I can't help but wonder if this is a new account, because I am surprised there aren't more reviews about how fantastic the Christmas Miracle on 5th Street Pop-up is! I need to know more about how the bar gets ALL THE DECOR up, because there is no surface untouched by Christmas spirit. Tickets are required to get in it seems, you can purchase different tiers and also include a drink if you want. We got a welcome shot, tiny but warmed us up. I loved the drinks I tried, they really seem to make each one unique and so tasty. They are pricey, but consider this part of the experience. Every surface is decorated and I spent some time just slowly wondering, taking videos and photos. The staff are dressed up too. There are 2 rooms and an upstairs that can be reserved for private parties. Even the railings are wrapped! If you want to go somewhere that looks like Christmas threw up while sipping on cocktails and catching up during the holidays, this is your place. read more

The Eleanor is right next door to The Roosevelt and is its sister bar. It's mainly an event space with a concrete floor, a cool curved bar, exposed ceilings, and exposed brick and wood walls. Similar in design to The Roosevelt. If you want to go The Roosevelt without reservations and waiting for space to open up, this is a great way to pass the time until then. Just like The Roosevelt, they offer N/A cocktails, classic cocktails, and house creations. The N/A espresso martini is primo. The French 75 is one of the best I've had in the U.S. House creations, Show Business, Estatua Verde, and Standing Ovation are my faves! Show Business: Hendrick's Gin, Witch Hazel, Lavender, and other flavors Estatua Verde: White rum, sherry, lime juice, and more including smoke Standing Ovation: Campari, rum, bourbon, espresso, and more. So. Much. Goodness. They get pretty busy too and service can take a bit but never so long that it's bad. In fact, it's good, especially since you're getting high-end cocktails made by talented mixologists. read more

Celebrating my friend's milestone birthday, we rented out the place for lots of friends. It's the perfect place for special events albeit it can get super loud because the floor is cement and nothing to absorb the sound. The staff is very efficient and friendly and the drink menu is amazing. There's a back area for dancing or whatever and a photo booth and the front is where the bar is and tables. The music was hard to hear in the front where only the bass was clearly heard. The back part was easier to hear the music but the party was in the front. Long Farewell ($20): A mix of RR coconut vodka, Mizu lemongrass shochu, cucumber, pandan, Thai herb syrup, whey, pineapple, lime, yuzu, neroli, Thai chili & Himalayan salt powder (contains dairy). This one was seriously delicious--smooth, well-balanced, and all the flavors worked well together. As someone who is currently not drinking, I have to say that The Eleanor has one hell of a zero proof cocktail menu. I've been back a few times for their NA'groni and other libations and damn if it doesn't feel like I'm having the real deal. Their attention to detail and conscious efforts to create true (zero proof) cocktails, shows me the effort for everyone to have a good time. Their menu is so fun but I do recommend having a spontaneous moment and using their photo booth (there is a charge for it) but you receive two physical prints to take home. I was in awe with their drink with edible gold dusted all over the glass and my partner enjoyed each of the drinks he's tried. As a sister bar to The Roosevelt Room, this is much more of a casual bar and not a required sitdown experience you'll have next door. I'm commenting here on the Eleanor holiday theme experience - was not expecting it! Normally the Eleanor has a similar vibe to next door Roosevelt room (dark, low light, sexy vibe). Around the holidays, the inside transforms to a wonderland of holiday decor and holiday drinks! It's a lot like Lala's little nugget inside actually. It was very cute, but despite coming around 3p on a sat just after thanksgiving, the place was POPPING. There was one single small high top table in the back near the bathrooms where I sat, otherwise all the tables were taken. The bartenders were working super hard too - I had wanted to come and sit and work on my laptop with a drink, but the vibe was WAY too holiday party-like, and I ended up leaving after 20 mins or so while waiting for my friend. I didn't try a drink because I actually had wanted something off their non-holiday menu I saw online, and they were just serving holiday drinks as far as I could tell. Those were a bit pricey too, $20 was the low end of drink prices, and I saw some up to $25 but they look like a standard sized drink... that is expensive nevertheless - I like what they did for the holidays, it's cute and festive! Hoping to come back and try a drink after the holidays. As a last note - they had someone at the entrance checking bags on the way in and out, because people have been stealing their holiday mugs... not cool. Don't take things! It did not disappoint! First, there was a bit of a line (because it's awesome and deserves a line) but they moved people in quickly. Besides, everyone in line is in a festive mood so you're laughing and joking with everyone anyway. Once inside you are transported to the North Pole! I went to the North Pole this past week!! It is a delightful place where we got to hang out with Santa... sit in his chair... drink some Christmas cheer... and rock the Christmas mood!! We visited The Miracle pop up Christmas bar that takes over the Eleanor during the holiday season. This bar had been on my list of things to try in the Austin area, and I was glad we finally stopped in. My girlfriend and I waited in line at about 10:30 on a Saturday night for about 30 minutes to get inside. It didn't feel like it took that long. We expected for it to be packed on a Saturday night and it definitely was, so just be realistic if you go closer to Christmas and on a weekend! Once we made it inside, we walked around the first floor. We opted not to check out the also festive second floor due to the crowd. The bartenders on the first floor were nice, but looked super flustered. They have a specialty Christmas cocktail menu. I ordered the Christmapolitan and my friend ordered the SanTaRex. Each cocktail comes in a different novelty glass. You can opt to purchase the glass to take home after you are done drinking it, but I don't know anyone who would choose to do so for the glass prices. The two drinks alone were $33. It would have been an extra $41 to take home the glasses. We knew we were paying for the experience, so we didn't mind the drink price sans take home glasses. I was so glad that I LOVED my drink. The bartender even sprayed something on the top of it right before adding the last details. I don't know what it was, but that drink did taste magical! My friend, a bourbon lover, also really enjoyed her drink. Overall, it was a fun, new experience! read more

Wandered in unexpectedly when the Ali Wong "baby cobra" bouncer at the door caught my eye. I was en route for the Roosevelt Room next door but you're not NOT going to stop when you see such a good impersonator randomly standing on the street. The Ali look alike informed us that the Eleanor is actually the sister establishment to the Roosevelt Room (get the name association) and that we had in fact stumbled upon their Asian pop-up night. Obviously we went in for a round. The space was all decked out with lucky cats, Chinese lanterns, paper cranes, and more. They had a themed drink menu for the night (loved mine btw) and the cocktails were even being served up in Chinese take-out boxes! It wasn't super packed but it was very cozy and laid back atmosphere. We wandered into one of the rooms in the back with a dance floor and couches to hang out on that literally took my breath away with the way it had been decorated for the evening. Cherry blossoms were draped across the ceiling and paper cranes were everywhere. We didn't stay long past the first drink since we had plans to be elsewhere but it was a cute place that I'd definitely pop into on another night. read more

When your hosts energy is setting the bar, it's easy to have a great time. Kai and the two other bartenders were patient and kind! Communication was smooth. Once again it's that time of year when the Eleanor turns into the miracle on 5th street. This place is out of a movie, you'll see decor that will make your Terrence your favorite holiday flicks. Great place to take your in-laws or out of town friends and pals . I must say the closer to Xmas it gets the longer the lines get which is so so so annoying. I go early I went on my birthday this year and it was so fun. I ordered the gingerbread drink and the egg nog . Those are my hands down favorite. . Prices are slightly higher than normal austin bars but I think it's not super bad. They are pretty delicious . 5 stars because the bartenders are nice and put up with all the bs from Christmas parties and still keep calm. Also who hates a Christmas bar ?! read more

Miracle on 5th street was an absolutely magical Christmas experience. Even during Covid this was a fully immersive experience from the full sized Ralphie from A Christmas story to the fully decked out themed menus. Our bartender Chris did it big with his combination of hand spin cocktail skills and his dedication to the holiday theme. His outfit was impeccable and his service was unmatched. I was impressed and I'm a self proclaimed grinch. Needless to say, my heart grew 3x's at this event. Well done to the whole staff, leadership, and facilities team who made this a great event. It should also be stated this team was busting their butts to keep everyone safe. Limited capacity reservations/scheduling, plexiglass barriers, and sanitizer stations made it all feel really safe. We hosted a combination rehearsal dinner for 50 people with a welcome party for 130 following thereafter and had an amazing evening! The team at The Eleanor, including Shanna as our coordinator, really went out of their way to make it a special event. The food was complimented by all our guests, the technicians helped us with photo slide show presentation, speeches, etc - and equally impressive was the quick speed at which the team seamlessly moved us from the inner space where we had the dinner, into resetting the entire space for an open party. I checked out the Miracle on 5th street pop up last week since I love anything xmas themed. The Bar was decorated super cute and it really gave the holiday vibe. The highlight for me was that they had the leg lamp and Ralphie from Christmas Story by the window! They had also themed cocktails. I had the Yippy Kay Yay Motherf****** and it was really good! My guest had the Santa Punch, which is a warm drink & he said it was to spice-y for his taste. Just like everybody mentioned the drinks were a bit pricey but it is expected for a pop up bar. This is a little bar next to a much more popular bar. Ambiance was lacking and it felt pretty bare. I think this is where people hang while waiting to get into the much cooler bar next door. Although we didn't do a sit down dinner, there were cocktail tables and couches available for our guests to sit and mingle. The package they offer for food and drinks was perfect for our "cocktail hour" vibe! The drinks they offer are AMAZING. And the best part about this event and the process of booking it/planning it was the manager, Frank Botello. He was so cooperative and professional throughout the process and was genuinely excited to be having us. I have used this space for two events, the most recent was last week. I can not say enough about the venue. It's beautiful, spacious without being overwhelming and conveniently located across from public parking. The drink menu is nothing less than spectacular as is the staff. A shining star in all of it is the manager, Frank. He is helpful, resourceful and flexible. And on top of all of that, he's genuinely nice and funny. I am on the board for a non-profit organization that hosted a cocktail party and awards ceremony at The Eleanor in January. It was our third installment of the event and year over year, the party continues to get bigger and better! While there were a few positives to hosting our event at The Eleanor, unfortunately the weaknesses in management, coordination and attention to detail are reflected in my review. We quoted the venue a final headcount of 240, and ended up with an actual count of 250 attendees. First of all, the GOODS: This venue is beautiful. It requires very little decoration, which is fantastic for events like ours. It is a lovely space, with a variety of gathering opportunities and sets the scene for a really classy and special event. The band that we used was recommended by the venue and was very talented! (Nick Clark Quartet) The drinks are DELICIOUS. The bartenders are professional and the drinks are fantastic. The BADS: Our committee worked very hard to organize a top notch event. Many of our volunteers are professional event planners and knew exactly what obstacles we might face, what guarantees to ensure and what questions to ask the venue. Despite several assurances from Frank that all i's were dotted and t's were crossed, many items fell straight through the cracks. For example: We requested extra bartenders and batched cocktails knowing that our group likes to drink! No one waited less than 20 minutes for a beverage. We had a difficult time getting ahold of the manager the month leading up to the event. The reason they cited was that they were hosting many holiday parties. Perhaps the busy December is a part of why our service was lacking. The food here is extremely disappointing. If you host an event here, I recommend using an outside caterer that can manage food for a large event. The food was not ready on schedule, our menu selections and food requests were not honored, the food that did make it out was sub-par and was not well managed throughout the night. The event staff was still prepping the venue when our guests arrived. This was incredibly embarrassing and involved VIPs having to dodge a ladder in the middle of the main room. It seemed like the staff should have arrived much earlier than they did for the 6pm event start. We paid extra for a professional sound technician for the awards ceremony. Bottom line, no one could hear any of the speakers. We did had guests chit-chatting during the ceremony, but this is to be expected. We were told that the sound technician would be prepared for this. The event venue did not feel comfortable with 250 guests. We were told the venue capacity is 300, but I can't fathom another 50 people in there, as it was extremely cramped. We did our best to work with the venue to discuss the shortcomings we experienced, but even after sharing our guest survey responses with them and calmly expressing our concerns, The Eleanor refused to take responsibility for the issues our group faced, claiming that all was beyond their control. My friends and I went to the Miracle on 5th St Christmas pop up bar that is happening here last night. Let me just say, I was blown away with all of the decorations they had in that place! It was covered in Christmas spirit, even before walking in! The window had Ralphie in his pink bunny pajamas with the classic foot lamp. There was an elf outside checking id's. When you walk in, Santa is standing there to greet you. To the left, in front of the window, is a tree with presents and a nice cozy couch with a coffee table. Along the wall are more couches with blankets and Christmas pillows. The ceiling is covered with presents. The bar was crowded with people, but the wait to get drinks was not that bad. The backroom is set up to be a ski lodge. On the left was a projector playing Christmas movies with a Santa thrown below and presents for a picture moment. There is another bar in the room that does not serve all of the mixed drinks. This is the bar where you can do shots of a ski "shotskis" if you will. They have a good shot, bad shot, and mystery shot that is better than coal as they say. We talked to the bar tender in this room for a little bit. He was very friendly and helpful. This room has bench seats so that it can fit the most people. Upstairs there is another bar and four sections with L couches for lounging. It was a bit smaller, so we didn't stay up there long. I would definitely recommend everyone go to the pop up! It was a lot of fun with tons of opportunities for photos. There were an array of holiday mixed drink options. The only complaint is that the drinks were pricey, but it was expected for an event like this. read more

But it is so much more than just a beautiful space to grab a cocktail... Due to an overseas move, my wife and I had to plan our wedding reception in under three months! Luckily, Frank, the events manager at the Roosevelt Room, was there to help us every step of the way! Communication was fast and easy and Frank helped us take care of details that we didn't have time to plan, including hiring a photographer and taking care of the music during the event. Frank Botello was our contact and he was great at working out the details so the event was exactly what you wanted!
