Okay. Never even knew about this place. But ya, this is a cool bar. It's like dark inside like something you'd see in a shady movie. And then the patio outside has a large covered area. And an open area, and it just feels like Austin. (IYKYK) So the bar is pretty large. And there's a U shaped couch seating with tables along the walls. Of course bar seating around the bar too. When I arrived around 7pm, they were still doing happy hour. I ordered a frozen Shirley Temple with vodka, and wow! Was that good. It's just in a machine they pour and top it with a cherry. Everyone saw my drink, and the whole group ran in to get one too. It was $4.00! Delicious drink. I would totally fight SXSW traffic on a Friday night for that drink again. Bartender was outstanding. We chatted for a few seconds. And when I gave him my card to open a tab, he laughed. My credit card looks like a blockbuster card. So we talked about the good Ol' days of Blockbuster. Inside and out, the bar was awesome. Had a great night. Was nice to see everyone come out and mingle and catch up. Parking is a little tight, and the parking lot is like a bowl. This is a divey dive bar, and a cool place to have a drink and listen to some perfectly bad karaoke. To be fair, eventually a younger crowd came over from the Emo's show and a couple singers were in the house. For me, karaoke is supposed to be bad, so I'm good either way. Drinks were pretty good. Right now they have a themed takeover which was fun! There are pool tables inside. Some rowdy guys came in and took pool way too seriously. I'm guessing they were regulars because they seemed to know the staff. I guess I could have moved away from them and their behavior but it was late so I took off instead. The outdoor area between The Copperhead and The Jackelope looked like a fun place to hang out. A basketball game from the arcade and some other backyard games. Turf so you're not eating dust all night. If it had been warmer outside, then I would have played out there some. read more

This is probably a pretty good place. But on the day this review was written, 10/16/2025, I encountered one bartender who was hostile, nasty, and doing his best to make me leave. I most certainly did leave - so he got his wish. The rest of the bartending team seems to be decent - So I think the problem is just this one guy. * * * I show up at the bar - to find one bartender making an absolutely superlative looking complex libation in a punchbowl large enough for a table. His mixmastering looked superlative. So I wanted an individual sized drink from this guy ... And I was totally willing to wait for this guy - no matter how much time he would need before he was free. Bartender 2 - the nasty one - shows up and asks me what I want. I explain that I am waiting for the other bartender. He does not like that response. Ninety seconds later he shows up and asks me what I want again - a little more loudly and firmly. Once again, I explain that I am waiting for the other bartender and I am in no rush. I am willing to wait for as long as it takes. He REALLY does not like that answer. The third time he comes back and lays down the law. WHAT DO YOU WANT? Okay - I was obviously not going to be allowed to wait. Very well "Okay - what kind of complex beverage could you work up for me?' "YOU - get straight whiskey!" I am not used to bartenders intentionally giving the customer the exact opposite of what he or she orders. But there is a first time for everything. I forced myself to order out of one of his bottles. And fair is fair - he did give me a generous pour. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EAT? I want your simple hot dog. He pulls out the menu eyes brimming with hostility ... and reads me the four hot dogs that are on the menu. One of them is a simple hot dog. I knew because I had read the menu. I explained to him that I had already told him the first one is what I wanted. He wasn't happy but he rang it up. I sat for a few minutes watching the football game, With the alcoholic beverage I did not want but was forced to order. I couldn't stand it any more. Just as the hot dog came, I was back at the bar - closing my tab and leaving. I had had two sips of my drink and had not touched the hot dog. I explained the whole story to the first bartender. The first bartender was really nice and tried to make amends. But at that point I wanted out. I paid my tab and off I went. * * * How is Copperhead net of this one particularly contentious individual? a) The rest of the bartending staff seems both friendly and skilled. b) Copperhead is a "two headed bar" sharing a common space with Jackalope across the courtyard. The same kitchen serves both places and the same menu is available in each. c) The main indoor room of Copperhead has a bad funky smell. I did not like being inside. The outer porch and the courtyard between the two bars are perfectly lovely. d) There were lots of people having a very good time here. Under other circumstances - this could have been a fun evening. * * * The management team at Copperhead/Jackalope seems to have put together a good product. Employees who think "The Customer Is Always Wrong" undercut the work that management is doing. read more

We're not sure what the bar looks like normally, but decorations of mermaid skeleton, full-on shark jaws and other tiki decor were kitschy in a fun and appealing way. However, the bar itself is quite large inside and a bit empty on a Wednesday night. Inside the music is so loud it is quite difficult to have a conversation. The outdoor space is appealing, but, unfortunately, the night we came was very cold without any heating. Drinks varied - mocktail list is very limited; tiki drinks were hit or miss. The main bartender was very disrespectful to me. I was trying to approach a girl that I recognized although I don't think she recognized me because I cut my long hair off. As I approached he told me that he want to talk to me. When I tried to explain myself he cut me off as told me he didn't care. Then told me to "get the fuck out". I admit I acted out of character and exchanged some words before leaving. I walked back in to close my tab before I left and he cussed at me some more and started to call the police. I've never had a problem with him before and even though he was a nice guy. The other bartender told me that he was just having a bad day. I've had some pretty bad days myself and didn't find it necessary to be nasty to other people to vent my frustration. Especially not in the service industry. I won't be returning. read more

A friend and I went to the Jackalope before an event and really loved the food and the vibe. After the event we decided to try the Copperhead club. It was really interesting especially when you see it's connected to the Jackalope. The place has a cool atmosphere and there was a DJ playing awesome oldies music. My issue was that I ordered 3 mixed drinks and one non alcoholic Liquid Death flavored water and my tab was almost $40. I ordered the 3 mixed drinks on my first trip to the bar. The second trip was just the one flavored water with a cup of ice. At the end of the night after we left -I was able to see the different transactions as they were originally rung up each time before they actually get totaled up. A non alcoholic beverage cost $14!!! I have tried to call the number on the receipt to Copperhead and it's an incorrect number. I can't seem to find an email address for them so I reached out on their Facebook page by sending a message on messenger. The message isn't able to go through. At this point I'm tired of trying to find out why a non alcoholic beverage would cost $14. Just be mindful to inquire about prices or get an itemized receipt. I failed to do both so I have learned my lesson. read more

Our visit here was very short and unpleasant. Our group walked in around dinner time to grab a bite to eat. It was very confusing if we were supposed to seat ourselves or not and after feeling the low-key vibe, we sat in a booth. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and a few groups surrounding the bar. The bartenders looked over at us Several times but never once acknowledged our presence. Instead they kept socializing with others there. I understand if it's busy and they're doing their jobs, but this didn't feel like the case. It seemed they could care less we were there. We weren't sure if we should go up to the bar to order but after them looking us several times and never helping us or prompting us to do something, we eventually left after about 10 minutes of this. It came off very rude (and I feel I'm one to be pretty understanding in restaurants). It just didn't seem very hospitable and would have appreciated someone at least acknowledging us as we walk in instead of seeing us and going on about their day. Unfortunately, would not recommend unless increasing more hospitality. read more

Ok. We've been to this joint (which is just a redux of Jackalope on dirty 6th) a few times, mainly to have a few drinks before a show at Emos. And I write this in hopes the owner/GM sees it and can figure out how to sand down the very rough edges of their bartenders and staff. Yes-- the food is SALTY as fuck but the service is more SALTY! When we got to the bar this past Friday -- before we even walked into the joint, a super surly bartender opened the door and shouted at us to 'not park in that lot!' When I informed him we actually just got dropped off by an Uber homeboy said 'oh' and then closed the door in our face without saying another word to us! "Welcome to Copperhead I guess". And THAT was the best part of the service , it went downhill from there. We ended up in the Jackalope side of the bar after that nonsense and it was worse. Bartenders were so busy taking shots with their friends and 'chitchatting' they couldn't be bothered to take our order or money -- despite being pretty slow. When they did finally bother to acknowledge our group and take our order... the got ONE out of 5 drinks right. Why? Because they weren't paying attention and we're more worried about their conversation with their friends. When we told them our order was wrong she huffed in our face , which was in fact the most interaction she actually gave us! I give this place 2 stars ONLY cause there isn't much else around that void of Riverside. But would never ever go here if I wasn't going to Emos afterwards. read more
