    Tiki takeover

This is a divey dive bar, and a cool place to have a drink and listen to some perfectly bad karaoke. To be fair, eventually a younger crowd came over from the Emo's show and a couple singers were in the house. For me, karaoke is supposed to be bad, so I'm good either way. Drinks were pretty good. Right now they have a themed takeover which was fun! There are pool tables inside. Some rowdy guys came in and took pool way too seriously. I'm guessing they were regulars because they seemed to know the staff. I guess I could have moved away from them and their behavior but it was late so I took off instead. The outdoor area between The Copperhead and The Jackelope looked like a fun place to hang out. A basketball game from the arcade and some other backyard games. Turf so you're not eating dust all night. If it had been warmer outside, then I would have played out there some.

I thought this place looked really cool and fun but it was kind of the exact opposite. Staff couldn't really seemed to be bothered waiting on us. The whole vibe was unwelcoming. Looks can be deceiving I guess.

This place looked cool at first, we walked in as a group of 5 and there weren't very many people inside. The staff looked at us, then looked back down at their phones. They didn't say anything or aknowledge our presence. We were very disappointed with the way they treated us and eventually walked out without ordering anything.

The Copperhead Club is where Honky-Tonk happenings and adult beverage dreams come true. Ok, you had me at $2.00, Lone Star! Thirsty Thursday, no more The Copperhead Club is offering my favorite $2.00 Lone Star's every Thursday in August! A relaxed atmosphere where you are greeted with a smile and served ice-cold cocktails. Let's remember the mouthwatering menu! They have something for everyone, from outstanding burgers to delicious sandwiches and even WINGS. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even turn a salad into a "wrap" word- not a rock-roll... HAHA. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays all day. To stay on trend with the burgers, I ordered the Smash Burger and made it a double with cheese and a side of bacon for my sweet pup, Oliver Dale. "Dogs are welcome." And, of course, I ordered seasoned waffle fries; it was a hard choice between the tots and onion rings. One of the marvelous smash burgers in Austin!! My thirsty Thursday friend ordered the Jack salad and wrapped it up with chicken tenders and buffalo sauce; he lives on the edge. What can I say? Feel like living on the edge after six or more $2.00 Lone Star's, walk or stagger across the back patio and venture into Jackalope for a thrilling photo opportunity on top of the giant Jackalope, or show off your rockstar vocals at Showpony, the karaoke lounge. Make sure to check out the event calendar at https://jackalopebar.com. Take advantage of Tuesday Steak Nights, Drag Brunch, a full-moon market, or an adorable dog race. Brilliant Dining!

Off tops this place gets praise for ambiance. It's a bar but also live music venue and a cool adult fun play place with corn hole, pool, basketball, and plenty room for dancing. The vibe is upbeat and fun. They do serve food. Typical bar menu, nothing that stood out for me but it came to the table hot and it wasn't gross. If someone asked me on a date here I'd be pleased.

If you are looking for a cool dive bar with great food, this is the place to be. The bartenders provide great service. Justin is amazing and cooler than most bartenders. He will take care of you. Steak night is worthy and the brussel sprouts are the best I ever had. If you are in South Austin, you definitely need to stop by. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended

Great local bar with good music playing. It's not blasting so you can have a good conversation. Drinks are on par with other establishments.

The vibe is effortlessly retro, with warm lighting, vintage stripes, cozy booths, and a playlist full of R&B and soul that sets the tone for a laid-back night. I came in for happy hour (which goes until 8pm--major win) and had the Tropical Depression, a passion fruit hurricane-style cocktail that was way better than its name implies. Their frozen drinks are also a hit--flavorful, strong, and dangerously easy to sip. They also do Jell‑O shots if you're feeling nostalgic (or just want something cheap and fun). The bar is small but super welcoming, with a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The patio is shaded and breezy, perfect for summer nights. There's even a pool table and a big screen outside if you're into low-key games or catching part of the game. Staff was friendly and efficient--shout out to the bartenders who kept the drinks flowing without any attitude. That said, it's a small space, so depending on the night, it can feel either perfectly mellow or a little too quiet. Not a party bar, but a great pre-game or chill hangout spot. If you're looking for a low-key lounge with strong drinks, good tunes, and an easygoing crowd, Low Down Lounge should definitely be on your East Side rotation.

You've got to climb one of the staircases to get up here to this bar that's perched above the street level. My gripe is that, as far as I can tell, there's no accessible way in for a wheelchair. There's only lots of stairs. Inside, you'll often find cool bands playing out on the back patio, or a DJ spinning on the inside. The place is a chill vibe with a Phil Collins drink special. (Insert drum solo here). The staff was attentive and kept the drinks flowing. The place is clean, and it's nice to be able to literally look down upon the barflies outside of Hotel Vegas. As far as I can tell, this bar doesn't have any air conditioning to speak of. It's hot. But, the beers are cold. The back patio that's covered will give a breeze.

The baby shower was held at The Cavalier ATX on a small patio sectioned off from the main bar. The staff was very attentive without being too intrusive. The drink menu was a hit with guests, and the bar provided a creative mocktail for the mommy-to-be, which was a nice touch. You walk in and immediately know you are not in some polished Instagram cocktail lounge. It is loud, a little gritty, and full of people who are clearly there to have a good time and not pretend otherwise. The beer is cold, the Lone Star flows like Texas water, and the vibe is pure old school Austin. And yes, the legendary bathroom situation deserves its own paragraph. The men's room features a giant ice filled trough for a urinal, which feels like something out of a 1970s roadside saloon documentary. Somehow it is both ridiculous and perfectly on brand. It actually becomes a conversation starter because you walk out laughing and immediately tell your friends they have to see it and go pee. The crowd was friendly, the bartenders were quick with the beers, and nobody was taking themselves too seriously. I ended up staying longer than planned, drinking Lone Stars and talking to random people like we had known each other for years. If you want craft cocktails served with a rosemary sprig this is not your place. If you want a hilarious, slightly chaotic, authentically divey night in Austin with cheap beer and great stories, Dirty Bill's absolutely delivers. Five stars and I would go back in a heartbeat.
