They had a free crawl fish boil event here and the line was so long it went out the door. People preparing the boil were late on cooking and not prepared. The line was very slow and they let people cut in. Perhaps not entirely the bars fault. The drinks itself were kind of above average price compared to its neighbors. Beer selection was kind of basic and limited. Lots of better bars in the street i would rather return to than this one. read more

I haven't been here in a hot minute. We decided to pop in because they had a crawfish boil event. The bartenders were really quick managing crowd well. The boil organization was pretty poor though. They were over 30 min late for the first drop. Once the first drop happened, the line almost didn't move at all because a bunch of people were cutting in front (they seemed to know people running this event). So they ran out of the stuff super quick and people didn't even get to move in the line much. We decided waiting wasn't worth it and left to a different bar. A total vibe. Good drinks, cool space, pet friendly, and has a photobooth ?!?! I don't need much else tbh We stopped here twice in kne day because we loved it so much! It definitely has a dive bar feel but in a cool and hip way. There is a lot of indoor seating and inside is a bit dim/dark. It's nice and cool though for those hot Texas days. We opted to sit outside though. Outside there's tons of seating though the tables are best shared. We got to know several new friends just by sitting by them. There is a food truck out there so you can get some snacks. The bar also has a wide selection and they do have ciders (win for me). My favorite part is definitely that it's dog friendly on the back patio. I even did a little photobooth shoot with both my pups which made my night. One year from now, I will look back on this review and be like oh man, I knew so little. See, I was just in Austin last weekend and ended up at The Liberty twice. Why? Because we were checking out the apartment complex across the street. Well, we signed a lease, so The Liberty will be in my life more than I can imagine. Especially because I heard East Side King is dope. The Liberty is a little divier than what I like, but I still liked it. I found a credit on the jukebox and played Beastie Boys "Egg Man" which was a fun jukebox find. Good backyard patio. The gem is their happy hour, which we were paying what, $3 a beer? Like I said, I don't know a ton... yet... about The Liberty but so far so good. See you again in April! read more

I finally made my way to the east side bar scene and landed here. I had wanted to check out Liberty after I had accidentally stumbled upon them on my Insta. The bar is divey and has cheap booze. They have seating indoors and outdoors. They have a food truck, East Side King, in the back where you can pick up some eats. I didn't eat there but it did smell amazing. Overall, I had a great experience here and can see myself coming back in the future. They also were 'Rona friendly and keeping things clean from what I could tell. read more

Cool bar with inexpensive beers and a solid happy hour. Bunch of arcade games / pinball machines inside and a sick patio in the back. Loved the ice cold Lonestar tallboys and the food truck in the back called East Side King. Food from East Side King was ridiculously good, though the dudes running it had a bit of an attitude. If they have the Fried Avocado Bun on the menu, do not hesitate getting it. It was one of the best things I ate in Austin while visiting from out of town. Small divey looking entrance out front and really opens up once you get in. Great patio out back! This place really fills up esp on the weekends. They have a decent variety with beers on tap, cocktails, liquor. But honestly all I got was the berry, frozen tequila cocktail. Super refreshing, could easily drink this on the back patio in the day. I've been coming here for a long time now, my original thoughts were mehh,.. MAINLY, because they won't take Amex. But... Here's why my mind has changed. It's a dive bar. For a divey joint it has some amenities. A pool table, good amount of seating. A patio! Plus who doesn't love East Side King which is in the back. The brew is cold, the bar is cheap, and the people behind the bar are awesome. I got into an argument with the new bouncer. I was in a mood, he certainly didn't help it. Next thing I know I'm talking to the bartender trying to get them to let me in... he's always been a great bartender, btw, even since the first time I visited. Turns out, that bartender (Zach) is one of the owners. And he's a such a good guy. I chopped it up with him a little bit, asked him about his approach, and he said quite calmly... right now with COVID--I want to keep my employees safe, and i want to still provide a cool atmosphere for our customers. All in all, he's a pro, treats customers right, and he's just a cool dude... RIGHT NOW, more than ever, we need to be supporting our local businesses, and these guys are on my list. This is a great East Austin bar to visit regularly or visit as a tourist to Austin. Nice chill ambiance both indoors and out, affordable drinks, good musixc, and have I already mentioned how great the bartenders are? They coo. Their almost all day happy hour specials are tough to beat. Nice selection of liquor and cocktails as well. One day I will ask how much for a pour of Pappy. I would describe this bar as "fine." There was a place for us to sit but other than that, it's not a place that we'd go again. No matter that drink you order... you get a vodka soda. I personally do not care for vodka sodas but I ordered multiple different drinks, NONE of which were vodka sodas, and that's still all we got. Never been so bothered at a bar before like Liberty. I was excited even though it was a bit late. 1:30am they were so happy to serve me drinks. When I arrived the front staff didn't let me know right at 1:40am the front bouncer would force you out of the bar make you throw away your drinks and mid game of pool without notice, clear your pool table and tell you to get out.... The frustration is real will not be sticking to other bars like Lucky Duck where they would actually treat you right like a human being..... the bartenders are just fine, but you have to subtract 2 stars for the rotund individual working the door. Absolutely horrible human being. This person should not be the first one that you interact with when entering a bar. If you're losing business, start with this human and work back through the customer adventure. Apparently the bar has been a neighborhoods haunt for quite a while and people swear by it. The condos in the area were built around the bar. The service is terrible. Do not use your debit/credit card here. They overcharge for terrible drinks, no matter what drink you order they just give u vodka soda or whisky coke. There's always extra added to the tip or the drinks.. 6.50 for Lonestar beer for ex. They keep your card and you have to ask for it back at the end if not they will keep it and you have to pick it up the next day even though it was their mistake in the first place. Happy hour deals are a nice incentive on already affordable drinks. They have a pool table, which was not monopolized, an outdoor area out back with picnic tables and tunes and the patrons were friendly, which makes a difference in the desire to come back. A bit of a hole in the wall bar in East Austin where you need to be slightly careful of where you step whether sober or in a drunken stupor - whether it's the steps between the bar area and the seating room next door, the exit out to the back patio or through the stone as you work your way to the East Side Kings trailer. Bar has a pretty extensive list of beers and other beverages - order there and carry back to elsewhere. Second room has a pool tables and some seating (either high tops or these booths with worn seats). There are also televisions showing sports or other things. In the back there is a patio flanked by two massive condo complexes - nothing like drinking in someone's backyard. East Side Kings trailer has great bar food - get some pork belly buns and some rice and chicken. Mmm good. read more

A bar that is definitely a true staple to Austin. Bartending staff is amazing and hawt af tbh. Have a exceptional size patio in the back with also a great food truck with affordable prices. If this is your first time coming here, make sure you check out the happy hour from 4pm-9pm it is ALWAYS worth it! Might I add that The Liberty team ensures everyone wears masks and to keep social distancing as long as you are with the group you came with.
