a Sunday evening hoping to catch multiple NFL games at once, and we got it, and so much more! The staff was super nice, and very quick behind the bar!! They have an awesome patio, and comfortable indoor space with tons of seating options, and in-house games you can borrow. If you're lucky, they have some of the house-infused liquor options available for cocktails, and they also have a great draft beer selection. Brooklyn Pie Co is inside, and very tempting, with good reason! We got an order of fried ravioli to share between two of us, and it took all of our willpower not to order another...or two! They are SUPER dog friendly y'all!! Probably one of the best in all of Austin IMHO. They let the good boys and girls stay inside, and are happy to bring water bowls! Went to parlor for a nice night out with some co-workers after hearing so many good things about this place but instead was encountered with a horrible staff member that seemed like a bad fit for this rad place! Her name was Miranda and she seemed to be out of it the whole time. It seemed as if she was drunk. Whenever she would speak, she would slur her words and not understand what any of us would tell her to top it off she was being extremely offensive when speaking to us and other customers. We stopped by at 5:30 on a Thursday and there were tables available outside and room for a game, but I can imagine it might get tight on a Friday or Saturday night. I have been to Parlor and Yard a few times and like the design of the space, but I will never return after the staff were uniquely and astonishingly rude during my last visit. There are dozens of very similar Austin bars, so I look forward to taking my business and friends elsewhere. We were hanging out in the outdoor area at a time when the bar was nearly empty. They turned the music on at an extremely high volume, and we all immediately agreed it was uncomfortably loud. As virtually the only patrons outside, we politely asked the bartenders to turn the music down. One bartender responded so obnoxiously we could not believe it, literally telling us to get lost and conveying an attitude of total disrespect for some of the only customers there. Two other staff members there just laughed. The rude bartender introduced himself as Sean and claimed to be the owner, which evidently (and not so surprisingly) is a blatant lie. The hotel was only about 1 mile from 6th street so we drove around to see where the spot was. We drove by this place and heard great music so we decided to go there. When I asked the second bartender how much the beers were he told me six and seven dollars which is 13 and I asked him why the other bartender charge me 17. He told me they automatically add 20%. This is the ideal spot to goof around with friends on a sunny weekend. Alas, I was by myself and nerdily nursed a rather good whiskey cocktail with a book inside while happy groups grabbed beers or $3 mimosas and headed through the arcade to the outside patio. There are games inside too, but the weather was too tempting. They have big screens and play cool music inside, so I can imagine this is a good spot to watch a game or hang out at night as well. Came here for happy hour with my co-workers on a Tuesday. Got there around 5. It wasn't too busy yet and there was one bartender behind the bar, Tony. Well tony can make a mean drink for sure! Had the Saint Sabbatical and might I say it was tasty. The atmosphere is relaxing with couches and soft chairs. And when I say soft I mean when you sit in them you sink into them. The only think that I felt was a bit of an issue is the music was way to loud for how many people were in the bar. We actually asked him to turn it down at one point as we were having a hard to time having conversations without yelling at one another. Tony did so, but as the crowd started to come in the music went back up. I give this place a 4 star as Tony was a really good bartender. The prices are what you would expect for downtown so nothing new there. I would go again for happy hour. read more

My rare visit to West 6th landed me smack dab in the middle of the astroturf patio at Parlor and Yard. While there weren't many patrons, there were tons of outdoor style games to keep boredom at bay. Cornhole, foosball, a bizarre version of shuffleboard, and that game with the hook and metal ring were all amongst the arcade of bar games. I didn't play any, but if it's not crowded, it would be a fun way to spend an afternoon. The drinks were pretty cheap on a Monday night. I bought around 5 beers and my tab ended up being $16 before tip. I'll take that for the neighborhood. The bartenders were friendly and not uptight - just the way I like them. While I miss Arro, Parlor and Yard is a cool concept and the quintessential summer sports bar. read more

I had seen this new opening highlighted in Culture Map and thought I would try it out about 4:30 PM There were a couple being served at the bar and a group of four waiting before me at the bar. The bartender seemed to be more interested in talking with the couple (understandable for a new opening). Some other customers came in and the bartender decided they were more important than the one's already waiting. After about ten minutes, the first four were served and proceeded to close there tabs. However, the bartender did acknowledge my presence. The tabs were signed and then the bartender went off to serve other newly arrived customers. After 20 minutes I decided to leave. Either the bartender is blind or I am invisible, maybe he is just incompetent. I will have no problem telling my friends and acquaintances how much this place sucks. This place was cool. We're visiting from San Antonio and decided to stop by. The bartenders were very welcoming. They had some infusions such as the pineapple kettle one that sounded pretty good. The set up of the lounge area was really nice. The only problem with this place was a regular who was drunk and acting belligerently telling us he owned the bar and Austin was his territory and we need to leave. My friends and I came here... and it was over capacity. We waited on the curb with groups of 10+ drunk sorority girls / fraternity boys trying to cut us every three minutes, literally. THEN, we are at the front after waiting patiently, and the bouncer w/ a mohawk yells at us that we are kindergartners and smushes us like sardines on the sidewalk... Anyways, we are finally at the front after 30 minutes of waiting, and that same bouncer seems to be getting some sort of power trip. More specifically, he's calling out to the line "who's next!?!?" when we are clearly at the front of the line (???), abs basically it seems like he'd let in whoever would kiss up to him the most. We let him know that we are next in line, and he says, "fine. If y'all are gonna argue, I'm going back inside," and leaves us out there for another five minutes in 45 degree weather? Then, he FINALLY lets us in and touches my lower back as I walk in? Totally inappropriate. And then we get drinks and I get a vodka soda and a shot of vodka (Tito's), and my total comes out to $20. I am an experienced vodka drinker, and it was 100% diluted with water. This place may have been overwhelmed. It seemed cool, but I feel really let down. read more
