We came here for dinner not long ago. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. Food arrived quickly. However the "Philly Cheesesteak" that my friend ordered ended up being chopped-up hamburger patties placed inside of a wedge (see picture). If the kitchen staff didn't have steak strips available, they could have just told us so. No big deal. I've never been here for breakfast. I'm willing to give it a try on a Sunday morning sometime in the near future. Below are some simple suggestions to make the diner look more professional; especially since it's located in the North Stamford area: * The door entrance and desk would appear more tidy if there were far fewer photos cluttering the area. No photos at all would be ideal. * The restroom sink faucets are corroded and the stall doors have a lot of chipped red paint. It reminded me of a NYC subway station bathroom. * Most of the seating booths in the diner had a tacky sign posted on them that said "Cash Tips are Greatly Appreciated. That's just unnecessary and somewhat unhospitable.

"Nobody looked any finer Or was more of a hit at the Parkway Diner We never knew we could want more than that out of life" (Billy Joel) Our Parkway Diner Dinner was very good. The gent that waited on us was very friendly and helpful. He checked back a few times but was never intrusive. Parkway's menu is very impressive with plenty of full dinner entrees (beef, chicken, fish, pastas, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and breakfast choices. Definitely something for everyone. We had two salads for dinner, each was $15.95. The Chinatown Express included a teriyaki chicken breast, mandarin oranges, sliced almonds, and tortilla chips. My Chicken Fajita Salad included a very generous portion of sliced chicken breast, olives, shredded jack cheese, tomatoes, peppers and tortilla chips. I passed on the blue cheese dressing and asked for salsa instead. That was a good choice because their salsa was good and really complemented a delicious salad. The only thing I noticed about Parkway was that some of their pricing is quite high. Here are some examples: some omelets are $17, some pancakes are $17 and $18, Nachos and a chicken quesadilla are $18, soups are $8 or $9, club sandwiches are $18, Linguine Fra Diavolo with seafood is $33, Fish & chips is $30, coffee is $4, and chocolate milk is $4.50. Stamford is Stamford, so high end pricing can be expected. But in all fairness, my salad was reasonably priced and sure had a lot of chicken in it.

We walked into Parkway Diner mid morning on a Friday on a whim with a group of about 20 people ... Parkway diner did not hesitate to accommodate our group, and did so with ease. Everyone seemed happy with their meal. I thoroughly enjoyed The Holly Special. Bathrooms are small- reminded me of being on a train. Otherwise, the diner was clean and the staff was incredibly nice.

We got there and sat down immediately. Service was nothing special, but the waiter was pleasant. I ordered the lunch special smash burger, which was very tasty. I also ordered the calamari, which was slightly salty but had great flavor. The pizza was very good as well, but when it came to the dessert (cheesecake and chocolate gelato), they weren't that good and left a bad aftertaste. We asked our waiter if it could be taken off the menu, so he went to get the manager. The manager came to the table and explained why we should like the desserts and that no one complains since the chefs are from Brooklyn and the cheesecake is made in-house. He was very reluctant to take these items off the menu. Everyone has different palates, so why are you talking as if I'm supposed to like it since everyone else does? This didn't sit well with me, and the vibe was off from there. We liked the food, but it wasn't worth the hype around it. Our waiter was still pleasant through it all.

Then someone who was sitting at the bar came to give us menus and said to sit anywhere. We finally sat and a waitress named Gabby came took our orders. I ordered a Steak salad no mushrooms sweet potato fries and the person I was with got a hot oil pizza. Pretty easy. Well waitress brought out the pizza and I waited and waited and waited, no salad no fries. I asked the waitress where my salad was she said she was going to check on it, never happened she then went to tables and started to take orders. I was getting frustrated and my friends pizza was now cold as she was waiting for me. After waiting for about 10 mins I went to the bar and explained to the bartender and she went to check and came out with my food. Not once did the waitress come to check on us. My salad was suppose to have tomatoes which it did not. I flagged down the waitress and asked her and she said she would bring some right out once again I waited and waited by that time my friends pizza was soggy and she said it didn't even taste that great. As I waiting I was eating the sweet potato fries and ate some of the salad but it was literally just lettuce, onion, Gorgonzola and steak, I wanted those tomatoes. I asked her yet again and she said she would get them then attended to other tables so I just started to eat my salad. I was finished had my salad plate empty at the end of the table then FINALLY a gentleman brought out a plate of tomatoes I told him I didn't need them and I finished my food and he replied "she just told me" I told him I asked her for them 20 minutes ago. Very disappointed I did speak to the bartender and leave some feedback not sure if it made its way to whoever but I appreciate her helping

When I walked in, the place was packed--which I initially took as a good sign. Busy usually means good food and good service. I was seated at a small two-top in the back blocking the counter seating, which was already tight for a meeting with paperwork. As the lunch crowd began to clear out, the table next to me opened up. I started to move my materials to give us a bit more space for the meeting. At that point, a waitress approached me in a very abrupt and unpleasant tone and said, "Where do you think you're going?" I explained that the table had just become available and that I needed the space for a business meeting. She immediately shut me down, saying, "No, you're not. That's a four-person table and you're only two." It was around 2:00 p.m., the restaurant was already emptying out, and they close at 3:00 p.m., so the response felt unnecessary and frankly rude. I told her she didn't need to be so nasty--I had no idea there were strict rules about not moving to an empty table in a nearly empty restaurant. I stayed where I was because the only other available tables were even more cramped for 2 people, and at least I had space to set my pocketbook and paperwork on a stool next to me instead of the floor. Unfortunately, the experience got worse. When my client arrived, 215pm, we were largely ignored for service even though the restaurant was nearly empty at that point. Food was basic. My takeaway: unless you enjoy being packed into tight seating, dealing with extremely unprofessional and unfriendly staff, struggling to get service, I would not recommend this place. Hospitality and courtesy go a long way, and sadly both were missing here.
