Park Hyatt is such a lauded and trusted brand in our household. We've stayed at 7 other Park Hyatts in other countries and have always loved our experiences. This was the first time we booked one in the U.S. and it felt like a totally different chain. From the lackluster service to the uninspired decor in our room; the usual "WOW" factor I associate with the Park Hyatt brand was replaced with more of a "Huh?" factor. It's hard to narrow down what the biggest miss was, but ultimately the lack of genuine friendliness was probably the most notable difference. There was only one lady who worked the desk who would give a friendly acknowledgment. For all the other employees, it was like we were ghosts. As far as the room was concerned, it didn't feel Park Hyatt caliber. We got a suite and both windows faced a brick wall and there were multiple instances where our room reeked of sewage. We alerted the hotel to this issue and housekeeping opened the windows for us and put in a fan/ air purifier. It helped, but the smell came back. The decor in the room was uninspired. It was like a cherry blossom meets DC Craftsman and it was a bit puzzling. The suite had seen better days I'm sure, but there was just so many indications that this room needs a refresh. The blinds in our bedroom were mounted unevenly and there were holes in some of the wallpaper. The housekeeping did the worst job out of pretty much any hotel stay of any chain. They didn't bother to wipe down the sink in our bathroom and we had rings from where the water had dried along with diluted toothpaste dotting our counter throughout our stay. There was also no towel rack or hook in the powder room, so once you washed your hands, there was no place to dry out the towel used to dry your hands. I don't think I've ever seen that at any hotel. This is pie in the sky, but this Park Hyatt needs to do an exchange program and send some of their team to other PHs abroad to get a sense of what level those properties are operating at. Staying at a Park Hyatt is such a special treat and I still cannot believe how hollow this experience was. It was such a let down and while I still hold the Park Hyatt in very high esteem and respect, this location is an outlier and I hope not indicative of the chain in other American cities.

Service: 5* Ambience: 5* Food: 5* Price: 3* Stayed in a junior suite (room #616) during a meeting. The room was very well proportioned. Ample living room space which was comfortable, cozy, and relaxing. The bedroom was very nice as well, very comfortable and well sized. The bathroom was huge! Wet shower and bathtub area that was nice and great small walk in closet. The air conditioning worked well (other than my first room #630) and it was very comfortable to enjoy my time in the room. There was a comfy chair, c@a more rigid couch, and good desk setup in the living room area. I would return.

My first time staying at a Park Hyatt hotel and glad I stayed here! I'm a Globalist and they graciously upgraded me to a park junior suite and provided a rollaway bed at no charge too. The front desk clerks were all so friendly and just knew we were going to have a good stay. The Junior suite was very modern looking and was very happy with the room. They even stopped by later and provided us some chocolates. There were two bottles of water in the room and after we came back from dinner in their lobby restaurant, they provided us more water! Their bathroom like many have reviewed here is so neat. That shower is huge but it is way too open though. And some of the tiles were broken. But one thing the echo in the bathroom is quite loud, meaning you will hear every noise in the bedroom or suite. An enclosed room for toilet would help remedy this. Smaller tv and like it can swivel between bedroom and living room. Be cool if their window drapes can open and close with a switch but it's manual. Gym and pool you have to take elevator to third floor and then take the stairs. Pool is very nice and is a saltwater pool and has a large hot tub too. It's a nice space. See my dinner review Blue Duck Tavern located inside this hotel too. There is a CVS and Walgreens around the block if you need anything.

The best hotel I've stayed at by far! Upon arrival, we were upgraded to suite, which entailed a living room, a bedroom, a walk in closet/bathroom combination, and tons of complimentary perks, including slippers. I received a text message also from the concierge people letting me know that I could request anything or ask anything via text to make the process more streamlined. I asked if I could be provided two spoons (for coconuts), and the next thing I know it, two spoons were sent up! What attracted me the most to this was their luxury feel and tea cellar. They have a variety of teas from around the world in their tea parlor. One pot can be shared with two people and you could also request honey. On Sunday afternoon, they also have afternoon tea with pastries and two tea pots from 3-4 pm. This place includes a jacuzzi, a pool, and a variety of study spots perfect for a relaxing environment. If you end up getting the suite, I highly recommend bringing a bath bomb! They have a great bath tub for a lovely evening for two. I'm definitely having another staycation here! This place, in terms of the hotel itself, beats Tyson Corner Ritz Carlton.

Loved staying here. Exceptional costumer service. You feel like you're walking into a regal art museum. Helpful staff. Used FHR benefits. Bathroom is wonderful and they even use Le Labo products which are top tier! One drawback is the bed seemed to be outdated and springy. Could probably use an update. Would totally stay here again!

This is a beautiful hotel that has an Eastern theme in the art and the restaurant and bar. It is located in Foggy Bottom and very close to businesses and Georgetown University. The staff were very pleasant and provided great service with my luggage. However, there are stairs at the entrance and did not see a ramp for the disabled and folks with a lot of luggage. That was a big downfall. The rooms are beautiful but the design of the bathroom was different. It is an open concept for everything. The shower/tub is completely open on tile floor. There are no hand rails, which made me very nervous about how I stepped in the tile floor (which was slippery with the soapy water). Also, the closet is near the toilet. However, there is a farmers door that slides to cover it, but it also is for closing off the bathroom. You have to choose one or the other, It was convenient for my conference, but for the rate, I do t think I would stay again.

I had a wonderful stay at Park Hyatt. I felt at home during my stay. The staff was friendly and my suite was comfortable, clean and inviting. The bathroom design was slightly awkward but still functional. The hotel restaurant and bar are great options that you do not have to absolutely go outside of the building for good food and exceptional service. Valet service moves quickly although only thing to note is there are no available Tesla chargers due to construction however that may change. This location is great for neighborhood walking accessibility. Short strolls to coffee shops and shopping. Highly recommend this location.

If you have the opportunity to catch one of these evenings, it is absolutely worth the effort. I arrived early and stopped at Off the Record for a drink before heading upstairs. The bartender mentioned that this event also helps provide additional hours for staff during the slower month of August, which made me appreciate the concept even more. The Top of the Hay itself is stunning. The views and setting are exactly what you would expect from such an iconic DC property, and getting to experience a space that is typically reserved for private events made the evening feel particularly special. The drinks were also excellent. Sweet, but not overly sweet. But what really stood out was the staff. I do not say this lightly. The service was outstanding. I genuinely wish I had caught everyone's names because anyone working between roughly 4:30 and 7:30 that evening in the lobby, Off the Record, or Top of the Hay deserves recognition and a raise! Every person I interacted with was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing. What impressed me most was that the staff remembered my schedule for the evening and made sure I left Off the Record at exactly the right time so I could be the first person to step into Top of the Hay when it opened. That level of attention to detail is rare. Beautiful space, great drinks, and truly exceptional hospitality. "Be Gin the Evening" is such a clever way to let locals and visitors experience a part of The Hay Adams they otherwise might never see. I would absolutely do it again.

For the rates they charge, the conditions and service are unacceptable. The building is old, heavily dated, and features cheap fixings. The bathroom is tiny, featuring a cramped round sink with virtually zero counter space to set down any personal items. Furthermore, for a five-star hotel, lacking a proper hot tub and standalone shower is unacceptable. The towels provided are cheap, rough, and feel entirely out of place at this price point. The bathroom ventilation is so old and loud, that I can't even believe it's there. No fridge in the room, only a mini bar that will charge you if you move around mini bar items to place your own drinks. The view of the White House was severely misadvertised. To actually see it, you are required to pay an extra $700 on top of an already steep $600-per-night room rate. The acoustic insulation is non-existent. If anyone is staying in the room above you, forget about sleeping--every single footstep and movement carries straight through. The front desk staff was entirely dismissive. After promising to switch our room to resolve our issues, they dragged us through three separate attempts, wasted hours of our time with non-responsive answers, and then finally demanded we pay even more money to fix their mistake. After we went through, not even a complimentary breakfast or really anything. Shocked that this place is more expensive than Four Seasons, St. Regents, and the kind. This is barely a three star hotel (except location of course). Stay away.

Overall, a stylish, safe, and seriously fun stay. More details from my review on Google: Rooms: The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The turndown service was a lovely touch, and everything in the room was perfect throughout my stay. Safety: The hotel elevators felt extremely secure and high-tech. Walkability: The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of plenty of things to do, as well as the locations I needed to access for work. The location made my stay easy and convenient. Food & drinks: The hotel restaurant and bar had a nice atmosphere, and the food was good, but everything felt extremely overpriced. Charging $24 for one drink is absurd. I enjoyed the experience overall, but the prices make it difficult to recommend. Noteworthy details: From the moment I arrived, I was treated like a regular. He supervised an otherwise complicated set of logistics with competence and gentlemanly grace. Another shout out to the manager ( sou?) of the breakfast dining. We watched him rigorously oversee staff and guests while occasionally stepping in when helpful. His leadership is likely responsible for the professionalism of said staff.
