Passing through late Sunday afternoon and hopped off highway for gas and something nice to eat. Found the Ridges by chance on OpenTable and say it was right down the street. Very glad we stopped. We needed a nice break from traffic and this was a nice treat. Unassuming place in a strip mall but the interior is nice. We were underdressed as we weren't planning on coming here but the waiter was friendly and promised to help get us back on the road quickly! Will focus on the entrees as we didn't linger. She had filet special. Cooked perfectly and she felt as good as anywhere we've been. Gluten free choices easy and waiter said the chef could accommodate her for any dish. I had pork chop which was huge, juicy and delicious. Mashed potatoes were also very good but a little stickier and thin than I prefer. Food amazing. Prices are NOT cheap, and certainly in line to above average what we'd expect to pay for a meal like this at places we get to more often. So really great food & service, and prices reflect that. If closer to home we'd probably be back for a special occasion. read more

Don't be fooled by location!! When we pulled up to this restaurant we were a little skeptical, not going to lie. It's in a shopping center next to Supercuts. Peeking through the window we saw a quaint , romantic room , crisp white table cloths, flower as a centerpiece and a Caymus bottle on every table. We were now curious. Greeted by the owner Leon who walked us through a very nice wine list ,higher end then most local restaurants in Stamford. Explained the purpose of Caymus that was to represent a special bottle at $140 for restaurant week. (Even though Stamford doesn't allow his eatery to be on the list participating in restaurant week because it's not downtown. ) Shame on you Stamford ! A real bummer for Leon but impressive that he still had specials for his customers. Food was delicious, highly recommend the escargot appetizer, and the Shishito peppers with one of the steaks listed. We tried the Tomahawk and filet mignon perfectly cooked and served by the waiters. Service was great, bartender very helpful in finding and tasting wine. Last mention , the chef was offering a special tasting menu this week which was a great touch and perfect way to order. That is what I did. I think it should be incorporated as part of there everyday with wine paring just my opinion. It's a great way to taste different things when you don't know what to order. A steak house in Stamford that delivers. We have been here several times for holidays birthdays and just a night out. We have tried fish steaks salads and soup, all outstanding. The Cesar is perfect. The onion soup also perfection. I am a filet person and find the steak on par with some of the best steak houses. They have a lobster pasta that my husband and I split and it was phenomenal. Where do I even begin. Extremely overpriced, especially for what it is! Stale potato chips instead of bread as an hors d'oeuvre, the "champagne" they serve is "Josh" for $16 a glass (which is the price of the entire bottle). We had undercooked food and besides the bartender who was extremely friendly the service was indifferent. They put the one huge ice cube in the cocktails so they can serve as little as possible. Just what High Ridge Road needed! This newly opened steakhouse offers upscale dining with handcrafted cocktails and an incredible menu. Perfect spot for celebrations, special occasions, and a night out. The roasted chicken was so juicy and perfect paired with the polenta. The strip steak was cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were so creamy and buttery! I've been a few times now and can't wait to come back again and try more of their menu. read more

I came here for a business dinner. I'll just say I live in KC, which has great steak. I had the Tomahawk, which was cooked in an oil that left an aftertaste. Here's the problem, if you're going to have a restaurant in a strip mall, you need to have a superior experience. For the price, it did not meet expectations. Honestly, the steak was worse than a chain. This could be due to regional variation. If you like a mild tasting, mildly seasoned, reasonably tough steak, this is the place for you. read more

This restaurant is new located at the McKenzies site which was a nice bar/restaurant whose food was just ok. Here the vibe is very nice. low-key music playing very pretty place. Seating was good. Service was OK. And the food was good - hence 3 stars. But... 1-there are no vegetarian options. There is one salad on the menu with no meat. I went with that and with a side of asparagus it was ok. when we commented to the waiter, he laughed and said this is a steakhouse not a veggie house. not a good response. Every restaurant usually has some option for a vegetarian. 2-my wife ordered a special 'Dover Sole' which was presented as a full fish and they filleted it at the table a nice touch. She said it was delicious but there was no vegetable side with it. The bill came - the fish alone was $72! Save your money!! I just don't get this place. Went to this white tablecloth establishment knowing I shouldn't judge based on a Fed ex, Verizon and Supercuts being neighbors in this strip mall. Should have gone with my instincts. Service was awful- guy acted like he was doing us a huge favor. Drinks were so overpriced and beyond substandard. Waited way too long for the food and it was pathetic. Potato chips instead of bread? Another reviewer said the bread was stale- so they got lazy Instead of fixing the problem? Pros: Steaks were delicious, wine list was excellent and the service was professional and courteous. Cons: Room is very loud (echo-y, no carpet so the sound bounces around, could definitely use some sound-mitigating devices on ceiling and under tables), also the setting is going for upscale steakhouse but some of the finishes are just not there (walls are scuffed and have old paint marks, the mat when you first walk in looks dirty/linty, bathrooms feel kind of grungy) so that missed the mark a bit. If they invest a little in making the space feel cleaner and nicer it would go a long way. Overall: would probably go back, but not quite up to a fine dining experience. read more

I dined at The Ridges last night with my wife, for our 27th wedding anniversary - I assumed that it might be good based on the reviews. It did not disappoint. I would say it's basically in the same class as Capital Grill and Blackstones. The quality of the food was superb and the service was excellent. However it is very expensive. Hard for me to say it's "over priced " because the restaurant industry is rough right now ... but some of the prices for sides, drinks and wine by the bottle are very steep. I went there opening night. This is an attempt to turn what was a local bar eatery into a high end steak house. The inside was remodeled and was done very nicely. After that it was all down hill from there. Based on my experience it seem like they they opened a bit prematurely. They May not have done much thought into the location and how to setup peoples expectations. There was no online footprint yet. I had to add this establishment in YELP. People spontaneously walking in there and expecting to find a local place to get some comfort food will be disappointed. This is an attempt to add a fine dining, high end steak house on High Ridge Road. Appetizers and sides start at $10, main courses closer to $50. Steak for 2 $110, Tomahawk for 2 $105. Our meal: Bread was either stale, or this being the first night was sliced hours prior and was dry and cold. Onion soup, onions weren't caramelized and still were crunchy. The the one mistake I was shocked by it was made with CHICKEN stock. When I brought this to the managers attention he too had No idea that onion soup is made with beef stock. They did take it off our check. We ordered the porterhouse for 2 medium rare plus. The steak came out at room temperature. They server tried to sear the already overcooked steak on a Luke warm platter. The strip side was med/well and the filet was extremely well done. The steak was dry had no juices running out of it and lacked flavor. It was also relatively small portion for a steak for 2. My side dish, garlic mashed potatoes. If I was blind flooded and did a taste test I would have guessed a baked potato without toppings. It seems like there was No garlic, butter, milk, or cream in the potatoes. If I had to guess they were just plain white potatoes that had been mashed. We decided to cut our losses and not even attempt dessert. read more

We were there last night. Aside from the difficulty with being short on staff (which could happen to anyone), it is priced like Capitol Grille. Particularly shocking to think one would try to compete with Capitol Grille without something special, which was clearly not apparent. It is very expensive and and really great. Calamari was quite good, the Caesar Salad was also quite good. We met some friends who were just leaving as we were entering. They told us they were very disappointed in the fish and the "rack of lamb" was not really a "rack" but a lamb shank. Because of that, I did not order the lamb. Also, food was very slow coming out of the kitchen... may a staffing issue or maybe not. Could not tell. In any event, I think once was enough. If they don't change the menu and pricing we are a one and done. Disappointed! read more

We dined at The Ridges about a month after its opening. It has promise, though it is currently short staffed. The food was tasty but expensive. The Ridges is approximately 1,000 times better than its predecessor. I wish them well as they work out the kinks and create a value proposition that differentiates them from their competitors. I waited to try this new restaurant out and when I did, I came away very impressed. Service is good, food is better. Best onion soup in Fairfield and the steaks are first rate. Aged to perfection with a nice crust. Just the way the "Peter Lugers" of the world do them. A+++. Been there now like 10 times and the consistency is impressive. I will say this, it's quiet at lunch so they reacted and the new lunch menu is terrific and reasonably priced. Take your first plunge then. Smart move on their part. A ribeye steak sandwich for the price of a burger elsewhere - perfect. Oh, and it's really good by the way. I look forward to exploring more options like Chilean Sea Bass and others but I just can't get beyond ordering the steak and onion soup! They've hit their stride all! read more

We went to The Ridges for lunch, and the wait time was maybe 20-30 seconds. They seem somewhat understaffed, but we were seated quickly and the waiter, who seemed to be the owner to me, was nice enough. We started off with water, bread and two calamari apps. The water didn't have a great taste to it, maybe from the glass, while the bread was warm but extremely dry. The calamari was pretty flavorful but a touch over cooked, the sauces that accompanied the calamari were delicious. I ordered an 8oz filet mignon which I had high hopes for from the website and their pride in the steaks they cook. The meat quality is a touch better than Capital Grille, but is extremely flavorless, dry, chewy and yet somehow oily. No sauce or glaze to accompany the steak, and no hints of flavor that I noticed. I ordered the steak medium well, but it was well done, through and through colorless. The prices of our meal shocked me, we had one steak, two apps, two ice creams and one espresso for lunch, the bill after tip came out to 140 dollars which is about the same as most of the true fine dining establishments around this area, but the ambiance is not there. The decor and overall dining floor construction feels rushed and not elegant. I wish more thought was put into the design of the restaurant as well as the menu and it's pricing. read more

I've been to this place 5+ times and I can't figure the food out. I've observed thick cuts of meat which smell great, and witnessed thin pieces of bone-in ribeye's which look like they're from the local TGIChilibees (and cooked better). The appetizers and lunch menu have been consistently good, if not a bit overpriced. However you're playing roulette with the dinner menu. If you're gonna charge $11 for a side of onion rings, they better not be frozen from the local super market. They better be some handcut joints. Same thing with the pastas and salads, something worthwhile needs to justify the cost. Went to the Ridges for dinner. Restaurant was busy. The restaurant is small but decorated nicely. We ordered the burrata, oysters and tuna tartare. All were very good. For dinner I ordered the Fillet mignion and mashed potatoes. My husband got salmon. All were very good. The mashed potatoes were warm but not piping hot but I still enjoyed them. (No sides on either, of course) Menu choices were boring to boot with little variety if you don't want an over priced streak, and nothing unique or appetizing in descriptions. We left. This is strip mall, Not Ruth's Chris. Bring the Irish or sports bar back. If people want fancy, they go to pound ridge or farmhouse, or downtown. They should start over with entire new menu of much more variety and price points to be the go to spot when you're not in the mood for Mexican, Asian, or BBQ. Or go Greek / Mediterranean with great selection kabobs and salads. Either of those would at least fill a gap of current choices for North Stamford. Absolutely amazing. Finally have a fine dining in North Stamford. Great atmosphere, incredible food, top notch quality and very reasonable pricing. Owners are hands on and strive to make every detail the finest quality. They clearly know what they are doing. Great seafood and steaks, flavors are fantastic. Nothing but high marks here. Lived in Stamford 40+ years and Ridges brings a great breath of fresh air into the area. Drinks are top shelf; service is impeccable, and they did an amazing job of having an upscale bar with the games on while preserving the fine dining experience. Business casual dress is perfectly fine. This is a great place for the family, business lunches and special events. Just found out they have a happy hour! Going back soon. read more
