Final stop...The Lucky Duck The Lucky Duck is one of East Austin's bar hangouts. Today they were celebrating their 6th anniversary. They were serving the drink of your choice for a mere $25 in the shape of a duck. They were so stinking cute. This open air layout with a patio is a whole vibe. Folks seemed very laid back and chill. The music was on and popping! There was ample seating in the open air space. The place was packed. However, everyone appeared to be in their own little worlds and not bothered by the persons surrounding them. Conservations were taking place which made The Lucky Duck feel alive and inviting. This is the type of bar that you can drop by and stay a while. The setting is comfortable, which promotes hanging out for a bit. read more

On a night out on East Sixth, we stumbled into Lucky Duck and found ourselves in a great spot. The main bar was pretty cool, with a dive bar feel on the inside and a large patio with a big projector screen playing the Bears Packers game on the outside. As we continued wandering, we found an entrance to their special speakeasy. After heading down the hidden trail, we walked up into a little house with divided rooms, where they placed our group in one of them. We could scan a QR code and order drinks directly on our phones, and they had great deals with specials rotating throughout the weekend. It was definitely a step up from the already great Lucky Duck and made for an even better experience. If you are reading a Yelp review to try and find the speakeasy, I will give you free game. Go to the basketball hoops and find the entrance on the right side. The drinks at Lucky Duck are pretty typical for East Sixth, pricier than you would truly like, but the speakeasy side is a steal in comparison and makes a night out feel more earned and more adventurous. They weren't watered down and easy to drink. The Lucky Duck has a huge outdoor space with its own food truck and porta potties. I honestly didn't have high expectations, but the food completely blew me away. They were out of chicken thighs, so we couldn't try the chicken sandwiches. Fries ($8): Huge portion. Super crispy and addicting. I couldn't stop eating them. Best item of the night. Hot Cheetos Wings (5 for $13): Fully coated in Hot Cheetos and really tasty. Not spicy, at least for me. The Lucky Duck is a bar located on East 6th Street. The name Lucky Duck stands for community and good fortune. This venue has an inviting atmosphere and is a great place to host events. The inside of the venue has a nice bar space offering quality cocktails. There is also a nice outdoor space with plenty of picnic table style seating and an outdoor bar as well. Lucky Duck was partnering with RunforitRep run group to host a community running event called the Texas Two Step. There were lots of vendors on site in the outdoor space including Adidas, C4 Performance and FleetFeet. There was also DJs both inside and outside the venue playing great music for a fun and energetic vibe. There was a craft activity to style our own rubber ducky in line with the Lucky Duck theme. They also had a fun Photo Booth on site as well as an ice plunge for recovery. Overall, this venue was a great location to host an event. Although I didn't get a chance to try the cocktail and food menu, I look forward to returning in the future to sample their food and drinks when I don't have to run. read more

This is a bar with a backyard! There's little arcade games outside and a projector screen. We went to eat at the Lucky Duck food truck, and definitely have to come back. I love Lucky duck! From the indoor and outdoor environment that you can pick and choose to hang out at to the good good lineup of DJs that they end up choosing. The service there is great! They didn't have the dollar wings when we got there even though it said while supplies last and they still had some. But it's not the end of the world. Wow... what a dive! This is basically a concrete wall and floored building with a large back yard and a couple of bars... They have loud music and a DJ and you just buy a drink and congregate. Very little seating, not very cozy, not comfy at all. Drinks are basic. But it gets crazy-crowded. Usually not a bad spot for a few bevs on a night out. But on this particular night, we went in, got a few drinks, and realized upon leaving that one of us had left our credit card at the bar. Speaking to the bouncer, we explained the situation and offered to leave an id/phone with him while we quickly went to the bar to pick it up and leave. The bouncer must have been on the BIGGEST ego trip of his life. He was so rude and clearly doesn't have an ounce of empathy in his entire body. My guy, if you're a bouncer on 6th, you're not hot shit -- hate to break it to you. You could have let us in to get the card like a decent human, but you chose to be shitty. Maybe choose human connection and empathy next time. Don't worry though, we got the card back through the side entrance -- where the staff weren't so shitty. Luck Duck is off of East 6th Street that offers drinks and has a hopping patio with live music and a TV to catch any sporting events. I went on St Patricks Day and they had bands playing throughout the day. There is a bar inside and outback as well. They also have a food truck in the back. When I went they had a local wing truck with some sides like fries and tots. The service was fast and efficient and the drinks were strong. Even though I am a decade older than most patrons, The Lucky Duck has never treated me that way, and that is much appreciated! When I lived on the eastside, it would often be one of my last stops before retiring for the evening, and by evening, I do mean early morning, and served all the purposes one needs at that hour. I'm a bit hard on judging The Lucky Duck, I'll admit, as I was a fan of Attabar and the bartenders that work there. I've been to the new spot once or twice and think it's OK, but I'm a bit upset that they switched their draft cocktail from an Old Fashioned to something else. Granted, I tried the Spicy Margarita and liked it, but I sure do miss getting an $8 Old Fashioned. The Lucky Duck pretty much follows the pricing of Attabar, so $8 draft cocktails and $5 all day happy hour on Monday. It's a good bar and the staff has been nice so far, so I may revisit this review at some point and up them to 4*. read more
